Excellent service from lovely staff, the food was delicious, I have eaten in several steakhouses in Glasgow, this was by far the best steak I’ve had, we were celebrating our friends 70th birthday and the staff and manager made it very special, definitely would recommend a visit and we will definitely return

Upon arrival, the lady asked us if we had a voucher , felt as though we wasn’t good enough to be there , I mentioned on way out about this , her reply was we ask everyone which was a lie as 2 couples came in after us & wasn’t asked , our meal was ok not worth the money , ordered a side of onion rings which didn’t arrive until we was nearly finished our meal , ordered another drink which didn’t arrive but was on bill , when we pointed it out it was taken off , definitely won’t be back & would not recommend to anyone

Dining here as a part of our hotel stay was a welcome treat after a busy day. The staff, Imogen and Julie, were immediately welcoming, and attentive throughout our dinner. The food was from a limited Market Menu as a part of the hotel deal, but did not lack in quality in any way. £30 per head for the food provided is exceptional value. For starters, we shared the Soup of the day, and the Croquettes. The soup was excellent, well balanced of flavour and with fresh bread. The Croquettes were well presented, with pesto, what seemed to be balsamic glaze, and delightful heritage tomatoes. For our mains, we shared the Mushroom Risotto, and the Salmon. The Salmon was beautifully tender, with a crisp sear on top. The Mushroom Risotto was near perfect, just a touch too much on the saltiness for my personal preference, but amazing nontheless. The portion sizes were generous, which for the price asked is all-the-more impressive. Our desserts were equally enjoyable. My better half had the trio of ice cream which, while we initially believed to be a choice of 3 options from 5, was in fact a towering Sundae packed with flavour. My blackcurrant cheesecake - served with chantilly cream and sorbet - was delicious. We arrived at 6pm, and were served shortly before the vast majority of other tables were in at around 7pm. Despite appearing to be rather busy, the service did not suffer at all. Julie and her team did an excellent job of ensuring guests were happy, and attented to. Food was served with minimal delay (roughly 20-30 minutes between starters and mains) which considering the generous portion sizes was a welcome repreive. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable experience, Connor and Tola.

Always presumed this was an expensive w restaurant so had never been due to having to children. However was delightfully surprised when visiting with family recently. I've heard the steaks are the best in the city but the market menu give you a three course option for £26, and the food was absolutely fantastic. And the kids menu is great - lots of lovely options. The service was great, really lovely and helpful team. And a gorgeous restaurant. Highly recommend.

The food was mind-blowing but best of all was Niamh! She was absolutely world class! So helpful, kind and personable. All of the staff were first rate but Niamh was a cut above. The music was not to my taste but I'm there for the food, which was excellent. The steak and scallops were wonderful and a real treat but Niamh really made the difference.

A very disappointing experience in Bo'Vine. My wife and I have been on a number of occasions and it has generally been OK. However, we were given an Itison voucher as a gift by my son and my wife and i decided to use it for an evening out. The experience started well with the young waitress finding us a quieter spot in the restaurant as wear hearing aids. From there, it was downhill completely. The waiter, when he eventually did appear, was asked if we could order bread for us to have. He said the portions were normally large and for 4 people but he would ask for a portion for 2. No bread appeared and there was no communication from the waiter regarding this. He was in the area regularly servicing another group of guests. We wanted to order some wine and I asked another waiter if we could order wine (as our waiter had not came near our table) and he said he was new and would talk to our waiter. Needless to say, no wine arrive. When the food arrived I asked the waitress for a glass of wine. The wine never arrived and I asked the waitress again for the wine as we were almost finished with our food. She immediately brought back the glass of wine, just as my wife was finishing her main course. We relayed this to the waiter when he asked if everything was OK. He did apologise and said we should write a review if we are unhappy. The voucher was a gift. Perhaps the waiter thought (mistakenly) that there would be a very small tip as the balance on the bill would be small due to the prepaid voucher and therefore not worth the effort and he would prefer to service the group of 6 guests who would not have had a prepaid voucher. The quality of the chateaubriand was good albeit it was lukewarm when it arrived. A little warmer would have been nice. But that was dwarfed by the terrible service which wasted an experience given to us as a gift by our son. If you are not going to service prepaid vouchers to the same level as non prepaid guests, then don't issue the vouchers (they are not free, they have to be paid for)

