Polpo Chelsea in Kensington and Chelsea

Great food, especially the zucchini fries and Nutella pizza! Brilliant staff and service and a lovely cosy rustic interior - perfect on a cold winters day, loads of outdoor seating for the summer.

We have visited Polpo a couple of times with my friends and I can definitely say that we were impressed by the quality of service provided. Food was excellent as well as the cocktails, especially the negroni . Our waiter helped us with the food choices , gave us wine tasters and made our evening even better, looking forward to be back soon . Definitely recommended!

Appalling food. We ordered the aranchini of N'duija, it was not good. The zucchini fries which were surprisingly good, the beef shin rigatoni and clam, chili tagliolini which had nothing to it. Bland and boring. Chicken Saltimbocca, annoyed at myself that we didn't send it back. N'duija aranchini which is such an easy starter/canapé. Awful. Cocktails we all had a sour, which should be served with an egg white foam. They were not. The experience was disappointing. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.

We celebrated my partner’s birthday here last night, and it was absolutely unforgettable! The ladies who took care of us went above and beyond, adding personal touches that made the evening feel truly magical. From start to finish, their attention to detail and warm hospitality made the experience exceptional. Thank you for making the night so special – we can’t wait to return!

I had an incredible time at Polpo, it easily became one of my favourite dining spots in London! From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere was inviting, with its rustic, cosy vibe that perfectly complements the Venetian-inspired menu. The food was outstanding! The fritto misto was light, crispy, and packed with flavour - an absolute must try! And the soft egg pizzette - delicious!, it had the perfect balance of texture and richness that I could have easily ordered a second one :) Service was friendly and attentive, and despite the busy evening, everything arrived promptly. I’m already looking forward to my next visit and can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Italian dishes in a warm and vibrant setting!

Simply great food. Well flavored and balanced. Felt like I was eating in Italy! Also, the old-fashioned I ordered was so perfect, I had to ask for the recipe :).

Fabulous spot in the centre of Chelsea and perfect location for shopping and the Saatchi Gallery. Had a great meal and my kids loved the pasta and pizza offering. They are 5 and 7 and soon as we sat down we were offered drawing materials and crayons. Food was great and very reasonable. Beef shin pasta, octopus with fava bean puree and tiramisu were stand out dishes.

Excellent experience at Polpo Chelsea. The small plates were excellent. The octopus was fantastic. Lasai provided incredible service. Atmosphere and ambience fantastic. Highly recommend and will definitely be going again. 👌

Incredibly enjoyable experience. Only had tea and cake but that felt adequate to gauge the sophistication of the restaurant. The staff are down to earth and great at conversation, the cake itself was brilliant too. Highly recommend.

Had a really nice evening, even got served by the manager itself Sergiu, he was really friendly and caring checking that we had a nice stay the whole time, cant recommend it enough.

Very nice for lunch, very good service. The waiter explained each of the dishes to us with great cordiality. Very tasty food. What we didn't expect was that the plates were so small. We will return for another selection.

Good food but too small portions

We are regulars at Polpo Chelsea. We had our daughter’s 7th bday dinner there yesterday and the new manager (Sergio) was sooo rude to us on several occasions. He isn’t aware of how to talk to customers and his tone. The place was empty and he was acting like it was full of customers and his behaviour and attitude was appalling. What a shame the last manager who was so hospitable and polite left. We shall take our weekly business elsewhere and the other parents at the party were disappointed too.

The place is great and service is fast. Waiters are very nice and polite .I was going to order tiramisu but they told it not (Halal), instead I just order coffee .the prices are reasonable .every thing beautiful .thanks The coffee shop is beautiful and located in an open commercial complex. This is one of my and my partners favourite places. We came here on a sporadic first date in 2023, and have come for our 1 year anniversary today. The food was beautiful both times, and the service top tier. This time, we chatted to the server Tonci, who was very personable and friendly. The food came within minutes of ordering, and was exemplary. All servers were attentive and very pleasant. The prices were very reasonable for this area of London, with no sacrifice in quality. We've now come twice, and will be coming at least every year, hopefully with visits along the way when we're in the area. I love Italian food, have lived with Italian people, and my family used to live in Italy. I can say without a doubt that this is a great establishment, without too much pomp but a great degree of propriety. Casual, refined, and so easy to enjoy. 5 stars.

Italian cuisine in Chelsea. The food is good; However, the portions are very small compared to the prices. It seems they have changed their menu, as many dishes shown in Google reviews are no longer available. Recommended dishes: Zucchini Fries, Mixed Leaves Salad, and Beef Shin Rigatoni. The Clams Linguine is also good. However, the service is a bit slow. Please note that the Spaghetti Meatballs are not halal as they contain pork, so make sure to check with your waiter on other dishes first.

