Booths in South Lakeland

When you see a Booths establishment you expect it to be better than average but I am afraid the cafe was a big let-down. I asked at the counter if any of your cakes on display were suitable for Vegans and was met with a 'I don't know'. So, we only ordered drinks. I ordered the Moroccan Mint Tea again, a massive disappointment. I would say the tea pot supplied was one third full of loose tea leaves and undrinkable. We are not from the area and will not be back for a few years but will remember this establishment as a place not to visit.

No loyalty card so 2 coffee and cakes go up in price by 40 per cent rip off price for day trippers.have shopped in booths in carnforth staff very pleasant takeaway meal deals very good value.but prices are expensive compared to other local supermarkets.

Nice, clean supermarket cafe. Friendly, helpful staff. Limited choice after 3.30. Prices on display are only applicable if you have a customer loyalty card so a bit misleading.

This was a good grocery store to stop at after getting off the train since it is right by the station to pick up some food to-go before heading to a rental home in the area.

Review for cafe. 8.30 am queue of 7 people waiting to be served in the cafe. 1 exceptionally slow (but friendly) girl serving. Literally waited 20 minutes to be served. By the time I was served, another 8 people had arrived behind me. Girl serving made zero attempt to speed up. Finally at 8.55, another staff member appeared. This 1 server till 9am scheme may work in winter months but not in JUNE!! Or at the very least get a staff member on this shift who can shift their ass! Totally unacceptable.

Popped into Booths whilst awaiting for our train journey home and it was my first time visiting, I was pleasantly happy! Although everything is very highly priced, similar or more than Waitrose prices!

came here for lunch whilst staying in Windermere on a short break .Had the pea and ham soup and the turkey and Brie baguette . It was really lovely great quality and price .Nice drinks too in particular the cawson,s rhubarb and elderflower . Wouldn’t hesitate to go again

Visited Booths Windermere for the first time today, brilliant, well stocked selection and friendly staff. Especially Will, it’s great to see such smiley faces. I don’t live local but i’ll make the effort to return in future.

It was very busy when we popped in around mid-September, but staff were very helpful despite being rushed off their feet. The meal deal for sandwiches was different to elsewhere but we very much enjoyed the different offerings. We didn't find much else in the way of picnic food, some pies, but official picnic season had ended I suppose. However with a 1 year old baby we try not to eat out at restaurants too often while on holiday, as she gets restless being confined to highchair. I have never been to Boots before as none local to where I live, but it seems like a nice upmarket supermarket. Plenty of free car parking with adequate time to shop and / or visit the cafe. The toilets were clean but there were queues for the ladies, as shop was very busy.

Great food and drink and awesome service from very caring and helpful staff. We will certainly return.

Used to enjoy coming to Booths and always picked up something different for tea. The deli quality and levels of stock are not what they used to be. Usually I go I. About 2:30 and it’s sometimes almost empty. Do have a good wine and spirit selection with small batch and locally produced spirits. Always seems like there isn’t enough staff, always have to queue and it always seems very congested at the cash point area with the tills and people coming in and people leaving at the same time.

My experience of booths over the years has been slow service, limited menu and grub which could be not brilliant. What a pleasant change at Windermere, great service, quick and efficient, excellent all day breakfast and very pleasant staff, clean cafe with good access for everyone, clean and easy accessible toilets.

Booth`s supermarket is excellent and I wish I had one here in my local area in Nottingham as would shop there regularly.

I've eaten a fair few curry's and booth's own brand curry's are the best curry within 70 miles. Spices, flavours the ingredients are excellent. BOOTH'S OWN BRAND not any other. Lots of my friends are from India and when asked where do they eat, generally say my mums. Most curry houses now its all too oily and sauce bought from pataks ect catering sizes not all but most. Give booth's own a go.

I have just returned from holiday in the Lakes. Booths seems like a really nice supermarket, overall. However, I was really struck by how utterly rude one staff member was to me - Carol I think her name was (on her badge). I had wanted to get some hot food by she was so rude that I eventually had to go and get something else. I don't know how the supermarket can accept such poor customer service from its staff.

