My partner and i had breakfast only £7 each for 2 sausage, 2 bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes , beans, 2 slices toast and egg either fried or scrambled. My partner added black pudding for 60p extra. Good quality products hot and tasty great value for money. I'd previously gone for lunch with my son and his wife on the Friday before and my daughter in law and i had home made meat and potatoe pie which came with fresh hone made chips, mushy peas, gravy and beetroot and onions in separate pots - £9 - all absolutely lovely. My son had lamb shank with mash and mixed fresh veg in a red wine sauce - £12 - he thoroughly enjoyed it. Sad news is it's closing mid March due to the horrendous rent that the landlord is charging 😔 totally bad news for this area as it is a very popular eating place and the staff are great.

Very busy place we called in for some lunch very good special board with lots to choose from they also do a separate gluten free menu friendly staff who are all young and doing a good job food was very well priced and tasty chips were lovely little disappointed out take could of done with a wipe over from last customer I did ask but it was not done. Would we come back yes we would burger and chips £6.50 that’s impressive I would advise booking a table enjoy

Third time we have eaten here and it was delicious 😋. Great food generous portions, good service. A real gem of a find. My husband and I had scampi with homemade chips, peas AND a lovely fresh salad. Also one son had lamb shank with chips and veg and elder son enjoyed burger 🍔.

My friend and went in here after walking along the coast from Barrow. It was very busy and we were asked if we had booked as all tables had been reserved. We didn’t but the girls managed to get us a table anyway. So glad they did as we were cold and in need of a hot drink and there wasn’t anywhere else to go. We had the steak baguette and pulled pork wrap off the specials board. Both were amazing and had big chunky chips. Pot of tea and coffee and cost was £20. Lovely warm place. Staff are lovely. Good amazing, what more could you want. I’m would recommend booking though if it’s lunchtime Saturday as many people were turned away.

I’m due back up north next month to visit family and I’m already booking a lunch. It is home cooked great wholesome food. The meat and potato pie is for me, it gets 5 stars. Piel Island is a beautiful place to visit.

This is a truly great little place we found at the end of a causeway in Roa Island, Nr Barrow. Their menus are quite varied serving delicious home made food. They are very busy during their opening hours and when we visited it was packed. At the front is a separate takeaway menu area, where they provide seating while you wait for your snacks or multi flavoured ice creams you can order.

Had a lovely jacket potato with cheese that came with side salad and coleslaw. Nice menu to choose from. Nice Toilets too and friendly staff. Couldn't fault it. Lovely location near the ferry to Piel island. Free Car park nearby and public toilets.

A little Gem …. We weren’t really looking for food (just hot drinks) but as it was raining we thought we’d hunker down for a while. The ham, egg and chips were amazing (the best my partner has had in a long time) and the staff were really friendly and efficient. If you find yourselves on Roa Island I can definitely recommend!

Rang to book a table. The person who answered said the'd be right back...I assumed they were busy! Well I waited,waited and waited...life was ticking away. I must have waited 15-20 mins. I was growing a visible beard by this stage. I then decided I could be fed and watered elsewhere. I do hope they replace the receiver sometime or they may struggle with telephone orders. The food is probably delicious, but I shall never know?

Visité para almorzar, especialmente el personal de Fawn fue alegre y servicial, nada era demasiado problema incluso cuando cambié de opinión en el último segundo. Todos disfrutamos nuestra comida, excepto uno, no estaba convencido de que recibió lo que pidió (pollo tikka masala) parecía más dulce y agrio, eso fue lo único que decepcionó nuestra visita. Como siempre, estaba ocupado, así que aconsejaría a cualquiera que reserve previamente una mesa para evitar decepciones.

We went to the Bosun's locker for afternoon tea, just for a treat, what a treat it was too! Freshly made sandwiches, with salad and crisps, yummy freshly made cakes and scones too, and choice of tea or coffee, vegetarian option available (which I had) all served with smiles from friendly staff. I'm not a big eater and couldn't manage everything, so the waiting staff kindly boxed it up for Me to take home. All for £8 per person! (Win win) ;)

I can understand why this place is always booked up on a sunny day, it's cheap and cheerful and the food is good! It's not exactly gourmet cuisine but it's good homecooked food, the portions are generous and it's quite inexpensive! I wish the specials menu would update more often, and the pie crust is often soft like it's been reheated in the microwave but other than that I've no complaints! Definitely a place to go if you're having a nice lunch treat

Popped in here for a hot chocolate and toasted tea cake, both of which were lovely! Friendly service and reasonable prices. It can get quite crowded at times though as it is only fairly small.

Great breakfast and service with large family group. Opportunity to dine inside or out and great ice cream selection for the children. Variety of main meal options more often seen at larger establishments - Lamb Shank just fell off the bone. We recommend this establishment.

