Staff friendly enough but waiting time to be served breakfast was shocking, 30 mins from order, then what was served was sent straight back as not edible. While waiting to speak to server heard chef/cook having a major grump. Saving grace was I got refund.

Used this pub for two nights as was staying in the adjacent Premier Inn. If I stay again I’ll be venturing out. Here’s a short summary: - kids of staff running around and screaming. - Also staff’s kids running in and out of the kitchen! - staff arguing and swearing at each other - one staff member had a go at me for using the coffee machine that his colleague told me to use - staff generally grumpy and miserable - place is filthy - last orders called at 9.45pm I gave it a 2 rather than a 1 because the food isn’t that bad. It’ll never win an award but it comes out quick and it’s hot!

Basic to say the least, could be nice but the finer details that could elevate this place are ignored like sticky tables, cobwebs on the walls and ceilings, completely neglected garden and green area strewn with litter, overgrown plants and broken planters. Food is very standard and basic and the ambiance is virtually killed by hoards of screaming kids everywhere.

Booked a table for 6pm? 2 adults and 2 children. Ordered steaks for adults and 2 kids meals. One of the steaks was practically inedible owing to the amount of fat running through it. When complained, server said he would tell the chef. Nothing further heard. Because the fatty steak was inedible, wife was still hungry and ordered desert. Was charged £5 49. Menu price was £2.49 but, apparently, you can only get it at that price, if you order it at time of ordering main meal. After ordering main meal children wanted to go in play area which was charged at £4.50 per child. The table had been booked for 6pm so, it was about 6.10pm when they went in. After 2 mins they came out to eat their starter and then went back in for 4/5 mins before coming out to eat main meal. After main meal they went in for 3/4 mins before desert arrived and they came out again. After desert they went back for a couple of mins and then had to leave because playp area closed at 7pm. They therefore got about 11 mins play for £4.50 each.

We sat at table one. The place is filthy. The radiator behind my chair was splattered with food and drink and the carpet was that dirty there was thick black sticky marks on it. The staff need some serious customer service training. I ordered 2 children’s meals, starters, mains and drinks, yet the girl serving me didn’t think to put them through as a meal deal 🙄 We ordered a coke and got given a really small glass of coke, so when we ordered another we were given an empty glass and told it was refillable?! Why were we not given this option the first time?! I asked one of the girls for some napkins and was told to wait a minute, I waited 5 then saw there was a pile right next to her so I just grabbed some. Why she couldn’t do this I do not know. I have worked in customer service for over 15 years most of the staff didn’t have a clue, they just gave you a vacant look when you spoke to them. The only one that seemed to know what was going on was the manager! The food was ok for good that had definitely just been heated up or taken out of the freezer. Definitely would not be visiting again the whole place needs a deep clean and the chairs and carpet need replacing. The disabled toilet where I took my little one to change his nappy was dirty and the fan was clearly broken the noise it was making which scared him.

Stayed at the next door premier Inn on Sunday 25th July and booked a meal deal as we often do when staying in a Premier, Our evening meal exceeded our expectations by a country mile the quality of food and service from Taz and Adam along with the whole team was first class they are all a credit to Whitbread.Unfortunately Breakfast was a whole different story with staff who did not want to be in work, a manageress who took our order and managed to get mine totally wrong , when I sent it back the same plate with items taken away and other items added was returned to me by one of the staff with the comment your egg will just be another 5 minutes sir, hence my breakfast was stone cold, the duty manageress even asked just as we were leaving if all was well but could manage no more than a sorry about that when I told her what I have written above, never have we experienced such a difference on two shifts at the same restaurant

Stayed at the prem inn for a few weeks & opted in for food here. On this occasion we had to pay as soon as we walked in when other days we paid at the end. Others while we was sitting there waiting for food paid at the end. Very strange. On this day after we had paid we was then told 15 mins in, that the burners wasn’t working and we could only have scrambled eggs. Food then took 25 mins to come out. Food takes to long to come out in the mornings. We had a very rude waitress with no manners serving us with blue green hair. When food came out it wasn’t what we asked for & missing portions of food.I asked for 3 scrambled eggs, 2 mushrooms only received 1 of of each. My colleague had 1 portion of scrambled egg that wasn’t even enough for half a slice of toast. I asked the watress to be told (im not the chef)Then another lady came over and said what’s the problem so I explained to be then told that she was out side crying because of the way we spoke to her and we should not speak to her in that mannor and she has a duty of care for her staff. She did offer us more mushrooms and scrambled eggs but we just didn’t have the time to wait.So I then asked for my money back as we was being accused of something that we didn’t do. I understand that they they were short staffed but that is no reason to be accused of speaking to the staff in a bad manner. The whole time was nearly an hour and we was late for work. No ambient music here and no morning news on tv. The card machine always playing up for payments that also takes time. If your eating here make sure you get up really early before you start work of you will be late. This is my personal experience and others may have different opinions, we will be going more local for a speedy service for half the price.

