I really like Saturdays. They have the best atmosphere in the evenings after the salsa and bachata classes are over. The DJ is very up to date with reggaeton music. The staff is very friendly too.

Bad experience, the waiter was rude, food cold and late. Caipirinha is not a caipirinha is only a juice of lemon.

I do not recommend this place!! I was served raw food. The staff were unhelpful and didn’t care. Dirty glasses. Just generally a poor standard in every way.

Great service and atmosphere. We were served by Gloria who was very helpful and cared a lot about us! Her recommendations about the food were so great! Deffo will be back :)

The party is good in the place and there is a good atmosphere

The establishment is rubbish, there was an obese woman at the reception who treated me very badly, she made my friend a horrible drink that didn't even have alcohol, she tried to rob me in the face, I had paid £4.50 for a drink, I ordered again the same drink for this obese white woman and she charged me £10, I refused to pay for the abuse. If you go, be careful and always check the amount before swiping your card, dishonest people, and the place shouldn't even be called a bar in Brazil because it plays very few Brazilian songs, completely disappointed and the place is a dump, there wasn't even a light in the bathroom

Cheap and cheerful. Didn't expect too much but the food was really good.

The atmosphere is very cozy and beautiful and the service is excellent. The food leaves a lot to be desired, as the meat that they say is picanha is not, and the beans appear to be canned. I'm traveling and I still miss our delicious Brazilian cuisine.

As a Brazilian, I had high hopes for Boteco do Brasil to authentically showcase our cultural richness for the Carnaval party last Saturday. However, it disappointingly falls short, merely exploiting our name for exotic appeal without embodying our essence. The absence of Brazilian music and staff diminishes the opportunity for us to connect with our heritage. While we didn’t expect a perfect representation, the complete disregard for Carnival, a cornerstone of our culture, is disheartening. Rather than fostering a sense of home for Brazilians, it caters to foreign perceptions, lacking genuine appreciation for our traditions. Boteco do Brasil exploits our culture for profit, making it a disheartening choice for anyone seeking an authentic Brazilian experience. As a result, I strongly advise against attending future events at Boteco do Brasil if you’re seeking any semblance of authentic Brazilian representation.

Best club in Edinburgh. Good Brazilian food to have before dancing.

I loved the atmosphere, such a warming and happy place. As a Brazilian person I have to say the all dishes we ordered were amazing! I would go back there everyday in my trip. I would totally recommend the Mandioca with Carne de Sol, loved!!

Today was meant to be a Mardi Gras/carnival. There was no carnival. Latin music is not carnival. There was no samba. The picture is misleading. There were dancers for 5 minutes and they weren't even dressed up. Boteco gives a bad rep for Brazil. The music is not brazilian, the food is awful. The service is ok-ish. I've been to boteco a few times and every time I leave disappoint but this event was just the worst!

The food and atmosphere was very good, but the service was very poor - the waiter got our order wrong for both food and drinks, then when our starters were cleared we waited twenty minutes before I had to remind a server we were still waiting on mains, at which point she told the kitchen. We were not offered desserts (though we eventually decided against ordering anyway) though the bill was delivered promptly when we asked.

I had a cocktail (piña colada) and it was very diluted, not worth 9 pounds :( my friend had a different cocktail and said the same. I would advise revise the recipe of make it cheaper.

I love the bachata classes but what is wrong with you guys? You charge £9 for sparkling water calling it aperol spritz? 🤡

We have been there to celebrate my birthday and enjoy the Greek night. I had a cheeseburger that was quite good but the chips was fried in oil which probably not used only for fries or was quite overused. I loved the cake fireworks. Thank you

Charlie was an amazing host, she gave amazing recommendation customer service was a 12/10 I would 110% come back just for Charlie. Cheyenne was also amazing, James was okay and shy.

One of your bartenders in the club is so bloody rude (bigger girl with glasses). Shouting at people to move, rolling her eyes and being incredibly unpleasant. every time i go she’s always so rude to me and my fiancé like get a grip! honestly think she should be fired

Shocking service, waited 2 and a half hours, food still hasn't arrived. Bloody starving. Will not be ordering from here again. Staff had the gall to tell me there was no record of my order despite me having received an order number and updates from Just Eat. Would not recommend.

