I don’t know why they’ve changed the way food is presented and the seating as these are not positive changes. A few months ago, I would have given 5 stars, now I struggle to give 3

We used to come here regularly but the service and quality has gone downhill massively. They now have self service for cakes and sandwiches but have put the prices up!! It was difficult to get a piece of cake with the tongs without the cake falling apart. All the plates were swimming in dirty dishwasher water. The cakes weren’t labelled for allergens which is a particular concern of mine as my son has a severe peanut allergy. The service for coffee was extremely slow. Some of the cutlery was dirty too. We will not be going back as the whole experience was very poor. It seems they expect the customer to do more for themselves but charge more for the privilege!! Maybe they should let us wash our own dishes and forks so at least they will be clean.

I tend to bring my mum here to shop. We always use the cafe because it's very convenient. Not sure if how they do the bacon and sausage sandwiches has changed, but the bread was really hard and the bacon was almost black. This has been the case for the last couple of visits. Not sure what's happened...

Boundry Mill is a great place to visit for many things, clothing, household etc, but not for its cafe. My goodness what slow service! We had this same experience last visit & speaking to friends really poor slow service is the norm. Not enough staff serving at the counter for whatever reason, my wife had a 25 minute queue to get a couple of coffees . When you’re walking round such a big store it’s obvious you’ll need a break. I’m afraid it’ll be a while before we return to the cafe..

Just had a very pleasant lunchtime meal... yes, the choice was a little limited - probably due to them still being particular about covid. Everything was in boxes and just toasties and baked potatoes to be ordered as hot meals (as far as I could tell) but the sandwiches were super - lovely soft bread and very well filled - we had a crab and prawn and a salmon and cucumber. Came back later after the shopping for a cuppa and a bun :) Very well set up for social distancing. Tables all clean and tidy. The best thing of all were the staff who were friendly, efficient and willing to help.

We shop at Boundary Mills Catcliffe quite frequently and overall I am quite happy with the experience with the exception of the cafe. This is the third time I have tried it and I kept hoping it would improve, it hasn't. The menu itself is very limited, mainly sandwiches or filled baked potatoes, neither of which is very good. The level of hygiene is poor, sticky tables and unclean cups, on this recent trip we asked for our cups to be changed. Worst of all is the overall ambience, there is none, think bus shelter cafe on a poor day. Even with regular free drinks offers we will not be returning.

We went as a group of four friends and expected to be able to eat, drink and chat. No such luck! The music was so loud it made talking quite impossible. I asked a member of staff if it could be turned down but was told that the staff have no control over the volume, it is controlled from above, whatever that means. The food was quite nice but the queue was so slow that by the time anyone got to the checkout the hot food was cold. The floor wasn’t very clean, the carpet was littered with waste food. I appreciate that the shop and restaurant were busy but I think they could do better. Not enough staff. Music too loud. Floor dirty.

Took my Mum here for a quick lunch. The place is clean, tidy, nothing special in terms of decor. Food choices are a tad limited, and on the expensive side, but we managed a toasted tea cake and shared a scone, with a drink each. So why the low review? Quite simply the service and progress through payment is very poor. There was actually no one serving or to ask questions when we arrived, so I leant over to lift lid off soup option to see what it was. At that point someone did arrive thankfully. Queue building up, I ordered two tea cakes, grabbed a scone and then proceeded to check out. One poor harassed member of staff not only operating one of the two till points, but also having to leave till to get drinks for each individual customer. By this time there are some eleven people all queuing, many with hot food going cold as they wait for this farce to get to their turn! I did mention what a poor system it was to the staff member, adding that of course it wasn’t her fault, but there were a lot of dissatisfied customers in that queue, and it didn’t let up the whole half hour we were in there. No help came, it really is a very badly thought out staffing model. There were two staff happily keeping the place clean and tidy, but its help on the tills, or someone to do the drinks that are really required. We shall go to Morrison’s cafe next door next time.

This store is local to us so we tend to take it for granted but when we look at it from a non locals point of view we have to say "what a lovely store it is". We didn't visit the restaurant this time so cannot comment but as usual the store had its usual huge amount of "stuff". They stock near enough everything you could need for the home and also mens and womens clothing (but not childrens clothing). They have a BHS outlet section that has some childrens clothing along with other "stuff". There is always absolutely loads of staff on hand and they are very helpful. The toilets are immaculate but on saying that, two of the hand driers in the ladies toilets have been out of order the last 2 or 3 times we have been.

Called in for a bite to eat whilst shopping, it's okay. There are some good points and petty average points. Good points: plenty of seating, pleasant environment and atmosphere, Good disabled easy, access, custard slices are delicious, most cakes are very nice infact, wide selection of drinks, hot and cold food. Average points: cost, sandwiches, salad bar and hot food. I think the quality of food could be quickly and easily raised by making sure hot food doesn't dry out whilst on hot plate and placing a lid, cling film or cartouche on the salad items thus keeping them fresh. Today I was put off the hot food and tuna mayo for precisely these two reasons. Found the quality is inconsistent, usually average/good or better.

