Nice coffee but super duper slow, especially for a cafe close to a treinstation I think they need to up their speed. A coffee shouldn’t take 8 mins really, as being second in line

I like the deliberately spartan appearance of this establishment As I arrived one member of staff was dancing behind the till -this made me laugh and seemed in keeping with the ambience I had a coffee and checked out the menu. food is reasonably priced and was nutritious and tasty The place is laptop friendly with free wifi

I really like the brick house, always good food (don’t be late, often sold out by 2pm) and very good coffee. A little pricey but I can live with that. The service is adequate, although a bit up and down. Some staff are great, & some Beavis and butthead types seem like they’d rather not be there. My main gripe is the acoustics. As a parent I understand the reality that children make noise and I don’t mind that. It actually makes me smile. However, the music choice always seems a bit ‘aggressive’ and a bit loud. With hard surfaces everywhere, this often escalates to an unbearable din. I definitely don’t want to lose this cafe - I just wonder if some clever soft surfaces or acoustic tiles would make it a much calmer place? I hope so.

I love independent cafes, bars and restaurants - I always love to try new places. The site is Peckham has a great look but that is all I can say which is positive. Very poor customer service, the lady who served me couldn’t be bothered (very negative attitude) and £6.50 for an overpriced sandwich with little filling. Better value and customer service at Greggs down the round. Cash only which I don’t mind however a smile is free. The only plus is that the bread was nice enough however I will not return or recommend.

I went to this place in Peckham at just before 10am today. 3 staff behind the till all ignoring me. Sour faced miserable people who cannot be bothered to look up, smile or acknowledge the presence of a customer. I eventually asked the male waiter if the chicken sandwich, as advertised on the blackboard, was available. No it wasn’t ready for 5-10 mins. I have a train to catch. I said it’s advertised on your board. He sarcastically responded we wouldn’t wipe it off just because it’s not ready. How rude and offensive. Peckham is a friendly place with many places to eat where you are not insulted. Avoid this caff.

We heard about this place via a friend of a friend who had raved about this place making their own bread and serving lovely vegan food- brunch, lunch and yummy cakes and cookies- everything made on site. So we arrived around midday and the place was absolutely heaving with families, couples and friends - fab atmosphere. There was a huge set of shelves with all types of flavoured breads (even chocolate sourdough). Very long sharing tables which didn’t seem to bother anyone. We decided to go shopping and pop back after the lunch time rush. We arrived back around 3ish when although still very busy we managed to get a table as some people were just leaving. We had coffee (cappuccino and Americans) and chocolate and coffee cake and chocolate cookies - all made on the premises - it was lovely and the staff were great too (friendly, not like Gail’s), the only downside was that they had sold all the bread ☹️ This has given us a really good reason to return and we will very soon.

Every time I visit London, as I did last week for a three- day convention, I always love to visit the local cafes or restaurants and enjoy the healthy quality of their menus. So my son who is like me took me to the Brick House which he had been to before and enjoyed. There are a number of plusses about this cafe and possibly the biggest is their only use of sourdough bread. When my wife had cancer she was told to only eat sourdough bread and no other type of bread by the expert dieticians. I also had mashed aubergine and two poached eggs plus kale. The sort of breakfast I would cook at home in Ireland. The place was pretty crowded and many of the customers of varying ages were using their laptops. I said to my son are they coming here to have breakfast and work from " home"? He thought they were mainly, and I thought that's nice. I also thought the decor was extremely sparse. It reminded me of a large barn without the straw and the animals. I personally, as an artist, was a bit shocked by the visual boringness of the place. My son pointed out that most there were on their laptops, and would not even notice the surroundings. Each to their own! I finally thought that the price was expensive for what I had. But I tend to think that about most of the prices in London eateries. I suppose the only answer is to move to, or live in, a less expensive place, like Cork, where I live, and am now back in. Oh well. Off to breakfast in Tony's Bistro which is about half the price but not nearly as healthy!

Came here on tripadvisor recommendations when visiting Dalwich. Nice hipster-vibe cafe. Had cappuccinos which were very good (slightly bitter and not too milky, just as i like them). I got a middle eastern salad which was really really good but the portion size was so small (and it was expensive) and the presentation (or lack of) was laughable - more just a scoop of it dumped on my plate. Pretty disappointing. My bf got a salad sandwich which was simple but very nice. To top it off, we got a sourdough cinnamon “donut” and holy moly couldve smashed that in no time!! Would go back here just for that!!

No fue ninguna molestia y todo sirvió muy bien.Estoy buscando volver por la noche para nuestra próxima visita.

I had an unpleasant experience at Bar 31 on 18/10/2024. I went there to meet my friend and was waiting for her to finish her work so we could enjoy some drinks . So I took a sit to make sure my friend see where I’m as later we planned to move inside. A lady in a red outfit approached me to ask if I wanted any drinks. I explained that I was waiting for my friend. However, after 20 minutes, she returned and told me that I couldn't sit there without ordering something. I replied that I wouldn’t be drinking anything until my friend arrived. She then gave me a look that made me feel unwelcome, so I decided to wait for my friend outside. We eventually went to another bar, which was a much better experience. Never come back there and wont recommend on my social media.

Wonderful service. Perfect work atmosphere. The quiet rustle of trains above my head was the wind beneath my wings as I trekked through the working day. Cheeky wine at lunch (don’t tell the boss!) had my buzzing. The friendly staff behind the counter had me feeling welcome and seen - they complimented my wolf cut! Good bit of banter that. Just off a tangent from the high street is a lovely location. Not too busy but enough wandering souls and stories to reinforce the sense of community. Sometimes whenlife quietens down i’m reminded of the lonely nights i endured when my brother ran away with my husband back to Panama. So that’s a bonus! Overall, great time would recommend and will be returning. P.s. tuna melt was a bit dense laid down a brick, would personally give it 3-5 working days.
