Boundary Rooftop in Tower Hamlets

The rooftop bar is splendid. The cocktails, wines and beers are excellent. The food is wonderful. Great restaurant and bar in London.

So good to not only have good vegetarian food, but dishes that some thought and imagination has gone into (as opposed to the standard mushroom risotto or spinach and ricotta pasta say). We were downstairs for lunch, not the rooftop, will have to give that a go. We both went for the gnocchi with seasonal violet artichokes, romesco, "winter greens", even though my wife doesn't normally like gnocchi she was tempted by it and not disappointed, the gnocchi is slight fried and all the better for it. A delicious meal, my only quibble might be the "winter greens" which I think was just spinach(?). Had an excellent 'Evergreen' juice too, not heavily based on apple and therefore not too sweet, allowing the cucumber, ginger and vegetables to take the limelight.

The rooftop is amazing. The Boundary is a fantastic hotel and restaurant. The food is really really good. The service is top notch.

The Rooftop of the boundary is a hidden gem in London. Amazing view, food and wine. But also great service ! Especially the manager Wissam who was very friendly and efficient. I have been going there for a long time and he always makes me discover new wines. Amazing experience overall

Love this rooftop! I've been here twice now! First time on my own on the 16th February, then with a friend yesterday. Both occasions I've had great experiences. The staff incredibly friendly and their recommendations spot on. In particular, Wissam's welcome, engaging attitude throughout my visit was very much appreciated. From the music, deco and ambiance, its definitely a place that I will go to again.

The Boundary Rooftop is amazing. The drinks and food is fantastic. The views are nice and the decor is beautiful. Great spot.

Amazing atmosphere! Everyone is dressed with class and looks so lively. We were welcomed warmly, staff was amazing with recommendations. All in all a lovely place to be and excited to spend the rest of my New Year’s Eve here! Thankyou :)

One of my casual favourites in London! I love to stay at the Boundary hotel due to its location in East London, which I by now much prefer to staying more west, and its casual atmosphere. The rooftop bar is a great place to have drinks and a light meal, its cozy and fun, nicely furnished,fires burning, very good drinks and food. Service was outstanding! I have read reviews saying otherwise but definitely can not confirm that, service went out of their way to make our stay perfect!

Went for business drinks and terrace small plate. Bad oysters! Rude welcome downstairs which I have heard from lots of people now. Super try hard attitude and could be better. A couple more friendly staff in the evening .. perhaps as we spent over £500. I would go somewhere else next time which is a shame. Not cool anymore but I guess good views is you can take the long wait. Recommend evening over day.

We ate on the roof top and completely enjoyed the experience. Our food was very well done steak and sea bass. More importantly the service was impecable. Would highly recommend Boundary.

Upon arrival we have been greeted with a friendly smile, great atmosphere. The food we ordered was including very simple charcuterie board, very bland arancini. The strong wind blew off my cocktail from the table and the manager resolved the situation which showed us great costumer service!

I just love boundary rooftop, the staff is amazing , food amazing , please try the oysters and amazing cocktails and wines. They have heathers and blankets. I shall return

Came here with a friend for dinner and drinks and had an average experience. Food was okay but nothing special and certainly not worth the amount we paid for it. Would go elsewhere in Shoreditch in future.

What a lovely spot. Great vibe, delicious food (the Cote de Boeuf was cooked to our exact liking), and our server was just fabulous - so engaging and helpful without being intrusive in any way. We enjoyed a long leisurely dinner in fabulous surroundings - what's not to love.

Excellent location, the overall experience would be outstanding if the food was improved in terms of variety. However, the choice of a Mediterranean menu is a winner for me...well done!

Served gone off food, a lot of the food ran out before 8pm and service was really slow (I had to wait over an hour for a water glass and had to ask 4 times to get one)

We asked if we could be seated outside on the rooftop and the waitress was able to accommodate us, we really enjoyed sitting out in the sun. Cocktails were great, quick service and with a smile. We planned to say for just cocktails but ended up with some nibbles, all delicious. Will be back.