We came to have some drinks and light snacks on 22nd June at approx 3pm, the venue was very quiet. We ordered starters/sides instead of main meals etc. We ordered one of the ‘trash can nachos’, Mac and cheese, mozzarella bites, chicken goujons. The food arrived, we got 2 plates of nachos (served on a small side plate) about 7 nachos triangles on each. We began to eat as we thought the rest of the food would be on its way, the waiter came over and said he had rung through 2 nachos and missed off the chicken and went to take one of the nachos away as my partner was eating it!! I found this really rude, and in this situation he should have left the nachos and corrected his mistake. We actually thought this was one portion split between two plates to share! I said we would pay for the second nachos. We eventually got the chicken and 20 mins later got the mozzarella bites. The nachos are not good value for the size costing £11.53 for two very small portions. To have our food almost taken off us mid meal, a long wait and food missed we received no discount etc. Won’t be returning.

It is hard to believe how bad this was. Service varied from barely adequate to abysmal. We accept that with current restrictions that changes have to be made, such as checking in, staying at the table and that the menu has been seriously reduced - but how on earth do you justify the truly awful service.Having checked in and been shown to a table in the bar area, we were told that someone would take our order for drinks. We waited over 10 minutes before someone came, even though we could see them chatting away to each other, and they could see us. Same in the dining area, where you are given a table and then left. Hard to believe that the staff were over-stretched - more that they couldn't care.Never ever had such bad service in a Premier Inn restaurant.

We visited the Queen Victoria Brewers Fayre in Burnley today. The covid measures in place were the best we’ve seen since reopening. The one way system was extremely well organised, hand sanitiser was readily available and the staff were fantastic. They were efficient, polite, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Well done to Emily, Shannon and Dylan, you are a credit to the company.

I met with Lucy Swift in response to a complaint. I was very impressed with her and her team that evening. However, several weeks ago I had and very different experience from a different manager and s staff team. I had been expected to be seated outside at the only table without an umbrella and it was torrential rain that evening. The manager of the Premier Inn where I had been staying was on the same site in Burnley and he had booked me a table. The manager on duty that day said that she didn't like my attitude and walked away. I therefore complained about that incident to Brewers Fayre. 3 weeks later I was invited by Lucy Swift to come and discuss my experience. Lucy and the staff were very good they treated me well and with respect and I also observed that they were very respectful and professional with other diners that evening./ This was a complete contrast to 3 weeks earlier when In was expected to sit outside in torrential rain at the only table without an umbrella. I would recommend Lucy Swift and her team and go there again bit definitely not the one 3 weeks earlier. PS the rating below are for the occasion when Lucy Swift and her crew were on duty but it would be completely opposite for the experience I had 3 weeks earlier with a different manager.

Very slow service. We came in for breakfast last Monday morning we arrived approx 10:25 we wasn’t aware they stopped serving food at 10:30 I said it’s not a problem if we are too late but the member of staff said I can put your order through if you order straight away. We did order straight away at the bar, my partner wanted the full English with everything apart from tomato. We also told the member of staff what drinks we would like as part of the deal. There was only us and another 2 tables in the restaurant. We sat down, 15 mins later still no drinks, a manager sorted this out for us as it had been forgotten. Our food arrived but no cutlery we waited another 10 mins for cutlery to arrive by this time food cold, my partner had no black pudding or hash browns on hers so I just shared mine in the end as we had waited long enough. We would have liked another drink refill but never got asked. The scrambled eggs were watery. I wouldn’t visit again as the service was rushed and careless. For almost £20 I felt ripped off, didn’t really get what we paid for and didn’t have any options for other items included in the all you can eat deal. I would have preferred the staff to say they had stopped serving breakfast and I had gone elsewhere and received better service.

What can I say? We have been here many times. Always enjoyed it and it’s had a good atmosphere. Where has that gone to? The atmosphere and feel to the place was awful. Staff were friendly, although one lady did keep wiping her nose with her hand. Due to the current circumstances with covid, it’s not a good habit to have. I looked at the menus and thought the prices had risen since we last visited. I was right but the potion sizes had also shrunk. The food was ok but the potions were poor for the price. £12 for a chicken burger, for £12 I’d expect a little side salad at least. We won’t be returning as there are much nicer places that are much better value elsewhere in the area.

