We had a lovely evening meal here, it’s dog friendly and the staff were great too. We had the hummus and calamari to start then the pasta in cheese sauce with grilled chicken and the burger, all very good portions and very tasty. We would definitely recommend this place.

A disappointing meal, paying £14 for cheap pasta covered in cheap cheese. The waitress was friendly however the manger was somewhat inconvenienced by us. It was vastly overpriced for what it was the bread was stale, very little care taken on the food.

The staff are lovely but I cannot believe the price of some of the items. A basic tomato based penne pasta is £14 alone but if you want to add chicken then it’s an extra £6!! And that is also the same for the Greek salad, which would be £20 with some chicken added. We got the small fish and chips and my partner got the chowder. He liked his chowder, however my fish and chips were very clearly frozen fish from a packet which was really disppointing considering where this place is based. The chips were also frozen but that didn’t bother me as much. The staff were lovely and attentive, they couldn’t do more for you.

Stopped at this lovely looking pub restaurant for lunch. Nice inside with areas on different levels and a cosy feel to it. Good service too. Only complaint would be the randomness of the music being played. We almost left without having lunch when there was constant heavy metal music playing whilst we had our drinks. Fortunately the playlist changed, but it was a very random mix of music. Food was good. Gluten free bread available for my ham and cheese roll. Hubby had beef. Both those and the chips were very tasty.

One measure of a good restsurant is not that mistakes are made, because of course they will from time to time, but how they are handled. In our case a menu mistake was handled very well and we enjoyed our meals. Friendly staff and very good service.

We ordered a salmon baguette, which was £8 and a beef baguette which was £11. Alongside, we had a (£4.50) bowl of chips. Apparently the salmon baguette was 'okay', but the bread was dry. The beef baguette was horrible, dry bread, stringy tough beef just 2 or 3 tiny bits of rocket. No salad garnish All served on bread boards (!). Time enough for gimmicks when you have perfected your food. Until then, guys, stick to plates!! To add insult to injury, the chips were hot, but pale and tasteless. A little salad garnish might have improved presentation, but, somehow I doubt it! The wine was good, and this place begrudgingly gets 1 star for being dog friendly. Don't waste your money eating here unless you like dry baguettes, tough beef and poor presentation, in which case you will love it. If not, then walk past and find somewhere else!!

My friend and I had lunch on a visit to Westbay. The menu is quite varied so there is something for all tastes. We settled on fish, chips and mushy peas. We were taken aback by how quick our meals arrived and it was perfect. The fish and the chips were cooked to perfection. Well done to the staff. A small note for the restaurant is the paper menu's were grubby. Can I suggest you give new menu's to each customer.

This Restaurant has changed hands since we when there previously. It still offers great food, well prepared, quick efficient service and all done with a smile and friendly approach. We went there in the evening only needing a snack as we had been out for lunch earlier in the day. To call what we had a snack would be wrong because we were very satisfied by a bowl of soup and a protion of local scallops. The cider and the beer were good too. Well worth going to.

West Bay is a very beautiful place to visit, but when the weather is rough, this pub is a great refuge. I understand it is a family run business and it is a very smooth operation. All the staff are really lovely and very helpful bringing freshwater over for the dogs without being asked which is lovely and dogs are made very welcome as are the customers. The food is absolutely delicious and highly recommended. The prices are very reasonable and you certainly get great portions. When we were there, it was a very busy lunchtime, but the food was being delivered to the customers at a very speedy rate We are looking forward to visiting again next time we are in this beautiful area of Dorset

We stayed at the Bridport Arms to celebrate our anniversary. They could not have been more accommodating! We were able to park for free in one of their dedicated spaces. They allowed us to book in and use our room far earlier than the official check in time, simply because the room was ready. The room was just lovely with absolutely everything you could possibly need. Fab coffee machine with free pods( and instructions) Dyson hairdryers, luxury toiletries, fluffy towels and robes! It felt like a spa hotel! Loved it so much asked if we could stay an extra night. We were offered the choice of staying in our room, or upgrading, at no extra cost, to an alternative room. We chose to change, and soooo glad we did! We got a full on suite with comfortable chairs, and the most superb sea views! Just cannot praise the place enough! From the staff, who were all so friendly and welcoming, to the super relaxing atmosphere. If there were one criticism it would be the rather limited menu, which if you were staying any longer would become a bit restricted. Although the food we ate was delicious, fresh and service great, so not much of a criticism!

