Brasserie One is a reasonably priced oasis in Westminster, which is ideal if you want a conversation over a meal. I have always found the service to be very good, with good food and wine. The menu is limited, but I have always managed to find something worth having and that I like. Worth checking out. I keep returning.

A well kept secret - excellent location & very lively due to several Xmas parties in there too but only added to the occasion - it was our office Xmas lunch too &, if anything, felt slightly under dressed without my Xmas jumper. House wine very good value. Didn't think the mushrooms really went with the satay sauce for starter & the Xmas pudding was totally ruined by the addition of cloves - unexpected & totally overpowering, especially if you don't like cloves. The turkey, on the other hand, was truly magnificent & probably the best I've ever had in a restaurant. Overall, a very good meal in a lovely setting for a very reasonable price. We will be back.

Visited Churchill War Rooms with my wife and son, on 11th December, it was my son’s birthday so needed to find a nice restaurant nearby. It was a Christmas a la carte lunchtime menu and was very good value, a nice selection and well presented. The staff were very friendly, and service was fast and efficient.

We have been to the Brasserie for our Christmas lunch for many years. It has recently been refurbished and the new refurbishment is a great improvement. As a fairly large party we appreciated the help and attention to detail when planning prior to the day. The service on the day was very good, quiet but attentive. The Amaretto Stollen Shot following the main course was a nice touch.

Can't really review. They cancelled our reservation because we were a few minutes late. I can say it's hard to locate as there is no outside signage that we could find and that caused us to miss by a few minutes.

This was our first visit at this restaurant but hopefully not the last. Both of us found all the dishes we chose were very well cooked and nicely presented with the portion sizes exactly as we would expect from a special lunch. The rump of lamb and Bakewell tart were particularly tasty. Also, bearing in mind that we shared a bottle of champagne plus a carafe of wine the total bill struck us as being very reasonable. Anybody who enjoys good food served very professionally and in quiet surroundings (it was lovely to have a conversation without having to shout) would really appreciate this restaurant. Thank you and we look forward to coming again.

The brassiere in the Institute of Civil Engineering is truly a five star experience while keeping their delicacies in a reasonable price range! They have a good mix of starters, main courses and desserts that fit our need for certain intolerances. Our host gave us a worm welcome and always kept an eye for our needs. Not a great choice to eat from the main menu (but to be fair I was already aware of that); however, the starters can be "beefed" up to provide an alternative main course. Food was good and tasty with no complaints from our group but the portions could have been a bit larger. Good attentive service plus a quiet and relaxed setting in this historic building. I don't really blame Brasserie One - when this was TopTable, you'd generally see a four-star review and expect something great. But since the switch to OpenTable, I have been to a couple of bog-basic places like Brasserie One and had middling meals - lured by a 4-star review here. The location is fab, but this is little more than a cafe for the institute and my steak frites was cooked no better than I might at home. So it was priced for central London, didn't deliver on the quality, but more than anything TopTable didn't help it manage expectations.

Hidden gem this. Fantastic location at the corner of Green Park, opposite the Treasury. The restaurant is in the basement of the Institute of Civil Engineers (think Thomas Telford), a wonderful Edwardian pile. Imaginative menu, nice wines, usually quite quiet so you can hold a conversation although sometimes there are groups which raises the sound level somewhat. The exterior of this period building was smothered in plastic owing to a major building renovation and the entrance and exit was very difficult to find. The dining area had (probably been relocated) been affected by this work, but that was not made clear on booking. The menu was simplistic (I was only prepared to try the tortellini after struggling to find the restaurant), but was delicious. The surroundings though are somewhat basic, even at this price point, whilst refurbishment works are underway. I do hope the landlord will compensate this restaurant because the food is sensible and deserves a better sense of arrival until refurbishment work has been completed.

We needed somewhere in the Westminster area for a lunch after a family celebration and knew of this from friends and connection with the Civil Engineers (it's in their building). We weren't disappointed. The food was excellent with enough choice to suit each of us at lunch. We had a shepherd's pie, a tuna steak and two ploughman's and all were tasty and nicely presented. The staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. For a meal in that part of London it was also good value. Wigmore Hall is one of the best recital halls anywhere. Large enough to have serious talent perform, but small enough that even the seats right at the back and in the balcony have excellent acoustics. Add to that a good location, decent bar and seats that can accommodate the widest of bottoms and it's a winner.
