Popped by after a visit to the Aerodrome prior to our long drive home and found fantastic food and friendly staff as soon as we entered the door. Set in a characterful location with a great selection of well priced and freshly made breakfasts and drinks, all presented nicely in a home away from home environment. Really shows how local places can thrive when run with care and would certainly visit again if passing in the future.

A delightful hidden gem, very peaceful and relaxing place for lunch. Food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. We had the ploughman’s lunch which was delightful and staff knowledge about ingredients was impressive. We will visit again.

Went to have lunch today and was very confused by the difference between eating in and taking away. The eat in menu was very limited and some of the combinations were a bit weird. Looking at the takeaway menu there was a massive choice. When I asked if we could choose from the takeaway menu but eat in I was told it would be served on a paper plate and I could eat it outside! I was happy to pay an eat in cost but they couldn't do it because she didn't know how much to charge. We found somewhere else for lunch.

The website says Bricks is permanently closed but this is the previous owners website apparently, it is definitely open. A friend and I met at Bricks for a sandwich at lunchtime today and it was most enjoyable. It was very clean and the waitress was so pleasant and helpful. Do give it a try.

We had a lovely, generous, interesting lunch. There was so much food we took the large side salad home. Very relaxed. Everything is cooked to order so no fast food here. The price is really reasonable. Thank you x

We have just had a lovely lunch at Bricks, It is the first time we have eaten there but it won't be the last. As I waited for my meal to arrive (all the food is cooked freshly to order) I saw other dishes being served and I thought "I wish I had ordered that it looks so delicious" but I was not disappointed with my lunch. The sweet potato chips were wonderful and my wife's 'double- ended' pie was fantastic. I will return to try the other dishes, next time-local sausages and bubble + squeak I think.

What a change! Bricks has had a complete refierb, new management and you can see the difference! Any poor reviews here - just ignore! You can head for breakfast, lunch, or just a coffee and cake. The restaurant sits in Smithbrook Kilns and not only boasts free parking, you get to see the craft shops, including a picture framing company, jewellers, brick and brack shop. You can get your bicycle repaired and your grannies clock!. I've never had a bad experience at Bricks restaurant.

We arrived at about 14:30 and ordered the special, a fish finger sandwich. Unfortunately they had run out of this, so had to order something else but was told the kitchen is closing soon, (basically hurry up). I had a bacon and egg bap. The bacon was cooked great and the egg was runny but the bottom of the egg was burnt! Also when the food came out, the waitress put it the table and walked off. We were not given a knife and fork (but hard to eat salad and coleslaw without) and was not given a napkin or asked if we wanted any sauce. Poor service and they weren’t even busy. We won’t be returning.

Held our wedding reception at Bricks and it was amazing! From the first contact to planning the menu, Jane was so helpful and came up with a creative afternoon tea for our wedding reception. The venue was booked out to us for three hours (free of charge) and our guests loved the food, atmosphere and the service. We were even allowed to bring our dogs in for some time at the party. Would highly recommend Jane and her team and have now decided to hold all my business meetings there too. Thank you so much!

This small restaurant is located in a modern development of an old industrial site. There is plenty of parking. Every where has been restored very well and this restaurant faces out over trees and grassland. It is quiet and there is seating outside. Inside it is really different which is from its heritage. Brick walls, wooden floors make it very pleasant. There is a wide choice of drinks and food, from home made cakes to lunch and lighter dishes. Generally there is only one server so thankfully it is not a fast food establishment. Recommended.

My husband and I were holding a large ‘ big birthday ‘ party with over 100 guests and we needed outside caterers for our event . We approached Bricks , having read their reviews . Their chef Jane discussed with us the various details of our event and it was immediately apparent how experienced she was . She raised many points we had not considered and guided us through the whole process of deciding on a menu . Bricks personally visited the premises where the party was to be held to inspect the kitchen facilities , access to the building etc. In the lead up to the party they liaised with us , constantly dealing with any queries which arose . This was very reassuring as arranging a large event can be quite stressful and it helps to know that the catering arrangements are in capable hands . On the evening of the party, the food was first class . Additional options were provided for our vegetarian guests and those with special dietary requirements . We would thoroughly recommend Bricks to anyone planning an event . Their food is fabulous and they are a pleasure to deal with .

At 2.30pm we were too late for savoury food, but there was a great selection of cakes on offer. Tea for two in a gigantic tea pot plus banana cake cake to £6, the tea being £1.60 each, which for the volume was very good value. There is a very pleasant courtyard in which to enjoy the food.

