Era la hora de tomar una copa en la calle Gardner una tarde, nos sentamos afuera de la cafetería "coffee tree" "La gente mirando". cuando llegó nuestro Latte, la camarera era amable y comunicativa. El Latte se veía muy bien PERO cuando empezamos a tomarlos, ambos tragos no estaban ni cerca de "calientes". Estaban casi tibios. El azúcar que añadimos ni siquiera se disolvió en nuestras tazas correctamente. . Nos quedamos sedientos y necesitamos una bebida CALIENTE. El por qué algunos lugares sirven café frío o caliente de Latte es un misterio. Para mucha leche. . ? Agua no lo suficientemente caliente . ? No lo sabemos . .

Ordered a piece of Lemon and Blueberry cake which wasn't bad, an Americano with hot milk on the side but got cold milk, a large Americano which consisted of a large cup less than half full of coffee and the worst of all, a Ham and Cheese Toastie. The filing was tasteless and the Panini grill must have been filthy as all I could taste was stale grease. I felt very queasy for several hours afterwards and I'm not prone to such feelings. We visit Brighton regularly and always avail ourselves of some of the excellent variety of top class food on offer, I would definitely recommend that you avoid this place as there are numerous other options.

Stopped off for tea and cake. Excellent choc and rasp cake and a lemon and blueberry cake. Service was good, tea was good too

We came for a cuppa and some cake on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't that busy so we decided to sit in. There were 3 people busy behind the counter. We order two teas and two cakes. We had to wait ages for the tea which it turns out was sitting on a tray at the end of the counter. I went and got that myself once I saw it was there. Then we waited ages more for the cake. I think we must have been forgotten about because it was a good 15 minutes we were sat there waiting which I'm sure isn't the service they expect to give. The tea was great (ginger and pear) and the cake was awesome, it was a vegan banoffee cake. All was fine except such a long wait. Would we go back, possibly. Not sure if was that amazing but it was nice enough. Just looked a bit chaotic. Good cake tho for sure !

Tenía un trozo de pastel de zanahoria y fantástico una taza de té encantadora, lo único que me preocupa es que usa el mismo cuchillo para cortar tartas variadas, algunas de las cuales eran sin gluten y tuerca gratis. No soy experto pero aún sé que esto es incorrecto.

We had excellent coffee with a scrumptious coffee cake. Compliments on the 5 star service for us and our dog with an dded bonus of wifi.

This small coffee shop serves cakes and warm drinks (coffee and tea). Choose an outdoor table on a sunny day. Tip: Offer of 5gbp for a cake/coffee set.

Very nice coffee, average cake although plenty of choice, outstanding toasties at £2.50 a go. Student deals and discounts. A worthy stop if you are in need of a quick caffeine fix!

Three staff faffing around. There were only three customers in the cafe, it was not busy. Yet, we waited 20 minutes for one coffee and one green tea, only to be told that they have run out of green tea bags. We asked for our money back. They gave us most of our money back in 5p pieces!! There was no apology at having wasted so much of our time. Awful. There are plenty of other coffee shops in this street, we'll go to another next time.

Both my partner and I had a flat white and cake each, absolutely delicious. Nice to be able to sit inside or outside too

An unwelcoming cafe, and the cake I had was dry and almost hard. It has a big variety but not good quality.

Odd little coffee shop but does a really really nice cup of coffee. Coffee cake was good too. I sat in the window and watched the shoppers. relaxed atmosphere away from the hurly burly outside.

I bought a smoothie and it took about 15 minutes to make. It later transpired that the smoothie had been taken by someone who hadn't even ordered a smoothie. They hadn't noticed and didn't seem to care that we'd been waiting at the counter for so long. The place was packed due to a group of six tourists taking up about half of the seating, despite sitting there with empty mugs and plates for the last twenty minutes. There were also tables that had dirty mugs and plates that weren't cleared up for a long time. The cake looked appealing but tasted like it had been bought at the local Tesco Value range. All style no substance.

