We have never had a bad meal here, we also moor up on their moorings which is great, as they have water and electric which is chargeable. Friendly staff and quick food service ,

A family meal with our 2 young grandsons, good prompt service,& a plateful of good food.!

I chose the minty lamb chops, I found them excellent I asked for them well done how I like them. The other members of the party had chicken, one with Stilton sauce the other with white wine and mushroom sauce and the final member having the all day breakfast. Everything came out together and was hot.

First time eating out here.went as a family of five.plenty of room at table good service and food was nice.good selection on menu and reasonable prices.plenty food .Will return in future

First time visit, but spotted from A50 many times and was curious. Very pleasant pub, part of a small chain, lovely decor, canal side location. Viewed menu, very reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

I had vegan burger and other half had lasagne. Quick service, food good. For dessert had midnight rider other half lemon meringue. Again very quick and tasty.

We used to come to the Ragley every week the ast few weeks the food has gone downhill. Took my parents last week we had the chicken melt and it was overcooked and awful we couldnt eat it, I thought it was a one off but have been this evening 3 out of 5 of us had chicken melt and they were awful. Only one person ate it. Told the server who didn’t seem to care and no offer of a replacement. Very disappointed what’s happening to this lovely pub. I will not be returning was thinking of booking for Christmas but definitely not now! Do not order chicken it’s overcooked dry and tasteless!

A truly awful lunch , the Cajun Chicken was dry , the chips , well not sure what happened to them but I think they were left over from last night , never again

Given it a 4 as I think 3 (average) is a bit harsh…. Probably a 3+ It’s in a great location, the staff are helpful and friendly, the menu is varied ,well cooked and reasonably priced…. Our choice-The special offer of Two 10z rump steaks and a bottle of house wine for £25… yes we upgraded the wine ,but just over £30 …. Great value. Yes it’s looking a bit tired inside, but it’s clean.

Lovely place to stop and have a s einm and something to eat, very friendly staff and very good prices for food and drink we really enjoyed our food and drink we will be going again. We would recommend this place to anyone it's well worth a drive out

Lovely pub next to the canal. Nice patio and garden. Part of the king Henry's taverns chain that specialises in big steaks. Service was great, my steak was perfect, came with chips and peas, couldn't manage the chips after the 24oz rump, wife had lamb chops, said were delicious. Onsite parking, reasonably priced, will definitely go again

This was our first visit to the Boat Stop and what absolute hidden gem. It wasn't too busy when we stopped there for an early lunch. The outside seating area is fantastic with some of it shaded and sheltered from the wind. The site is canal side, but you can't really see that from the tables, mostly comprised of a large grassed area where kids can run around, although disappointingly there is a fence, so no swimming 😂. The staff are attentive and polite. The food is of good quality typical pub fare, the portions are large and the waiting time acceptable. We will be certain to visit again. We've been back several times since this review and the food is still great value and tasty.

Stayed for a pub stopover. Lovely pub by a canal, fields all around. Nice and quiet. Good food, good beer very friendly staff. Car park and surrounding area kept immaculately clean.

As always beautiful steaks, cooked to perfection and a bottle of wine £25. We always add extras, and change chips for Jacket potatoes, peas for salad. Never a problem.

Popped in for a superman's mixed grill and a Middlesbrough palmo. Absolutely top notch fodder and had a special on the mixed grill 25% off so saved a few quid on the bill. Washed it down with a pint of lager shandy 👍

Have to come here every so often to have the steak and ale pie! It's still the best I've tasted. Plenty of seating inside and out and a wide menu selection. Large patio area and lawned rear garden to sit out in the sun with a view of the canal too.

My husband took for my birthday for lunch.. I had a lime and soda and rim of my glass had lipstick stain and I could not drink it . My husband beer glass looked unwashed. Food was plentiful but table very dirty and smelt of spilt coffee... I wouldn't rush back there again

Called in on the off chance and was pleasantly surprised. Not been for a drink there for about 10 years. The bar was clean and there was plenty of choice. It was the outdoor space which really impressed. Lots of space for the young ones to run around in on a nice day. Definitely recommend.

Fajitas were great. Hamburger not so much.

Love this place, the staff are always very friendly, the owner is always about making sure things are running smoothly, there was an issue fir a,short while, they employed a guy that was miserable, but not seen him for a while. Food is good and the outdoor seating is such a bonus. It has a bar upstairs and a balcony, only good thing to say about this place.

After I went downstairs to get the cheese the manager then confronted me infront of lots of other customers and proceeded to tell me that I had shouted at a member of her staff and made her cry. I did not shout at this member of staff she was very smug and rude. I explained I was having this meal with friends as I start treatment for cancer next week and that I was in fact upset by the way I was spoken to. I definitely will not be returning all the staff were really rude and the food was well below average!