I never leave reviews, only read. However I strongly believe all the hardworking staff deserve one.Myself, mum and brother came here for a late Sunday lunch. For starters, It’s a lot different here to what we’re use to. Of course they have the usual one way system, hand sanitiser stations etc etc. But it is now table service so you’re free to sit back and wait for your order to be taken, as well as take advantage of the waitress service. One thing that we noticed was just how hardworking the staff were. They were quick, polite and smiley. Drinks were brought to our table fast. A quick order for food was taken which I will go into more detail about. When finished the bill brought over to us without having to ask and wait. Nothing was ever too much. Now the food. We had a traditional Sunday roast and it was tremendous. The roast potatoes were cooked to perfection, yorkshire puddings light and fluffy, and the meat was cooked beautifully. Sauces also brought to your table alongside cutlery wrapped in napkins. It is fair to say we had one of the best experiences and couldn’t find any faults even if we tried. Thank you to all at Queen Victoria for such a delicious meal and fab service! We’ll see you next time!

Food was taken and brought right away in a reasonable time and by a young male.. believe his badge said Ryan... the food was lovely by far the best breakfast I have had in a while. Ryan was lovely asking if everything was fine and if we would like more food or drinks. Fair enough it’s the eat out to help out government scheme but that does not give Queen Vic the right to drastically reduce portion sizes. We have dined here before and ordered exactly the same meals. The mega mixed grill this time came on a standard plate, last time a much bigger plate, the tikka masala curry sauce was only one third full in the balti dish. Very disappointing they get the money back from the government anyway so why reduce portion sizes. Will definitely not be returning here. Get yourself to whetherspoons the best Chicken Tikka Masala Curry by a mile. And it’s a lot cheaper. Shame on you Queen Vic.

I know it covid 19 and the buffet works different as food has to be brought to you from the kitchen. But. It was either seriously understaffed or just bad service. After have booked a table for 9.30 came in 5 min. Early had to wait those 5 minutes without acknowligment while someone just before us came in without booking got seated straight away. Till we were able to be seated. Finally at the table 15 minutes it took for them to come round (after asking them at the bar) to come and take at least our drink order. We've ordered the food straight away as well. Another 20 to 25 minutes our food finally came through. Sausages been cut open and my scrambled eggs where full of water. Once finished my kids wanted some extra croissants but we couldn't get them as the kitchen closed at 10.30. If they would help quicker my kids actually would have had a breakfast that filled them. I know kids eat free but I paid full price. No more breakfast for me there.

This pub is dangerous with a dis-regard to precautions for Covid 19They seem to have a complete careless way of handling the government guidelines for control of people in a bar.Booked on the internet so they had my contact details, but are other people supplying details or give true details...maybe.On arrival our booking was checked and we were shown to our table. Given the drink and food menu, and told EVERYTHING would be served to our table, food and drink and not to walk around unless going to the toilet. The menu prices have all been raised by at least a £1, since March, and the choice now is not very good compared with other pubs. Anyway I chose fish and chips at £10.49 my wife lasagne at £9.79. Nothing great about value for money. Our drinks were a small pepsi at £3.59, and a large lime juice and soda at £1.20, remember with addition drinks we would have to pay the same price.Food arrived, which was only luke warm but eatable. Then the show begins.....OTHER PEOPLE come into the pub again they order their food and receive empty glasses The reason why...they all walk around at their own time going to two drink machines. One serving tea and coffee, the other soft drinks, both machines only 2 foot apart And people are complete strangers, no masks , touching each other and handling cups and saucers which anybody can touch and help themselves too The best part is they can go for UNLIMITED REFILLS for the one charge We are told we have to remain seated and drinks will be served to the table. So this pub offers you the choice. Stay at the table and pay £3.79 as per the instruction sheet OR pay once for UNLIMITED soft drinks and maybe get Covid 19. The choice is yours? This was happening the whole 45 minutes we we in the pub.People walked around helping themselves to drinks and walking back any way they wanted. Is it any wonder the Covid rates in East Lancashire are rising?Over 230 people have died so far and the area has been place in special measures last weekSo we remain seated and ask for the bill. The credit card is used, I agree the amount £12.03 and then enter my pin.The an additional 25pence for charity appears asking me if I wish to pay ....for charity.......FOR what?which charity? may I suggest the NHS.... for you supplying Covid 19 patients? Will any balance sheet be published to show where the money is going?During my working life I was tasked with having to write Risk Assessments sheets. Is this pub prepared to show me the sheet BEFORE you re-opened after the lockdown? Also may I see the training instructions for the staff before you opened again|?Or do such documents not exist? So sit down follow the instructions or get yourselves a Coke and Covid... I leave it up to you.Other pub reports will follow this month