Came here as I was staying in roa island & some people had put up good reviews. I ordered some chips & took them back to where I was staying which is walking distance from the restaurant, well....the chips looked stunk so bad & was soggy as if they were the last chips scrapped from the bottom of the pan! We threw the chips away & decided from that we were not going to buy & eat anything more from there again.

Sono andata in questo ristorante l'anno scorso, e mi sono trovata veramente bene dato che il locale è vicinissimo al porto e quindi si può anche fare una passeggiata sul mare, e in più i piatti erano buonissimi, abbondanti, e a prezzo moderato. Spero vivamente di tornare, lo consiglio!

Only just discovered this place after hearing good things. Turned up without booking and was lucky enough to get a table - a very popular spot for lunch it seems. Soon understood why. Fresh food, generous portions, efficient service and great prices.

This is our first visit of the year to this cafe and we found it to be just as good as on previous visits. W e sat in the yard behind the cafe in the brilliant sunshine and were the only ones in there at about 1 30 but were joined by a few other people in a very short time. They have a specials board as well as a very extensive menu. We chose paninies which each came with a lovely salad in a bowl and a small bowl of crisps along with a dish of coleslaw and dressing. All the food is freshly made so a short wait is sometimes possible but well worth the wait. It is good value and brill food staff are lovely too! MOre than well worth a visit!

We cycled out to roa island for brunch, eventually deciding on a large homemade soup. This was the freshest, tastiest soup I have had in ages. Filled a hole and was very reasonably priced. See you again next week 🤣

I love this place. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It’s a very busy cafe and so it should be! The food is all homemade and delicious, the portions are huge but so tasty you can’t leave them but if you can’t manage to the staff are happy to box it up for you. The afternoon tea is out of this world! Who says you have to have fancy plates filled with nothing? Served on a plate full of sandwiches and salad and crisps. The the sweet plate arrives it’s amazing! The lamb shank was cooked to perfection the devilled kidney was delicious. The salad is huge!

Always top food what ever you order always made to order so might have to wait for being cooked , but time soon passes as you always knows someone when you are in to talk to .Will be back soon.

Went here to celebrate our Mum’s 89th Birthday (4 of us). We had the afternoon tea which was delicious and value for money £7.75. The staff were brilliant and even sang ‘happy birthday ‘. Gave us boxes to take cakes home in. Would highly recommend.

So rare to find this kind of place let alone one which does it so wonderfully well. To start with just look at the range of food, then check out the amazing prices and the generous portions - all the dishes seem to have come from my mum's Good Housekeeping Cookbook and are done just as well as she did them. WEewere lucky enough to be sitting outside on the warmest February afternoon tucking into a fantastic chicken, leek & tarragon pie with plenty of proper veg whilst my wife did her best to finish a huge steak and onion baguette before joining the never ending queue for fantastic ice creams to finish. Piggy time all around but sooooo worth it. Fully deserves every word of praise - loved the whole place.

Don't quite get the fascination people have with this place. Popped in for a snack and drink, whilst there was nothing particularly wrong with the quality it didn't stand out to me and the service is patchy. On both my visits in the last year I've waited at the counter to pay and staff just come and go without acknowledging that you're there until they've finished their other jobs

Stopped for lunch Sunday 27th Jan, I opted for Sausage and Bacon Baguette, and the wife went for one of the Baked Spuds, both excellent, well priced, friendly staff. Nice little cafe fully deserving of its high rating on Trip Advisor

Rang to reserve a table, which I recommend for this busy little cafe. Very good menu , covers everyone’s taste. Food and service was excellent and the coffee very good. The only complaint was not the cafes fault but inconsiderate customers, on a cold windy day only one person bothered the close the door properly

Stopped in here for lunch while showing visiting relatives the area. We were lucky to get a table as it was packed (always a good sign). The choice of food was extensive, freshly cooked to order and extremely tasty and of good quality. We would recommend this little gem and definitely return hen in the area.

Arrived on a sunday morning and it was already filling up. Plenty of choice on the menu. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food arrived and it was hot and very delicious.

Been a few times & always been happy . it can get quite busy around lunch times & could do with a bit more space between the tables . Home cooked chips are lovely & plenty to choose from the menu & specials board. Only bottled beers on offer . Nice beer garden when the weather is good.

We had lunch today 1/12 our first visit to bosuns locker and won’t be our last. I had pie chips & peas this came with a jug of gravy and small dishes of onions and beetroot my partner had lasagne with chips & salad. Both meals were fresh and tasty the chips were excellent. The menu is good lots of choice plus they have a specials board. We had a pot of tea and a soft drink plus took 2 home made cakes home -£21 in total not bad for the quality of the food. The 2 young waitresses that served us were polite and helpful. I can understand why it gets busy and we were lucky to get a table without booking.