Was really looking forward to one brand duck spring rolls from here they were so spicy and had so much hoisin on we couldn’t eat them. Next night we got own brand sausages they were also awful so spicy.

Went for some groceries and decided to visit the cafe. The cafe was bright and airy. Coffee and tea were hot. Went for the drink and cake deal. Large wedge of black forest cake. The sponge was light with plenty of filling between the layers. Saw another couple having afternoon tea so will be back to sample one of those.

Good choice of items spacious aisles the butcher had some amazing joints to choose from the cheese store was my favourite lovely Liz helped my son to locate the corned beef and I got some really tasty cheese too prices not bad for a individual store the cooked food ie chicken jacket etc wasn’t looking very nice but it was late afternoon the cafe was good and the lady in charge extremely helpful and pleasant this is a shopping experience not a nightmare

If you didnt know then you will miss this supermarket as was part of the Windermere Railway Buildings and Bus Station. We found everything we needed and all produce is displayed perfectly and not crowded aisles. The cafe is much bigger than first appears and overlooks the trains as they arrive and depart.

All the food is sold at a reasonable price. The food is tasty and there is a good range stocked. The bakery food is very nice (including the treacle tarts). Overall a brilliant shop. Shopping starts a ten, browsing from half nine.

Esperamos 20 minutos y después de preguntar constantemente dónde estaba la comida, nunca apareció. La razón fue que había un nuevo chef de servicio y no pudo producir esto. Right up there with Waitrose but not necessarily at Waitrose prices. Good fish and meat counter. Look for the reduced offers at the end of the day.

Handy store adjacent rail and bus stations. Great range of hot and cold food selection. Excellent cafe for lunch.

Booths in a northern supermarket chain and is of a particularly high standard that is on a par with Waitrose at least. Plenty of fresh produce and bread etc. Had their pre-packed Indian curries one evening and they were lovely. I particularly recommend the medium spiced tandoori chicken tikka Marsala, really tasty. Also try out their flavoured balsamic vinegar's, very nice with olive oil and fresh bread. Plenty of parking outside.

Booths is a family firm selling good quality local local produce. They have a hot counter for take out and also have a cafe. We go often.

This place is a bit pricy but does sell super produce. We used their ready meals when using a self catering cottage and they were first class.We always have a look on the reduced section as they do some bargains. Always have the the afternoon tea such a treat and good value.

We decided to try the afternoon tea today. The tea was really nice but we couldn’t get the offer price of £12.50 with our temporary Booths loyalty card (our plastic card) has not come yet so paid £15.00. We thought it was still good value. Cafe was quiet. Definitely recommend.

How did we spend £90 on so little? Haha, it was all such amazing quality though. We were staying locally for 4 nights and visited Booths for a little shop. Their butchers and fishmongers were brilliant. Nice local produce. Staff were friendly. Car park very busy so if you have mobility issues then perhaps get dropped off near to the entrance.

Did a bit of shopping before heading home after our day out in the Lakes. Bought local cheese , bacon , eggs and bread. Then had a snack plus drinks in their cafe. Very nice , service quick and friendly. Like shopping in this chain.

Arrived for lunch chose afternoon tea for 2 and other food for 2 others,food was good. But customer service sadly lacking for one member of staff who when asked to change a dirty cup did not interact at all and when she bought the afternoon tea just put it on the table with no interaction at all , perhaps not the job role for her a smile would not go amiss.

Really enjoy shopping in this supermarket, only been to Windermere & Keswick but groceries on a par with Waitrose & M&S.; It;s refreshing that Lake District does not have Tesco etc round every corner but sticks to Booths. Las cabinas eran geniales y la comida era de primera calidad. Fuimos allí todos los días para toda nuestra comida y servicios para nuestras vacaciones. Se lo recomendaría a otros. Some of the staff don't seem to know what they are doing. There is obviously a training issue here. I think politeness is key to customer service and it is sadly lacking in the cafe. It used to be good.

