Bramleys Brasserie in Nottingham

I have dined here on four occasions and found the first two to be excellent. However in September my husband and I had dinner and we both felt the food was well below standard but gave the benefit of the doubt that this was a one off. I dined here on the 25th with a friend and sadly the food was even worse than the time before. The Goan monkfish curry looked stunning on the plate but unfortunately the fish was dry, overcooked and lukewarm warm and the rice was equally tepid. I had no option but to send it back. My friend had the lamb which again was overcooked and dry and the portion was very small. I wonder if the food is pre-cooked off site and is then just heated up in the kitchen. Thank goodness the bread was tasty. On a positive note Daisy our waitress was very professional and extremely apologetic. I was very disappointed that the Maitre de did not acknowledge the issue before we left. Would I recommend this place to eat, no I wouldn’t. Serving food of this standard I can see why the hospitality industry is struggling.

Very chatty and caring with lovely attentive service

We went to Bramleys last week for a friend's birthday and it was a really special evening. The food is definitely elevated and the desserts in particular were really unique and beautifully presented. We were really well looked after by Alexi who was attentive to our large group. He was also really friendly and helped me with my request to add a candle to my friend's dessert. Definitely an asset to the team. Recommended highly.

I took breakfast and dinner at Bramleys. Breakfast is really excellent - high quality buffet and great variety (5-star) Dinner is ok. Dishes are not large (3-star) Staff are very friendly. Situated in Orchard hotel within the University Park, the views, ambience and comfort are all very good.

We have been here a number of times and the staff are always extremely good, but Denzil can’t be faulted. The food is always a high standard and good value. Limited menu, maybe some specials for alternatives.

My wife and I had dinner on two nights whilst staying at the Orchard hotel. The restaurant is a bright and attractive place to eat, but can become rather noisy. I am a coeliac, so I was very pleased to see allergens are taken very seriously and allergen information is provided. After being led to our table I was surprised to be offered standard bread even though the restaurant had already been warned I was a coeliac. The sliced gluten free bread I was given as a replacement was excellent but I would have expected a gluten free roll. My wife's bread was OK but was again standard bread when I would have expected a selection of artisan rolls. I had Korean rib with sushi rice and green papaya salad. The presentation was excellent. The rib was beautifully soft but bland. I think it would be better with a sauce. The green papaya salad was very bland. I expected it to be very spicy and full of flavour and I think having tomatoes in it was a mistake. My wife had monkfish with coconut milk curry. The sauce and the rice were excellent, but the monkfish as tough and tasteless. My wife complained and this was dealt with politely and efficiently. We shared a side of red cabbage slaw which was good. I am very fond of ice cream, but my chocolate ice cream was disappointing. It was rather bland and had occasional ice crystals. This was also the first time I have been offered a dessert spoon and fork to eat ice cream. My wife's bramley apple and white chocolate mousse was beautifully presented and an excellent combination of flavours and textures. On our second night, I was immediately offered gluten free bread with the meal. Unfortunately it never arrived. I had pork belly with a side dish of fries, and my wife had asian spiced cauliflower with a side dish of red cabbage slaw. Again, the presentation of both dishes was excellent. I again thought my pork was a bit bland, but the fries were truly excellent. My wife really enjoyed her meal.

We stay in the Orchard on a regular basis.. Alexsi always looks after us, he’s attention to detail and customer services skills are outstanding. He makes our trip.. great work Alexsi. Thank you for looking after us all so well.

I would like to give a special mention to Matthew in Bramleys at the Orchard Hotel and restaurant. He always has a smile greeting patrons. He is courteous, friendly and very helpful. The breakfast team are also amazing.

Matthew and Katie were amazing. I have celiac disease and they made me feel so cared for and the attention to detail was outstanding. The gluten free options were like no where else I’ve stayed before Thank you so much!!

Food was very good. The service was as good as the food. We are in the restaurant on the first night and were so impressed we booked for the second night. However on the second night we were going to be back later than planned so would not make our dinner reservation we rang hotel and they told us if we got back before 10pm we could order and eat in bar area. We did this and had another very tasty meal.

Venison was absolutely delightful, Great vibe and attentive service from Denzil.

My wife and I ate here both nights of our stay, and whilst the menu isn't huge, the food was excellent each time. The staff were excellent and couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. I would definitely recommend the restaurant here.

