What a great place for a lovely meal. It's even more than a tearoom, they have a good choice of meals on the regular menu and lots of specials too. Many of the dishes are home cooked and the chilli and rice I chose was very tasty and I had nice, lightly crispy chips on the side. Portions are good and prices are reasonable too. They have a selection of cakes, desserts and ice cream choices as well as hot and cold drinks. Great place to eat and it's run by a very nice couple and we chatted at length ! I would certainly recommend seeking out the Bridge of Brown tearoom.

My wife and I had passed this place earlier in the year but it was closed. This time we could see that it was ope and decided to call. We thought it was a the name suggests just a "tearoom". There is plenty of parking which is fortunate when you see its location. Inside was a very pleasant surprise. They had an extensive cafe type menu including many home made dishes and all at reasonable cost. The service was great and the two meals we ordered were prepared fresh and served piping hot. The coffee too was excellent. It is run by I assume a husband and wife who are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend if you are heading to the highest village in the highlands Tomintoul. Unlike most Scottish Restaurants they do not allow dogs in. Please update your Facebook Page :)

Stopped of for something to eat when touring Scotland. Food we had was excellent and had the best cup of tea we’d had for weeks. The husband and wife who ran the tearoom were very welcoming and friendly.

Me and my partner visited this tea room for a simple cup of coffee, and of course a trip to the toilet, after taking in all those amazing sceneries from the “Snow route”, expecting to find nothing else than a hot cup of coffee, we found instead a very warm welcoming little environment, hosted by a lovely couple, where we had a very pleasant chat, about our already 12hrs journey.Really recommend, if you are looking for a bit of rest in a very cosy and homie environment.Thank you!

We stopped here in the middle of nowhere when hungry. It is a lovely little cafe with great service. It doesn't pretend to be anything other and is excellently priced. We had soup and sandwiches and the children had chicken goujons. Scones and chocolate cake to take away. Stop if you pass it won't disappoint

We stopped here for lunch not really knowing what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. Toasties were fairly ordinary but served with a very fresh salad that went much further than the usual lettuce leaf and wedge of tomato. The burger was superb and my daughter was impressed with the chicken nuggets. The owners were lovely - friendly without being pushy. This is definitely a good place to stop if you're in the area, we'll certainly be back.

IF YOU EVER decide on a drive through the Cairngorms, it's good to know there is a place for sustenance. Bridge of Brown was unexpected as I drove south. Friendly faces large bacon roll and a good coffee - great. I guess they won't have many visitors when the snow comes, but in our heatwave, it was perfect.

Zeker even een bezoekje waard.

This little tearoom is in the middle of the moor and does not look very prepossessing but actually it is a very good spot to stop. It will only be open when the weather is good which is the only time tourists are around anyway - say April/May to early October for opening times. Lots of sensible food options on offer sandwiches, j/ps, toasties, soup and delicious looking cakes plus good coffee. Sensible pricing too.

Traveled up and down this road, past the Tearoom, and never saw it open. Ok, I was up there in late September, but so were many holiday makers..........perhaps I caught them on a bad week? Every tea room in Tomintoul was open.

Stopped in on horseback - nice field nearby to tether horses. Went in with a party of seven for lunch. Great food! Many choices ranging from traditional to more modern cafe style. I chose the traditional 'steak pie' and was not disappointed! Delicious! Attentive and friendly service. Well worth the stop.

Reading other reviews here, maybe we just went at the wrong time ? We new of the cafe, so planned out walk to stop there half way. Just needed a sit down and we had tea and cake. Assistant was friendly and pleasant. My slice of Victoria sandwich was not a good choice, not sure what sort of imitation cream that was, but I don't want it again and My husband had very little in the way of fruit, in his fruit cake. On our walk there was no where else to stop. But if we were driving next time, I'd carry on past and stop in Tomintoul instead.

aw this place at the side of the road and decided to give it a try and we weren't disappointed!! The lovely lady served us quickly and politely with coffees and cakes. My husband had a fruit scone which was huge and stuffed with fruit and my son had the carrot cake which was gorgeous and he particularly loved the icing which I can never get right so that was a plus!! I had a cafatiere of coffee which was like proper Italian coffee and I would go back for that alone!!

We were cycling and had extended our trip to Tomintoul to include the climb to the Lecht. The Tearoom was a bonus on the way back. It lies in the dip between two steep inclines, so whichever way you are going, north or south, this is a good place to stop and prepare for the rigours of the 20% climb ahead. Nice menu, better café food than you have a right to expect, and genuinely nice people running the place. Where else would a café follow you out into the car park to wave you off and insist on filling your bidon

We stopped here on our way back from Corgaff Castle and as soon as we entered the tea room we were greeted by a happy smiling face and we were made to feel very welcome. We are on our annual trip to the north of Scotland and because of the dire weather went for a drive. In need of something to eat/drink, we stopped here. Won't be back the owner is so rude . If you pay for drinks in a pub hotel . You expect a thank you. Total anti children our three year old was chatting and we Heard the owners rude comment about him . Also we took her seat . The poor lass who runs hand and foot for this person is so friendly it's the only reason we stayed so long . Won't be back and won't recommend to any of our family and friends that visit the port . Maybe someone will take over the Caledonian and make it a hotel and pub again . We have been visiting the port for 40 years and haven't experienced the unfriendly signal we got from the castle hotel .

What a fantastic find on our recent visit to Inverness. Brilliant wee cafe with extremely friendly staff. Great menu and selection of fresh cakes. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and to top it all they are doggy friendly which meant we didn’t need to leave our 14yr old pooch in the car. Would definitely recommend a visit.