Lovely pub in the South Derbyshire countryside. Drinks very reasonably priced, £16.79 for a Birra Moretti, large rose wine and a large house white wine. Food was great too and also reasonably priced. Staff friendly and welcoming.

This place is the BESTPLACE EVER been going here for 20+ years

We had the 2 steaks and a bottle of wine £25. A really good deal, the food was very good steak done just as they were ordered, good quality wine. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Clean and tidy well organised. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Took my son for his birthday, will now make it a regular eating place

Lovely place, excellent service and food, would definitely go back even if it was just for the lemon mirange which is the best I have ever tasted, only 2 slight negatives, the meat while perfectly cooked was just missing a tiny but of flavor and the pepper sauce was a tiny but watery for me, but these are just my preferences, overall though was a lovely meal.

We visited on a Sunday lunch time and to my disappoint they don't serve Sunday dinner!! Not the best. Bang average pub food, which is served very fast after ordering which makes me think its reheated. I had fish and chips and the fish was dry. My partner had the Moby Dick (large) fish and chips and he said the same. One of the waiters dropped some food on the floor when collecting our plates and this was never cleaned up. The saving grace of this place was the location and the grounds it is in. Lots of room for children to play outside.

Table could have been cleaned, portion sizes are small had to go buy my kiddos take away after as they were still hungry the children’s chicken burger was awful my son tried to eat it but just couldn’t and left more than half. The steaks was subpar no seasoning and dry, asked for medium came out well done also had a small piece of bone on my steak. A bit disappointing for the price you pay. Adult portions only had about 10 or so chips as well. My daughter did like the mac n cheese but didn’t like the garlic bread it tasted stale. All in all it was a pretty poor experience for our first visit. I doubt we would go back unless some real changes were made in the kitchen.

Might have been a bad day for the cook/ microwave person. Steak and ale pie had 3 clumps of stewed steak, gravy no ale and a plastic top which they said was pastry but im not so sure and that's it for £13.....GASH!!

To be totally honest. I like the food here. Sometimes it's really nice. Sometimes times, it's not been as good. The last two times recently have been spot on, and I've enjoyed it. Over a lot of years, I've been coming here I find the food can be hit and miss.

Lovely big pub in a beautiful area, the staff are very friendly, the pub is clean and tidy and the food is wonderful. There's plenty of outdoor seating if we ever get sunny weather. I highly recommend a visit

The Ragley Boat Stop has a considerable menu with a variety of options, but unfortunately, the food is quite mediocre given the slightly expensive prices. The interior of the building lacks charm, which is a bit disappointing, and you don't get a view of the canal from the restaurant. However, the staff are friendly and attentive, which made the experience more pleasant. Overall, it's an okay spot, but there's definitely room for improvement.

Great if you want quick food, definitely microwaved. Reason for the 3 star is it wasn't bad nor was it good. We only nipped in as we were passing but wouldn't be returning. Kids pizza's are aldis version of Chicago town mini pizza's which for £4 isn't expensive really. Can't comment on the steaks as we never had one but the rest of the menu are ready made meals.

I'd been recommended this place by a friend. But noticed some negative comments recently. Decided to try it anyway. To be fair, I have no real negative comments. There is a large choice menu, but I'd already decided I was going to have steak. There is a good selection of steaks, and, some bigger options. I went for the 24oz, decided not to push for the 32oz, or the 48oz Titanic lol. The GF had a 12oz. We sat outside in the large decked area, as we took our dog with us. Outside of this area is a large grassed area, with benches for more seating. It wasn't that busy when we were there, more people were inside, as it was a bit cooler outside. We just about finished our meal when it started raining a bit, so we sat under the large umbrella. I woul;d go back again.

My wife and i tried a steak meal deal, more than enough on our plates, realy good value.

Stopped here in our narrowboat and thought we might be charged for moorings. The moorings are free if you spend in the pub/restaurant. This place is huge, and offers an extensive menu.

We went here for Saturday lunch for the first time, it was for a family father's day celebration. The food was excellent, I had the steak and it was perfectly cooked as I requested.

The first time I went to the ragley boat stop pub it was well decorated The staff was professional and the assistant manager was polite and bubbly with a smile The food was to die for a big garden at the back of the pub there is a canal nice and reasonably priced food worth the money i will go back in the future

This is one of our favourite places to eat as a couple and a family, tonight was no exception and a much needed couple of hours together ❤ I had gammon and the other half had steak both equally massive and delicious..super friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere, you can even sit outside and watch the boats go by or a few ducks 😀

Spent a Friday afternoon and evening there with our dog.Beer and food was good and service was excellent.We stayed the night in our campervan, although the A50 is close, it didn't bother us. We will be back again this year to sample their hospitality, again.