I'm not a great coffee fan usually (prefer tea!) but the coffee here is smooooth and great tasting! Carrot cake delish too! And the chai is fab. Oh. I sound like an advert! Ha ha!

As I walked into the establishment, I was greeted with no welcome (I might as well have been invisible) and there was only me that had approached the small bar area, there wasn't a sign of any queue. As i waited patiently for the barista to cut two pieces of cake in front of me (which took what felt like a millennium) I got no eye contact, no gesture or no communication to say she was going to be a few minutes. whilst the other barista was behind the coffee machine and looked like she was making drinks for the same order as the cakes. I felt very unwelcome. Eventually, I got a very basic order request from the barista who'd finished cutting cakes and had placed them at the side bar, not to the customer. During my transaction, the previous customer had worked out that his order was ready (after no communication from the baristas) and collected his order from the bar. However, they'd given him the wrong cakes! So now i had to wait again for the lady to cut two more pieces of the correct cake, with no apology to the customer or me, just a 'oh, give me a second' and then did the same as before with the new cakes, and placed them on the side. After eventually processing my order, she said my coffee cake will be ready in a few minutes, and I can collect it when it's ready. So i replied that i'll be sitting outside in the front seating area. After maybe over five minutes, eventually the barista had come outside and told me my order was ready to collect. I felt it was pointless that now i had to go inside and follow her all the way to bar to get my order. As a service business i would have thought the barista could have served my order to me with some friendly attitude? I then didn't receive any 'enjoy your drink' or any sort of acknowledgement for that matter. A deeply disappointing experience and i won't be going there again any time soon. Also the cakes taste very fake, with tonnes of sugar.

Myself & my mum fancied a coffee and thought this coffee shop looked lovely. There were 3 members of staff however it took 15 minutes to get an iced coffee, while I was told to wait my mum who bought a coke sat down. Extremely disappointed in the service provided. It's small inside but a lot of seating outside.

Friendly staff made great coffee and smoothies. Good selection of home-made looking cakes. We sat outside and watched the world go by while enjoying our drinks and were not hurried by staff. Inside seating was cool, on a hot day.

Best cappuccino I have had in the world ace service great and wish it was near home would be there every day and little leaf on top stayed til bottom

Delicious cappuccino after shopping in the Laines. Quick and efficient service with friendly staff. Would have had the delicious looking apple and cinnamon cake, had I been hungry at the time of my visiit.

Visited this coffee shop in May and we were so impressed we had to come back. This time however the staff were different and did not seem very friendly or interested. We ordered the carrot cake & banana & walnut cake as we had loved them earlier in the year. Again these were delicious just wish the service was as good.

A nice cafe on a busy street with little tables and chairs outside and inside. Cappucino was yummy and so was the coffee cake I tried. They don´t do table service so you need to get your drinks. Loo could have been cleaner. Overall OK :)

The lemon cake is very nice and the coffee very pretty (if a little cold). Best of all, there is a toilet on the ground floor - though a wheelchair user may struggle a bit.

Llegamos a él pseando por las calles llenas de tiendas. El lugar es pequeño pero cierra algo más tarde que el resto y los pasteles están muy buenos. El carrot cake estaba muy sabroso.

Cake was nice, coffee was good. Service was really poor. It isn't table service, they just shout and you collect it - they got our order wrong but made us feel like that was our fault!

Came here for afternoon coffee and cake, waitresses where really lovely and coffee was nice not burning hot and delicious cake. 20% student discount really helped!

Popped in for a much needed break - enjoyed the coffee although it could have been hotter - cup and mug sizes not very generous for the price. Mango smoothie had a strange tang to it which daughter didn't like - her dad finished it off even tho he agreed about the taste (prob cos it was nearly £4). Not a lot of tables to sit at so it would be nice if staff brought drinks over instead of telling you to collect it from the end of the counter where there isn't much room. Lemon victoria sponge was ok. Wouldn't rush back.

Although there are a plethora of cafes in this area, this is one of the better ones.
