Smashing little cafe with friendly staff, anything on toast is fab here for breakfast and Eggs Benedict is divine. Great coffee, good honest Yorkshire value, bikers made welcome, and folks with dogs. Plenty of space outside and in the market Square if too busy, also have a serving hatch for the outside. Highly recommend

Nothing out of the ordinary, simple basic sandwiches and tea. You really need to sort out your outside seating, it’s in an awful condition in the main.

I always make a point of visiting here for the bacon bap as always been good. It must have been a bad day as the bacon bap was poor. There was no butter on the bap so very dry. The bap was lightly toasted. Plenty of bacon but overcooked. So disappointed. The cafe was not busy and it was midweek so expected better quality

No fuss cafe in the centre of town. Good range of “honest” no fuss food. Very good eggs and sensibly priced menu! Tea / coffee £2.40! Two poached eggs, beans and toast £6. This is proper Yorkshire value and great service with it.

After our horrible breakfast the day before at another cafe in the area, we chose to try somewhere else before we drove the 3 hour journey home. Reading the menu outside we decided to try it as it said a toastie was £3.50 and chips an extra £1 so Liam and I sat inside and he chose the Bacon Brie & Cranberry toastie and chips then I chose the Eggs Benedict, to drink was an apple juice each and Liam also had a pot of tea. The food was YUMMY! Very filling too, definitely couldn't fault it, even the service was great....until we came to pay. Turns out the toastie was £6 and chips were £3....so DOUBLE, just to sit inside and we felt that was a massive miscommunication on their part and slightly disappointed but paid it anyway. Would I visit again? Possibly...

I was really disappointed with our food. And with the really snappy service from the takeaway window. Yet I’ve eaten inside so many times over the years and that’s been really good. But with COVID still rumbling. Safer to eat out Ordering was snappy. The food very poor when it came. The cooked breakfast too salty and yuck. The table filthy. Never saw any tables being wiped This was the stack of used coffee cups. Yes you were busy. Well I’m afraid you need more staff. Or you won’t get repeat trade

A previous reviewer suggested that this is the quintessential English tearoom and I would disagree, simply on the basis of what is on offer here. Rather than simple pots of tea with scones and cakes, which I would suggest is the quintessential image of a tearoom, I have enjoyed everything here from a Full English, burger and chips, bacon butties, a great range of toasted sandwiches, salads etc., as well as the aforementioned scones and cakes. I would suggest therefore that this is a fine example of a typical British cafe. This has been our preferred cafe in Masham for several years now and the quality of food on offer and the excellent service has consistently been top class. They now offer plentiful outdoor seating in the Market Place as well as indoor seating and the high number of people enjoying hot drinks and snacks in the sunshine was testament to this cafe’s continuing popularity.

As the title says if you are looking for a quintessential English country tea room, look no further. It has seats and tables outside for take away food served from a window or tables inside for a more formal affair with a greater menu. We were sat in the quirky cove and served very promptly. The staff were all super friendly and food was delightful. Recommend the eggs Benedict a particular favourite of mine. Good value, good service, good food...easiest 5 stars I will ever give

Popped into Masham on the off chance we would find somewhere to eat after visiting Thorp Perrow. Surprisingly it was busy both inside and out, however, we managed to find a table for the four of us. Drinks were ordered first which arrived very quickly, food was ordered and arrived in a decent time and hot!!!!! I had the bacon and cheese burger and i have to say it is the best bacon and cheese burger i've eveer had. The chips where great, and the coleslaw was epic. I kid you not, the food here is bloody fantastic and well cooked. Not rushed out like a lot of other places. My family had the paninis and another burger. All were piping hot and a pleasure to eat.Service was excellent and nothing was too much. I’m so lucky to live just outside Masham and to have such a fabulous cafe in the town. It’s a regular haunt on days off(in normal times) and a place to meet daughter and friends for a coffee and a catch up. The staff are amazing and over the years have watched my daughter grow to the mid-20’s young lady she is today and have always welcomed us with a smile and a chat. During these strange times and once they were able to reopen for takeaway they have welcomed back locals and tourists alike and with cakes like the one in the attached picture from Brownies Bakes(my photo skills do not do it justice!!), it shows why we all go back and have done so for so many years! Thank you for always having smiles on your faces and for looking after us all so well over the years, we’ll keep coming for as long as you’re open!

