Crewe & Harpur Derby in South Derbyshire

Great location, food is good, people are lovely but there never enough of them. They have an excellent outdoors garden but trying to get a drink at the bar just takes forever and it's the same everytime. It used to be the place you'd walk to for a pint in the garden in summer but unfortunately not any longer.

Good food, slow bar staff, 3 high chairs in the whole pub. We left as a child had no where to sit.

Love it. Very friendly staff look after you very well.food is good atmosphere is great .we do recommend this and we definitely come again .

We had a really nice evening celebrating my dad’s birthday. The food was excellent and the staff made my dad feel very special! Georgia made sure we were well looked after and had everything we needed, a lovely evening thank you :)

Clare, our server was particularly attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for her & she was jovial and had a laugh with us. She made the experience a very pleasant one.

I had a wonderful family meal here. Clare was super friendly as soon as we walked in. Stephen was very positive and kind as he brought our food out. We had a great time and can't wait to come again!

Food was mediocre, beef was very fatty and hard to cut, pork and turkey seemed as if they’d been microwaved. Was very expensive for what it was. £7 for a non alcoholic G&T is extortionate.

Staff were welcoming and attentitive. Warm, cosy, modern feel. Food was hot and tasty across 4 different mains and desserts. Cocktails were divine! We used the voucher code for 30% off mains which was a bonus but regardless we all said that we would return. No complaints whatsoever!

We were warmly welcomed,escorted to our table, and asked for our drinks order, and this was swiftly brought. Our food was beautifully cooked and presented. The mixed grill was amazing!!

We came for breakfast and was amazed by the amount of food you get to choose. Wonderful breakfast and attentive staff (Claire and Bertie the chef). Had a lovely morning in nice surroundings. Will return soon….very soon

Visited here a few times now and never had a bad experience Food is superb and staff are very welcoming and attentive We stayed over this time, and accommodation is first class. Highly recommended All the staff are great, but will make special mention of Eden who was so engaging and made the dining experience that bit more special.

Atmosphere was spot on, the food was tasty and served on a lovely hot plate, the speed of service was excellent and all done with a smile. the staff were incredibly friendly and polite. The restaurant was clean and well organised. The manager was especially friendly and very attentive. The drinks were excellent.

Sat in the bar area and decided to order food, how disappointing. Ordered 2 mains and 1 dessert. On BOTH occasions of the food arriving at the table, I had to then wait for approximately 10 minutes for cutlery! 2 of the 3 dishes had missing items, and when this was raised to the staff, I got told, " I'll let the kitchen know." Overall, poor service, so I will not be returning.

Went for lunch today , Danny was the Chef in charge of the kitchen, and everything was perfect. We had a main course, dessert and coffee - really enjoyed it. Not too busy and lovely atmosphere

I have been here a few times now, and have no complaints at all. There is amble seating both inside and out. Plenty of parking. Great location with lovely views. The food was wonderful, which is coming from a veggie who came for the Sunday dinner! Personable staff, good facilities. Will certainly be coming again. 😊

Brilliant experience, they managed to fit us in when they were busy, (we was in the area visiting family and called in on the off chance) The food was excellent and enjoyed by all ( 2 adult roasts and 1 child’s, then 2 desserts and a coffee) The service was absolutely fantastic especially the service we received off Eden She was happy polite and nothing was too much trouble for her, she was brilliant with our 10 year old daughter, a real asset to the business We would definitely make the hours journey to visit again because of the excellent service we received off Eden, it means a lot having such a pleasant server

Fantastic little place of the beaten track so to speak. Great service at the bar and in the restaurant (thank you Dominika, Grace, Stephen and Jamie). Food was great, excellent gammon stake - cheers to the chefs and Danny!!! Was also stopping in one of the rooms - very roomy, comfortable and clean. Great place, brilliant staff, lovely manager (cheers Tracey) and very, very reasonably priced (not many places you can get a 16ys old Lagavulin for less than a tenner!!!). Hopefully see you all again soon, thank you all for an excellent stay!!!

Initial service was fine, but as soon as we had our mains served the service was non existent, no check if the food was alright and no offer of further drinks, and we wanted them. Eventually plates were cleared and we were offered desert menus and no-one came to take our order for over 30 minutes. We were just sat there with no drinks, waiting for a staff member to appear. The service was as bad on our previous visit, but we thought we'd try the place again, we won't be back a third time.

I love this place, it’s so nostalgic for me as this place was my first job in a pub! It’s nice to see how much it’s improved and upgraded, the staff are lovely, especially the lady in the funky dress front of house (who sorted us a better table, away from the family area, hallelujah, thank you so much) and Grace our waitress was perfect, very attentive, polite, just a delight. The food was gooood, we’re still stuffed! We will be back very soon!