A lovely evening meal, with great service and delicious food, of great quality! Better than expected, to be honest, especially the very different but delicious dark chocolate mousse and brownie with black sesame ice-cream!! Would definitely recommend.

I had an unplanned overnight stay at the Orchard Hotel and ate dinner and breakfast in Bramleys. Denzil, the maitre'd had been advised by the hotel reception staff that I had enquired whether gf options were available. He took me to my table and he and the waiting staff took time to explain the Gluten free options to me. Dinner options were brilliant and I'm pleased to report that although ice cream and a brownie were on the menu, there were other choices. (Coeliacs will understand) . The following morning Denzil was once more on duty and advised that any hot food I required would be prepared in the kitchen and brought directly to the table. Food stations each had clear allergen information and the fruit, yogurt, honeycomb and gf flapjacks were in a separate area, well away from gluten containing foods. I cannot praise the kitchen and the front of house staff highly enough. They were well informed and nothing was too much trouble.

Very tasty well cooked food. Cordelia looked after us as our waitress very well.

The highlight of the evening was the venison salami. Full of taste. Something I have never had before and will look for it again. The main course was equally acceptable, but to be presented with the main course almost before finishing the starter is not how I like to eat, and would prefer more time to digest the starter. The dessert menu was not exciting and to not be offered a lemon sorbet in the options, which to me were slightly exotic, was a negative mark.

We’ve just had the most incredible meal at Bramleys, Nottingham. The food was outstanding! Fresh ingredients cooked to perfection! My son had the cod, husband had the lamb belly and I had the Artichoke dish. We all had the speciality dessert. The service was amazing and the meal flowed very well. Will definitely be back!

Ben was absolutely outstanding, knew exactly what to do on the tills for my picky eating customisations and was polite, also well knowledgable on his drinks, the kind of young gentlemen you want to be served by on every bar, in every hotel, in every country. The restaurant was a bit noisy, but that was because there were two fairly large parties, and the hard surfaces made for a challenging acoustic. Plenty of free parking. We loved our time there.

Both the food and service were excellent. From my time of arrival Cordelia was very polite, attentive and utterly charming. Her colleagues who brought me my food were just as professional. The food was excellent, delightful flavour combinations that exceeded my expectations. Very good quality cooking at a relatively modest cost, my compliments to the chef. Though far from a connoisseur I appreciate good food and service, hence I was a very satisfied customer. Thanks to Cordelia (especially) and colleagues for such a delightful dining experience.

We were staying in the hotel and wanted a nice meal for our wedding anniversary. The food was good. However, we were not warned that the menu would be restricted due to it being 'Sports Week', so there was not as much choise as we were expecting. Have to say, the food was tasty, especially the salmon starter! The other problem was it was the evening of the completion of the Masters Indoor Hockey World Cup Finals. As such, the French tream, presumably having won, were in the restaurant and in very good spirits. They were very loud, despite the best efforts of the staff. I believe we should have been warned both of the reduced menu and the fact it could be a noisy night. Even if it wasn't possible to include that information on the online booking system, surely it would have been possible to send an email. If we had then decided to 'risk' it, that would have been our choice. We may well have decided to look elsewhere as we were looking forward to a quiet evening for our anniversary. The lack of choice actually meant we had to change our plans for the following night - much as I love fish and chips, I didn't want it two nights running and that was the plan for our second night. (There was notihng else on te Bramleys menu I fancied). We would eat here again, but I would check that there is no big event taking place. The satff were fantastic and clearly felt awkward about the situation - it was far from there fault.

Fantastic Lunch We had a return visit (stayed in the hotel and had dinner in Sept 23) for lunch today and I have to say, the service was excellent and the food was amazing. My daughter had a Pizza and loved it and my wife and I had the Red Quinoa salad but we asked for grilled Chicken on top, WOW, huge main course size salad, really well presented and tasted amazing. Highly recommended a visit here if you want a nice quiet meal with great food. We’ll be back again soon.

I don’t bother writing reviews, unfortunately I’m lying awake in my hotel room trying to digest the terrible food I just ate. I’ve not had a burger this bad since the early 2000’s, it was worse than a frozen burger, from a burger van. In this day and age of smash burgers, it’s simply embarrassing that you could even put this burger on a menu. I’ve just Googled Nottingham burger restaurants and there are actual destination burger bars in the city with real rave reviews. The owners of this hotel restaurant should be ashamed of themselves, getting such a simple dish so very wrong, is either just plain stupid or completely ignorant. Although we didn’t try any other dishes, and given that the very nice waitress didn’t even ask us how we would like our burgers cooked, I do suspect they’re all just pre-prepared frozen dishes, warmed up in a microwave. “Bramleys Restaurant, the very best of British cuisine” what a load of old rubbish, I’m now dreading tomorrow’s hotel breakfast !!!