Bordar House is centrally placed in Masham, right on the market place and on market days you will see a constant procession of market traders heading there for refreshments. But this is no ‘greasy spoon’ . I haven’t had breakfast there (yet!) but watching people enjoying the full English is all the advertisement they need.I’m a coffee drinker, and not a fan of those complicated machines, but when I asked for coffee, Lucy reached straight for the filter coffee. That’s 10/10 for a start. But what makes this place really want to go back is the staff and the welcome. They are charming and personable. This was not my first visit, but I’d heard that my missing wallet was there. I can’t believe the lengths Lucy went to track me down, combing through the evidence in my wallet, none of which had my local address. But being reunited with a wallet is such a feeling. Yes of course the wallet makes me want to write a good review, but I’ve already mentioned the food, the coffee,... and the people the - and they deserve 5 stars on their own. Oh, and did someone mention the date slice....? Mmm

Even though Masham is a relatively short drive away,it's the first time we'd visited in over 20 years.Feeling hungry,we liked the look of Bordars so in we went.It was very busy with only one free table, which had the used crockery & cutlery from the previous occupants. Not a problem,a delightful lady instantly appeared, cleared it all away and wiped down the table. Our orders were taken and 10-15 minutes later we were tucking in. I chose the all day English breakfast @ £8 may appear a tad pricey but it included tea/coffee + 2 slices of toast along with;2 good sized sausages,3 rashers of bacon,2 hash browns (best I've ever had),beans, super black pudding & a very tasty fried egg. = very good value for very good quality. My wife and daughter both had different dishes and agreed with me.The cafe was very clean, the staff genuinely friendly and very helpful. My only moan is the tables seemed a bit too close together but apart from that;a super cosy place with an extensive menu and lovely staff. Will definitely return.

Don’t understand the hype this place gets, we’ve now had a cold and hot sandwich from here, both times were absolutely average at best. We've been visiting this cafe for years, but this time it was dire. Food was OK but portions have shrunk. Arrived and sat down but no-one came to take our order. Four more lots came in and they dashed to take their orders and ignored us. After about 20 minutes we managed to get the attention of one of the girls who reluctantly took our order. Another 20 minutes before the food came. Mine was OK but my wife's fry-up was cold. Won't be back ever again.

Warm welcome from the young, friendly staff even though they were very busy on a gloriously sunny Saturday morning.

Great menu with a specials board too - had a full English brekkie with toast & marmalade with a pot of tea for £7.50. Can’t go wrong. Friendly staff and service was good. Veggie options available too - will happily visit again

Good range of dishes from small to large. Panini was very good! Salad served with it. Crisps come with sandwiches too! Very good range of cakes too!

Stumbled on this little eatery while visiting Knaresborough on a Sunday lunch time. We went in to get maybe a sandwich and thought it wasn’t going to be great to be honest but ended up having a cooked lunch and it was so good! The place was busy and you could tell they were locals as they were chatting across to each other. We looked at the menu and decided to have have a cooked meal. I ordered pie chips and peas and my husband a burger with chips salad and coleslaw and a pot of tea. You could actually get a 3 course Sunday lunch for £14.50! When mine came there were no peas but another bowl soon arrived full of fresh vegetables and a big jug of gravy. Food was really good the staff were lovely. The lady said that as she had been cooking Sunday lunches she gave me some of the veg. We were thoroughly impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. Great food and great value for money! Definitely worth trying!

We popped into The Black Mulberry for a drink but ended up staying for a bite to eat, and I’m so glad we did! The food was delicious, with generous portions that left us more than satisfied. The staff were really lovely, super friendly and made us feel welcome right away. The place itself has a cosy, relaxed vibe, perfect for a casual meal or just grabbing a drink. Definitely a spot I’d visit again!

The staff are great. They accommodated our new baby and made sure we had room for the pram. The food is the best quality whenever we come. Every time we come it makes me think why we didn't eat there before this year!.