Really enjoyed my first visit to the Orangery. Great service and atmosphere and delicious food.

Enjoyed Our Meal, and a Perfect Place to Chill Out.

Overall a lovely venue especially as it was a sunny day so we sat outside. The menu is very limited particularly for vegetarians in fact there is only one vegetarian option - ratatouille. Mine came out cold at the bottom so it had to be re-heated. We were still charged for it. I would go again for drinks but wouldn't recommend it as an eating option.

Poor / un-attentive service. Not really any ambience, food very expensive for what you get - booking staff rude and unaccommodating.

Boundary has been taken over by new owners since the last time I visited. The menu is short, uninspired and unable to cater to allergies and vegans. I was so surprised in 2022 that a restaurant would be so rigid, especially having been amazing for both gluten free and vegans previously (hence rebooking) It's a real shame that it has gone so downhill as the location and ambience is stunning. We ended up leaving to go have dinner elsewhere. Still amazing for drinks though.

I would've rated my visit 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that the venue allowed a group of three women to sit next to our outside seating area (right in the centre underneath the heater) and smoke their disgusting cigarettes - this happened multiple times and completely ruined our whole experience here. I think the venue should have a designated smoking area, as even though it's a rooftop, the smoke was hovering with us and we were inhaling it second hand. Other than this, the service from the staff and the food/wine was lovely.

Venue, staff and ambience were great but the standard of food wasn't great sadly. Not somewhere I would return if I was looking for a great meal specifically.

Disappointing in the extreme. The experience didn’t match the advertising hype. The ‘table’ booked for 4 was a coffee table with mixed seating. We were warned it only lasted 2 hrs on arrival and then the service was so slow most of the time was wasted. The lunch menu was limited and very pricey so the expectation was the quality would be top notch. From long observations around me (due to the wait) It wasn’t. We could have had the same meal in a burger bar for a tenth of the price. The only thing in its favour was the roof top (which I had booked in case it rained & would be covered. The weather was great so that was pleasant. I took my grandson & friend visiting from the USA and expected to treat them. The initial service meant we went for the cheapest route out. Not recommended by me and not impressed by the ratings or advertising which misled me.

Food expensive and not great quality. Service was slow and had to gain their attention multiple times. View was lovely. Would only come here for drinks in future.

It is a lovely place with a beautiful outdoor terrace and a nice cosy interior. The service was really good and the servers were extremely attentive. The food however was terrible! The fish was great but the chicken & steak were terrible (especially the steak). Didn’t finish a lot of the food as we weren’t that hungry so wanted to take the food home in a take away box for family but wasn’t allowed so had to end up leaving most of the food on the table! Don’t think I’d come back again as I think being able to take the food you’ve paid for home is important

Lovely setting however it was very cold in the restaurant. The menu was lacking, we had the burger which I thought was average at best. Staff were very pleasant and welcoming.

Great atmosphere and delicious food. Our waitress was amazing.

They changed the menu from what we wanted without telling us despite specially phoning to check. We had to ask to be served 5 times. We’re rushed through because of a large group, asked questions on the menu that we got the wrong answers to but only found out when the food arrived. Not good. Go to Dishoom opposite.

Nice place with nice people, and a welcoming team. With a view at night that was beautiful. And last but not least, fine cuisine.

I booked for drinks only so didnt try the food but the warm cocktails in front of the log burner was a brilliant ambiance. I really enjoyed the experience and attentive service

The artichoke soup was our favourite. The cote de boeuf and chocolate fondant were also really good.

This was a lovely atmosphere with amazing service. I felt the food could have been better quality for the price of the meal. This was a set menu for Valentines but overall the experience was lovely.