I love shopping at boundary mill but feel that the restaurant is missing a trick. Its long been known that Ikea serve a limited menu of basic food that's cheap to buy and tasty enough to draw people in and I believe the same thing could be done here. The friendliness of staff is hit and miss, the coffee is slightly bitter and average and generally the atmosphere is of a 'caff' rather than a place to meet friends, have breakfast or lunch with a refillable cup, then wander around the store happily fed to spend a little money. Nowadays I still shop at the store but give the restaurant a miss. Shame, because it's a big enough space and it should be full of noise and clincking cutlery all the time.

For it then to be put down in front of you and when you thank the staff a reply would have been nice other than to be ignored. Love the store but hate the cafe - visited yesterday but will not be visiting again. Staff trudge around the tables pushing a trolley supposedly with the job of clearing the tables which yes they did although slothenly and no thought of tucking the chairs back under the table - and no sign of a cloth in sight to wipe the table so every table I approached was dirty with spilled salt, sugar or tea stains. I ended up wiping my own table with a bunch of napkins before I could settle. The cafe is a stark contrast to the store which is kept beautifully clean and orderly and wish I could say this is a one-off but there is a previous review mentioning the same thing.

It seems this place has everything under one roof; other than good food. The top brands of the shopping outlet are certainly not paralleled within the café. We ordered two jacket potatoes- one with beans, the other with prawn mayonnaise. The prawn topping was tasteless and the beans on the other potato were cold and congealed, with the "side salad" possibly being the worst "salad" we have ever been presented with and not appearing to be fresh. Today we ordered 3 lattes (was not asked if we wanted small or large, was served large (large price!) and a bacon and sausage sandwich. The sandwich was okay but the bacon and sausage were pre-cooked and being kept warm. The coffee tasted disgusting. It had never been a latte. Cheap coffee served with what tasted like powdered milk frothed on top. I couldn't drink mine. Also disappointed to find that the beautiful gluten free cake that they previously served was not available and had been replaced by expensive gluten free macaroons. I could nip next door to Morrisons for a whole packet for the price charged for one in the cafe. Shame because I won't be going again!

This is now the second time we have had a meal at Boundary Mills Cafe whilst out shopping in Boundary Mills store Catcliffe. The cafe is large with plenty of wooden tables and chairs. Today we ordered steak pie and peas with mashed potato. Ordered it and paid for it at the hot counter and 10 minutes later still waiting for our food. Asked one of the assistants why the delay and she informed me that our order ticket had dropped behind the counter??? She did immediately get our requested dinner. Why it can not be given immediately when the order is taken is beyond me as the pies were on the hot plate also the peas. The table cleaning service was extremely slow and many customers were clearing other peoples tables who had left. One assistant cleared the tables but didn't wipe them down afterwards. Staff need to be more professional I believe whilst working. The cutlery was very clean but better cleaning of the cups needed as I had to return two. One teabag needed per teapot as it is otherwise too strong in my opinion. It will be a while before we call in again to allow time for training and improvement!

Not great customer service arrived there at lunch time and was not busy at all about 12 people sat down at tables.A staff popped her head round from the kitchen saw us waiting to be served ignored us and went back into the kitchen. When we asked to be served the same member of staff told us there was a 30 minute wait for food .We’d already got our drinks from the self service dispenser so had to stay and pay for them !!We were later told by another member of staff that there was no waiting times on there screen for food obviously the serving member of staff just could not be bothered!!!Very poor customer service and staff member needs sacking in my opinion!!

Always good service. Wished they opened a little later, though. Love to go and have a coffee and a natter. Friendly and miserable staff

Ate in here a couple of times and food at Greggs is always good and don’t usually rate chains but staff at this one were really good and spent a lot of time helping a group of people with learning difficulties ( sorry if not pc correct) with their selections before us which frustrated a few customers behind us but I just watched and though good on you. Would have got five stars but my colleague had to keep getting up to close door which people kept leaving open due to faulty door closer. Please get door sorted

Its the first time we had been to Ikea Sheffield, but we were in Sheffield and needed something from Ikea, we thought we would get a snack at the same time, other branches of Ikea open earlier so you can use the restaurant and gather your shopping but most of the place was closed and the staff very unhelpful. We went to the restaurant and wish we hadn't, the prices are low but the food is lower, inedible in fact, won't make that mistake again! I felt ill for the rest of the day, the food was like warm, greasy and tasted like plastic. The store is hard to navigate on several floors and you seem to walk miles to get one thing and get to the restaurant.