My 6yr old daughter decided the day before we visited, that she would like to visit the Queen Victoria with some friends for her birthday. I called to make a booking and asked if we could reserve a table in the children's area, but they said that this wasn't possible as no reservations were made in that area. They booked me a table in the main restaurant which I was happy with. We visited the day after, and when we went into the play area for the children, we met Claire, Libby and their Manager (didn't catch her name unfortunately). They asked if we were there for a special occasion, which I explained it was, and they recommended we went for the Children's Party package option. They explained this would both make the event very special for my daughter, and also save us some money. The event was excellent, my daughter and her friends enjoyed a nice meal, followed by ice cream and then some cupcakes with candles in for us to sing her Happy Birthday. They then played 'pass the parcel' in the disco room, AND received party bags and balloon. Claire and Libby were the most helpful staff I have ever come across and they made it a truly great birthday. They really didn't need to be so helpful, but they went above and beyond for us. I rarely review anything, but I couldn't not after receiving such wonderful customer service. In addition, the Manager was so helpful as one of the children we had brought was gluten intolerant, and she helped make the meals bespoke so that she could have something as similar as possible to the rest of the children so she didn't feel left out. Finally, Claire and Libby were insistant that my husband and I sat down and enjoyed some food, whilst they managed the children in the play area. They really helped take the pressure off, and reassured us constantly that the children were enjoying themselves. A HUGE thank you to Claire, Libby and the Manager for all your efforts, they were truly appreciated and I will be recommending the Queen Victoria as a birthday venue to all my friends and family.

Fabulous Christmas day meal at the Queen Victoria Pub. We had booked 3 months previously and thought that £43.99 was reasonable for the luxury of not having to cook a full Christmas lunch ourselves. We were a party of 6 adults and we appreciated the fact that our table was in a quieter part of the restaurant area. The service was exceptionally quick and our starters were brought directly to the table. We liked the fact that each table was personally escorted to the carvery area to ensure that there were never any queues for the main courses. We were all so full after the starters and mains that we struggled to eat our dessert courses. The best bit was that we didnt have to clear away the table and wash up!Thank you to the management and all the staff for making Christmas Day lunch so very relaxed and calm.

We visit this place on a regular basis as a meeting point with friends prior to football at Turf Moor Burnley. We went yesterday as family of 3 almost 2 hours prior to kickoff to allow us to have a meal with time to spare.

We took our mindees to the queen vic for a good run round to burn off some winter energy! We like this place because its compact and you can see all the children and where they are up to. We're childminders and spart from them not offering any special rates for taking several children at once, we have no complaints. Staff are always polite, and if you fancy s coffee, you can get a refillable one at a good price. We dont do soft play too often, but will visit again.

I love it here. It is amazing. There is a great range of food for relatively cheap prices. There is also a fantastic play area for the kids. It is a shame I cannot go in there anymore. The service is great and it has friendly staff. It is great for families. I would highly recommend it to all.

Visited November 30 around 5pm. The restaurant was quite busy and we waited around 10 minutes to be seated. There were 4 of us, two grandparents and two granddaughters. 3 of us chose the festive menu, but on ordering were told that there was no turkey left !.. We chose alternatives plus our deserts.Only after paying at the till we were told that it would be 40 minutes before we were served.

Not been here for long time, i went in for some lunch with my son and i must say that the food was well cooked and to be honest the hottest i have had at this establishment i burnt my mouth as i was not expecting it to be so hot. I can not fault the food in any way and the staff were brilliant, my sons meal was excellent and also very hot, my congratulations to the chef, Josh please keep up the good work, i will certainly go back as it was a lot better than the last time i was there.

After waiting at the sign saying wait here to be seated for 10 minutes I was informed you order food at the bar first. After ordering food I was advised I needed a table number to proceed. I should of walked then but ordered a ploughman’s salad. See photo of the worst most foul smelling ploughman’s I have ever seen.