Cashless and the food was mediocre

the portions of the food especially the mains was very little, and the prices were high for such little portions, the waiters were not nice, and i disliked my whole experience. do not recommend

honestly a bit disappointed with the food. the burrata was not creamy at all and had a very slight aftertaste. truffle and potato crocchettes were decent but not a single trace of truffle. pizzettes were very small and ordinary, sometimes pretty bland. the crust of thoses didn’t feel like traditional focaccia bread. the clam pasta serving was also very small. in general, left this restaurant feeling hungry even after paying a generous amount. outside seating is quite enjoyable on a sunny day nevertheless, and the localisation is great.

I would like to especially thank your friendly staff. It was our friend’s birthday, and without request, Sergiu made a pleasant surprise for her. Additionally, he helped us make decisions about food, giving the best recommendations. Nice place, nice staff, nice food. Highly recommended!

Surprisingly good and despite in the middle of Chelsea/Sloane Sq, the place is quite baby friendly. Would recommend parents to have a meal there with friends. The only thing is that the portion is a bit too small even for a tiny Asian person :)

Wow, this is truly one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten! The staff is kind and helpful, and there are so many great choices!

Stayed here for a lovely lunch on the patio with my son. Staff was super friendly, service was quick and food was great - apart from one dish. They immediately took it back and took it off my bill. Topped up my Aperol with more Prosecco and water to make it lighter. Also, a great Location for my son to play in the adjacent square before food was serviced. 10/10 recommend :)

Great Wednesday evening for a quick italian aperitive! We sat at the terrace, hopefully it was not too noisy, we could enjoy 2 Peach Bellini.. nice but as there is always room for improvement.. there was just a little flavor of peach. Potatoes and Truffle crocchetta and Nduja arancino were amazing so we ordered a second round! The staff (one waiter, the receptionist and Amina the waitress), was really attentive and nice and everything came quickly. Thank you Guys!

I had a disappointing experience at Polpo Chelsea during a recent casual lunch. With modest expectations, I ordered a glass of wine, only to find it corked. The replacement wasn't any better; both were spoiled. Adding to the dismay was the dismal service. When I mentioned the issue with the wine, the waitress simply walked away. To compound matters, my order was botched as well. Despite requesting gluten-free gnocchi, I received an entirely different dish. This series of mishaps left me thoroughly disappointed. I certainly won't be returning and cannot recommend this establishment.

The food and service was excellent. We went for a birthday celebration and they were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure a great birthday celebration.

I went to celebrate my birthday and they really made it special. They welcomed us with a glass of Prosecco on the house, the food was delicious, and they also brought me a dessert with a candle at the end. The service was amazing throughout and we will definitely come back!

Messy seating system. Lady outside super disorganised seating people that just arrived while we were waiting with small children - gave our table away then didn't rectify the issue. It was just after 4.30pm on Saturday 10 Feb.

For a start we didn’t know if they were open or closed, because it was cold and I understand to keep the heat in, the door was shut. The place inside was small and I would recommend you book a table so you’re not disappointed. The staff were quick to take away the empty plates, and we felt rushed. The food was well, the portions were tiny, I wanted to try the ravioli because of two things, first because it was vegetarian, and secondly because of the reviews I read. I have to say as the flavours start to excite my taste buds and the portion size arouse my palate, it was finished😢 so for that I felt it was a starter portion prised as a main. The chickpea balls were a bit stodgy for my liking, and my friend felt they tasted old. Overall it was a nice experience.

We absolutely loved our meal and whole dining experience here. We booked a table early in the evening for four. The food, service, and atmosphere were entirely faultless. The beauty of this place is the sharing concept - you can try quite a bit of the menu together. The pizza is excellent, too. So yummy. Fresh and delicious. They are small in size, so having a pizza and pasta is possible. We will not hesitate to return, can't wait in fact.

Great location if youre shopping in Sloane Square or Kings Road. I had the Dover sole which was delicious. Service was spot on. Would definitely visit again.

What a marvelous little place! I am so glad I found it. We had dinner and ordered pizza,spegnerti and meat balls, and their crab mascarpone special, all were amazing. Portions are small, which I am learning is a trend in London restaurants so we had to order additional dishes. Service was amazing.

This place is an Italian with different choices than the others. It is always friendly.

One of my favorite spots in London. Good and unpretentious food. The service and the prices are reasonable. We had fig and gorgonzola crostini, roasted salmon and pumpkin ravioli. All of them are excellent. They have lots of outdoor seating.

