Brasserie Restaurant at Mercure London Watford Hotel in Hertsmere

Stayed a night and did not feel like going out to eat. The food was over priced for what it was and next time I will take a walk to a local pub

I've got a good deal on their website, stayed for 2 nights for this trip. The reception area was very nice and modern, friendly staffs .The room was a bit outdated but clean, The food in the bar was nice, the steak was juicy and perfectly cooked but expect London city prices.Breakfast was very nice, there were more choice on the breakfast menu. Will definitely come back with family, harry potter experience just 15 mins away.

We had our dinner here on Saturday which we was well impressed by. For starters we had whitebait, although we hate fish that still has they're head on, we managed to get through it and still enjoy our starters. For mains i had fish and chips and my missus has the lamb shank. both very nice and very good quality. Overall it is a fantastic restaurant which is let down by the rest of the hotel.

If you want good food, but filthy looks and judgemental staff... eat here! disgraceful behaviour, awful awful place

Arrived for my 2 night business stay and went for dinner to the restaurant “Brasserie” menu looks great but food wasn’t half as good as the look of the menu. Staff untrained and therefore not very helpful.

Met up with friends here and decided to try for the first time, unfortunately it will be the last time... Firstly 24.00 for a 6.00 bottle of wine is a complete rip off and totally over priced. Only one of us had a starter and the waitress took it before it was finished! None of us are our mains the lamb stew was positively awful and dumplings were not cooked through at all and pure white I showed a waitress but she just looked blank. None of us had dessert we just wanted to get to McDonald's and eat something! The macciato coffee was like a double espresso, horrible, and in a tiny cup for which 3.50 was charged. The waitress with her hair not tied back was miserable and chewing gum!! Chewing gum! Seriously not impressed at all. Being an Ex General manager of hotels and an Ex auditor of hotels this restaurant would have failed miserably. Far too many miserable, non engaging, staff and absolutely no warmth. Really dissapointed..prices are ridiculous for 1 starter 3 mains (Not eaten) 2 coffees 1 wine. £93.00!!! That's robbery.... The Christmas trees however looked beautiful!! Wouldnt recommend or go there again.

I have been there only two nights,but for that short stay I can say as the staff have friendly attitude, the food in the restaurant was very tasty and the restaurant manager was helpful when I had an issue with order the meal. I can recommend this hotel for all :)

Staff was rude. Our meal was part of a Harry Potter deal. We had two course menu to choose from. Two out of three starters weren't in available,which is fair enough as they let us know as soon as they passed us the menu. But when the server was explaining about how the deal was working,she failed to mention that we had to pay extra for stakes. She only did that when we were ordering our food,which is very unprofessional. Then I ordered a mushroom risotto,which when arrived at the table had no traces of mushrooms in it! The waitress didn't come to check how our food was and I had to chase to come and change my risotto. That eventually got sorted. My partner ordered desert,and after waiting for 15 minutes the waitress came and said they've run out of that desert. And two minutes later she took the desert my boyfriend was going to have to another table that sat and ordered desert after us. All in all the experience was horrible. We complained to the manager who promised she would arrange a compensation but she never did.

The food was quite good but the restaurant itself is quite soulless. The manager and senior staff were very helpful and pleasant, however some of the waiting staff have a couldn't care less attitude. There is a lack of alternative dining in the area so this should be so much better.

We were here for training day and attended lunch with the team and what a bad experience it was. There was no food in the buffet for vegetarian option. The bread for sandwich felt stale. Survived on chips alone. I would think twice before holding a group seminar or training sessions if it was going to be more than a day. There was only one option for dessert and that was fruit and pineapple had discoloration on it. Tempted to bring my packed lunch for next day training. Gordon Ramsay would have loved to hold his "kitchen nightmare" in their restaurant.

We had a lovely family meal on Tuesday evening. The restaurant was buzzing and there was a good atmosphere. Our meals we all delicious especially the Rib eye Steak and Chefs signature pork belly ! Our waitress was really friendly and chatty - nothing was too much trouble. We’ll visit again with friends and totally recommend.

My wife and I decided to have our evening meal at the hotel as we were staying there for onward travel to Harry Potter. When we arrived, there were a few guests eating and we were shown quickly to our table. The menu was good and had quite an extensive range of options. I had the duck and chicken terrine to start with. This was delicious and just the right size as a starter. I then had the king prawn linguine and my wife had the blue burger with twice fried chips. My dish was excellent and really hit the spot. My wife really enjoyed her burger but the chips were the star of the show, I pinched one to try and they were delicious! To round things off I had the lemon tart and raspberry sorbet which was outstanding and my wife had stick toffee pudding and ice cream which she says was fabulous. We washed this down with two pints of orange and lemonade. The service was slick and the staff were keen to keep us happy without being overbearing. We really enjoyed our evening meal and at a touch over £30 (we used our Taste Card) which gave us a free main course, we though this offered good value. The following morning, we went for breakfast, this was outstanding!! Lots of fresh, good quality and well-cooked choices. There was an array of hot and cold food along with juices and hot beverages. Again, this offered fantastic value for money and set us off very happy and full! Well done to the staff for adding to what we can only describe as a most enjoyable experience at the hotel!

We had lunch laid on in the restaurant as part of our training course. Lovely chicken curry, or ham salad, or a vegetarian tagine. A nice plate of cut fruits or chocolate swiss roll afterwards. Everyone who tried the curry thought it was great. One person who said they were normally a 'picky eater' went back for seconds which we had been invited to do.