Acabo de regresar de una visita a Bosuns Locker. Visito con bastante frecuencia y siempre he estado más que contento con la comida, el servicio y el amable personal. Hoy el hombre que tomó nuestra orden fue muy grosero. Pedimos el desayuno todo el día. Le dije al camarero uno sin frijoles por favor. Mi hija dijo que podría haber huevos revueltos. Parecía un poco perplejo, así que dije que los huevos revueltos son para el que no tiene frijoles. Se puso un dedo en los labios y, de repente, me dio la oportunidad de escribirlo. Dije perdón y esperé a que él terminara. Luego me dio una conferencia sobre cómo tenía una serie de preguntas que hacer y no le estaba dando la oportunidad. Me disculpé de nuevo, pero él continuó diciendo que no le había dado una oportunidad. Le pregunté a mi hija si quería quedarse y ella dijo que no. Dijo que vas y yo dije que sí porque eres muy grosero. Dijo lo suficientemente justo. Cuando nos íbamos, lo vi mientras hablaba con una miembro del personal de la señora que nos echó un buen vistazo y se echó a reír. Repetí que él es simplemente grosero y se fue. Vivo a un corto paseo del Armario de Bosun y he visitado con frecuencia. La visita de hoy fue una desgracia! Yo y mi mamá estábamos sentados y nos fuimos a mirar el menú.

Encontré esta pequeña joya remota en un día frío, húmedo y ventoso durante las vacaciones. Parece bastante simple en el exterior, pero mi bondad es lo que se deleita en contemplar una vez dentro. Rústico pero hogareño, con un extenso menú y un "tablero especial". La comida casera venía con porciones generosas y todo tenía un precio muy razonable. La comida tradicional reconfortante fue muy bienvenida y nos quedamos con una gran variedad de entrantes, sopas, mariscos, platos principales, pudines, helados, chocolate caliente, bebidas alcohólicas e incluso té por la tarde. Todo fue hecho en casa, recién cocinado y servido con prontitud. El personal era amable y educado. Recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar y solo desearía haber vivido más cerca.

Este es un lugar encantador justo al lado de la costa. Se ve mejor por dentro que por fuera. Menú variado, personal realmente amable y servicial y excelente comida a precios bajos. Buen ambiente náutico. Teníamos el cordero (tabla de especialidades) para 7. 50! Carne tierna, salsa de menta encantadora y bonitas patatas fritas y verduras. Volveremos en cualquier momento que estemos cerca de la carretilla.

LOVE LOVE LOVE ser llevado aquí, es nuestro lugar ideal para ocasiones especiales o simplemente para preparar una crema o un refrigerio rápido, un té por la tarde o una fabulosa comida casera. Toda la comida es deliciosa y un precio muy razonable. Los pasteles son caseros y bocados de delicias. Hay una gran variedad de bebidas, varios tés, cafés, chocolate caliente con o sin las obras y vimto caliente, horlicks, batidos, bovril y los modernos zumos, calabazas y bebidas gaseosas.

Café amable, limpio, limpio y muy popular. Tuvimos la suerte de conseguir una mesa y después de ver toda la comida servida no nos sorprendió. Ambos fuimos por el pescado y las patatas fritas. Ellos fueron increíbles. El bacalao era tan fresco que se sentía como si alguien lo hubiera atrapado. Las patatas fritas eran fichas adecuadas, caseras y maravillosas.

A day out down the causeway brought us to Bosuns Locker Cafe, we were greeted with a friendly smile, had not booked but many tables were, a very good sign.

This is a popular place, clean and inviting a maritime theme, we booked for lunch which turned out to be a good idea. The service was very good and the staff very friendly. We were early which was no issue we were shown to our table and had a drink, the menu is quite substantial with something for everyone.

Cod and chips from the takeaway absolutely delicious. Chips crispy. Fish lovely. We had to wait for quite a while but worth every minute

We were off to Piel Island and stopped at Roa for lunch. Roa has free parking and this place is a walk away from the jetty for the little boat to Piel. The Bosuns Locker was really busy when we went with some tables reserved but we squeezed onto a table for 2. There is a good menu of basics with some great specials too - local shrimps, fish cakes, salads, chips, sandwiches etc. I had the Thai fishcakes with sweet chilli dip, chips and salad and it was huge!! Great salad, too, and some proper good chips! My pot of tea had about 4 cups-worth in which was great. This place is casual, easy going, friendly, great straightforward food and the prices are really reasonable. This was my second visit and I will definitely be going again! (They also have English Lakes ice cream for afters which is gorgeous).

The place does not look that great but the food is good, well worth a visit. I called in for a lovely Sunday roast, you not believe how popular it is and you will have to book specially at lunchtime. Service can be very slow but most people who go in are not in a hurry. It can take up to 25-30 minutes for your food but if you are prepared to wait you will be rewarded with a good meal, good quality and lots of it.

We have been here many times and it's about time I left a review! You don't need to travel far to get this high standard of service and quality. The food is cooked to perfection and good value too.
