Food was good service good but staff need customer care training and chef needs presentation training. We have been back several times and it has improved massively friendly staff lovely food

Staff attuide is shocking.Paid on card that said approved on the terminal to be told rudely we don't take American Express. When I tired to ask about this I was told to not talk back to her. I am the customer and expect to be talked to in the same manor I talk to staff. Truly shocking

Today I sat outside on the sunny patio. With tasty cold lager. Lots of diners both inside and out.

Really disappointed with the food yesterday.Portions were very small.Steaks over cooked and burnt on the outside.Barely a table spoon of peas and you could count the chips.Burger was nice but again ,very small portions of peas and chips.Fish meal , again small portions and over cooked.We have visited many times but will be taking a break until quality improves.The ales were good.

Genuine value for money. Big portions and big steaks.....the meat is lets say a little on the tougher side but you don't mind because of the price and it is tasty. We're probably talking old dairy cow instead of best in show bull if you get me. Where this place lets itself down is with cheap condiments...... everyone hates those little packets of brown sauce and crap mustard. Take your own Colemans and you'll have a much better meal than using that nasty American tasting stuff they provide. Service is quick and friendly and well worth a visit EDIT..... thanks for your reply but your meat has always been on the tougher side....I am a regular over many years and compared to the likes of Miller and Carter your meat is cheap and chewy..... but like I said value for money. If you can command discounted rates like you say then why don't you supply good condiments.....the waste from the unused individual packets thrown on a plate must cost a fortune....why not use catering Heinz Ketchup and Daddies sauce....it's hardly going to damage your bottom line and maybe just maybe source some better 30day aged meat instead of the old Friesian cows you're using now 😃

We were there for a meal on Mother’s Day. We were told the specials meal my dad ordered was not available, so he chose something else. What was brought to our table was the special my dad ordered plus his second option, my mums food not ordered. We were told it was her special not available, although we got the garlic bread that came with it!! No replacement offered unless we paid for an extra meal, as this one had already been cooked!!! No refund, no apology!! My mum hated her meal, the chicken was like rubber. My mum left very upset, she’s been unwell recently and was reluctant to go out initially and this has set her back. We won’t return and will put others off of using your establishment.

I come weekly, excellent food and good value for money, good service, the rump steak is the best I've ever had, cuts like butter, no prolonged chewing. Deserves alot more as a pub, the decor does not do the place justice atall, this pub deserves a makeover.

Just popped in as i had a pint at somewhere else which had lots of kids. It was quite late ordered a 6oz rump. For £6.49. Honestly it was great. Cooked medium, plenty of chips and peas. Staff were very friendly. It was quiet but i think location and time of year might be the factor. But its defo worth a visit just for the food. Very cheap for what you get and very tasty imo. And theres a canal just beyond past the beergarden but it was too dark to see anything

Nice friendly pub. Budget food menu offers excellent value for your money. Wish more pubs were as budget friendly as this. Top marks from me.

Excellent evening out for a party of 12. Service was quick and very good. I had jalapeno pepper starter which was really nice and chicken fajitas for main which were delicious - best fajitas I have had anywhere. Alabama fudge cake for dessert - also excellent. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Plenty of parking spaces. I would highly recommend this place and we will return.

Visited for Saturday lunch with family members. All the food was available and was quickly served. All were tasty and cooked well and hot when delivered. Good selection of food.

We love going to the Ragley boat stop and go on a regular basis, it is a nice clean place with great food and a nice friendly atmosphere, and a good selection of drinks, highly recommended , plenty of out door seating for for warm days , we give five stars.

Great priced, tasty food with a nice atmosphere. Only potential negative is how you have to order at the bar or on the app, but personally didn’t find it a problem at all!

Never been here by it lovely pub, great food and better by the fact we could bring our dogs in to sit with us as we were visiting Derby and had them with us!!

The food is nothing but terrible and over priced. Ordered one of the t bone steaks medium rare and I was unable to eat it.. and neither was my dog. Incredibly oily and looked and tasted like it had been cooked 3 days prior. Upon complaining the staff said there was nothing they could do and it hadn’t been cooked in oil so it must have been the blood. (No blood on the plate as it was so overcooked) onion rings nearly raw and chips also raw and undercooked. Staff said they would mention it to the butcher.. not sure what they have done wrong. Staff refused a refund. Please avoid.

Awful experience today quantity and quality gone downhill even plates are smaller seemed short staffed and wasn’t asked if everything was ok with our meal!!!.Our plates still hadn’t been cleared on our departure .So I contacted head office only to be treated like a naughty schoolgirl for not bringing it up with the staff on the day Very odd customer service indeed!!!!! Won’t be back anytime soon

With this being local to us we have been meaning to pop in for a while. it was a Saturday tea time so we was expecting it to be full but to our surprise it was not they have massive car park. it looks very very nice from the outside but the only fault we found that it was very rustic & tired inside and one of our pet hates plug sockets being painted. staff was 100% could not fault them. the food was nice ! price was about average ! and we loved the open fire. we would return if we was passing.