My partner and I received a voucher for Chateaubriand for two plus prosecco which we had been looking forward to using. On arrival the first thing the waitress said to us was that they were out of rioja, malbec and merlot wine. We were quite taken back & perplexed that a steak restaurant didn't have any of these wines. This was quite indicative of how the rest of the meal would go. The prosecco didn't taste great and wasn't a full glass - the whole restaurant were apparently there with the same deal as that was the only drink the bar tender was pouring. We ordered starters which were nice enough, my partner found his black pudding french toast to be quite dry. Literally as soon as our starter plates were cleared we were presented with our steak which was very off-putting. Even a 10 mins break would have been ok I'm not exaggerating when I said it was immediate. It just felt very rushed - not the kind of experience you'd want eating a supposedly fancy steak. The steak itself was ok, we found it under seasoned and I had to salt mine which I've never had to do anywhere before. The sides were small and not really adequate for 2 people. The sauce portion was tiny! We both ordered desserts to try make the most of it and they were actually nice - the sticky toffee pudding in particular. Other diners around us were coming and going quickly and I could actually hear the table next to us weren't happy and left early. It just wasn't a nice dining experience it felt cheap as if we were all being farmed in and out. Wee details like cleaning cones being visible at the back of the room and not having the correct cutlery cheapened the experience and I have no idea what was going on with the music but it was awful - cheesy 80s/90s/00s stuff sorry but I don't want to listen to James Blunt when I'm out for a nice steak dinner. The staff were attentive enough and obviously trying their best I can only put these problems down to poor management. Which is such a shame as 10-15 years ago my family would come to Bovine for big celebrations and it was always a high quality classy place. It has really gone downhill and we won't be back.

On arrival using 5pm voucher we were given 2 Proseccos. Only had a sip each as they weren’t very nice and we were given different sized glasses. I had the scallops as a starter. Can’t fault it, was lovely. Onto the Chateaubriand. Again was lovely but smaller portion than I was expecting. Plus only one side between the two of us. We both got the marrowbone jus. Was ok but expected more flavour and it was watery. The wife had the raspberry frangipane for dessert. Very nice as was the bottle of Rioja we had. The downside, the waitress delivered drinks to our table that were not ours. Not once but twice. Also the female toilets need a total refurbishment. Brown tiles on wall, the lock on the cubicle was a screw, and the sinks were clean but parts were missing. Staff were very nice. I was here before the pandemic and it was better. Hopefully management can fix the wrongs as it is a nice place.

We have been here many times over the years for the Groupon Chateaubriand deal and it has always been fabulous with great service and good banter from the waiters. The last time we were here was December 2022. However, we popped in again on Easter Sunday this March. The first waitress told us our table wasn't ready but she will find us another one. I'm not sure why she felt the need to tell us this. Anyway she initially tried to place us at a table right next to 2 young children, but she could see I wasn't happy with this and asked if I wanted another table. We ended up at a table right outside the toilets. I'm not sure why she put us here as there were other tables for 2 available, but alas, here we are, outside the toilets (It wasn't too bad I suppose, I just wonder why you have a family with 2 young children (one in a high chair) sitting at the better round both tables while your paying couples are put at the toilet tables. As we sat at down we noticed most of our cutlery was dirty so we piled it up at the corner of the table and took cutlery from another table at the end. That pile of cutlery sat there on the table for the duration of the meal. Not one of the staff who tended us questioned why there was so much cutlery on our table. Non of the waiters took it away, not did take the the unused wine glasses, or the starter cutlery either, as we weren't having starters. The table was very cluttered by the time our prosecco and soft drinks came, as well as the plates, chatau' pan and the chips. We ordered the meat to be medium/well, IMO it was well done and a bit over cooked, though It still tasted good. The sauces are getting smaller - you used to get 2 large, then they reduced it to 1 large now it's 1 very small sauce for two people, needless to say it went very quickly meaning most of the meal had to be eaten dry. The mushrooms are smaller than they used to be as well. The waitress advised us the rice pudding was off, but had been replaced with chocolate fondue - I was excited by this, but when it came it was an individual chocolate sponge cake with warm chocolate sauce in the middle, like the ones you get from the supermarket and put in the microwave for 30 seconds, this was disappointing, maybe I was naive for thinking I was getting a chocolate fondue for £8, but that is what they were calling it. We were going to stay for more drinks as I used to always get a Pear Tree cocktail after dinner, but decided we didn't want to give them anymore money so I asked for the bill. It was the tall girl with the dirk hair who brought it to us and she couldn't even be bothered to put it in the wee leather wallet, just put the piece of paper on the table - very poor. There wasn't a service charge added, but normally I leave a small tip, but this time I only left £1. 3 servers standing by the door on leaving and not one said thanks or good night when we were leaving. While I was there I saw one waitress run to the toilet crying, the same one take drinks to the wrong table and another take plates to a table that had just finished their dinner. I believe this place changed management recently and it absolutely shows. It's chaotic and they don't know what they're doing, no chat or banter from the staff and just plain sloppiness. It was Easter Sunday and they were taking chatau' deals as well as put on an Easter special dinner deal so maybe it was all too much for them throughout the whole day, or maybe they were just taking the p*ss if their manager wasn't in, but no one likes poor service. It used to be one of my favourite places to go and had another Groupon chatau' deal to use by June, but I have cancelled this and got a refund as I just don't want to go back.