Service was pretty average to be honest, but ambience was good. Food was nice but out of the 5 maina on the menu... There were only 2 available, pretty poor form

Limited menu made worse by a number of options unavailable. When we ordered the substitute to the beef fillet, we were told there was only enough for 3. When this did arrive, it was barely a good enough portion for 1. Bread for the fondu didn’t arrive until we had finished the cheese This place is a nice venue for drinks, but would not recommend for food, menu is limited and overpriced and service unfriendly

The steak fillet was second to none so good melt in your mouth Parmesan fries also recommend great night

The serving staff 100% undermined the whole experience...showed a terrible lack of service, not paying attention to anyone, missed opportunities to up sell rounds of drinks, failed to explain menu, just generally way too shabby given the premium nature of the experience.

Great restaurant, was really friendly service throughout and now nice surroundings

We had a terrible lunch - half of the menu was not available and instead of telling this to us up front so that we could make a decision as to whether or not we wanted to go somewhere else, the waitress ‘drip fed’ the dishes that were off menu, letting us order an expensive bottle of wine. In the end we had to leave as there was nothing available. Shocking service, the restaurant should either have closed due to lack of food or rung me in the morning to explain the situation so that I could make alternative arrangements. Won’t be going back.

Unfortunately for us, the menu items that we went there for (Raclette or Fondu) were both unavailable. Cocktails were great. Service was ok. They rushed us for our orders (drinks and food) but after that it was difficult to get their attention for more drinks and the bill. It all just felt a little underwhelming.

Friendly service and delicious food, would definitely go again. The lighting from the kitchen was a bit bright at times, but didn’t detract from the overall experience!

Our second visit was even better than the first. Its clearly the go to place during the spring and summer months. The rooftop lounge is just so well laid out, spacious and modern with a terrific view. The staff are just amazing. You feel so welcome from the moment you arrive until you leave. Our waitress, don't know her name, but she's just awesome. Helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back.

There was no indication that they didn’t take cash payment, very disappointing that it shortened our night, we do a fund raiser for work cash bonus and we can’t spend it. Really really terrible. They need to be clear before taking our orders that we don’t take cash, some of use are trying to get a mortgage, or are balancing our finances. Very very poor. Everyone els even better restaurants higher level like shard are taking cash. This is no shard fix up

We booked here for my daughter’s 18th. It has a lovely atmosphere. The food and cocktails were delicious. The staff were really friendly. We were served by Nicole who couldn’t do enough for us. I’d highly recommend.

Stunning food and service. Could do with a couple more heaters in the Orangery, but then we were close to the door. Will defo be back!

Not really worth the money. A bit overrated. Had to confirm the table 3/4 times so expected more and we’re disappointed as we were celebrating engagement and didnt hear anything back when we let them know. Expensive for what it was.

Starters and desert were great but the main was massively disappointing, probably one of the worst cooked lamb meals I've had in a very long time.

Loved it but food could improve. The place is lovely and very cosy, definitely worth it.

We had an amazing lunch here on Saturday afternoon. It had a real chilled vibe, and the rooftop looks gorgeous with its festive lights and open fire. We will certainly be back!

Not great value for money, food is average and quite expensive. Very loud so not great for a 1:1 conversation or date

Starters poor quality meat could not cut it . Mains again poor quality meat could not cut it . Limited menu which is fine but another vegetable or potatoe dish on the sides would be good I had duck , well it was presented to me , this came with brocoli, the only potatoes side was chips . Freezing cold , heating only on the far end . I do not wish to sit and eat , with my coat on and a blanket over my legs . Also the food if edible was cold. Although we gad an amazing waiter one member of staff I found very rude and patronising when questioned why no heating. They wheeled in a patio heater , I feel sure possibly this is not allowed . I would not venture back , such a shame I loved this place

Fabulous meal in a lovely setting. The winter rooftop bar is beautiful and the restaurant has a lovely vibe with friendly staff. The crispy cheese ravioli was a revelation!

Service was great, very friendly! And the outside area was gorgeous! Needs more vegetarian options but other than that my partners steak was cooked perfectly!

Place refused to add one more person to the booking despite it being EMPTY. Arrived to the table with two empty seats after I begged to add just one more person to the booking.

Restaurant did not acknowledge it was my birthday, after including it on the booking. In addition, we were being rushed off the table.