A hidden gem of a pub I've been frequenting for 11 years. First time out to it this year - well worth the 5 mile-round diversion because of the broken bridge. The food was excellent, best 16 ounce gammon steak around bar none. Refreshing ice cold beverages. Fast, friendly service. My 16 year old dog is always guaranteed to perk up when we pull up and sees other dogs as well as the neighbouring horses/sheep, etc. A perfect chilled afternoon in the sun well spent on my day off. To the first of hopefully many more trips this summer!

Well organised, great steaks and reasonable prices in fact the 10oz rump steak is the best I have had in a very long time

I have been coming to this place on and off for years and it maintained the same great standard all the time. You can go in for a relaxing drink and all will be rosey, but for me the food is worth travelling for. When I first started going they made a point of saying they were not a restaurant butbman alive they do the best steakes I have had in the world.

The food and atmosphere here is great and the staff are brilliant! However when I visited I think they was understaffed. There was plenty of tables me and my Mrs could go to but we struggled to find one that was cleaned up from previous people having food. The food we had was perfect could not fault it. We would totally go back there again no issues or doubts.

Lovely,clean place with happy, cheerful staff, food was always delicious on every visit, plenty of parking places and best of all, they have areas where you can bring your dog to be at your side throughout your visit.

absolutely nothing to say i’m absolutely disgusted by the way george the assistant mangement treated us after order £50 worth of steak , asked for medium sirloin and came out rare and asked for medium rare fillet and came out basically blue , i was offered no replacement or even to be put back on

We went as a party of 6, 2 of us had eaten our meals before the other 4 meals were brought out !! Food was reasonable,atmosphere good,staff were friendly, overall we were happy.

Lovely pub after a walk over the canal

This place has gone downhill since I last visited. Drink was not full to the top and staff could not swap items to cater for an allergy, but still charged full price. So essentially I paid for items I did not have, and in the end the food was bland anyway. A truly underwhelming experience and I won’t be back any time soon. A shame.

Food here is amazing. The menu has lots of choices and the prices are very reasonable, what was very impressive was how fast the food came out, Everyone's order was correct and everyone's food was hot and cooked perfectly. Definitely found our new regular go to restaurant, really is a gem of a place, could not fault the service and the atmosphere.

Really good value for money but more importantly for us taking our elderly parents out, great friendly service . Very kind and thoughtful staff.

It's a solid 4 stars, food wasn't as good as many moons ago when I last went, but it's still a good meal and pint.

I went to The Ragley Boat after years of not going, my families and my food was great, I will be going again.

Last September we had our 60th wedding anniversary we had 42 family and friends no complaints at all we had a wonderful day.Staff and meal great a good day for all.

Great place all round. Would love this pub as a local but we were only visiting the area.

Not been for a while food and service were perfect. Driveway is abit of a challenge but out of there hands as it's the councils responsibility

I went out with my mil and fil and the food was delicious 🤤 although the ice cream could use a bit more ice cream syrup the whole meal was gorgeous!!

Went to the Ragley Boat on Sunday 25/02/2024 and there was 8 of us…. We had to move tables as where we were sat there was an awful draft from the door…. Bearing in mind there were only 3 other tables occupied throughout, we were taken upstairs to another table (no other people were up there) We ordered our food which eventually came, and the Lamb chops were swimming in fat, two people had the chicken melt, the chicken was EXTREMELY dry, the lasagne came out with no meat in it, the mixed grill all the meat was overcooked.. because we were all upstairs it was like the staff had forgotten about us, also two dishes came out with no cutlery so had to go back downstairs to collect them…. We have made a complaint to the manager and tbh her attitude was appalling… how on earth she has got a job dealing with customers is beyond belief….

Lovely food and friendly staff, the only reason we will not be returning is the state of the road leading to the wragley. Very large potholes getting worse every visit. Definitely back when the potholes are repaired, or failing that we might invest in a land rover !!!

Busy gastropub. It is a pub not a restaurant so bear that in mind. Order food at the bar and bingo, it'll be at your table in no time. Never really had a bad meal here. Steak is good and the fish and chips.

Good Service, wonderful fillet Steak, what more could you ask for

Had been told by a few people to try this out and definitely wasn't disappointed! Starter was the breaded brie with onion chutney, and then for mains we did the deal of 2 meals and a bottle of wine for around 23 pounds - the steak was cooked to perfection and the bottle of wine went down nicely! Was so nice we went back recently again!
