What a cracking little pub this is! A warm welcome and an excellent selection of ales and ciders, I can heartily recommend the Bee Sting honey cider…it’s strong but absolutely delicious. We’ll certainly be going back.

The perfect pub, friendly to dogs and humans. Great beer, lovely locals, great characterful decor with a really good book exchange. The hanging badkets outside are a work of art

One friday night me and 3 others turned up at 11.10pm the opening hours stating a 12am close, just like any other place visited we thought we were not taking the mick with our timing and just wanted to finish off the night. We are regulars at the pub too probably the youngest. We was greeted by a very hostile landlord steve who then said your lucky I'm serving you, he then went on to ask questions about where we had been previously and was clearly annoyed. We sat down, only 2 out of four of us having drinks we didn't even finish the, because we was so shocked about the way we had been treated . When leaving i said we will not be returning and steve the landlord followed us out by saying, let me tell you some old school rules. I explained it was 2020 but steve was having none of it. Clearly he has never valued us as customers. You look after your oldies and ensure the click stays the same. You will fall over your own feet in the end. Stella on the other hand is lovely .

Went for a quick pint but could not get to the bar for the sake of maybe 8 regulars who saw the bar as theirs and did not make any effort to allow visitors to get in to be served which spoilt my visit all for the sake of a bad mannered and ignorant regular crowd who probably see the pub as their own

Not a lot right about this establishment. Rude landlord who was plainly obnoxious to customers and staff. Poor quality low end ‘pub grub’. Like something from the early 1980’s. Didn’t seen very clean either.

Visited last month en route to my parents. Thought it looked quaint however once inside the levels of cleanliness was poor and the service was below par.

Food is average pub grub, atmosphere is not the best and the service is substandard. First and last visit and would not recommend going out of your way to visit.

I was on a training course nearby decided to go in and have a drink. Just got overlooked by the staff serving and dogs hair all over the place also smelt of piss I decided to leave. I would avoid this pub not unless you want to smell piss and wait 15 mins to maybe get served disgusting.

Great Pub serving the Local Burton Bridge Brewery Ales very nice bar staff and locals too, no food served but not a problem as we ordered food to be delivered there for when we were leaving. Would definitely recommend it for a good pint of Ale and a good old chinwag with staff and locals.

We have been going in the Brickies now for a couple of years and cannot find any reason to stop... Great ales, well kept and always available Great team behind the bar headed up by Steve and Stella. Really feel welcome with some great local characters. Great events arranged weekly, monthly and annually. Great attention to detail, health and safety and service.

A lovely little pub.well worth a visit if ur in the area.Important we try and keep our local to survive

What a superb pub! So clean and full of charm. The hosts are so friendly and focused. It must be one of the cleanest pubs I have been in. Lots of books - well maintained and upholstered seats. Friendly bar staff. Nothing seems too much trouble. I just wish it was on my doorstep. Great beers from Burton Bridge.

Use to go there while working at hotel Newton Park over 20 years ago, coming from France without speaking the language!!!! I learned a lot in that pub!! 😁 , nothing as changed always a great little pub with amazing customer care.... Love it, I won't wait another 20 years to go back

If we ignore the extremely well stocked bar, the great service, traditional English charm and character, put aside the exceptional real ales, then the warmth and friendliness of the locals still makes this a place worth visiting. Make a detour - you won’t regret it !

Friendly people good staff who know how to serve excellent beer.The pub is very clean and the glasses sparkle.

Popped in briefly with my daughter to try a quick local beer. I was persuaded to have a half of Stairway (to heaven) and it was lovely. In a ten minute visit we were entertained with stories of local clergy and others. I enjoyed the beer so much I had another half!

Nice owners, good beer, set in a lovely village. Brief contact with the owners (managers) was very positive.

Me encanta el ambiente de este antiguo pub. . . Uno de los pocos pubs típicos Inglés Antiguo a la izquierda! ! El personal del bar es muy amable y educado. . gran ambiente. Me encanta el techo. con sus jarras colgantes. (. Parece que cambian de manos con frecuencia. En términos de terratenientes). . Todavía nos encanta ir allí. Aunque! !

