Bottegino's in South Gloucestershire

This a nice place but it takes a quite a long time for the food to come out. The food is very tasty though and it was worth the wait!

Went there last Monday for dinner with friends. Never been so close to a waiter's armpits and for so long when he brought the drinks over. I shared the salmon pasta (this was alright) and the artichoke pizza (the pizza was very soggy and had no real consistency, extremely disappointing, if you're looking for a decent pizza look away)

We were recommended Botteginos by friends, and I can say it did not disappoint (having travelled over 3 hours from Lincolnshire). The food was excellent 👌 and the wait staff were very welcoming and approachable. Will definitely return in the future.

On a visit to the west from deepest Lincolnshire and decided to sample Bottegino's after seeing the reviews. Didn't disappoint, great food, great atmosphere, great service. Couldn't fault it, highly recommend 👍

The food is ok, could be more tastier, lasagne no white sauce in it, needs more oregano, garlic.

Always busy in here, a family classic since we were little so we come back most years for occasions. We only had three pizzas and they were served exceptionally quickly, dough base on them always delicious. Cheap for the drinks and food we got too, maybe a little too family-oriented for us now, always busy and full of high chairs etc but not a negative to the place itself.

As always, the meals served were delicious. The presentation excellent and the service friendly and competent. A spacious setting in comfortable surroundings. An enjoyable lunch for all .

I would like to thank all staff making mine and my boyfriends engagement party special. Me and my boyfriend had given money to vitile just to making it special for us.

Food great, atmosphere good, but the service OMG!!.. felt harassed and rushed to order. Not a relaxing experience at all felt like i was in a fast food restaurant.. 😡

I used to really rate Botteginos but it's definitely gone downhill in recent years. I had made a booking but still had to wait to be seated and was prompted to wait in the bar area. Once seated, we placed our orders and not long after our food was brought over. I remember the pizzas being really good but this was average at best. It was fine but nothing memorable, somewhat bland. It took absolutely ages to try and get someone's attention to bring us the bill, we then eventually went up to the counter area to pay and they accidentally gave me someone else's bill. An easy mistake, sure. Once they figured out what the correct bill was we were able to pay and leave. What was supposed to be a quick dinner out ended up lasting a lot longer than expected.

Great local casual Italian restaurant obviously very popular. We went on a Thursday night and it was packed. Food was tasty and large portions(we ordered a pizza and carbonara pasta with garlic bread). Great friendly service.

Had a great night here tonight for our monthly meal out with the boys. Normally go for a curry but decided on an Italian for a change. All waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, even with our loudmouth member who thought he was funny 😁 . Big thank you to Reenie (sorry of spelt wrong) who was exceptional,funny, engaging and joined in with out banter and fun ... a real credit to the Restaurant!

We went for a pizza, and what an awful experience. We had to wait 40 minutes for rhe pizzas with a hellishly loud music that made difficult even to communicate with the waitress that was less than a feet from me, and you cannot even hear each other at the table. The waitress at least cared for our delayed order, vut that does not change the facts. At the end pizzas were not even worth the time we waited. Definitely we will not go back there.

Authentic Italian food and hospitality, not like the usual "fake" Italian owners from nearby countries, just tasty well spiced and cooked speciality foods and desserts

I went in last night with a group of 5 other people and we were all ordering. Me and my wife wanted to share a half and half pizza and when we asked our server they told us that it came as 2. We were confused and asked why and he said thats just how they do it. We thought okay well maybe they dont do half and half they just do two separate pizzas so we went ahead with it. I then asked to order a lasagne as well (again to share with my wife) and this confused the server even more. He then again confirmed it was 7 mains and we said well really we only want one half and half pizza but whatever. Everything was going well and we got out starters really quick which was nice, then they brought out our mains which was 2 full size HALF AND HALF pizzas! Why did he make us have 2 pizzas when they could make us 1 half and half? Anyway as the time went on, I asked another server and she couldn't apologise enough. She explained we didn't need to have 2, we could have had just the 1 pizza and it must have been a misunderstanding. I then asked her to box up the WHOLE second pizza that we didn't want, and she did, then we was charged for both pizzas even after only wanting one. Everything else was superb but given that we only wanted 1 pizza and was made to pay for 2 because of the servers misunderstanding is crazy and so I have given 3 stars today.

Been coming here for years, however if this is their new standard we won’t be coming back. The pasta dishes lacked any flavour at all, and certainly not the chilli or cream that was mentioned on the menu. Also it’s an Italian restaurant that doesn’t serve the dishes with fresh pasta? Very poor.

Not the most relaxing of evenings, having chosen to dine here with a friend after work. Our meals were hot and a good size, but the chicken pasta dish lacked any flavour despite being described in the menu as having chilli and tomato. No chilli detected at all. Not sure if the staff were looking to fill their time, we were left with the bill on our table without asking for it. Then, no less than 7 times, we were asked if we needed the card machine. Each time we advised staff we were not ready to pay as we were trying to having a relaxing conversation. There were plenty of tables and when asked, they said they didn't need our table. Won't be returning any time soon, this really spoiled our night.

Went for a birthday lunch on a Monday. Restaurant has very reasonable lunch deals so was expecting a small portion but it was more than full size and we couldn't finish it all. The staff were happy to box up the leftovers for us. Very friendly staff, nice food and nice surroundings. Paid the bill and mentioned we were out for a birthday and the next thing we knew the waiter appeared with a bowl of ice cream with a candle in it and they sang happy Birthday to my daughter. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Ok food, portions on the small side. Good service, prices around average for the current climate . Busy lunchtime with a lot of people so staff very busy.