I live nearby and have meant to eat here for years. Finally decided to treat myself tonight but it was a definite disappointment. The staff are lovely. The beetroot starter was nice enough but the ingredients had obviously just come out of the fridge so lacked a bit of taste. The steak was fine and the chips were well cooked. The garlic butter sauce was very oily. The tomato and red onion salad was thick slices of cold tomato and red onion on top of salad leaves with no dressing. Very much not worth the £4.50 charge. There was plenty of types for cheese but felt more like an M&S cheese board for one than something from Ian Mellis. None of it was bad (apart from the tomato salad) but for the money it definitely wasn’t up to standard. Plenty of other, better places to go for steak in the West End.

Unfortunately didn't read previous reviews and came here for The Grosvenor's afternoon tea. Service was terrible - although there were several staff it was still chaotic. We had to wait over an hour for food and when it came was haphazardly presented - no finesse. No choice of teas and no individual pots which resulted in luke warm tea which you had to wait for. Sandwiches were poorly presented. Clearly they have not acted upon previous reviews which is disappointing.

We went here for a birthday celebration. First of all, the staff were all friendly and welcoming especially our waiter, Joseph. We had arranged a chateaubriand meal for two with two glasses of Prosecco (voucher). We asked our steak to be medium rare, what arrived was something that could have been revived by a good vet! It was very rare and even ‘blue’ in part (see pic). I suspect this may have been a decision by the chef as the beef was really quite grisly and fatty. We tried half but opted to take the rest home to cook some more. All in all, a very disappointing meal and could not recommend this restaurant on this showing.

Family bought a gift voucher for a birthday celebration. The steak was not only over cooked but completely inedible. The Manager was well aware we couldn’t eat the steak and offered us no alternative, no refund or even a discount. Asked to bag it and take home for the dog and was given some tinfoil and a bag to do it myself at the table! Poor quality and poor service and most certainly wouldn’t go back or recommend. Dined here on the chateaubriand groupon deal and couldn’t fault our experience. Our server was brilliant and the food was tasty. We added some extra accompaniments to our meal (bread and olives to start, beef fat carrots and Mac and cheese) and everything was cooked perfectly. I do think that my partner may have still been a bit hungry if we hadn’t added on these bits to what was included in the offer so do bear that in mind if you are someone with a bigger appetite. All in all, we found this to be good value for money. Only disappointing thing is that the staff do not receive any tips paid on card, only cash which must result in them missing out frequently. The company should rectify this to make sure staff get what they deserve.

