Bridge Street Roastery in Cheshire West and Chester

Tried lots of places for breakfast. This is my favourite. Staff always attentive and pleasant. Excellent service. Good quality food served with a no fuss approach. Ordering at counter and food brought to you which is great. The prices are very competitive. Eggs & Mushrooms on toast and a Cappuccino for under £10!

Oh dear, that’s all I can say. This refers to BSC at Chester Market. Not exactly busy but I just wanted a take away sandwich. Was not exactly welcomed in and sandwich was very poor for £6.95. Want places like this to be a success but come on!

Really enjoyed the coffee and eggs benedict at Bridge Street Coffee - so much so I went back again the next day for the same again. Service was friendly and efficient, although on both days I was near enough first in the door at approx 8am so it was very quiet. Recommended.

I rarely write negative reviews, as I always try to understand and forgive staff's lack of competence or delays in bars and restaurants. Unfortunately, this time, the experience significantly exceeded what a customer should expect from a coffee shop. I'm referring to Bridge St Coffee in Chester Market on Monday, August 26th, around 12 o'clock noon. We were two people, and we asked if we could sit outside and order food, just two burgers. A gentleman told us to choose a table, queue to order, and that the waiters would bring the burgers to the table. We did. The coffee shop was busy, but at least 30% of the tables were empty inside and outside. It wasn't overwhelmed with customers, I would say. While sitting with my wife, I saw waiters delivering food, even to customers who arrived after us. After 40 minutes, no food arrived. I went inside to ask what had happened to our burgers, and a lady told me that the kitchen was busy and that I would receive the food in a minute. Ten more minutes passed. A couple sitting near us who arrived just 15 minutes before received their cooked food. But not us. So I asked the waiter if I could speak with the manager. The waiter, apparently, was the manager. I said that a 50-minute wait for two burgers was too much, considering other customers were served. The lady, in a very arrogant and evasive manner, told me that it was a bank holiday, so food was delayed. The peculiar thing is that she did not apologise at all. I said that if the food did not arrive within the next 10 minutes, I would ask for a refund. Ten minutes passed, no food arrived, and I was forced to ask for a refund. Of course, the burgers were not ready. So we spent an hour waiting for food that was never cooked, and the presumed manager did not apologise. Indeed, this is the last time we will go to Bridge St Coffee. I suggest to the manager that they remember we are customers, not inconveniences. Without us, without customers, there is no business.

I really cant telling you in words how good the coffee is here. This is the best coffee i have ever had. Please feel free to send me some on a regukar basis.

Living locally, we’ve been going to Bridge st coffee for a long time the coffee & food is great & service is very good. So it was a surprise today when i called in & ordered 2 regular americanos (1 black the other white) to find on the receipt that the white coffee was 85 p more. 2 coffees were then brought out to us with a small container urn (probably with 50ml s of milk - come on how do you justify an 85p hike in price to have milk with your coffee.

We ordered tea and cake (carrot cake ) To our disappointment the cake was very very dry, therfore assume not baked that morning. The Opportunity to enjoy seating out side the cafe was a positive experience.

3 of us ordered Jerk Chicken wrap. It took ages to arrive and when it did it eventually did it was tiny and bland. Hot chocolate had cinnamon in it, which wasn’t advertised, and was unpleasant. Waiter was cleaning knives and forks on a cloth that he had slung over his shoulder next to his head. When we offered feedback we were met with an irritable response with absolutely no sign of an apology. On a busy Saturday race-day in Chester, this place was only half full and it’s no surprise. We won’t be visiting again, that’s for sure.

Perfect place for brunch. Great eggs florentine and freshly mixed juices. We went to the newer location in the Coachworks Arcade

I visited on a busy Saturday and was told by the man on the door I had to reserve a table outside then go in and order. I politely explained I was alone so couldn't reserve the table and go in at the same time. He told me to leave my bags on the chair to reserve the table and when I said I was not prepared to leave my shopping bags unattended he just smirked and became sarcastic and unhelpful, saying it 'wasn't difficult and other people manage to do it'. I went in and got my smoothie and fortunately a kind young couple had overheard the conversation and kept the table for me. No thanks to the man on the door. This is the second time he has spoken to me like this -- I do go back because the smoothie is so good and the rest of the staff inside are fine. The man on the door could have offered to save the table for me or put a little reserved sign on the table. He is front of house and very unfriendly and unhelpful. I would have given five stars if he had helped me and been pleasant. A poor show.

My husband thanked the chef for what he said was the best bacon and egg sandwich he's ever had. Also, great value for money and family friendly. And lovely freshly squeezed orange juice

Came in for coffee and breakfast, all the staff were incredibly friendly and the food and coffee were absolutely lovely! 😊

Lovely food. Great coffee and friendly service. My wife is coeliac and they took it very seriously in catering for her dietary needs. I'm not sure what others are saying about prices. Very reasonable for a family of 5 for brunch. Bacon avocado on sourdough toast was lovely and their juices were fresh. Definitely recommend!!

When you’re advertising a whole list of different hot chocolates and you run out of hot chocolate before ten in the morning you’re doing something wrong according to me.

Rude and unhelpful… I have visited this cafe many times, many times as a treat with my 9 year old son. On this occasion we drove into Chester from North Wales especially for some quality time together in between the Christmas break whilst my daughter was in nursery. I always ask for the same thing, goats cheese baguette. I am in no way a fussy eater, however really dislike rocket. On one occasion they have made one without. However I appreciate that this is unfair as it’s made in the morning. So I normally take it off after it’s been grilled. This time I asked if ‘I’ could it off before hand, this was clearly unacceptable as they’re far too busy to do this. And rude in their response, refusing to entertain this in anyway. The chef crashes around in the background looking stressed, visibly looking like the constant steam of‘paying customers’ is an inconvenience. I asked for a refund and left. I will not be returning, as I am positive I will find a much more friendly , cost friendly place to spend my money.