Ate in the restaurant the food was absolutely amazing. The staff are a credit to the restaurant they are tentative professional and polite. Not only once but up to four times I was asked if everything was okay with my meal the service was second to none the staff could do enough for me asking if I wanted water or an extra alcoholic drink Food was served hot and in a timely manner I would even go as far to say that this team could run a five star restaurant with out even getting phased. The best Christmas dinner I have EVER eaten outside of home, bar none. Lovely, helpful staff working together to serve outstanding food. Thank you. Also, I’m dairy free and I could eat just about everything. Delightful!

Wonderful place, staff are armazing

The food was excellent and the staff were amazing. Cloe in particular went above and beyond to ensure my food was lactose free and the chef was very accommodating.

We dined late on in the evening and both service and food were excellent. The staff were attentive and polite, but not invasive. The food was very good, with an excellent cold meat platter between two to start with and a roast chicken dish with an excellent crumb coating of what seemed like pork scratchings. Much tastier than that description makes it sound.

The food was excellent and the service was great, particularly Denzil, who is a credit to the restaurant and hotel. Thank you for making us feel so welcome Denzil, you do your family proud.

We visited Bromley’s twice during our stay in Nottingham. We had lunch on arrival. First class pizzas and apparently the best veggie burger ever! There were 5 of us and everyone was more than happy with the quality of lunch. We were in the Orchard Hotel for three days and had breakfast each morning. Again, no complaints but they could advertise better that there are additional items available if you wish to order for example vegetarian sausage or poached eggs. Overall though a good hotel breakfast with lots of choice. On our final evening we elected to stay in the hotel for Dinner, due to the appalling weather. There are separate bar and restaurant menus but both are available in the restaurant. The food was first class and one of our party said he enjoyed it more than the 5 star steak restaurant we visited the previous evening. The staff were polite and attentive, nothing was too much trouble and they added to our evening. From a distance it does look slightly like a functional cafeteria rather than restaurant/bistro but don’t be fooled this is 5 star food. Thank you Bramleys.

Regular customer at Bramleys. Staff are always super friendly and one of the reasons I return frequently. Only suggestion I would have is to change up the menu every 4-6 weeks to keep it interesting for regular guests. Keep us the good work guys.

Had a lovely meal here on Friday night, sourdough bread share and starters were all delicious, the main meals were also good and very well presented. Not sure the Garden Pea and Vegan Feta Gnocchi is a great addition to the menu, it tasted quite bitter and we didn’t like that but everything else was great. Really nice atmosphere in the restaurant too, would certainly make a return visit.

We had lunch here in Sep 2023 and the food took an age to come and when it did it was barely warm. They had plenty of staff around so I’m not sure what the deal is.

Absolutely fantastic meal. We had 3 courses for 3 people. The staff were all so friendly and attentive. Every course was delicious - the chicken supreme, goan curry and all the desserts were absolutely amazing! We will be back and would highly recommend.

The food available was really nice and precisely described, when the food came is was presented very well and was vibrant and colourful. The quality of the food was brilliant. Had a very decent dinner here. Not flashy but well done. .adequate choices .Attentive staff .they really do not need to ask if everything is alright at every course. The muzak is annoying .

Visited the brasserie while staying at the hotel. The service was excellent, staff very friendly, food lovely. Not sure why the previous reviews were saying it was so poor. My husband and I enjoyed our visit and would certainly recommend to anyone.

After reading some of the reviews I had some reservations about booking a table in the Brasserie, but was pleasantly surprised by both the food and service. The only thing missing was background music to improve the ambience. Would recommend people try it for themselves.

Staying here for a conference. I am absolutely gutted that there is nothing else around, so you are forced to eat the sub-par food. The waitstaff are also unfortunately just children who should not be client-facing. The yogurt from breakfast was left out and served as a dessert for lunch. The curry served at lunch was painful, consisting of watered down vegetables that were boiled to destruction. The coffee was bitter and the tea was cold. The cherry on top: I got a vomiting bug after 2 days here, and I am here for 2 more days. Send help (and uber eats).