Poor menu and bad quality food - most likely the worst burger I've had. The bun was definitely frozen and microwaved as it became stale in seconds. Drinks were not better either. My partner ordered prosecco that was warm and still. The stuff we're not the most accommodating and there was a bizarre entertainment interval with two barely-dressed dancers trying to infuse some Latin flare. Unfortunately, it felt more like a cheap and kid-friendly strip show

Worst New Years 2023 experience ever. We didn’t have any drugs on us and yet they falsely accused us, they body searched us, two people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnicity (BAME) , without have any substantial evidence. Due to our intersectional identities, we believe we were racially profiled and then searched. The body search was ineffective as we were two PhD students from two prominent university in Scotland and have nothing to hide. I guess we were taken aback as we did not expect to experience institutional racism and bias from a place like Boteco Glasgow.

Excellent place for food and £5 cocktails?!

Comida ruim e atendimento deixa a desejar, erraram na minha conta 3 vezes e nem se desculparam por isso. Uma dica: No restaurante/bar o cliente deve ter uma experiencia diferenciada e sempre ser respeitado.

Went on a quiet evening and food was delicious, staff incredibly attentive and nice. Only disadvantage that it was quite quiet but it was near Christmas time, still a recommended place

Picanha não é o corte da picanha em si, a carne estava dura e tinha muitos nervos. Estava mais para alcatra. Não tinha problema dizer que era outra carne, mas tive uma grande quebra de expectativa quando não chegou o que eu imaginei que viria. O atendimento na mesa foi bom, e no começo achei legal que o pessoal era mais descontraído, mas depois percebi que brincavam demais, e faziam comentários de situações com os clientes. Claro que não todos. Mas foi uma yellow flag. A quantidade de comida foi bem boa, você tranquilamente sai satisfeito. E o preço é ok.

The food was great, nice ambience. The staff wasn't Brazilian people but the guys in the kitchen were. I recommend trying the Coxinha and the Bolinho De Bacalhau.

What’s the point of asking me how I like my meat cooked (I took the picanha) if you end up serving the thinnest unchewable sole I’ve ever seen ? I could’nt even appreciate the sides… I didn’t know it was possible to miss a simple bowl of rice. Let’s call it a disgrace to brazilian cuisine, don’t even come for the Caïpirinha they’re way too sweet.

We decided to order tapas. Food was dry (no sauces), bland taste. We would have been better off buying a frozen selection from Farmfoods and badly heating it up ourselves. Really disappointing as we wanted to try something different. We ordered 6 tapas and our table for 2 was too small for putting the dishes on. We did complain to the manager and were offered complimentary desserts but we wanted to leave as soon as possible and put it down to a bad experience.

I had booked this place by ringing and confirming about the dance floor. We were there last night and got to know by the Manager that the dance floor was booked for a private party. There was no email or any notification about this. Very disappointed.

Unfortunately it was quite when we were in but apparently it can be really fun and people dancing etc. the snack food we had was lovely tho. Drinks fine.

Absolutely stunning Food, tried multiple tapas and the most amazing seafood main. The rice it came with light, fluffy and flavourful with a beautiful complex flavoured broth with seafood. Would highly recommend for a bite to eat and would definitely go again

Nao tem nada de brasileiro deveria trocar o nome. Só tinha salsa 💃, a caipirinha não é caipirinha e sim algo misturado com limão. não recomendo horrível experiência fui para uma noite de baile com funk e só ouvi salsa como se estivesse em cuba. Atendimento ok mas o serviço no geral não chega se quer perto de Brasileiro deviam trocar o nome e não fazer a propaganda enganosa (pois foi exatamente assim que me senti ao sentar em um ambiente totalmente brasileiro mas sem bebidas, músicas e o principal da cultura o astral a música e etc… Horrível sério levem meu contrario a sério por que se quer bebi e me senti super mal por que se quer tocarem um funk, ou um pagode ou algo do tipo . A única coisa que tem de brasileiro é a decoração . sabe aqueles gritos que acham que no Brasil fala espanhol foi exatamente assim que me senti em um ambiente completamente diferente do que realmente é. Não recomendo e com toda certeza nao voltarei.