Boundary Rooftop is a beautiful restaurant, very relaxed and comfortable, but I am afraid that is where the positives end. We arrived for a family lunch on Sunday and were pleased to see it was not busy and had a lovely relaxed feel. It was a cold day and as part of the restaurant is out on the open-air terrace the door is constantly opening so a little chilly. Service was slow from the start but we were in no hurry so seemed fine. As we started ordering our food we were told that of the 5 main courses, 2 were unavailable! We ordered our food and thoroughly enjoyed our starters (especially the squid) but when our mains arrived we realised there were no sides with the lamb (which we had not be advised about) so we just had a lump of lamb on our plate. They did rush some fries for us but there were no vegetable sides to order. For dessert the situation was the same. Of 4 choices, 2 were unavailable- 50%!!! Overall the service was slow, inattentive and unapologetic considering the lack of food available. We would not go back to eat at the rooftop - for a drink maybe as the setting is lovely - but otherwise don’t bother.

Did not have most meals on the menu, food was ok.

We really liked the roof top but it did look dated. The furniture and the decorations. The biggest challenge was the open fire place that did not have any cover such as glass so when the wind was blowing we were constantly covered with ash and sparks.

Restaurant was amazing - so beautiful and picturesque. Food and service were equally amazing, we were really looked after and taken care of all night. Really made my birthday special.

Nice location and the rooftop is a great place to chill out. The food is nice enough. The beetroot gnochhi and caasoulet were great, duck breast more average.

Great food loved the beetroot gnocchi and salad -we sat outside to get some air and there was plenty of space . Probably would have turned the music down a little.Was perfect for a business meeting.

The service was fantastic. Food and drinks were also very good and it certainly helped that the sun was shining down on us. I would have liked to have been given the option to sit in a non-smoking area as the table next to us had smokers but that really is my only downside to a wonderful two hours spent here at Boundary.

Had a fantastic late lunch & drinks in the sunshine. Weather was perfect, food was great and the service was excellent. All the staff were attentive & friendly. A special mention goes to Nicole who was lovely. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again.

Food was decent but on the pricier side. We had a nice server. Good views and ambience. We sat outdoors without realising it was a smoking area... would've liked if there were sections for smoking and nonsmoking.

From the moment we arrived to when we left was just the best experience, the food was lovely and Stefan our waiter was so friendly, engaging and a credit to the restaurant.

The menu is a bit limited, and so if you're looking for choice, probably not the best option. But the ambience was definitely nice - minus the promised views though.

It would be very good to have biodegradable take-away containers for when customers don't finish their meals; they can then take the rest of the meal home, as opposed to it going to waste.

Food was ok, the scenery and location were great and that was the main appeal for me.

Sad to say it was not a pleasant experience.The staff seemed to try their best but the service felt 'forced'. Waiters looked miserable. Some of our food was undercooked. The focaccia and salmon tartare was nice. Beautiful setting. Odd atmosphere about the place

Was a quite afternoon lunch, but the service really let this place down plus it was quite cold and breezy a few of the windows could have been closed to make it better. Food was average so was overpriced for what it was.

Great service by the waiter Yassine and the front of house staff. Delicious, flavoursome food and cocktails. A well thought-out menu of quality ingredients and blends. A small party of 3 celebrating a birthday was a great place and space to relax and enjoy the company of friends amongst a great setting, with impeccable, attentive service. Thoroughly recommend this venue!

Was all good until they needed our table back, rather asking they just put the bill on our table when we had full drinks and rudely said do you want to pay…. When we said we didn’t ask for the bill the waiter said your time is up and was rude. Then another came up and said they need the table for a wedding. Why not just say that it was all just a bit odd Drinks are seriously over priced. Food was tasty and good value but doubt we would go back

Perfect setting for a chilled evening… staff were very tentative and happy to accommodate to our needs. They where able to move our seats twice as we preferred to be outside to soak up the sun. I’ve been a few times but it was the first time for my best friend and she loved it and already making plans to return with her mum

Lovely food and atmosphere. What stood out most was the impeccable service from all staff. Highly recommend.
