The coffee was lovely and quite well made but their prices are a bit steep considering the cafe is what appears to be a converted living room with harsh wooden seating. £3.50 for their large which is a regular size in many other coffee shops.

A very fine and lovely coffee shop on the quaint North Parade Street. Just enough seating to keep it low key as you listen to cool vinyls of somewhat older jazz releases, and other interesting discs.. Great staff and the pastry goodies are from Gatineau in Summertown. Not at all overrun by tourists who are (thankfully) loitering in the town centre. Seems a locals place which is great.

While I was in Oxford from January-July, I was a regular at Brew. Having sampled many of the coffee shops, I can safely say that this is the best coffee in Oxford. The steampunk machine and the meticulousness of the staff ensures great coffee. If you go on a Monday morning, you might be able to snag one of the owner's delicious, addictive, and authentic cinnamon/cardamom "danishes." The tables are limited, but with this comes the sense of triumph when you can have your coffee to sit in if you manage to snag a table. North Parade is a very pretty location, and I would argue that Brew is the jewel of the street.

People don't realise that this place is one of the cheapest in Oxford. Cheaper than Costa and Starbucks. People must have a grudge against independent coffee shops or something... Dropped in for quick coffee with colleague after a meeting. Ordered one tea and one coffee. 5 mins later asked where the drinks were. "Another 40 seconds for the tea," we are told. What? I'd like to drink it now please. "No, it's another 40s". I'll judge that actually as I quite like it weak. Oh, and where's the coffee? When it arrives it looks like a cup of hot milk. "It's only a single shot" but seems very weakTo add to all this, the tea costs £2.75 for a tea bag in a pot. I do realise that tea is the highest profit margin in coffee shops but this is extreme. And so not worth itThe place seemed to have a loyal clientele of about 6 students with laptops at tables so maybe I'm out of touch with what the local student market.

I love North Parade Avenue for its great mix of little foodie shops and restaurants, it's got a great vibe about it. One of my favourite places there is Brew - a tiny, hipster-ish coffee shop which really focuses on their coffee. I can't comment on the coffee as I don't drink it, but my partner liked his. In addition, they've got a good selection of teas and a small selection of cakes, all reasonably priced. But it's the atmosphere that really sets it apart from many of the other city-centre coffee places, which get especially packed on the weekends. Brew is still busy, but feels more peaceful with just an undercurrent of pep from people working on their laptops. It's where I'd go for awhile to work or to catch up over coffee with a friend.

A good place to go for coffee. It's nice to find a place who understand that there is more than just espresso based coffee. They have a selection of four beans for pour over coffee which at £3.25 a pot is OK value. The shop is quite small and, as others have said, people do tend to hog tables which is a bit rubbish. We enjoyed our coffee and hot chocolate here, both being made with plenty of care and attention. The shop is rather small, so you may be lucky to find a perch, but this just adds to the sociable atmosphere. Just one small point, the pastries and croissants displayed on the counter were uncovered, which rather put me off, as customers place their orders pay across them. A clear plastic cover, would be a good solution, which I've seen in other places.

Coffee is delicious, I would say it narrowly edges out the missing bean - another favourite of mine in Oxford. The prices are exactly what you'd expect - most drinks are £ 2.00 or £ 2.20. The atmosphere is excellent - it's thoughtfully decorated, there's some appropriately indie/hipster music on in the background (but not obtrusively so). They've managed to generate an atmosphere that's calm without being dull - it's a great place to read. They don't serve sandwiches, but they generally have some sort of nice cake or frangipanne. They also seem to have some local independent colas, though I haven't tried any of those. Staff are always friendly and, crucially, always make excellent coffee. On my first visit to Brew, they were playing The Shins on vinyl. That alone would have made me a fan forever. But, I keep coming back (and back again) because the coffee is brilliant. Plus, the lovely gentlemen who work their caffeine magic there offer great advice on restaurants, music and even carpenters. Where else in Oxford, or anywhere for that matter, can you walk in say nothing but "hello" and get handed your flat white?! Pay attention others, this is how customer "service" is done! North Parade is slowly becoming the best street for practically everything. Visited with my son who ordered the burger. It came with a dry bun and an equally dry burger patty. No relish and just a piece of lettuce and slice of tomato. All totally inedible and not the qualities would expect in a Waitrose. The chips were obviously of the oven variety and undercooked. Overall a terrible experience and not one I would wish to repeat. Will not be coming back.