Excellent meal out for a friends birthday. I had the prawn pizza topped with an egg. Absolutely delicious 😋 I had a lovely tasting Shiraz, too. We received excellent service from very attentive staff. I would highly recommend this Italian restaurant.

We went to Bottegino's recently for my son's birthday. I called ahead to book a table for lunch, and I'm very glad I did. I was surprised it was so busy in there for a lunchtime, but they do have a good lunchtime offer menu. I was also very surprised (and relieved) to see so many families in there, as it meant I could relax about my baby disturbing people if she was too noisy. The atmosphere was buzzing and it was a lovely experience. You can tell that it's got a good reputation by how popular it is. The food was lovely. I had the fungi tartara and my husband had prawn cocktail - both delicious. For main my husband had a pizza (which can be boxed to take home if you're not capable of eating it in one sitting 🤣), I had the carbonara and my son had the kids chicken and chips. We were all so stuffed after, that there was no room for pudding unfortunately. However, as it was a special occasion, they made it really special for my boy by putting a candle in some ice cream and singing happy birthday to him. He was delighted. What was really nice was that the day after we went, we had a follow up call from the restaurant to ask how our meal was. Customer service on point! We will return!

Been here twice now. The first time was with my Grandma and her friend (last month). I had a pizza then which was absolutely amazing. The 2nd time was Saturday 3rd February this year. It was my Grandma and mine joint birthday celebration. The steak was absolutely amazing (I had chips with it, but they arrived a bit later which was rectified by the owner and staff). I had a banoffee pie with a candle on it which was given to me by a waitress. It made me a bit emotional when the restaurant and my family sang happy birthday to me. Thanks for a memorable evening guys. Ben

We went for dinner and I was very happy with my food. Starter - pancetta and cheese on bread was great. Main - penne all amatriciana, very tasty and a big portion. For pudding we had tiramisu with a shot of limoncello, which was an excellent choice. I tried some sambuca as well, which I recommend. The staff was very polite and the place was clean including tables and cutleries.

Really authentic Italian, with a child and adult menu. Service was really quick, large area, and nice atmosphere.

Nice staff and excellent food. Lasagna and Luigi’s Pizza were perfect. The only exception was the tiramisu, which was more like a low-quality cake rather than a tiramisu. Despite that, I'm giving 5 stars for the overall delicious food and the pleasant environment.

Went here with my girlfriend tonight and had a pretty nice meal. The food is genuinely pretty good (maybe a tad too expensive) but we had a great time. During the meal, a Christmas float came past outside. It really boosted the evening and was lovely to see, they were collecting the hospital. The kids around us loved it and rushed outside. The restaurant is lacking a bit in atmosphere so this whole experience improved the evening. There were a few people from the hospital that came in and were asking the staff if they could make a donations. I know that the family that run the restaurant are very well off so the fact they removed the hospital staff was very stingy. Actually very confused as to what they're doing this with this. Maybe the restaurant need to start helping people, especially after covid and especially during this time of year. Disappointed and really wish I had taken my money elsewhere!!

Italian restaurant without risotto, we sat at the table but we had to go to another restaurant because we went to eat risotto, we didn't look at the menu before going. at least nice clean place and good service

Great place if you book early you won't be disappointed. Huge portions with option to take a leftovers away in a box, friendly staff , reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. We were in on a Sunday lunchtime and there were at least 2 birthday and a significant year anniversary parties in. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday, without the ' happy birthday ' being played and cake presented, as she doesn't like a fuss, but there were what looked like couples and groups of friends too, so a real mixture in. It was busy but staff were attentive and passing often enough that plates weren't being left for ages to be picked up, but we also we were never rushed. All the food seemed fresh and really tasty, wasn't our first visit and we'll be back again soon! Thank you!

Starter was not the best. Pizza not really great but eatable. I would choose that over many pizzas around anyway. Banoffee pie disaster. Please don’t offer that again or change recipe. I always try to eat my food but the pie was too much. Just couldn’t. Service was good though.

I had dinner with my family and a friend. Not too hungry, so we just ordered 3 dishes and shared. We still ended up very full. Great food and drinks. The waiters and waitresses were very helpful and patient since we took a bit of time to decide what to pick from the menu.

The best Italian around! We travel from bath just for the food at botteginos as they never disappoint. The place is lovely and clean and always has a great atmosphere. The staff are very welcoming and the menu is varied and extensive, I would 100% recommend to anyone in the area!

Girls night out! Delicious food, pizza was huge! Asked for a Peroni and half way through noticed the bottle said 0% alcohol, which I hadn't asked for, was charged £5+ for it so I'm not sure if that was correct. Will definitely visit again and definitely check the bottle before drinking 😊

Pizzas were fine but one of the pizzas lacked the extra we ordered. Overall price was £65 for 4 pizzas, a coke and a large red glass of wine. Being seated in the centre of the restaurant can feel uncomfortable and the noise level can be very loud. Plenty of parking in the retail park behind the restaurant.

1st time eating at botteginos, the restaurant was full,the atmosphere was very good, the service by the girls was fantastic, food came out at the same time, it was hot, delicious, and very good portions too. And the price was very reasonable. Deffo coming back.

It is a shame that this doesn't taste like traditional Italian food anymore. Everything should be fresh but definitely not how the restaurant was 15 years ago. There are better traditional Italian restaurants with fresh Italian food in Bristol, in my opinion. It was just OK.

Ein gutes italienisches Lokal mit traditioneller Küche. Bei den Gerichten schwankte die Qualität etwas. Meine Vorspeise(Bruschetta) konnte leider nicht überzeugen, die Pizza war jedoch sehr lecker. Das Ambiente war an dem Abend leider etwas laut, da 2 Geburtstage dort gefeiert wurden.
