An amazing and beautifully designed cafe in the V&A, I always love coming here and it's a really relaxing spot to sit down and have some lunch and a coffee. It helps the surroundings are beautiful too. 🎨🥖

While the café’s primary offerings left much to be desired, as they were served cold and were unjustifiably overpriced, their scone proved a redeeming highlight. Light, delicately crumbly, and rich in flavor, it stood in stark contrast to the otherwise underwhelming fare.

ℹ️ Ordering method and price • Pay for bread and drinks at the cash register outside, put them on a tray and take them inside. • The price is the same as in the photo, and all baked goods were 5.50 pounds (when ordering scones, jam and croat cream are provided) 🫖 ENGLISH BREAKFAST + SCON • I thought I had to try tea when I came to the UK, so I tried it twice in total. I was disappointed because the tea from other places felt too strong for my taste, but the tea here was light and clean, so I gulped it down even though it was warm. 🐰 ღ • The scones have the right texture, neither too soft nor too hard. The taste is almost tasteless, so you have to spread some jam on it to taste it (but I really love British culture and food) 🤍 Visiting Tips When I visited around 12 o'clock on a weekday, the central space was closed and there were only seats left inside where there was no light. 🥹 I recommend visiting early and enjoying a leisurely meal in the center where the architectural style stands out (the photo is of the central hall. Even if you go late, I hope you succeed in guessing and get a good seat :)! )

The interior is pretty, so it’s worth visiting at least once. However, the person at the counter wasn’t pleasant. I pointed at the Earl Grey infused raisin scone and asked for a raisin scone, and she told me it wasn’t a raisin scone. When I checked the name again and asked for an Earl Grey scone, she said that was correct. (It was a Black young woman.) Truly a new experience. I should’ve just looked around without ordering anything

We just stopped in our tracks when we saw the prices. Just ridiculous. The only one I can remember is £7.50 for a piece of Victoria Sponge. Don't they realise they would sell more if the prices were more reasonable?.

Outrageous prices for the less than stellar food, £7.50 for a tiny tiny piece of average Victoria sponge and £5.50 for a piece of under flavoured tray bake average tea and coffee. This is one of the most beautiful cafes i have visited and also one of the worst overall experiences I've ever had. The cafe is absolutely beautiful. But the food is mediocre at best and trying to get a table (at least on the weekend) is absolute chaos. There is no process and no staff to help with getting a table or queuing for a table so it is everyone for themselves loitering around and trying to grab a table from one another, literally resulting in cursing and fighting. There must be a way to implement some process at busy times so that there is an orderly way to get seated. The current lack of any procedures around this is a travesty.

Spectacular ornate cafe. Don't miss it. You come here for the amazing experience of opulent Victorian architecture. the food is OK, perfectly acceptable but nothing special. Grab a table in the large or small ornate rooms. They also have tables in the modern section, but no point in sitting there. 2025 prices are same as anywhere in the area. Coffee is OK. The food is typical museum-style menu: quiche, soups, salads, sandwiches cakes and cream tea. Around £20 each for lunch, coffee and a cake. Also a lovely garden section in the summer.

A most beautiful and amazing cafe, in the V&A museum. The stained glass windows are a sight to behold, and all these glorious hanging ceiling lights. Sadly we could not get a space to sit in the main room, it was lunchtime and V&A was completely full of tourists during school holidays. But the room next to it was also rather pretty, also with stained glass windows and beautiful wood panelling. Food is not amazing, nothing to shout about, and slightly expensive too. Also the staff are so busy... it's hard to find a place to sit at, but also no chance finding a clean table, or anyone to help you clean it. But, it is really nice to sit in a beautiful room, and and also very nice to support the V&A.

I had a wonderful time at the Victoria & Albert Cafe; the atmosphere was incredible, especially when given the fine architecture and design of the interior space and intricate light features- to be expected of a cafe within a historical museum! There was a wide range of cuisine to choose from and no shortage of refreshments. The staff were fulfilling their basic duties, and the baby grand piano was well-maintained. The atmosphere of the cafeteria was actually elevated by the plethora of different people and visitors socialising and interacting with any musical performances. I would recommend this cafeteria to any visitors of the museum!

However, I had been eagerly waiting for 10 years to try their scones again, as I remembered them being quite delightful. This time, while the scones were still nice, they were served cold, which took away from the experience. Additionally, the clotted cream did not have the same appeal as before. The staff is unwelcoming and makes no effort to greet customers with even the slightest courtesy. It's clear they are neither trained nor organized, and it shows in every aspect of the experience. 3 of us. Walk-ins. The doorman invited us in and good that he did. Sat outside. The 2 ladies loved their cocktails- San Miguel and one Picante. They loved it enough to have two of them each. I had the red wine from Mexico- where else in London (or even UK) can you get that. Pretty nice. For food we had the two of the Esquite (sweet corn salad- spicy)- super nice, three of the fish tacos and one of the Cameron - prawn tacos. Excellent service. Great ambience.
