Used to love Jade and have been going since it opened. However the quality and experience has been on a downward path for a while now. Really poor service today and the food was at best average. For the prices charged it needs to be top notch and sadly nothing about today will encourage me to return.

Asked for a bacon roll - came with ketchup on it. Which was not what was ordered, as hate taste of tomatoes. Sent it back and was brought same roll with most of the ketchup scraped off but bits still stuck to side and major thumbprint in middle of roll, which I assume was a f-you from the chef. Asked to speak to manager and was told there was no manager and no one in charge. Waitress couldn’t even get coffee order right then rather randomly brought a single fried egg on a plate - very bizarre. Also very poor. Usually eat there twice a month but won’t go back now it’s gone to pot… suggest you avoid too.

I use this café regularly; probably one of their best customers, even through Covid, but the takeaway coffee cups, plates and portion sizes have recently been reduced, so I guess the owner Christoph, has become more involved in this branch. Disappointingly small portions this last week and ridiculously small plates result in a worse experience than earlier visits. Staff are still friendly but there seems to be a lot of negativity changes going on here at the moment. 3 stars for the coffee, which is the best in the area, but I think I’ll start to use other local cafés for my breakfasts & lunches

Nice café. Kept in a dated style but quite quaint. Staff were very friendly and smiley. Food was decent, but not the best, but will return to try some of their other options. The tea was great, served in a nice pot and cup set. Recommend!

Not sure if the owner has changed, but the bread used to be quite good. I have noticed on the rare occasions that I still go there that the baguettes in particular are getting worse and the croissants are always over baked (they should be buttery and flaky) …. For £2.30 you would expect to get a decent baguette but the quality is absolutely terrible. If this boulangerie was in France it would go bust!!

Best coffee within walking distance (Royal Standard, Blackheath), but some of the staff could really do with learning some simple courtesy. Or perhaps people over 30 aren't the demographic they're going for, who knows.

Without a doubt I would give 5 stars to the chef and to the owner for their effort and willingness to provide their clients with exclusive gourmet experience in the area. BUT, unfortunately not everyone of their staff sharing their views. We arrived around 11am to have late breakfast with my family. We’ve been given menus and the orders were taken from us. After around 10 minutes, we’ve been informed that they runout of some ingredients and if we don’t mind to wait. We said it’s fine and agreed to wait. Then mistakes started to happen. All because of lack of attention to details. 1st. My son dish - The egg was brought runny instead of well done. 2nd. My dish - there was Hair on my pouched egg. 3rd Three of their staff were standing and didn’t bother to help my pregnant wife to help her with the door while she was trying to come out. And I was outside with the kids. I totally understand that the chef was probably in a rush and didn’t spot the hair, that’s why it is a waiters job just to double check the dish, same story with runny egg. All in all the place is lovely could do much better if there was more attention to details from the waiting staff. There is a room for improvement. I understand that it’s not a fancy restaurant, but it’s not a McDonald’s either!

Wonderful delivery of pastries and bread to make a weekend of Covid isolation that bit more bearable. Good reliable and heĺpful service. Thank you!

Twice now I've ordered a takeaway online, paid with a credit card, then arrived at the timeslot they gave me to find them closed or open but sold out of the food you'd paid for (and had to wrestle with my credit card company to get a refund). They really should not charge people in advance for takeaway orders then refuse to hand over the food that has already been paid for. I suggest they get rid of the online ordering system entirely since the stores clearly are't getting word that people have purchased takeaways and been given a specific timeslot for collection.

Myself and my friend always visit the shop weekly to order coffees and sometime food. We always order the same drink, however the standard of coffee always varies with the different baristas. Also for two small mochas, the price is £5 which is more than I am willing to spend. The baguettes and toasted sandwiches are amazing and you always know they are freshly made. I would definitely recommend this coffee place as the staff are always lovely

Lovely little place. Nice staff and great food. The only reason this isn’t getting 5* is the slow service. Afraid the gap between the courses and the time it took to get menu was too long.

This is relatively new to Blackheath Standard compared to the other eateries which is always exciting to have a new place to meet for coffee/lunch. I have been a couple of times over the last couple of months and left disappointed. The food is overpriced for what it is and the service is awful, we waited 25 minutes to get our coffee and that was after chasing the waitress. I think the company need to take into consideration that it is not always going to be successful to set up shop in a not so affluent area and expect the same trade that you would get in Blackheath Village or Lordship Lane. Maybe consider offering a different affordable menu in such areas.

We just recently visited London, staying in Blackheath Standard, and it was recommended to us to visit this café. We had breakfast here everyday and then says it all, everything was excellent, nicely presented, hot, and very tasty. The freshly cooked pancakes with fruit or the French toast with fruit were my personal favourite, though the full breakfast is really quite a feast too! Staff were very friendly too and service was great.

Being a regular visitor to this authentic French patisserie I can highly recommend it. There are two outlets in Blackheath village serving in house cakes and breads. The quality is superb and not only are the cakes available for sit down customers but I have often seen larger orders being supplied for parties, for discerning palates. The only draw back is no toilet, which does become a bit of an issue when visiting with children or when having multiple teas and coffees. The other village shops are just outside however and you can usually get around that 'thank-you Costa'. Overall a well run, well serviced light snack place, with even seats outside overlooking the street on a sunny day, for that Parisien feel.