We had been planning to go here for lunch as we had heard the new owners had come from the Pilot Boat in Lyme where we previously had good food. The main bar was warm and inviting but the tables were full so we went in the side room to the right. It was a bit bare with wooden tables and not much atmosphere but we chose a table by the window but as it was very cold we moved to one by the radiator. Unfortunately the fire/woodburner wasn't lit which was a shame as it was below freezing outside. The other customers in the same room all had their coats on. Having looked at the menu online I was particularly looking forward to having a foccacia sandwich but the new menu had started that day so they were now baguettes. We both chose the beef and horseradish baguette only to find once ordered that they didn't have any beef! Apparently it was due to it being the new menu that they didn't have all the food items yet. As we didn't fancy any of the other fillings we gave up and went elsewhere in West Bay and had a lovely lunch in warm and welcoming surroundings. Having checked their website again today it is still showing the old menu. I do fully understand that times are hard in hospitality currently but all in all it was a disappointing experience.

lovely looking pub great location , large car park , clean toilets . staff lovely . but sadly the food let it down. we visited one evening and ordered our meals when they arrived presentation left a lot to be desired . the sausage and mash looked and tasted like school dinners . mashed potato had no flavour and was lumpy , the gravy very watery too . sausages quite bland too . maybe make thicker gravey perhaps put onions in it to add flavour. the spuds definatly needed more butter. just tasted like water . the hake was very nice but really wasn’t alot there for what it cost . My fish and chips were lovely but i did ask for a small and they charged for a large so £18 instead of £12 . also asked for normal peas as i hate minted mushy peas they still served it with mushy so i had to request normal peas she was going to take my plate away i said no it’s fine just bring me out a little dish of proper peas . Also they bought the bill out all together so we asked if we could pay seperatly for our bills. which we did but turns out they got ours wrong i think we must of paid for our friends and they paid for ours as i didn’t have a sweet or another drink . so ours was much cheaper !!! before you say it no we didn’t mention it at the time as you don’t make a fuss in front of friends !! The pub itself lovely but i do think the lovely fire should of been lit as makes a place very inviting to customers very warning . Staff very friendly too .

Nice enough food with a few minuses. The starters were very small for the price (around £8) 3 of us had the roast pork dinner option, lots of meat, not so much veg though and very strange roast potatoes. They were whole - more like jacket potatoes. They forgot to put stuffing on my plate and there were no Yorkshire puddings !! Only if you had the beef. Personally I like Yorkshire puddings with all roasts and was really disappointed when we didn’t get one. Especially as the neighbouring table had them and they looked good. I’d say expensive for what you got. Will try somewhere different next time.

We ate twice at The Bridport Arms during our stay in Westbay. Well organised during Covid with hand sanitiser station as you walk in with the QR code for scanning. Plenty of space between the tables. Staff were polite and friendly. Our first visit was for a Sunday Lunch. We had roast beef and roast loin of pork which were lovely, could have done with a bit more veg or less variety and a bit more of it. The puddings were lovely. Our second visit was good, we had the seafood cocktail starter which had a few bits of shell in my husband’s one. We raised it with the staff, and although they apologised they were not overly concerned and said “at least you know it is fresh!” I had mussels for my main and they were very nice but the sauce was a little watery and not as tasty as the starter version I had on the previous Sunday. Again puddings were nice. We would eat here again but it would not necessarily b3 the first place we would jump to visit.