I dunno what I expected but I felt it was very underwhelming and something I could have done at home! Nothing tasted particularly fresh or had any exciting flavours! Restaurant wasn’t busy at all and toilets looked dodgy to say the least! I know this is a venue more for the weekend and late nights but no I don’t think I would go back to eat there

Food depends, if you ask for a cheap burger then expect that typical microwaved patty, but if you ask for a proper meal then the Chef will sort you out! the music is very good and the staff is friendly.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times when visiting Edinburgh but this time it was not so good. The lady who brought the food to the table was very miserable, quite rude and didn't crack a smile once. I accidentally dropped my knife, she picked it up but did not bring me another one. They brought the starters and mains out at the same time. The restaurant was quite busy. I didn't like the fact that the football was blaring out very loudly (which personally I don't like or TV's on in a restaurant) On the whole the food was Ok, nothing exciting or special and the fried calamari was soggy and not crispy. All in all, a disappointment after our previous visits and I do not think I would return after this experience.

Where to begin? I was craving some pão de queijo. Things were not good. It was microwaved. My partner is Brazilian, we make our own frequently and these paos we're inedible. Why are they being served on a bed of rocket with lemon? Just cook them properly, save the lemon (with a cut in it, as if prepared for a glass) for the drinks and the rocket for the burger rather than that disgusting slab of lettuce. The burger? Why are you using cheap frozen fake flame grilled patties full of gristle? McDonald's serves better meat. The bun was stale or terrible, it was too hard, too thick and too wide for the burger. The sauce. Holy moly. Why is there so much sauce? I love mustard, but why is this burger dripping into your lap and down your hands with zero provocation? There was also a hair in it. The moqueca was bland. It needed more salt than the Makgadikgadi to taste appetising. Service was non existent. I almost had to do the team America secret signal to order and when the food was delivered it was with swift intent. We asked for ketchup and were greeted with a pot of the cheapest sachets on earth. Just charge me £1 more per meal and give us a bottle. We weren't asked how our food was (maybe for the best, or maybe she knew how terrible it was) and a similar set of antics were required for the bill. I was also not asked which meat I wanted on the "epic monster" burger, that would've gone a long way. Please take this constructively and do better.

I just ordered from them around 9.48pm. They close at 10pm. They accepted the order, the driver was heading there and they cancelled it at 10.51pm. Until someone from deliveroo itself called me saying that they cancelled the order. We waited an hour to get no food.

Visited recently in a 13 person group. Wasn't aware that we wouldn't have one table so had to split the group into two booths which was okay but better if we were all together. Food was okay, steaks were very over cooked even though people asked for medium rare. Two orders were incorrect, so took longer as they had to be redone. Confusion between the staff were we could seat an additional person at the tables as well which was quite odd. When we came to the bill we couldn't split the bill at all. Understand splitting it 13 times but couldn't even split between groups of people. No reason why just a flat no we can't. Other resturants throughout the weekend did this without question. Overall there are better choices for larger groups so look somewhere else.

One of the few places where you actually get a decent service. The manager, Amado was courteous, polite and entertaining. The dancers created a lively atmosphere and even taught the audience some steps. The variety of the cocktails was a positive surprise. The downstairs club is amazing and a real must for students even if only for a drink. Highly recommended.

Everything is good about the manager girl ! gives a negative atmosphere in the bar and with the customers, and when you ask them for a drink with a face as if they are working under force, it seems that they are offering it to you instead of you paying for the alcohol, it always creates negativity for no reason, instead to be welcoming!

A bit like a sports bar but soccer changed to music after we arrived. Good tapas and cocktail, and nice to see staff training taking place. Does what is says on the tin.

Tenían la cocina a punto de cerrar y nos cogieron la comanda. Luego nos atendieron con cariño y sin prisas y encima la comida estaba muy rica y a buen precio. Gracias por todo!!!!

Great pub in the middle oh the burgh

This is the worst restaurant in Edinburgh. The tapas was among the most expensive and bad value for money I’ve ever encountered. Sitting on a bed of what I can only describe as week old rocket were tiny portions (4 miserable badly seasoned) rings of calamari , four prawns from Iceland and one chicken drumstick and thigh. The salad was allegedly cherry tomatoes, palm hearts and pomegranate what arrived was canned palm hearts filled with the taste of antiseptic brine, no tomatoes or pomegranate. No dressing except for a side order of Cosco budget mayonnaise. Revolting costly food that you wouldn’t eat unless starving. The waitress was as nice as she could be and they offered a miserable 10% off the bill. Avoid at all costs.

Food is very nice, not a fan of tapas being served in paper box tho, but maybe it’s just a presentation to show the authenticity. Very busy venue, generally everyone working in there is trying their hardest to take care of you, but it’s not easy as it’s too busy.