Myself and a friend visited here yesterday to catch up before christmas and have some lunch. It was nice and busy which is something you like to see in a place. The service was good and quick and we ordered off the festive menu. The food came in great time and it was hot and very tasty. We then ordered dessert which topped it off beautifully. Delicious food, friendly staff and great prices. Recommended for any occasion

Called today 1/12 for dinner with my family of 6.4 of us had the carvery, which I can only describe as mass produced crap. The mash was instant mash, the stuffing had no taste and the yorkshire pudding melted to rubber when gravy was added to it.The only bonus was the all you want tea/coffee.The red water(tomato soup)isn't worth mentioning. The other 2 meals were of the same poor quality.Even the meat although it looked appetising was tsteless and overcooked.

Me and my husband called in for a “quick” drink only to stand at the bar for over 15 minutes, one person serving and putting all food orders first. She then turned around to us along with 3 other couples who also just wanted a drink to say it was first come first served which she clearly wasn’t doing. Absolutely loads of people waiting on tables and no staff to see to them, absolutely disgusted and will not be returning anytime soon. I will also be passing the message on for people to avoid.

Don't quite know where to begin. We pre-booked a meal deal as we were staying at the hotel next door. At the table we asked what drinks were included in the meal deal - they said to ask at the bar. You had to queue (a long time) to order food and drinks at the bar. One person taking orders for food. Not only was she doing this, but also serving drinks with your order - this took a long time and prolonged the wait to order food. They needed a separate person to organise the drinks once the order had been taken and this would have speeded up the food ordering queue. Because we didn't know what beer and wine was included with the meal deal, we then had to go back to the table half way through the order to tell the rest of our group the included drinks, thus wasting time. Some beers and wines were included, some with a supplement and some not at all - what a joke!! I paid the supplement for the red wine as the house red was unpalatable ( and I'm not fussy). After a while the waitress came to the table and told us that our starter order had been forgotten to be put in. Hence, when our main meal came, it had been sitting around for a while. My cod was a little hard on the outside and my friend's Yorkshire with sausages was cold, as was the gravy. She sent it back and it came back - the Yorkshire hard and unpleasant. We decided to sit in the bar area for a nightcap - you couldn't see the tables for glasses and bottles. Truly, I felt sorry for the staff - they were trying their best under difficult conditions - just not enough staff. I will not accept the excuse that it was busy as there had been a football match at Turf Moor - these fixtures are announced well in advance with management having plenty of time to plan for extra staff.

Spacious car park and good location near to the town centre and local parks. Basic but good choice of common pub meals. Good value and meal deal offers allows a decent meal on a budget. Food is well prepared and cooked and all our group was satisfied with their choice. Good selection of drinks including draught beer and lager. Especially good for families with young children with supervised play room and colouring books and crayons galore.

Come here regularly especially more often since we can use our meercat 2 for 1 meals. Most meals are good value for money, some better than others. The mixed grills, scampi, burgers and apparently the carvery are very good, especially the fudge cake and choc a block sundaes mmm I do recommend. Family friendly with a play area for the kiddies and an outside seating area for nice days. Overall a good brewers faire

We haven't eaten here before, and won't go out of our way again. We chose the Carvery, but the Menu selection might have been better. Of the Carvery's available in Burnley, this rates poorly for choice, quality, food temperature, service and surroundings, even though it had a Refurb a year ago. If you are wanting a cheap meal, I would prefer Wetherspoons, and that is not necessarily a recommendation!

Whilst staying at the Premier Inn here last week on business this was a convenient place to eat for my evening meal and breakfast. The service was OK, nothing exceptional just adequate, not many smiles from the staff. You find a table and order at the bar which is fine, but once I had my meal and was asked if it was OK, there was no further contact about another drink or sweet unless I went back to the bar, however the food I ordered was fine, albeit what I class as “pub grub”.

So I ordered the stuffed chicken with a tomato sauce no sauce to be seen and inside of the chicken was empty sent it back and was told 10 minutes for a new one I waited another 30-40 minutes for the exact same thing. The only good thing was the staff member Heather she was a delight very professional and friendly, I think some staff members should take some training off her as I am guessing this person was a manager as was wearing black was a bit rude and did not have time for me. But Heather was definitely a 5 star from me shame I can't say the same about food. refund doesn't really make up for it.

Sunday Carvery . Never ever to be repealed in a Brewers fayre . Soup was diluted and saw customers tasting the soup and pouring it back into the soup urn . Hair in the starter £1.50 refund for the hair ! Carvery ran out do we were offered Gammon (complete with carbon particles) ... Manageress was sympathetic and did give us a free desert . Felt quite sorry for the overworked staff . Very expensive for the poor quality and atmosphere