We visited here recently on a week night and on arrival there were barely any other guests there (we'd booked and it was early evening). The food was lovely and we both had a starter (camembert) and main each (one - seafood, other - scampi and chips). From the start, the service was excellent and really friendly and efficient (we were served by a young female waitress, sorry don't know her name) but sadly after the main was eaten and taken away, the service went extremely downhill. We were asked if we wanted a dessert and we said we'd look at the menu and I asked for another glass of wine to be told yes but I'll get it when I've done this. This was fine and what I had expected but then cut to 30 minutes later and many attempts to catch her - and other's - attention to no avail. I eventually managed to get the young guy serving at the bar's attention who came over and was really embarrassed and apologetic when I explained, very politely, about the wait for the wine and the fact that we hadn't been asked about desserts still. This was obviously then explained to his colleague as she then looked over and brought the wine over, put the glass down and said here you go (no apology, explanation, etc). It was all very odd as to begin with the waitress had been brilliant and so nice and friendly but then a couple more tables arrived and she seemed busier and harassed and sadly, we were affected it seems. We had originally planned to eat there the next night but decided to venture elsewhere where we had a really good and positive experience. It's a shame as we had previously visited and had a great experience but this was one ended up being disappointing. The prices were quite expensive (I'm used to London prices) for what it was and I'm not sure I'd rush back especially with some other great local choices closeby. The tables seemed socially distanced and there was hand sanitiser outside the loos which were nearby. The staff weren't wearing COVID protected gear like masks or visors, etc, but they had tape for those who got close to the bar area.

Visited West Bay and this was one of two pubs that were in the bay. They have COVID measures in place perfectly which is too their credit. Unfortunately, the eating experience was not as good:Both times we ate there, we had a starter and then a meal. There was no pause between the starter and our main meal. On the second time (we had the Sunday roast) they actually brought the meal while our soup bowls were still on the table. The food itself was ok, but not great. We stayed overnight as we were visiting West Bay to go to the near by Station Kitchen. We arrived around 2.30pm but couldn't find a parking space where directed to park so I went into the bar to ask.It was quite busy at the bar & I did feel a bit invisible as I wasnt acknowledged at all but eventually we were told we could park around the back!We then gathered our overnight bags and waited at the bar again to check in. It did seem to take ages to be acknowledged both times!!We were shown to our room which was very nice & right on the beach. No complaints at all with our room.We literally dropped our bags and headed back to the bar. It was just before 3pm as it had taken half an hour to park & check in!!We were then told that food service had stopped. We were so looking forward to a late lunch that we felt quite disappointed. We had wasted half an hour checking in!! So, the cafe just across on the beach got our lunch money!! Not a great start but I'm pleased to say that breakfast the next morning was excellent so made up for the lunch issue!! Had we been told straight away on our arrival about the lunch serving time we would have checked in afterwards.I think the bar staff could have made us aware! We enjoyed our stay. I'm not sure if we would stay here again though. The room was lovely but the other areas leading to the room could do with a bit of TLC I think and the hallway smelt very 'musty'!

Came here on a Saturday night with the family. We booked for 7pm but there was no need as it was completely empty. Just as we got there another couple were leaving, and another couple popped in and out, so for most of the evening, we were on our own. I had the vegetarian risotto which was just hard work to eat. Despite being hungry i could only eat about half of it. I was offered veggie cheese, which saved the dish - it wouldn’t have been edible without this. For dessert I had the chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream – which was another disappointment. Two people I was with had the fig and honey crème brulee, neither of them finished it as they also didn’t enjoy. All the desserts cost £6.50. This included ice cream. £6.50 for three scoops of ice cream is bonkers. The fish curry also wasn’t great, it contained aubergine which wasn’t stated on the menu. Service levels weren’t amazing. As we were the only people in this pub all night, I expected a bit more. We all felt like we were keeping both staff members up, and sensed they wanted us to go. While we waited for our cab home, we actually went and waited outside as we felt so unwelcome inside.

We went for lunch on our first day and the crab sandwich was good, if a little bit smooth and out of a tin! Went back for dinner later in the week. The staff couldn't have been more efficient or friendly. But honestly the food was a bit of a let down. The whitebait could have come straight out of a deep freeze and although the scallops were lovely I thought they were a bit pricey at 19.00 for five, in a sort of pea risotto which was unmemorable. The venue is lovely, clean and cosy and staff were happy, polite and efficient.

Had fish and chips here, served very quick and piping hot. In fact it was that good we returned two days later for a repeat meal. Also excellent.

Popped in for an evening drink, seems a nice traditional pub, dog and family friendly, lots of the tables were booked for food. Our wine was very good, would visit again.

First class food at a reasonable price. The Sea Bass on a bed of noodles is out of this world. Very friendly staff and a real welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended

My partner had the sweet potato tartar which she thoroughly enjoyed. I requested the chicken wing starter with a portion of chips served with our mains. Unfortunatelyly my friend ended up paying for a ‘double’ portion of wings which I hadn’t requested. I felt this was ‘sharp’ practice.