Although it is very rarely full, this place never manages to deliver food on time. And if you do receive a meal, it is invariably bland and cold. It wouldn't be so bad if the prices weren't so eye-watering.

Visited Bramley's for a business lunch and it was not an experience I wish to repeat in a hurry. Service was incredibly poor, although it wasn't very busy. There seemed to be plenty of waiting staff around but they were all just congregating around the front desk rather than taking orders or asking people if they wanted more drinks etc. When our order was finally taken, it took over an hour for the food to arrive. The Greek salad was ridiculously overpriced and the dressing and the bread we ordered with it did not arrive until we were almost finished. Due to the food being so late, some of us had to move meetings in the afternoon. I did complain to what seemed to be the floor manager but felt rather fobbed off. There was no real solution offered and we were just being told that next time would be better. I felt incredibly sorry for all the students and their families who had chosen to come to Bramley's after Graduation, I do hope it did not spoil their day too much. I for one won't rush back...

Overpriced, barely average food (had to send cold chips back to the kitchen) and food generally tasted bland for dinner. When I asked what was in the vegan burger, the waiter said they don't know and didn't bother to find out. Hotel breakfast was sad with par-boiled mushrooms. Overall very disappointing, especially given the price you pay!

Compliments to the Chef! The food was absolutely superb. Had a 10-day stay at the hotel in July and had breakfast and dinner most days. The 'super salads' were fabulous, tasty, interesting - and enormous! Great value for money. Breakfasts were also really good. Great choice of juices, cereals, croissants and bread. Honey, jam and marmalade provided. I only drink oat milk and it was no hassle whatsoever for the staff. All of whom were so friendly and helpful. Five stars to the staff :-)

Stroeve ontvangst en bediening. Je voelt je niet echt welkom. Beperkte kaart met voornamelijk gefrituurde en aziatische gerechten. Dan maar een vegetarische pizza gegeten, deze was OK. De wijn was goed. Redelijk prijzig.

had a breakfast , which was great , its nice to see honey being freely available and wow a nutra bullet made all the difference , there was a great selection for lunch , with the tuna being my choice , i found the ingredients to be fresh and above the norm

Excellent add on facility for this hotel. Being able to get a choice of food all day is a definite marketing advantage. good choice for all day dining. Try the Crispy Chilli Beef.

E' il ristorante dell'hotel De Vere Orchard,immerso nello splendido parco della zona universitaria di Nottingham.La scelta non e' immensa ma i piatti sono curati e molto ben presentati.Le tavole sono molto pulite e ben apparecchiate,unico neo la mancanza di tovaglia,che sicuramente non e' sinonimo di igiene al 100%.Le ragazze che vi lavorano sono cortesi e sorridenti.La mia segnalazione positiva riguarda soprattutto una piacevole sorpresa e cioe' il menu kids:due vere e sostanziose portare per 7.50 sterline,prezzo al quale in uk spesso e' difficile compare un tramezzino..

Basic menu and cooked well but they need to change it more regularly as a little limiting if you are staying every week. Ordered pizza , which is unlike me, but fell for the "fresh basil leaves' , unfortunately they were completely absent! On asking where they were they exclaimed, "oh no they are in the tomato dressing " only they most definitely were not. That was irritating at best and just plain stupid to treat your customer as if they have no brain cells at all, if they had just told the truth, i.e. they had run out, I would have understood and ordered something else.

The main course menu was mostly curries, burgers, salads or pizzas and what we had was well cooked and presented and tasted good. The desert menu was very disappointing- a chocolate pudding, icecream and sorbets or cheese. The cheese plate didn't have everything on it listed in the menu. Our waitresses we lovely, they were very busy and as a result service was slow but they were cheerful and efficient.

When we got there they said we hadn’t booked. We ordered a bottle of wine, half an hour later they came back saying they run out of the wine, 10 min after the waitress returned with a bottle of said wine. Ordered appetisers, they took almost 1 hour to get to us after complaining 3 times, once arrived they were not hot. The main course took almost 2 hours to arrive, again had to complain several times, luckily that was hot, although the top of my rice was clearly dried out. We were next to teenagers (some sort of summer school) very noisy and messing around as teenagers do. Still the restaurant should have placed them in a function room and not next to full paying customers, I don’t blame the teenagers at all. I felt very disappointed as this has been the worst dining experience we have had for a very, very long time. The waitress worked extremely hard, I don’t feel that any of this is her fault. Not what you want after celebrating your child’s special day