Our children buy us the meal as it’s not something we can usually afford, we’ve been a few times but the last time we went was seriously disappointing, we had a deal for the chateaubriand with Prosecco, we were not drinking alcohol. The woman who greeted us and knew we were having the sharing dish, sat us at the smallest table they have, even though they were not busy, off to a bumpy start, we had a pint of Coke and a glass of water with ice & lemon, the drinks arrived without lemon, we ordered starters which were not part of the meal deal, after waiting 30 minutes I asked a young waitress if she could check for us, she didn’t come back, the older woman who seated us noticed that we still didn’t have our food after 40 minutes, she advised us she would check, she came back and apologised for the wait, but no reason why we had waited so long, I did request another water with ice & lemon, I am also advising we were seated next to the bar, the waiter took 20 minutes to serve the water, when our food finally arrived 50 minutes later, we were grateful, the food was, as always pretty great, we requested the bill, they had already added a service charge, didn’t even comp the pint of Coke, nice service that you charge for, my point is, if you don’t want us using the meal deal, don’t offer the meal deal, I’ve never felt so compromised in my dining experience, shame on you

We were given a voucher for the chateaubriand deal as a gift. Firstly the prosecco wasn't great and not even a full glass. The steak was supposed to come with sides but that turned out to be a half tomato, half mushroom and some potato wedges (not chips as we were told). We chose peppercorn sauce which was bland and was not nearly enough for two people so as a result the meal was dry and tasteless. I think just about everyone in the restaurant was on the Itison deal but I wouldn't visit again and judging by the other recent TA reviews Bo'vine should improve things fast!

Not been to Bovine in a while, we used to be regular visitors, but upon the previous visit we were slightly disappointed. However, we put this down to a one off and went back. We ended up opting for the market menu which was great value. We ordered mains and desserts. My partner ordered the steak frites and I ordered the braised ox cheek. All I can say is WOW, food was superb and the portions were huge. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal, a 10/10. I'm not a big dessert fan, so ordered the cheese board (I'm also fussy with cheese so the waiter noted what cheese I couldn't eat). My husband had the apple & plum crumble. Again big portions and both delicious. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, toilets clean and tidy. Staff were welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. Big shout out to who I assume was the manager?? Lady with blonde hair. After our meal she came over to check everything was ok and also took the time to chat to us. We felt she was genuinely interested. I also commented on how I left my umbrella at home (by this time it was pouring of rain outside). She gave me a spare umbrella to use. 10/10 for the food and service. Will be back soon.

LIke most of the others below - avoid! I'm laughing ironically at the review before mine because I was in that same night and had a very similar experience. Just dropped in for a drink. Were seated but offered no drink menu. 15 mins with no service despite there being plenty staff in the restaurant so went to barman to get one. Barman behind the bar seemed confused by this request but got me some menus - sat down only to find it was only a wine list. Another 10 minutes watching 4 staff including clearly overworked Barman behind the bar all trying to get the music machine to play something. They were at it a good 5 minutes just feet from us with nobody inclined to offer us service until we asked and a grudging waitress went and got a notepad. Eventually she returned and asked if we wanted the drinks menu? 25 mins too late dear and we have a dinner date around the corner - 2x G&T and a scotch. No request as to what brand of the myriad available we might like but hey we were finally getting served! Or so we thought. We could observe Barman looking confused at our order. Maybe it was because no brand was specified but I'll give the benefit of the doubt because he was still clearly overworked and the waiting staff were still clearly swanning about underworked but nobody thought to give him any assistance. Then there was multiple trips to a store behind the bar whilst preparing our order. It was a really simple order. Turns out he was obtaining a special spherical piece of ice for the whisky - almost tennis ball sized and absolutely ridiculous. Especially as we'd now been waiting 30 mins and we only popped in for a drink. The drinks were fine, downed and we left for our dinner - Cail Bruich BTW - outstanding if pricey but would wipe the floor with the service at Bovine. If this place were not attached to the hotel and had to stand on its own feet it would close. No teamwork, no cognisance of the customer, inappropriate staffing levels or flexibility, no evidence of supervision. Finally, apologies to Barman but to your credit you were working your socks off without any help and would possibly be more appreciated elsewhere. 10 years or so since our previous visit. Probably the same again if it is still there.

Visited with my other half last Saturday in January. As usual we got our lovely warm friendly welcome. Drinks order taken and then we place our food order. I had the scallops to start which were amazing. Mains I had the oven baked cod with the chickpea and chorizo stew and my partner had the chicken. I'd no room for dessert, but he had the hazelnut and chocolate cheesecake which he thoroughly enjoyed. Our server for the evening was fantastic.

