Went there this morning had bacon and Sausage barm. Was disgusted. We couldn't eat much. Bacon wasn't overdone but was hard and dry where it had stood too long keeping warm and Sausage was of poor quality and burned. Will never return. I have given 2 stars for service and lovely staff

The location of this café is on the 1st floor or for our American friends on the 2nd floor, which overlooks the wonderful Lancashire countryside café has lots of seating, but if it's very busy one of your party needs to find a table first as this café is self-service the food and drink is very nice so after a little shopping go and fill your face

We called for a morning coffee and cake yesterday whilst shopping at Boundary Mill. There is a decent choice of cakes, sandwiches and other food items. However, our coffee tasted diabolical. A coffee shop which sells tasteless weak coffee and apparently many other peoples opinion also. Do appreciate this is not Costa Coffee or Cafe Nero, but surely you can provide a decent barista in what is essentially classified as a ‘Coffee Shop’? Coffee at £3.50 a cup - totally unacceptable.

Stopped at Boundary Mill for a quick look around and decided to have a little bit of lunch, very busy, queuing to get seated, very unorganized, went to get some food, no soup left or pies, salad but only lettuce and cucumber, sandwiches looked miserable and overpriced, staff looked scruffy to say it was a eating establishment, just has a cup of tea! As I was leaving a member of staff came out of the kitchen with clean cutlery and dropped some on the floor, she picked them up and I watched as she put them in the clean cutlery tray at the tills, disgusting, then went to serve food, no hands washed, won't be going again

I must say that I was impressed that a small cafe 's menu would cater to those who choose to follow a vegan diet. The options in this cafe are sandwiches, baked potatose, soup and sweets. They also have sausage rolls with a vegan option. I did choose the vegan roll as I was curious and I must say that I did enjoy it. They also had mince pies for the Xmas season that were good. Service was friendly and price very reasonable.

We went for lunch in the cafe at Boundary Mill, the queue service was random between the two, and not brilliant, and the butternut squash soup and roll were poor. Cleanliness was very good, but that’s all that I can say was! We ordered flavourless and watery lattes and cake. The brownie I ordered was like sludgy sweet cement and after a second mouthful I couldn’t swallow anymore. The remainder of the table did the same which made us feel horribly wasteful and is not how customers should leave feeling. As we had a similar experience on our last visit, I would say don’t waste your money go elsewhere for refreshments.

Me and my husband popped in for a a quick brew, We both had a scone with cream on and jam and a filter coffee each. It was really nice and quiet the day we went but it can be really busy sometimes. We do get free drink and cake vouchers sent but always forget them. The cost for our coffees and cake was £7.83 which is about right i would say. If you use the voucher i think you can choose from three types cakes chocolate lemon drizzle and another one and have a filter coffee or tea. It is not a fabulous cafe just an ordinary one but fine nonetheless. I would go again especially if i use my vouchers. There were plenty of tables and chairs, you could sit on the balcony in the sun if you wanted and plenty of choice and condiments available milk, sugar, cream etc.

Been here many times before and everything has always been very good. We had baked potato each and on this occasion the skin was rather overdone. Quite tough to cut. If they’d had any steak knives they would have helped. Consequently the potato inside was a little over cooked. It wasn’t bad enough not to eat however and as it was about 1.30ish it was late lunch. I had baked beans with it and they were fine and my friend had tuna with hers and that was ok. We were a little disappointed to see the young lady serving the teas had only the top part of her long hair in a net and although wearing gloves to serve the teas she also used her hands with the gloves on to wipe the counter clear of drops of tea etc. Not up to its usual standard this time unfortunately.

Went here after shopping at Boundary Mill. Have not been since they added the restaurant on the ground floor. I found they had changed the layout from how it was before and re-furbished the place. Previous experiences were good so I expected the same today. Sadly this was not the case. Ordered a bacon sandwich and a cup of filter coffee. The bacon sandwich consisted of two rashers of bacon in the smallest bun I have ever seen. The coffee was very dark and I expected it to be strong (not a problem for me). When I got to my table I found that the bacon was cold and the bun was rock hard (not old and out of date, it was fresh). I was only second in the queue so cannot blame the wait at the till for the bacon being cold. The coffee although promising to be strong and tasty was anything but, it was just warm and tasteless. My wife has been to the new restaurant and she said it was excellent. Would appear Boundary Mill are putting all their effort into the restaurant and have let standards slip in the coffee shop. Also I noted the selection of cakes, etc. seemed to be greatly reduced from how it was before. Disappointed and may not come again when I next shop at Boundary Mill.

The bread on my prawn sandwich was beginning to dry out, the Marie Rose sauce had a very strange acidic taste to it, almost like vinegar. My choux pastry cake was clearly overcooked, it shattered into myriad pieces and I actually had to move the froth away from the top of my cappuccino to see if it actually had coffee underneath it. Recently visited Boundary Mills on two occasions. The first time I "enjoyed" the free cup of coffee and cake promotion in the main restaurant. The cake was limited to chocolate cake and Victoria Sandwich. Both were awful - soggy and tasteless. The barn-like restaurant was full of bargain hunting elderly ladies and their reluctant male consorts. My second visit was to the recently refurbished Mrs. B's afternoon tea parlour for which one had to book in advance and pay £20 for afternoon tea. There are 2 sittings at 2.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.nm. I booked (through necessity the 4.00 p.m. sitting and was one of only 3 (three) "afternoon teaers". The decor is superb and for the three of us there was a maitre d', a head waiter (Ali) and 6 (six) waitresses. Heaven knows why they think people take afternoon tea at 4.00 p.m. This is clearly an attempt to take Boundary Mills catering offering upmarket but at £20 a head it has little chance of succeeding given the demographics of BM's customer base. I suspect it is the whim of the chairman or, more likely the chairman's wife. The staff should prepare for their redundancy notices right now. Furthermore, I would replace the (awful) pianist with her intrusive, badly played, out of tune piano with a harpist and increase the number of cakes to make the current (albeit probably short-lived) offering more attractive. Frankly, BM does not have the clientele to be a serious rival to Bettys.

Seems to be in the middle of a recent refurb. Lovely well priced, pre packed sandwiches, cold drinks bit pricey. Hot food limited, and menu was unclear. Opted for a jacket potato and tuna, small side salad and bottle water £4.85) then held up trying to pay whilst people ordering hot drinks in front of me. Cakes looked lovely (£3). Staff clearing tables very helpful and doing a good job. Just needing some tweaking .....and bit more organisation behind the counter.

Hoped to spend a chilled Saturday afternoon with friends drinking cocktails and sharing some delicious food . We would usually always go to Wills across the road but decided to give this place a go . Never again!!! The two members of staff on duty were rude and incompetent and lacked even the basic customer service skills . I would like to say that it was because they were so busy but there were only 4 other customers in the place so absolutely no excuse for such poor service . Really disappointing

Friendly staff and a great cafe inside. Only downside Is the lack of space in the cafe too many reserved spots.