This is the first time I've visited the Crewe & Harpur in about a decade, and it was really good to return after a long time away. The food was delicious (especially the Royale Chicken Tikka Masala curry) and the service from Eden was very good despite being very busy. I'd happily return, and I'll make sure it's not so long between visits next time 😁👍

Friendly , helpful staff . Food was presented well and tasted good . Could do with providing takeaway boxes for people who would like to take the remainder home .

Great service and atmosphere was nice enough. My issue was the poor portion sizes. I ordered a trio of meats Sunday roast for around £16 and my son’s dinner was bigger and he is 3. I left feeling disappointed. The roast was nice but this venue needs to be doing better with value for money. Sorry for this negative review as the staff were lovely. I couldn’t even use the 30% off voucher as there was a party of more than 10 on the table. It’s a bit silly that you spend all that money but can’t use the discount.

Service allways seems a bit slow. Good wait between ordering and getting food. Maybe not enough staff. Had pie pastry case was rather hard. Bit disappointing really.

this many 5 stars could be exaggerating but i genuinely cant name a single bad thing about this place. lovely food, classic pub environment, our main server Eden was super nice. jolly good show all around, the triple chocolate brownie is unbeatable.

Lovely meal as usual and felt totally looked after by Tracy and her team. We go here for lots of special occasions and they always look after us.! Food was excellent as per usual.

Amazing Time in the late evening sunshine on Sunday. The Strawberry Patch gin and tonic serve was going down a treat.

Popped in for a pint of the newly listed Lilleys cider, we were served by a young lass, Eleanor, polite, professional and a credit to the team. Cider is amazing by the way 😉

Went today and food was amazing came out super quick too, has the Sunday roast with all the meats staff were really friendly and always had a smile on there faces big respect to everyone that works there

£6.50 for a pint. Ridiculous. Toilets looking shabby, as is the beer garden. Not value for money.

Food is great and it's clean waiting staff are good but the atmosphere isn't great and serving time was staggered so only half got their food at first. I'm hoping it was a bad day because the chef can't be faulted!!

Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food was excellent. Had 3 meals from the lunchtime menu and one from the larger selection. All were cooked to perfection and nicely presented. The young waitress took our order for drinks as soon as we were seated and arrived with them straight away. Very quick service with a pleasant manner. Clare who brought out the meals was exceptionally friendly and had a joke with us each time she appeared.

Lovely place. Especially in the summer months to sit in the beer garden by the river with a cold drinks. Staff friendly and helpful. Clean premises and nice food. Called in for an early lunch as was going to a local beauty area. We were greeted pleasantly and asked about any allergies and dietary requirements and then shown to our table straight away. We chose our drinks straight away and we're given 5 mins to choose our meals. Clare our server was great and treated us really well with a smile and a few laughs. Food was brought out in good time and presented really well and very tasty with decent portion sizes and didn't have room for puddings. Overall a great dining experience. Special mention to Clare for great service and friendly interactions.

We turned up without booking as a party of 11 on a Saturday summer afternoon, found two lovely tables outside by the canal. More importantly, we had an allergy in our party. Tracey and the team were SUPERB in handing this. Not only were they knowledgeable and thorough, but also alert and scrupulous. Couldn't be more impressed with their handling. Thank you.

We were served by Georgia, who was very quick with service, and very helpful with questions. We received a 30% off voucher for mains, which was amazing! The fish was cooked very well, and the cheese and bacon burger was delicious! We will be definitely coming again. There are also three electric car charging spots outside.

Lovely little place, friendly staff

We have been a few times following a day at the races at Donington Park and it's a lovely place to stop off for a bite to eat with friends before a drive home. The food is great value and quality and the service was really good, very attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend, a great location and place to eat.

It was so nice to have a pub meal that was more than just a pub meal. I had the pan fried Sea Bass and it did not disappoint, followed by a very rich caramel tart which was delicious. Staff were friendly helpful and efficient. Would highly recommend The Crew and Harpur

This place is definitely not biker friendly! In fact rude is putting it mildly pulled up on my bike today and a very rude waitress told me to move as I couldn’t park it outside but cars were obviously ok to do so , had the same on a previous visit when the guy behind the bar obviously didn’t want to serve me so I won’t bother again. Plenty of lovely biker friendly pubs around

We came for Sunday lunch and although it was really busy and staff were completely run off their feet we had a waitress called Ellie, she was amazing, she took time to talk us through the menu, continually check on us to ensure everything was ok, nothing was too much for her. The Sunday lunch was amazing as was the apple crumble, such a lovely place and an amazing waitress. Thank you Ellie, we will definitely be back.