He oído hablar de este supermercado Windermere antes de nuestra estancia de una semana en una casa de campo local. Comprando varias veces durante nuestra visita, tienes que comer, y cada tienda fue un placer. Fácil aparcamiento, excelentes productos y, lo que es más importante, personal amable y servicial. Solo puedo desear que tuviéramos tiendas como esta más cerca de casa.

Este fue uno de los cafés más desorganizados en los que he estado, para que te sirvan pensando que es allí donde ordenas, nadie te dice que debes ordenar en la caja fuerte, no hay letreros que digan esto, la gente te pone delante. obviamente he estado allí antes y el personal simplemente te deja estar allí. Pedimos cafés a una persona en la caja mientras que la otra tomó nuestra sopa, luego otra chica vino a la caja para tomar nuestro pago, preguntó qué teníamos y dijo capuchino al que dije café con leche, ella respondió que es el mismo precio , entonces ¿por qué preguntar qué estoy teniendo?

Love this place, great quality across the entire range of products here. It cost a little more but satisfaction is guaranteed. No negatives at all here for us ! The cafe is also very good. 3 hour free parking for shoppers.

The locals say this is like a nicer Waitrose. I would agree. I found this a good store with high quality produce and prepared foods. The egg selection was particularly diverse!

Approfittando delle 3 ore di parcheggio gratuito abbiamo visitato il supermercato e fatto un veloce pranzo al bar. Il supermercato è fornitissimo con tanti prodotti invitanti presentati in modo impeccabile. Anche il bar è ampio e spazioso con buona scelta di panini e piatti freddi; il personale è gentilissimo.

I always visit Booths when in Windermere, as their selection of fresh meat and poultry is the best quality. The bakery is always a favourite as well. Whilst I don't do all my shopping her, as it can be a bit expensive, some things are worth paying a little extra for. There is also a cafe with a good selection of snacks and drinks. The toilets are always clean. Parking is free for up to 3hrs for customers.

We enjoyed an excellent afternoon tea for two. A bargain at £12.50 for Booths card holders. The food was better than recently experienced at a 4 star hotel in the Lakes although the ambience is that of a supermarket cafe. Recommended.

At first glance the price appears a little excessive for a supermarket but you will not be disappointed!! More than enough for 3 people fresh and of good quality. Just one point was not aware tea was tea leaves but strainer provided.

What a great supermarket. Easy access at the top of Windermere. Large car park, and lots of choice of fresh produce, in fact all you could wish for. Moronic standard of driving / parking not their fault!!

We are long-time Booths' Cardholders and shop in our local Chorley store weekly - a lovely clean store with fantastic, fresh produce and always of a high quality. Our local store have the friendliest staff who go out of their way to help you. However, we stay at a holiday home near Windermere regularly throughout the year. Each time we stock up at Booths' Windermere for all our holiday food. Again, the store itself is lovely, well set out and with the usual Booth's high quality and good variety of produce. Unfortunately, on a couple of occasions we have been served by an extremely severe checkout lady, an older lady who is quite "sharp" in the way she talks to customers and has "snapped" at us so often in the past, each time due to her misreading a situation (e.g. barking at us that we are not entitled to a free newspaper/drink as they are only for Booths' Cardholders, without giving us the chance to explain that we are, indeed, Cardholders) It has got to the point where we avoid going to her till. Yesterday afternoon (Sunday 5th August) we went to pay and decided to opt for the checkout next to this lady's, where we were served by a young male member of staff who was extremely pleasant and helpful. We are so glad we did not go to the scary checkout lady, as while she was serving her customer, a foreign gentleman (obviously a tourist) was hovering around near the checkout desks, panicking because he could not find his wife and their coach was leaving. He was getting quite distressed, when his wife suddenly appeared from within the shop. As she made to leave the store she had to pass the scary checkout lady, who, even though she was busy serving customers, stopped and shouted at the foreign lady to come back as she had not paid for her goods (she was carrying a couple of items that she had bought elsewhere) It was terrible to watch the disgraceful way this staff member treated a visitor to this country. The checkout lady continued to shout at this poor tourist who tried to explain in broken English, that the goods were hers. Everyone in the shop stopped and watched, as the by this time, very distressed tourist lady, walked over to the checkout lady and proved the goods were hers. The checkout lady then very begrudgingly apologised after she had upset and humiliated the poor woman so much that she shouted back at her "Don't do that again!!(we felt like cheering that someone had finally stood up to this bully). The young man serving us was apologetic and embarrassed about his colleague's disgusting behaviour. I realise that shoplifters do exist but surely there are better procedures in place for dealing with such situations than literally yelling across the store and humiliating people. This checkout lady needs to be strongly advised to keep her mouth firmly shut and get her facts right before verbally attacking customers. In our opinion, she ruins the Windermere store.