Another great find, the service was great, the lady at the till was very accommodating with our request for something different to what was on the menu. The place was so clean and all the food that came out from the open plan kitchen looked amazing, would definitely recommend.

We came in for coffee & hot chocolate. I was very disappointed as the prices on menu are false advertised. The manager was not very understanding. All she said was sorry. No refund for difference of price.

I have been here twice recently, once for coffee & cake and once with friends for a glass of wine. Both times I was very impressed. Quality of food and drink excellent and service top notch 😀

This was our fourth visit to Bridge Street Coffee, and as always, we were both pleased and impressed by the whole experience. It is a cosy restaurant with low lighting and bohemian decor, the staff are very welcoming, polite and helpful from the moment you walk in. The food was, as always, very good. My wife had the breakfast and I chose the Bridge Street Burger with cheese, both of which we can highly recommend. It's an excellent place to eat (and drink - the coffee is good too) so we will of course be returning!

Rainy and cold day just wanted to pop somewhere warm for food and drink..... well.... what can I say I won't be visiting here again, would rather stay cold and wet. Upon entry looked lovely and warm inside, but things changed once we sat and ordered. Even though the staff were lovely they were run off their feet as it was busy. This does not give them the excuse to cut corners I.e.hygiene measures. Whilst waiting for our breakfast, which was lovely (apart from very undercooked eggs), we watched the chef man-handle each and every piece of food with his bare hands on to each customers plate 🤢. His hands looked filthy and his nails looked like they needed a hack with a chainsaw! WOW is all I can say on that..... you really need to sort your hygiene measures out and stop touching people's food.... not good! Use utensils! Luckily we had finished when I heard said chef say he was popping the loo 😱😱🤢🤢🤢 I generally hoped he scrubbed his hands before returning to man handle more food 🤮

Probably my favourite place for brunch in Chester. Eggs Benedict is excellent and the coffee is good also. No burnt milk here, so no need for sugar in your coffee Not sure of the negative reviews below especially the one describing the chef, I presume this person is gods gift to the world and has never had a hard days work in his life

Brilliant food. Great selection to choose from and a nice location. Staff were fantastic and it was very reasonably priced too.

Amazing food. Great service. Affordable prices. Dog friendly. I had a full English breakfast, my wife had a steak baguette, both were excellent. Breakfast was obviously made with actual fresh farm products, not supermarket rubbish. Our food arrived promptly and at the same time - which is no mean feat considering how busy it was. Staff were friendly and polite without being overbearing. Another thing to add to my list of reasons to go to Chester.

My daughter and I had the unfortunate experience of visiting Bridge street coffee for breakfast this morning. We both ordered Scrambled eggs and Avocado on sourdough. Simple enough to get right eh?…. Not at Bridge Street Coffee!! I watched the ‘chef’ prepare our breakfast with despair, he had about as much passion and flare for food, as my big toe. The sourdough was thrown onto the plate like it had just insulted his mother, but it was the eggs that sealed the deal for this place as one of the worst venues for breakfast in Chester… Not just slightly overcooked, but so overcooked that they had become the same consistency as halloumi. All separated into tiny rubbery balls… yum yum… said no one… ever… We were lucky enough to have the ‘chef’ himself deliver our breakfasts to us, Now, I could’ve overlooked the greasy hair and filthy long nails if he had been in anyway personable but he grunted and left us with the worst scrambled eggs in the whole history of scrambled eggs. We both left our breakfasts, told the very sweet waitress about the unfortunate experience we’d had , got no refund and left feeling robbed and ready to never recommend this place to anyone but everyone I spoke to about it today, seemed to already know that it’s a bit of a dive and never to eat there. Eggs are surely the first test of a decent chef? If you can’t get them right, don’t do it, just like I wouldn’t go and work in an operating theatre. If you want to get breakfast that doesn’t resemble a bush tucker trial… go somewhere else.

Ordered a bruschetta and a cheese and ham sourdough. The bruschetta was listed under the “sourdough” section and so I guess we should have realised it was going to be more like an open tomato sandwich than a grilled bread rubbed with garlic topped with olive oil, salt, tomatoes and onions. It didn’t seem to have been grilled at all so was very bready, with a not great mix of tomatoes and other bits on top. The cheese and ham sandwich was fine. Would be better if they did a proper bruschetta, or didn’t call what they sold a bruschetta. We ate outside because inside it was absolute boiling. Outside we seemed to have a lot of wasps around, but that’s not the shop’s fault.

We called in here for some hot drinks and cake. This place is a hidden gem, it is fantastic. Excellent service from the friendly and highly professional staff. The cake was delicious. The place is lovely and clean. Next time we are in Chester, we will be back.

They do a great eggs Benedict also their bruschetta with Parma ham is delicious. Competitive prices, friendly staff, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Unfortunately I wasn’t impressed at all! And it all came down to hygiene! The bar where all staff stand behind is a tip and I couldn’t help but think I was going to end up with something I didn’t want in my food and drink! My friend and I walk at weekends and love this cafe. Independent with the most delicious cakes/sandwiches and coffee. Lovely atmosphere and open from 8 which means we don't have to rely on big corps like Nero/Mcdonalds for our coffee.
