Bow Street Tavern in City of London, Westminster

Service was ok. We booked a few weeks in advance on the basis of wanting to visit the gin terrace for my mother’s birthday which I specified in the booking. Sadly on arrival we were only offered a booth for 6 at the back behind the bar. There was also a private function on the 2nd floor. So we couldn’t see anything else this pub has to offer.

Cannot recommend this pub enough. The staff and the cocktails were absolutely amazing, special shout out to, RAE AND VICKY AND X, there’s a karaoke room upstairs and a roof top garden as well, we will return everytime we come to London, we are acrually from leciester and we spent 3 hours in here xx

Have just had an excellent fish and chip lunch at Bow Street Tavern, superbly cooked and presented. All credit to staff for welcoming us and for their courteous and pleasant service. Certainly a place to revisit.

Nous sommes venus pour manger à midi en famille . Il n’y a pas beaucoup de choix ce qui peut être un bon signe . Mais nous sommes un UK! Et la gastronomie n’est pas leur fort . C’est décevant . Burger , entree à partager, petite salade à 14 euros , des quiches/tartes au poulet (on se demande ce que c’est comme poulet …) , beaucoup de sauce , des frites pas maison et bourrante … 120 euros à 5 (entrée partagée et 1 plat chacun ). Pas de soucis pour payer si c’est bon. Mais là , ça vaut pas grand chose. Mais l’impression que c’est un peu comme ça ds les pubs … Dommage . Le responsable était sympa .

Prima pub met veel verschillende ruimtes, waardoor we met de kinderen een mooi rustig plekje konden vinden. Eten was niet bijzonder, maar smaakte prima voor een redelijke prijs.

I was in heaven!! The gluten free fish and chips were absolutely delicious!! Then the icing on the cake was my favorite pub dessert I thought I would never be able to eat again: gluten free sticky toffee pudding. Yum!! Cool, funky quintessential London pub: great beers on tap, friendly staff and quirky decor. So much fun.

Stopped for lunch needing some fish and chips. Found this spot after walking from Covent Garden and wanting a place away from the crowds. The fish and chips was great, thin light crispy coating on the tender flaky fish. The chips were crispy and nothing was greasy. Giant fillet of fish that filled the plate, not a plate full of chips!

Perfect stop for lunch after exploring in Covent Garden and China Town. Just around the corner from The Frozen Musical at The Theatre Royal. Friendly staff, good service and a quirky cosy pub. Reasonably priced lunch menu of sandwiches.

The service was terrible, we had to wait a hour & Half for our food ,2 meals came but we waited another 45 minutes for the other 6 people, I got a glass of wine & was charged £15.80. the roast parsnips was rock hard you couldn't even get your fork in it & when the burger come it was over cooked.

Met family here for a bite to eat & a few drinks. Was busy but found seating on first floor. Drinks were typical London prices and the ales on the pump I had were nice. Went to order food, was told there's a function on so had to wait 30 mins to order, fair enough so went back after 30 mins, was told kitchen still not open for orders and had to wait another 20-30mins, getting annoyed & hungry now, had another drink, on planning where we were going next we noticed a mouse run out of the fireplace, across the floor and down the hall! Reported this to the bar staff, they said thank you for telling us but we're glad we didn't order any food now. To top this off the staff ushered us out of the first floor room down to the nail bar area as they were doing a pub quiz, we complained and they offered a round of drinks, which was fair but we were hungry so left. Won't be going back even though the ale was nice.

Was advised at time of booking it would be a 30 min wait Well this turn into over an hour Order and pay at the counter on the bottom level, we sat upstairs Lovely atmosphere Interesting a gin and tonic was more expensive than a cocktail Anyway no roast pork Ordered the veggie Wellington and the roast beef Both arrived over an hour after ordering Friends vegetables were hard as and cold Her Wellington was hot and ok My beef arrived a good few minutes after hers and was STONE COLD Meat and gravy cold to touch Vegetables hard as and also cold Only hot thing was the few pieces of broccoli and celeriac purée Meat was tough Had a few bites and that was it Waitress told and she offered to heat it up but that would have only made the meat tougher and no chance it would ah e softened the vegetables At 20 pound a monumental rip of and disaster

Waited 40+ mins for food and it arrived undercooked and luke warm. Waitress said she would feedback to the kitchen

Sooooooooooo Slow Slow Slow Arrived at 12 - got to eat at 3:45!!!!!! And there were 15 of us😱. So this was awful. Food was ok but OMG how slow can it be

We visited on Sunday, we ordered sunday roasts, only pork and one chicken left, so we ordered the pork, Wish we hadn’t bothered, it was like a piece of belly fat, more fat than pork, one small roast potato cut into two, table spoon of cabbage, one carrot sliced down the middle, tea spoon of something white not sure what it was? The only thing nice on the plate was a giant Yorkshire pudding and the gravy , that hid the poor Sunday roast . The staff were lovely let down by a poor meal.

Couldn’t rate this pub highly enough !! Gorgeous pub with an exceptional Sunday roast . Lots of photo opportunities in the 4/5 levels including private rooms and a rooftop terrace . We had a booking for 10 people and had our own room , i unfortunately was not feeling great but a lovely girl brought me a blanket and hot water bottle as a lay on the sofa . Fantastic, proper London boozer right on the site of the. Irth of the first police force (The Bow Street Runners), simple decor with really lovely staff. Prices very reasonable for Covent Garden. Very comfortable and clean.

Both the food and the atmosphere were very disappointing. You order and pay via QR code. This way no one has to greet you or acknowledge your presence. I ordered a baked potato with toppings. I think the poor potato had been nuked and reheated three or four times. It was cold and nearly inedible. With it came an undressed cole slaw. No big deal because I can’t eat cabbage, but even if I could I wouldn’t have eaten it. My husband ordered fish and chips which seemed fine. But if a busy pub can’t manage to serve a freshly baked potato then they shouldn’t be in business. Service was utterly indifferent and started and ended with a surly young woman who brought our food and disappeared. We chose this pub because of its proximity to the Royal Opera House. That is the only thing good about it.