This used to be a regular place to eat out for me and family, but the prices have risen steeply and the quality of the food has gotten much worse. My son and I both ordered mixed grills at over £20 each, there were 3 average quality sausages and a large piece of liver (both the cheapest components of the minimum 908g meal), the lamb chop was tiny and the pork steak wasnt much bigger. As a butcher before i retired I could see that the Gammon was from the top of the shank, so is not a steak, and the "rump" steak was taken from the cap area and i couldnt even cut mine with a steak knife it was so full of gristle. I did complain and was offered a free drink, but didnt accept as I didnt want to seem like I was after something for nothing. In conclusion, they are serving sub-standard meat at full price, and then they are cooking it until it is dry and further inedible. Sad as I dont get to go out too often in the current economic climate, and doubt I will go here again. Staff were fairly friendly though which is about the best positive comment i can make.

A family get together for 16. We had a table upstairs, well done to all the staff, coordinating 16 menu choices and serving the meals all together is so well done and appreciated. Thank you Ragley Boat staff.

Great food, I can recommend the beef and the steaks but no bar service upstairs which meant we had to go downstairs to order food and buy drinks and carry them upstairs

Lovely place to stop and have something to eat, very friendly staff and very good prices for food and drink we really enjoyed our food and drink we will be going again. We would recommend this place to anyone it's well worth a drive out

A party of 19 held our Christmas meal today, the tables were set nicely and the service and food were excellent, we can definitely recommend

Atmosphere and food was great, but the service was sometimes a little slow on getting people's food at the same time.

We had a great Christmas party celebration, the only thing I felt was lacking was the Christmas atmosphere. Food was good, service was excellent.

My partner and I regularly go to The Ragley Boat Stop. It never fails to deliver on quality and the portions are big. I had to try the Festive Tower Burger today. Wow, it was lush. Beefburger, turkey breast, stuffing, brie bites, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pig in blanket, cranberry sauce and chips. I would recommend this but don't eat for a few hours beforehand.

We have never had a bad meal here, we also moor up on their moorings which is great, as they have water and electric which is chargeable. Friendly staff and quick food service ,

A family meal with our 2 young grandsons, good prompt service,& a plateful of good food.!

I chose the minty lamb chops, I found them excellent I asked for them well done how I like them. The other members of the party had chicken, one with Stilton sauce the other with white wine and mushroom sauce and the final member having the all day breakfast. Everything came out together and was hot.

First time visit, but spotted from A50 many times and was curious. Very pleasant pub, part of a small chain, lovely decor, canal side location. Viewed menu, very reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

I had vegan burger and other half had lasagne. Quick service, food good. For dessert had midnight rider other half lemon meringue. Again very quick and tasty.

A truly awful lunch , the Cajun Chicken was dry , the chips , well not sure what happened to them but I think they were left over from last night , never again

We used to come to the Ragley every week the ast few weeks the food has gone downhill. Took my parents last week we had the chicken melt and it was overcooked and awful we couldnt eat it, I thought it was a one off but have been this evening 3 out of 5 of us had chicken melt and they were awful. Only one person ate it. Told the server who didn’t seem to care and no offer of a replacement. Very disappointed what’s happening to this lovely pub. I will not be returning was thinking of booking for Christmas but definitely not now! Do not order chicken it’s overcooked dry and tasteless!

Given it a 4 as I think 3 (average) is a bit harsh…. Probably a 3+ It’s in a great location, the staff are helpful and friendly, the menu is varied ,well cooked and reasonably priced…. Our choice-The special offer of Two 10z rump steaks and a bottle of house wine for £25… yes we upgraded the wine ,but just over £30 …. Great value. Yes it’s looking a bit tired inside, but it’s clean.

Lovely pub next to the canal. Nice patio and garden. Part of the king Henry's taverns chain that specialises in big steaks. Service was great, my steak was perfect, came with chips and peas, couldn't manage the chips after the 24oz rump, wife had lamb chops, said were delicious. Onsite parking, reasonably priced, will definitely go again

This was our first visit to the Boat Stop and what absolute hidden gem. It wasn't too busy when we stopped there for an early lunch. The outside seating area is fantastic with some of it shaded and sheltered from the wind. The site is canal side, but you can't really see that from the tables, mostly comprised of a large grassed area where kids can run around, although disappointingly there is a fence, so no swimming 😂. The staff are attentive and polite. The food is of good quality typical pub fare, the portions are large and the waiting time acceptable. We will be certain to visit again. We've been back several times since this review and the food is still great value and tasty.

As always beautiful steaks, cooked to perfection and a bottle of wine £25. We always add extras, and change chips for Jacket potatoes, peas for salad. Never a problem.

Popped in for a superman's mixed grill and a Middlesbrough palmo. Absolutely top notch fodder and had a special on the mixed grill 25% off so saved a few quid on the bill. Washed it down with a pint of lager shandy 👍

Have to come here every so often to have the steak and ale pie! It's still the best I've tasted. Plenty of seating inside and out and a wide menu selection. Large patio area and lawned rear garden to sit out in the sun with a view of the canal too.