The prices that they are charging to be sat by someone else's smelly dog whilst eating is unbelievable.

Down West Bay with family, we didn't realise that the speedboats would also be there! Popped in for a quick bite to eat. We found somewhere at the bottom to sit and went to the bar to ask about food. I was greeted most pleasantly as I explained we hadn't booked and would they be able to do food for 3 as they were very busy. I was told no problem whatso ever! The drinks were ordered, the food was ordered (eventually as there was so much choice!) When the food arrived it was as ordered and nice and hot! If I have one little moan it would be that a finger bowl and a bowl for the mussel shells would have been a good idea. It is a refreshing change to "pop" in to some where and be greeted by friendly staff members! Highly recommended!!

Beer is always good, menu a bit limited and does not often change, but well presented with friendly staff. A lovely pub and nice side area when sunny.

we had lunch with first and main courses. All seafood was as fresh as it could be. Portions are well sized and presented very tasteful. Price, quality and quantity accord very well.

The room was lovely and spacious but the beds were awful...mattresses were so bad my sister nearly fell out of her bed several times in the night as they sloped. Breakfast started quite late and was not worth the wait. No vegetarian breakfast either.

I feel I must apologise to this pub for keeling over upon learning that they were charging £4.95 for a pint of shandy.

We visited on a week night of our 7 day break in Dorset. After finding the other pubs and restaurants in West Bay were mainly empty we went to the Bridport Arms which was bustling and the menu looked good too.

We were staying in West Bay and decided to visit here as,many years earlier we had enjoyed several relaxed drinks in Bridport Arms. We only stayed for a quick drink as the focus seemed to be on food and the attitude of the barman when we ordered 2halves was quite abrupt. Having said that, it was busy so obviously some people like it. Menu looked quite expensive.

Met up here with a few friends last Sunday, managed to get a table outside in the sunshine. Quite a spacious pub with a reasonably good selection of beers/ largers, the service was good and parking ok just outside.

Food is extremely average, not worth the prices charged. The gin menu is disappointing as not served as stated, no garnish and no gin glasses.

Stopped off here for a bite to eat before heading home to Wiltshire after a days fishing at Burton Bradstock. My fishing partner and I both ordered the homemade burger in a brioche bun with fries. They were delicious. The local Palmers beer was well kept and made the perfect accompaniment. Nice friendly harbour side pub with friendly staff and good service.

What an absolute pleasure to stay at this fabulous hotel. Great location by old Harbour and on the edge of West bay beach by the famous cliffs. Sea views are true from certain rooms. Staff are extremely attentive. Wonderful restaurant and excellent breakfast. Well worth a visit.

Lovely local Palmers beer and high-quality food served by friendly efficient and enthusiastic young staff. Keen to hear what I thought about the food - nothing to criticise but could be done in a different way to appeal to people with smaller appetites.

We called in lunchtime without booking to see if we could eat. The manager ,smiling and helpful found us a table and promptly furnished menus and offered a tab. I had superb beers whilst my partner stuck to soft drinks due to having to drive. The menus were comprehensive and fairly priced, I having superb locally caught fish & chips and partner enjoying Pork chops with lovely onion and vegetable extras, this was preceded with Minestrone soup in my case & escalopes for partner. The food was promptly served by cheerful staff, the whole experience most worth while. I firmly recommend this lovely establishment & will return if ever I can get back to West Bay!

Popped in for lunch on day out. Was welcomed and seated straight away. Placed order with young waitress who was rude and obviously didn’t want to be there! Was asked if condiments required which was received by being thrown on table without a word. Requested different waitress as complained about the service we received so far which was addressed. Young waitress with attitude definitely in need of customer service training! Food was nice but missing some items off the menu description which we did mention. Definitely disappointing!

We stayed nearby and walked up the lane to the pub hoping for an evening meal, but it was all closed up and the garden was overgrown. Possibly it’s fallen victim to the lockdown? (The last review was February 2020.) It didn’t seem as if anyone was at home. A great shame for such an ancient establishment if it has gone to the wall. 😢

Ria went above and beyond today to make us feel valued customers and made sure we had everything we needed to thoroughly enjoy the foods we bought. The selection of pastries, cakes we tried today are the best we have had from a bakery. Thankyou
