Super nice bookstore. The first time I went there a few years ago, it was freezing cold and the owner invited us to have tea and cake with the staff in the back of the shop. He also gave me a small autographed cookbook by my British namesake. This warm welcome, in the middle of a pandemic in the cold of the London winter, will always remain in my heart. I have been back several times since and the place is always warm, very inspiring for all amateur cooks. The selection of books is excellent, I have made several recipes from the books purchased.

It’s an okay shop. For a shop specific for cook books, you probably won’t find everything. You can find general cook books which generalises the food of an entire country.

Often overlooked or mistaken for 'the' Notting Hill Bookshop, is this local gem specialising in cookbooks or any other combination of the written word and the culinary world, with an extensive range and a warm, cosy interior that embraces you like a long-awaited airport hug. The lady seated at the counter, who I presumed worked there, was incredibly friendly and some of our group immediately fell in love with her, though they never admitted it but I saw a glisten in their eyes that usually reserves its aim for an ice cold Great Northern after mowing the lawn on a sunny Australian Saturday afternoon. Real life Hugh Grant would be more likely to visit this store, as I understand he is a wiz in the kitchen, but I can't speak for Julia Roberts as I have never met her.

Excellent little bookshop devoted to cooking. While they have an impressive range of current cookbooks, what most intrigued me was their collection of second-hand, out-of-print editions that you won't find elsewhere. I picked up three titles, all published over 50 years ago, for just £9! A friendly gentleman (français, peut-être?) was running the shop. Definitely worth a browse if you are in Notting Hill.

As an overall book lover and a big cookbook fan I was really excited to see a bookstore that just sells cookbooks. However upon entering this bookstore I was extremely underwhelmed. The set up made it extremely hard to browse the shelves. There was also a woman, who I am assuming works there, who is the loudest British person I have ever encountered. She was next to screaming about her night out with friends and it made the cozy bookstore vibes completely go away. I then tried to take a picture of the cover of a cookbook that my dad published just to be sworn at. One of the men working there said “don’t f*ing take picture of the books without asking you can’t just f*ing do that”. Never have I ever been sworn at in a bookstore. If you’re looking to support an independent bookseller go to Hatchards or Daunt Books not here.

I went, with great eagerness, for my first post- Covid visit, with a long list of books I wanted to buy, and the anticipation of a nice meal in the cafe. I was disappointed on both counts: the shop is poorly stocked, and the one rather off-hand assistant had no knowledge of the books available, or where things might be located. The cafe was closed, although there was no mention of this on the website. Very annoyed with the whole experience.

Given the limited seating and 'no reservations' policy, we arrived one Saturday 15mins early enough to join the queue of 2 families ahead of us. When time came to seat, we were asked by the shop girls how many of us. We replied three and the arrogant "French chef'(?), walked past us saying they only seat twos, without even looking at us. He then bypassed us and selectively let everyone else behind us take seats, including a single person. We said we didn't mind being split up with one of our party sitting with the other single. It was not only chaotic and badly disorganised, you have to accept insulting behaviour on top of it. The arrogant 'chef' seated people behind us and then claimed it was full and totally bypassed and ignored us without trying to accommodate us even though we were in the queue first and had waited for this 'recommended experience'. It has left us with a bad taste in the mouth and for sure will never come back or recommend this place. On top of it, they seated a party of four who had a 'booking' even though they claim there is no booking ahead, as we heard the party saying that they had one. It made us wonder why this sort of discriminatory behaviour exists.

This wonderful, extensive, bookshop specialising in cookbooks also holds one of London's best kept secrets. In the heart of Nottinghill a delicious, three course lunch is served to a small number of covers each day for an incredible price. Made with quality, local ingredients, organic meat, one menu per day is offered and when it's gone it's gone, you can't reserve a table so don't miss out, get there before 12, Enjoy.

This place was a gem of a find, they are a bookshop esentially, but at lunch time, they pick a random cook book and prepare a 3 course meal for a paltry £7. Each visit is a new experience, love it.

Feels like you're at a mates house, no idea what they are serving that day, great portions, super cheap (soup, main and pudding for £7!) as singles sit together. Lovely place. Trip advisor says this is vegetarian but on the day I went it wasn't.

It is a "food porn" at its best ! all types of books at very good prices, there is also a little cafe in the back to keep on browsing.

Crammed, even cramped, at the back of a fabulous tiny cook book shop, this is a real neighbourhood find. Local ladies, journalists, market stall-holders pop in for the fixed price no-choice two course menu, with optional extra cake and coffee. It won't feel optional when you see the choice of three or four delicious and unusual home-made cakes; and you'll find it hard to resist buying one of the the thousands of books from which they choose the day's menu. As a local, I truly wish food-loving visitors would stay away from the busy lunchtime - but if you insist, make sure you turn up by 12noon!Lunch only. Red wine only. Good coffee.

Dropped by and got a really affordable book on eclairs. Place was a really interesting place with it being a book shop. The 'kitchen' section was closed when I was there so I didn't manage to try the food but the staff was really friendly and helpful and would definitely return to try the food there.

I loved this place! It was awesome! The food was great really fresh and really taste service again was great and it is the cutest little place full of character. Three courses for 7 pound is hard to beat on the value front. A destination come easy it's always full !

This is a very interesting place being a book shop and a place to eat at the same time. Different chefs come in to cook the food from the books that they've written.Like many other little places with big potential, this place got busy very quick. The first time I went there, I managed to have all three courses, on a very good table right next to the chef so you could even say hello to him. When I went there later a few months later, by 12pm all the food was gone, no place to sit, and even barely any place to browse the books. Good price, but very crowdy. try and get there before 11 if you wish to have lunch.

Peut être pas un des meilleurs repas pris dans un restaurant, mais OMG! A l'arrière de cette petite librairie, un resto atypique, un gérant incroyable, un repas simple et unique et une multitude de gateaux plus délicieux les uns que les autres! Loved it!

I lived in London for more than 10 years and never came across this. It took a visit from abroad, and turning up to Notting Hill just before noon...but this gets top marks from me. Right at the back of bookstore, are as many casual tables as they can fit, and some clearly excited customers, some of whom look to be regulars. Behind the counter are 3 chefs, one trendy French guy with media glasses and two helpers. They dish up beetroot&carrot soup with warm bread for everyone there and start handing it out cantina style. Jugs of water are already on the table. This is rare in London. Next course is beef in red wine jus with creamed potatoes. Delicious. Finally, you have a choice of desserts - we could choose from upside caramel plum tart, rhubarb&almond cake, chocolate and raspberry brownie or carrot cake. We ordered coffees as extra. Total bill per person GBP9. I think without the coffees it is GBP 7.50 per person. Honestly, this is a find in London. You do not get many places like this, with this calibre of food, in that type of an area, surrounded by the fun of an open kitchen and a bookstore. Hugely recommended.

Go early. You can eat food prepared by a published chef for £5! Fantastic value for money, and rather charming to eat in the back of a bookshop dedicated to the culinary arts.

Where in London can you eat a DELICIOUS 3 course lunch for £7 (during the week. 2 courses at the weekend). I have absolutely no idea how they make any money. I have been many, many times and love it. I always make sure I arrive at 12pm as once it's gone, it's gone and getting a table is tricky. The cafe is situated at the back of a very unassuming cookery book shop off Portobello in Nottinghill. They choose recipes from one book in particular every day and write them on the blackboard. You eat what you're given with either a glass of wine, a jug of tap water or a delicious coffee and you'll leave with a stack of books inspired to try lots of exciting new things.