My husband took for my birthday for lunch.. I had a lime and soda and rim of my glass had lipstick stain and I could not drink it . My husband beer glass looked unwashed. Food was plentiful but table very dirty and smelt of spilt coffee... I wouldn't rush back there again

Called in on the off chance and was pleasantly surprised. Not been for a drink there for about 10 years. The bar was clean and there was plenty of choice. It was the outdoor space which really impressed. Lots of space for the young ones to run around in on a nice day. Definitely recommend.

Love this place, the staff are always very friendly, the owner is always about making sure things are running smoothly, there was an issue fir a,short while, they employed a guy that was miserable, but not seen him for a while. Food is good and the outdoor seating is such a bonus. It has a bar upstairs and a balcony, only good thing to say about this place.

After I went downstairs to get the cheese the manager then confronted me infront of lots of other customers and proceeded to tell me that I had shouted at a member of her staff and made her cry. I did not shout at this member of staff she was very smug and rude. I explained I was having this meal with friends as I start treatment for cancer next week and that I was in fact upset by the way I was spoken to. I definitely will not be returning all the staff were really rude and the food was well below average

Lovely pub in the South Derbyshire countryside. Drinks very reasonably priced, £16.79 for a Birra Moretti, large rose wine and a large house white wine. Food was great too and also reasonably priced. Staff friendly and welcoming.

This place is the BESTPLACE EVER been going here for 20+ years

We had the 2 steaks and a bottle of wine £25. A really good deal, the food was very good steak done just as they were ordered, good quality wine. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Clean and tidy well organised. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

Lovely place, excellent service and food, would definitely go back even if it was just for the lemon mirange which is the best I have ever tasted, only 2 slight negatives, the meat while perfectly cooked was just missing a tiny but of flavor and the pepper sauce was a tiny but watery for me, but these are just my preferences, overall though was a lovely meal.

We visited on a Sunday lunch time and to my disappoint they don't serve Sunday dinner!! Not the best. Bang average pub food, which is served very fast after ordering which makes me think its reheated. I had fish and chips and the fish was dry. My partner had the Moby Dick (large) fish and chips and he said the same. One of the waiters dropped some food on the floor when collecting our plates and this was never cleaned up. The saving grace of this place was the location and the grounds it is in. Lots of room for children to play outside.

Table could have been cleaned, portion sizes are small had to go buy my kiddos take away after as they were still hungry the children’s chicken burger was awful my son tried to eat it but just couldn’t and left more than half. The steaks was subpar no seasoning and dry, asked for medium came out well done also had a small piece of bone on my steak. A bit disappointing for the price you pay. Adult portions only had about 10 or so chips as well. My daughter did like the mac n cheese but didn’t like the garlic bread it tasted stale. All in all it was a pretty poor experience for our first visit. I doubt we would go back unless some real changes were made in the kitchen.

Might have been a bad day for the cook/ microwave person. Steak and ale pie had 3 clumps of stewed steak, gravy no ale and a plastic top which they said was pastry but im not so sure and that's it for £13.....GASH!!

To be totally honest. I like the food here. Sometimes it's really nice. Sometimes times, it's not been as good. The last two times recently have been spot on, and I've enjoyed it. Over a lot of years, I've been coming here I find the food can be hit and miss.

Lovely big pub in a beautiful area, the staff are very friendly, the pub is clean and tidy and the food is wonderful. There's plenty of outdoor seating if we ever get sunny weather. I highly recommend a visit

The Ragley Boat Stop has a considerable menu with a variety of options, but unfortunately, the food is quite mediocre given the slightly expensive prices. The interior of the building lacks charm, which is a bit disappointing, and you don't get a view of the canal from the restaurant. However, the staff are friendly and attentive, which made the experience more pleasant. Overall, it's an okay spot, but there's definitely room for improvement.

Great if you want quick food, definitely microwaved. Reason for the 3 star is it wasn't bad nor was it good. We only nipped in as we were passing but wouldn't be returning. Kids pizza's are aldis version of Chicago town mini pizza's which for £4 isn't expensive really. Can't comment on the steaks as we never had one but the rest of the menu are ready made meals.

My wife and i tried a steak meal deal, more than enough on our plates, realy good value.

I'd been recommended this place by a friend. But noticed some negative comments recently. Decided to try it anyway. To be fair, I have no real negative comments. There is a large choice menu, but I'd already decided I was going to have steak. There is a good selection of steaks, and, some bigger options. I went for the 24oz, decided not to push for the 32oz, or the 48oz Titanic lol. The GF had a 12oz. We sat outside in the large decked area, as we took our dog with us. Outside of this area is a large grassed area, with benches for more seating. It wasn't that busy when we were there, more people were inside, as it was a bit cooler outside. We just about finished our meal when it started raining a bit, so we sat under the large umbrella. I woul;d go back again.