Brilliant selection of local produce and some delicious home cooked freezer meals. Highly recommend.

Always look forward to visiting when we visit the Lakes. Had a very good cappuccino with a bacon roll. You have to go to the deli for the bacon roll and bring it back to the cafe. Different price to that shown on the menu. Disappointing that after all that, the bacon was not hot!! Shopping afterwards was good.

I always love visiting a Booths store is a truely unique and different shopping experience from the well known 4 well known brands but One thing was is disappointing is not opening enough tills at the busy times as I had to wait ages for a manned check to become free because there where bug ques and only after 10 minutes waiting the duty manager hopped on the till and invited trolleys over to the till not people with a few bits and basket who don't like using self service

Shocking same soup for a month there is local that live in the town that often come in for lunch and you have put your price up from £3.75 to £4.00 and it's the same for 30 days this cafe has gone down hill over the years shame on you have taken away all the hot food and now serve just soup and sandwiches and cakes and you can't even be bothered to change the soup daily does it work out cheaper to buy in bulk the staff are lovely and your not thinking of locals at all we're not all on holiday sort it booths

Friendly knowledgeable staff, good range of stock, excellent beers, wines, spirits dept. Great for grabbing a meal deal takeaway lunch (with free coffee for card holders) when travelling by bus or train as both stations right next door.

My husband and I were staying in the lakes for our mini moon and decided to stock up the rented cottage we had for the week. We popped into Booths and loved it, we certainly spent more than we were planning but couldn’t resist some of the lovely foods and drinks on offer. The sausages from the butcher counter were AMAZING! It is a nice supermarket with imaginative stock. The restaurant was clean and the staff seemed keen to please. The food was excellent value. I particularly recommend the home made soup.

We always pop into Booths when in Windermere - free parking. The coffee and cake is always great but tried the soup this week. Both were superb - thai sweet potato with chicken noodle and celeriac with apple. Neither soup is one one I would normally try but loved them both. Large helpings and not expensive.

There are 3 supermarkets in Windermere - Booths, Sainsbury and Co-op. Booths offers the widest selection of items. They are the only supermarket in Windermere that provides for hot food and cafe. You can get full roasted chicken (approx £5), burgers and pies from the hot food section.

This is our first port of call whenever we travel up from Derbyshire to the Lake District – which is usually at least twice a year. We pick up groceries for the several days of our vacation stay, and perhaps enjoy a coffee.

This is an upmarket northern supermarket chain (Cumbria, Lancashire, North Yorkshire), which sells lots of quality local produce. Amongst other things, they have an excellent cheese counter an extensive selection of bottled beers, which are reasonably priced. Check out their original range of reusable shopping bags, which are currently in store.

We only get the chance to visit this place once a year; but it's worth it! The goods are original, the staff are friendly and professional.I have had an email in my possession for a year promising me a cup of tea and a cake and they honoured it when it went in this year! Called in on a very wet Saturday lunch time, they were busy and it seemed if a lot of people were using it as the waiting room for the Railway Station, no empty tables, nearly every table had dirty pots on them and bags and suitcases everywhere, we shared a table with a couple who had obviously been in there ages.