We arrived on Saturday night from out of town after preparing and booking with 5pm.com. On arrival the Maitre De informed us that they did not accept 5pm.com booking on Friday or Saturday nights and that they had no availability. Despite showing the booking we had from 5pm.com still would not honour the booking less than helpful. Since we were all from out of Glasgow did not know the city it was stressful then to have to find another restaurant. Thankfully one of your waitresses pointed us in the right direction which we all wish to thank her for.

A friend and I went to Bo'Vine with a voucher for a deal on a chateaubriand sharer and we bought a bottle of Rioja to go with it. The staff were friendly and very attentive and I like the way the place is done out. It's not elitist but it still looks classy and they treated us well. The food was all delicious. Big chunky chips that were fluffy in the middle and crisp on the outside, beautifully cooked vegetables and of course the steak which is one of the best I've ever had. I'm by no means a wine expert but I liked the one we chose very much and they had quite an extensive selection. I'll definitely be looking to go again.

Waiter James, served us the wrong wine. When I complained, he was clearly offended, and no apology was given. I complained at a later date on their website. They offered no apology for ruining our wedding anniversary, instead they said how wonderful James was despite the fact that he was unprofessional in his attitude and behaviour towards us. Incidentally, the steak was chewy. Management are a joke, no customer skills whatsoever. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not be back. There are plenty of far better restaurants in Glasgow.

Last Friday was my fifth or sixth visit to Bovine, and our booking was at 6pm. The service from start to finish was nothing short of bad! We were shown to our table - and waited patiently for half an hour for someone to come and take our drinks order. No-one came, so we had to shout for someone's attention!! The meal itself was lovely, as the food normally is in Bovine, but again the service was poor in respect of staff asking if we needed drinks. When we were finished we AGAIN had to shout someone, for the bill to be brought to us (staff just appeared disinterested in their customers) and when this eventually came - they had ADDED an extra bottle of wine and another drink to the bill, trying to charge us an extra £25 on products we had not purchased! I pointed this out to a member of staff, who took the bill from me without so much as a word to me, and when this was brought back to the table - no apology, no explanation, nothing. SO A WORD OF WARNING - ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BILL IN HERE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE BEING CHARGED WHAT YOU HAVE ASKED FOR. If an apology had been given I's have thought this was a genuine error on their part, however due to the complete disinterest, I have serious doubts.

Our server was polite and well mannered. 3rd time we have visited and will certainly be back as the food was lovely and the steak cooked perfect. Reccommend the onion rings as a side order! We had a groupon voucher for the half price steak with prosseco and unfortunately the steak wasn't cooked well. We asked for medium rare and it was almost raw in places. The portions were on the small size and expensive starters (3 mediocre scallops for £10!). The staff seemed rushed off their feet and there was quite a wait to order. Staff were lovely and attentive so my three stars go to them.

Ordered scallops for a starter, £10.00 for THREE small scallops with three small tomatoes! The scallops looked pale and insipid. The old joke about "how did you find the scallops Sir?" "Underneath a watercress leaf" comes to mind. I've ordered scallops several time in different restaurants recently and this is the smallest portion and most expensive.

Waited further 10 mins for someone to take drinks order . Sat on my coat all the way through meal. Steak was lovely and girl that served us was nice. At no point was a birthday wish mentioned to my son. Finished dinner and waited ages on bill. The Male that 'welcomed' us into the restaurant caught my eye on 3 occasions but never came over so we got up and paid at door. Will not return and wish I had chosen somewhere else to celebrate. I went for dinner with 3 friends. One of us had a sirloin steak and it was very good. Tender and tasty. Three of us had the sole which was truly dreadful. It didn’t taste fresh, was cooked in some sort of batter - maybe egg and was covered in tiny shrimps. The taste and texture was horrible. For me it was inedible and at £20 a piece this was unacceptable. Perhaps one should just order steak in this restaurant but, if that is the case, why offer other options? We did all 3 complain and were given a free glass of wine in compensation. I would never visit this restaurant again. I do not believe they employ a credible chef.

Whatever this restaurant is- it is not a steakhouse. The steaks were only 8 ounce. We had the ribeye and the fillet. Both were ordinary. The steaks were small, small portion of good fries and a little salad. We were hungry after the steaks at £25 and £33 respectively. There are only 4 steaks available and of the same maturity. A real steakhouse will have a bigger range of steaks, 10/12/16/30, and of different matuirities. The Bovine is part of the Hilton group and it suffers from being part of a hotel chain