The Belgium beer was the only good thing about this place. The service wasn’t that great and there was an additional 10% charge on the bill. Also there was a miscommunication on the order, so we had to wait longer for the food. Speaking of the food, it wasn’t even lukewarm and the chips were too salty. The bathroom smelled like piss.

Its a nice, rustic place with a warm vibe and cheap drinks! Often live music and dance events, great for a dose of latin american culture

Despite advising waitress I was gluten free and choosing a GF option I was served a beef dish with bread on top. When I asked if if it was GF bread she checked with kitchen staff and they said no and she took it off my plate. Obviously hadn’t relayed a GF guest to the kitchen. Beef was hard like hard leather and I could hardly cut it never mind chew it . Awful and £25 . Used to be decent place for food but won’t be back. Then waitress sitting eating food on her break beside guests with her feet up on a stool. Disappointed with meal.

Get Picanha steak plus seafood tapas

Seafood moqueca was amazing! Not too busy during the festival, either. Reviewing mainly as a reminder to myself to come back next year instead of queuing at the stalls by the stages!

Communication difficulties! Ordered 2 mains that were the same. Got one to share but portion seemed to be for one person. Certainly not £30 of food in front of us. Still hungry so ordered 2 plates of tapas and got 3. What we had was nice, enjoyed cocktails but left feeling ripped off.

Favourite place to go dancing in Edinburgh. In particular love the live bands they bring 😍

Pros: Lovely dog (may not be affiliated with the restaurant) Cons: Ordered my food during Fringe 2022, arrived during Fringe 2023. The bar is manned by devout Monks who had gone blind copying the bible. Ordering a drink was impossible, perhaps due to their policy of alcohol temperance. Brought the wrong food. (Service was very slow, they messed up our order, the bar staff wouldn't acknowledge me despite being free, they forgot to bring our drinks, the food was just okay)

They had a band come in at one point, but the room is very small and the noise just bounced around the room and no one could hear each other and the music sounded bad as a result. Service was okay, despite none of them knew that we prebooked the set meal option and we had to repeatedly tell them all what we ordered. The white wine friends ordered was awful too. Honestly, overall, it was just terrible. Go elsewhere.

Staff were friendly and attentive, atmosphere was good (live music just after we had finished eating). We had booked the 3 dishes and a cocktail £15 deal online, which had apparently stopped that day, but they honoured the deal still which was good of them - and generally the food was tasty. But front and centre on the website it states there are vegan options... unfortunately the only vegan option was a vegetarian burger made vegan which wasn't nice at all.

Last night (15th July 2023) Was my first night at Boteco. I had a great time with my friends a fun, carefree, non-judgmental environment. I am trans and no one gave me any problems and there was a lot of laughing, dancing and fun 🙂 I *highly* recommend this. My only recommendation for the owner is please bring in some vegan options in the menu 🙏🏼 I had the spicy fries which were delicious but more options would be good. I love Piña Coladas and this place is the only place in Edinburgh that I've found a proper one 🥰

We had an amazing dinner and incredibly friendly and accommodating staff. Great menu recommendations and they let us eat outside on their patio despite it being closed. Such a wonderful restaurant and atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back.

The food is expensive for what you get. The music is good but the place was quite dead on a Friday with a latino event being on.

It was horrible... The name is boteco do Brasil buy there is no Brazilian song only latina songs it's better change the name, it was also a mess no organization.

The place is really good, drink price is amazing, the visitors are the best an amazing tropical vibe . About the bar staff only 1 girl was nice, she was blonde with long hair, she was soooo kind and super polite with us, the rest of the crew super surly, I think you should reconsider your staff, the DJ was so rude to my girlfriends. Besides this I loved the place , a good option for a girls night out.

Comemorei o meu aniversário no Boteco, e foi como ter um pedacinho do Brasil e América Latina comigo. Muito funk, reggaeton, comidas típicas do Brasil, caipirinha e bossa nova.

The food took ages to be served and when it did the picanha was not on the way we wanted and was unevenly cooked

Food was decent. Had the pork stew and the fish stew. Food was authentic as the kitchen staff are Brazilian. Avoid the draft beers as they tasted of pipe cleaner. Music was Spanish which was bizarre but my Brazilian girlfriend thought it was odd
