Food excellent, slightly cold in the venue but that may be because it was a really cold night. Only slight bugbear was the attitude of one of the waitresses who I think is the lead waitress. She was offkey with my questions and I felt that I was an intrusion on her time when in fact all I was asking was directions to the bathroom. It wasn't as if the restaurant was full either. Otherwise a good evening.

We really wanted to like this place: It was not to be. We had booked in advance for a special night and were really looking forward to a nice meal out with some great wines. What we got was a rather rude Maitre'd and rather ordinary meals and wine in a noisy cavern of a a space. Unfortunately, on the night we dined there was a large, boisterous Christmas party in attendance. Given the acoustics of the space, the noise was quite deafening (it is a bit disappointing large Parties are accepted for dinner bookings when plainly there is no private space for them). So, we asked the Maitre'd if we could be moved to a table away from the noise. However, we were informed in the most unapologetic and with almost palpable disdain that they were fully booked. We could have let this rudeness go if it wasn't for the fact that the table behind us remained empty ALL evening! On top of this, we were really looking forward to enjoying some fines wines, but when we asked about some guidance with the wines, all we got was a sneer and wave to the wine list! So, onto the meals. We shared two tiny entrees (both unmemorable); followed by Duck and Lamb mains. The Duck was nicely presented, but we agreed it was the most bland tasting duck we've ever eaten; the lamb turned out to be a much nicer dish on this occasion. But, the dessert of Apple / Rhubarb Crumble was by far the worse dessert we've eaten to date in London, and that is saying something! It was a microscopic thin layer of fruit covered with what can only best be described as 'gravel'. It was really awful! And, that pretty much sums up our evening: really awful.

Apparently they source some of their wine list from collectors. That means it can have some eclectic bottles on it and can vary from visit to visit. The wines we had were excellent. The appetizers also very delicious. Nice atmosphere. I enjoyed a very rare colheita port for dessert. My complaint was that my steak was rather undercooked. Yes, I could have chosen to send it back (and I didn't) as I'm no stranger to eating truly rare steak, but I did request medium rare and it was definitely not that, at least as far as I'm aware. They likely would have made it right, so I'm not docking them hugely for that. A place I would return, however.

Strong library wine list with really good value and great assortment of vintages - from '85 through today. Starters, including triple fried chips, salumi plate and beetroot salad were all solid. Grilled selection was strong (beef, pork) but all a la carte. Really personal service and super knowledgeable staff with their wines (with no stuffiness!).

The atmosphere is good in this underground restaurant. It has an interesting, but slightly expensive wine list and the Sommelier is very good. The other staff were also friendly and helpful. However the menu is limited and the steaks we had were tough. An OK place that could be better

3rd or 4th visit here. Consistently good and reasonably priced (although not cheap). Decent selection of wines by the glass.

Popped in with a party of five and no reservation. Fortunately, it was a bit early, and the staff was very accommodating in finding a spot for us. Original intent was to have a glass of wine and move on. Turned out, three bottles of wine, a full meal, and dessert later, that we would enjoy a great evening at 28-50. No detail needed on the meal as everyone was pleased with the product. Highly recommend this spot whether for either a glass of wine, from a superb selection, or an evening out.

Second visit. Very handy for The Strand area. Food very good. Service excellent, very attentive. Bill for lunch for 4 including starter, main and coffee with 3 glasses of wine (in total) came to about £170 including service charge.

Lovely food and delicious wines gave us a really enjoyable late lunch on our visit to London for the theatre. Wish we lived nearer!

We had a delicious lunch. We all chose differently and all enjoyed our individual menu choices. Both the red & white wine were good.
We were served promptly and were well looked after.
Would definitely like to go again.

I like 28-50 because the food is consistently good and it is a convenient place for lunch near the office. However, the servive this time was incredibly slow, they didn't event take our orders for the first 25 minutes and then we had to wait a long time for our main courses. If this happens again I would not recommend it for business.