I didn’t actually eat at Bricks restaurant but I did use the catering service they provide recently and it was superb. I got a choice of different menus for obviously different prices. We chose a selection of sandwiches with an assortment of other savouries and then scones, with jam and cream and a selection of cakes. There was ample amount of food and all of it delicious. They provided the cloths, China, glasses, tea, coffee, etc and to top it off they provided staff to serve. I was so impressed and so were all my guests. Would highly recommend the outside catering service they provide.

Great food, freshly prepared daily. I used to hold an office on the same site and was a regular here for lunch and breakfast. Great service, fresh food (hot and cold) and lovely just to stop in for coffee with a very pleasant restaurant and outside area.

We stopped here mid-morning after the Smithbrook Kiln shop we were visiting turned out to be closed!! This is a decent little cafe doing breakfasts and snacks and a decent menu for lunch. The site has free parking, clean toilets and good maps so was worth the visit.

The cafe was fairly empty when we arrived but we still had to find our own menus even though there were staff around. A large cappucino came & it was very small & needed to be drunk immediately or it would have been too cold. The food we had was very good but there was a mix up with one meal. We were expecting a vegetarian wrap & when it arrived it had chicken in it so my son couldn't eat it. He was warned that if he ordered something else it wouldn't be prepared for some time as the cafe had become busier. We decided to share out the food we already had rather than spend the day waiting for ages. We were charged for the uneaten meal. It was a misunderstanding as we had asked if it was vegetarian. We might have just been unlucky but some decent customer service was definitely lacking.

When you pay £20 for 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches you don't expect the drinks to be cold and the food to be inedible. We had to sit out in the cold as its no dogs which is norm fine but we waited 40min to get our order. I Had fish finger ciabatta and my partner had mozzarella and pesto both where inedible.

Had a party for 50 at Bricks yesterday evening to celebrate our 40th anniversary. On previous occasions we have held celebrations at home. But as we were going away early the following week we decided to use Bricks who have previously catered for us at home. We were lucky with the weather which stayed warm and sunny so we were able to have canapes and drinks outside in the pleasant courtyard before moving in to sit down. We had kept it simple - spit roast lamb with salads followed by pudding and coffee. All went very well. Minas and his team worked hard and we were well looked after. All the guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and many commented on how pleasant the venue was and how well it worked.

Popped in for a quick coffee as my mum works in another office in Smithbrook Kilns. Cant say much as didn't eat, but service was friendly and quick. I liked all the brick work. Possibly could do with a little updating of furniture to really attract in people that were not shopping/working at Smithbrook. Also a couple of comfy sofas would be lovely too. The food sounded good and the cakes looked nice. The presentation of food could do with a little updating too- maybe some slates or wooden boards to make it up to date, it would make it more of a destination. I've heard the food is good. They also have a snack bar/take-away lunch place next door and their main business is outside catering which apparently is very good too. They do serve soya milk for those of us who are dairy free. Didn't ask on the GF front, but they seem very competent so don't think it would be too much of an issue.

I was unfortunate enough to have lunch here on Fri 29th Nov 2013. After eating I went to pay at the till and was verbally abused by an elderly gentleman who was shouting at me from across the tables in a torrent of abuse. This was aimed at myself and my 11 month old baby. The owner I presume and waitress stood by and did nothing. After leaving I was very distressed and close to tears. I would not suggest coming here if you have kids.

Lovely woodland setting with very pleasant outside seating. But the cafe facilities were rather poor. Two "hot" sausage rolls were taken from a cold display case and were barely warm. a "cream tea" came in an assortment of pre-packaged plastic containers. This plus a couple of coffees came to over £20. Along with a disappointment with the arboretum itself, this did not make for a good day. We are not quite sure why the NT is even managing Winkworth, let alone currently expensively now expanding its facilities.

5 out of 5! First visit, lively and friendly. Fantastic, tasty, hot fresh food. Starters, calamari, and chicken wings were delicious. Mains, kofte kebab, and pork kebab are also excellent. Buffalo fries were stunning. The two veggies with us had superfood salad and a sweet potato dish, which I was assured were really good!!! Good choice of beer and wine and delightful staff!! Cost us about £72 per couple, including drinks and gratuity, which I considered very acceptable for the evening we had! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We will definitely be going back! 👍🏽

I love the elevated position above the shops and open air street level seating as well, with pleasant modern decor with lots of organics dotted about. Plenty of choices for food but we only needed the cake selection, including gluten free. I am staying in the area and have met friends several times in this place in one week as I liked it. We had cakes, I found them very nice but ultra sweet. Coffee was lovely and hot! average prices. Staff were excellent, helpful and smiley, it makes such a different to a visit! I thoroughly recommend.