Called on recommendation , did not fail to satisfy. Im not a real ale drinker but apparantly recommended by afficianados of burton bridge brewary/real ale drinkers.

Simplemente encantador pub local situado en el corazón de este bonito pueblo. Impresionante cestas colgantes realzar el aspecto de este atractivo edificio que señuelos en probar la extensa gama de productos de fábrica de cervezas burton bridge, huéspedes y continental lagers embotellada. Por botellas pequeñas Prosecco y además de vinos y sabores estándar. Aunque este establecimiento no sirve comida hay una tabla de quesos en un domingo y una amplia variedad de aperitivos. Chimeneas en invierno. Realmente agradable en Steve y anfitriones Stella. Si no desea conducir hay una parada de autobús justo fuera del Brickmakers corriendo entre Burton on Trent y Derby.

All I can say is that I love this traditional British pub and if you have never tried a pint of 'Stairway to Heaven' then you are definitely missing out!

Qué servicio en este lugar... fuimos aquí para una bebida. Ahora un pub local, a veces se puede sentir muy incómodos y consciente del hecho de que eres un extraño, pero la señora tierra y el personal del bar eran tan encantadores me podría haber quedado allí toda la noche.

Called into the Brickmakers Arms twice now and each time there has been a friendly welcome from the staff and a great choice of beers. Just what you hope to find in a traditional pub. Will certainly call again.

Good old fashioned pub, great staff, great beers, great atmosphere oh and the locals are very friendly too.

Stopped here near the end of a nice walk in the local countryside. It started to drizzle so gave us a great excuse to nip in for a pint. A lovely friendly pub with fire going in the end room. Nicely decorated and overall cosy atmosphere. I'd recommend you to stop by and give it a go.

We only called in briefly for a drink with friends. However, that was sufficient to find out that the bar staff and the locals were very friendly. The beer was of good quality (hand pump draught) as well. Would certainly recommend a visit.

A proper local run by lovely people who know how to keep beer good and customers happy. Always busy and we love popping in as we pass by.

If you want a good pint (or more), a decent wine, or one of a selection of malt whiskys then pop to the Brickmakers.Think back to the days when a pub was a pub, when the landlord lived or died on his/her reputation for hospitality and quality of beer.

very much the "local" pub, so you can't help but get caught up with the people of the town/village. food was plain but excellent and comparatively cheap!

Great selection of beers, but a bit small, also don't do food, so just go for the beer, bar area a bit small so gets a bit crowded if people are sitting in front of bar..service good and well worth a visit..if down that way again would certainly call in.

Several excellent cask ales on offer, good selection of bottles. Quirky old place with lots of character. Nice village boozer.

Came across this pub on the way to our hotel newton park it's only up the road we were looking for some dinner, unfortunately this place didn't do food bit we were still pleased we called in even tho we didn't get food the staff were friendly and the locals were friendly could of happily stayed there all night if we didn't have a wedding to get to.

I was staying at an inn in Newton Solaney, traveling solo. I had read that if you are traveling solo in Europe and would like some company every now and again find a local pub and if you frequent it more than once they will generally treat you like family. That was truly my experience here. I was invited to sit with the locals and learn more about the area and the happenings. Being from the US I only have a mental image of what a local pub should be and this place surpassed all of my expectations. Hats off to a community full of wonderful people who gave me such a warm welcome and to their fine selection of wine and beer!

Great little pub with a comfy snug and great beers. Timothy taylors landlord on tap along with a nice selection from the Burton Bridge brewery.

We visited this lovely beautifully clean quaint local and was certainly not disappointed, the tenants certainly know how to keep a fantastic pint and the cheeseboard was to die for, we will be back now regularly.

The draught beer was brillant! Beautifully kept and so easy to drink! Could have stayed all night but on second thoughts would not have pleased the wife!

Good beers, great welcome and good atmosphere help to make this traditional village inn a winner! Don't come here expecting gastro-pub-sophistication, though; there's no restaurant - just a good, honest pub operation.