Unfortunately, they changed the menu and the quality has gone downhill. I have no doubt the General Manager had a hand in it. He's obviously a hardcore been counter. Service is spotty at best, but they really try.

Comimos en el restaurante durante la estancia para un descanso después de San Valentín. La cena estaba incluido en el precio. No había mesa esperando para nosotros, aunque teníamos una reserva. Nos pidieron que esperar. Me sentí como si nos habían olvidado y tuvo que intervenir.

He estado aquí para el almuerzo unas cuantas veces. Normalmente votan por un sandwich que falta sustancia cuando se trata de rellenos. El personal del bar son preciosas, tan sólo que el chef parece bee con un presupuesto ajustado.

El menú es limitado La comida que se sirve es normal Los precios son altos El personal es muy amable. El desayuno está incluido en el precio de la habitación es de una calidad decente

El desayuno estaba incluido con nuestra estancia en el hotel de Mercure, que se sirve en este restaurante. Era un desayuno encantador con un montón de opciones tanto las opciones de desayuno continental y desayuno inglés completo. Todas las comidas se sirven por lo que puedes tanto como lo desee. Bien cocinado y disfrutamos mucho.

No need to venture outside the hotel for a decent meal, good food and attentive service from the friendly staff.

Lovely breakfast!!!! Good choice and had vegetarian sauasges when asked special thank you to Craig for arranging them and bringing them to us so quickly!!!! Dinner was delicious too!!!!

Three years ago I stayed in this hotel and was very impressed by the food. This time it was all very different. Very overpriced and we ended up having burgers. We had a guest with us and felt very embarrased when the meal came it was burned and obviously it has been heated up! I should have complained there and then, but we couldn't as for the sake of our companions. I would say that this is a place to avoid as it's not worth it!

Had dinner in the restaurant and jerk Chicken was one of the best i like it. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The restaurant was a pleasant place to eat and the menu had a good choice of different meals. You had the choice of either using the main restaurant or the bar for your meals, both being comfortable and relaxing areas.

Food was fantastic, large portions and freshly made :) Drinks are slightly over priced, but was nice and friendly staff

Whilst staying at the hotel we dined at the Brasserie. The food is of a decent quality, nothing special but then also nothing wrong. The staff who served us were friendly and efficient. We both had the rib-eye steaks which come on a large board (what is wrong with a plate) and came with chips, mushrooms and onion rings. Both the last two were cold (A hot plate would have helped keep them warm whereas a lump of wood wont). Most interesting thing to the meal was the fire alarm at the end so we all had to file out of the restaurant drink in hand, thankfully we had finished.

Not sure if I would go here unless staying in the hotel, the food however was excellent. Not the most expansive menu but I only wanted one meal!! The breakfast is even better

We found it difficult to get food and service in the basement bar on a Sunday night so the management invited us to go back and try the ground floor Brasserie restaurant which we did on a Saturday night. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the service, and the flavours and presentation of the food. The food was colourful, nicely presented, with lots of contrasting flavours.Highly recommended, goats cheese and beetroot starter.Ribs for main course.

Had 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and a dinner here and all were very pleasant and reasonable and no issues with the service. Even found the bar for snack a good option

The new menu has arrived and may I say I am NOT disappointed. Some great new dishes and especially for summer some lighter meal choices. Cannot wait to work my through the new choices as well still enjoying the regular classics. Tonight I tried the new jerk chicken which was special and followed it with a sticky toffee pudding - what a delight. Had lovely company tonight as eating on your own is not easy and yet the staff keep me company in between taking orders. My thanks to the chef, Balla and his team and thanks to Jess, Olivia, Stefan, Brad and Nat for keeping me entertained.

Last week we went to brasserie. the food was alright but they could of made it better. the price was quite expensive but it was OK. overall it was well.

Not great and expensive. I only ate here because dinner was included in the hotel stay. There are better options nearby.

Nice enough food, wont go to that hotel again to eat. It was only because we stayed at the hotel that we ate there. Nice food though. Staff we not great! Shame really.

We were invited here with family, and although we live locally had only ever driven past. Unfortunately the visit was not what I'd hoped for. The outside of the building is very dated and the inside wasn't much better , the ladies toilet had a leaking loo so the carpet was soggy, and we couldn't find the restaurant, and were surprised to find it was a souless area right at the front of the hotel overlooking the car park and the busy A41. The service was OK, depending on who you spoke to. One person in our party has a nut allergy, and one waiter just did not understand the simple question "does this contain nuts"? . Food was acceptable but not good enough to bring me back, if I was staying at the hotel I'd go to the 24hr McDs next door or drive to the Hilton, or carvery just 2 mins away heading Sth to Watford.

Menu same whether you eat in bar or restaurant, the latter having very little atmosphere - the quality of the food did not match the price being charged.

Went there for our office Christmas party today. Many commented that the food on the buffet was awful and very limited (small pieces of salmon, chicken wraps, vegetable slices, boiled cabbage, boiled carrots, roasted carrots,roasted parsnips, roasted potatoes and gravy). For less than half the price, the Toby Carvery which is just down the road, provide a much more varied and tastier buffet. Service was unwelcoming, in particular from the member of staff on the podium, who dealt with us in a curt and impatient manner.