Never disappoints! It’s me if the best dining experiences when we’re in London. Gluten Free options with an understanding of the needs of celiacs. Had no issues with prep of food. Zucchini Fries are out if this world! GF pizza crust is amazing. Service and staff are friendly and very attentive. Love this place. One in SOHO is also great. Quieter dining at Chelsea location makes for a better overall experience.

Nota dolente: il cibo...mal riuscita imitazione della cucina italiana. La pizza sembrava una specie di piadina con della salsa aspra. Porzioni povere. Buone le chips di zucchine con la maionese all'aglio: le consiglio! Prezzi nella normalità di Londra.

Nice location for al fresco dining, staff are nice enough, but food was below average. Had some very chewy / stale foccacia, some adequate burrata and chickpea balls, and a fairly decent beef shin ragu, which came to £45 with a soft drink. I know it's technically Chelsea, but you can get much much better food for the money. What a shame.

Everything was amazing until my mother was refused entry to the restaurant to use the restroom. She was told by a member of staff that the restrooms were for patrons only! We spent £130 and we were only three people having lunch. The most shocking of it all was, the member of staff with pinkish hair was the staff member that seated us and took our first drinks order. My mother is visiting from overseas and is 68yrs old! No courtesy at all and was treated like rubbish! You have an amazing restaurant but your staff is the reason I will not return!!!

Fantastic and really well priced restaurant. The staff were friendly and engaging, the service quick and efficient with a full service and the food was delicious. The asparagus with anchovies was an absolute knockout. We were so impressed with the asparagus that we ordered their book which seems to be packed with simple and delicious recipes. I feel confident recommending any dish from the menu and it being high quality. Perfect location for a friendly lunch or anniversary dinner and everything in between. Order Intimate restaurant with a classical Italian decor with the food to match. We ordered the ‘Ndula Arancini, pork fennel & chilli meatballs, beef shin pappardelle, zucchini fries, and tiramisu. Drinks order: Peroni zero, Aperol sprits, caffe latte, and macchiato. Recommend Portions are small if ordering a single dish for a person but I recommend the at least a meat, fish or pizzette & side each per person for a light meal. Additionally adding another plate if wanting a larger meal. Revisit We avoided the focaccia as I make my own at home and are often disappointed but next time we will be adding it to the order for scarpetta (bread that’s used to eat the left over sauce on the plate). The pizza is typical of what you find in Venice which is difference to the Neapolitan pizza most associated with Italy, not a bad thing just something to know before ordering. Seasonal/ rotational menus keep repeat visits fresh and the quality gives you confidence in trying something out of your comfort zone.

The main courses were good except that the dishes were not very generous, especially the pasta dish (beef shin rigatoni) which was a small portion served on a small plate, worthy of a dish from the children's menu… The desert was very good ! Otherwise, the service was perfect, fast and the waiters friendly It was nice to eat outside.

I went with my elderly auntie today from 1pm onwards. At first I thought hmm should I pick this restaurant or a different one then suddenly a customer told me that the food is really nice so ok we tried it. My auntie and I ordered 2 of the tomato with mozzarella and oregano pizza and one Tiramisu for dessert. The taste was very nice and filling. I was full up in the end. The Tiramisu was rich taste and yes, I love it. I think next time, I will order two pizzas for myself or order a different dish. My auntie enjoyed it, too. The service was friendly staff and to check if their food is good and if we are finish. They will clear our plates straight away. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. My partner got serious food poisoning from this place!! Avoid!! The food was appalling quality as is and so expensive for what it was. We ordered starters and when we found out our mains hadn’t been put through we cancelled them altogether because the starters were so bad. Still cost us £40 though. The “focaccia” was simple toasted white bread with olive oil drizzled on top - focaccia should not be hard and crunchy. The olives weren’t ripe and so the flesh was really hard. The chicken liver pate gave my partner serious food poisoning - it was the only thing I didn’t eat and I was fine so know it was that. She threw up all night and the next day. We didn’t eat anything else that day so it was definitely Polpo’s food. I emailed the restaurant about it requesting a refund for our disgusting poisonous food and haven’t heard back. Appalling place, will never go there again.

Usually love it here but had a less than great experience last Friday- on arrival we asked if the aperitivo board was being served (after seeing on instagram) and were told no (have now just seen it is still being served so missed out on this which is a shame) Also asked the waiter if it was possible for the bar to make a limoncello spritz (have had before) and were told no without the waiter even checking. Plates were then cleared whilst we were still eating which was a bit annoying. The food was great but think we had a bit of bad luck with service, not even like it was busy to account for this - not sure we will rush back again

Food was terrible. We had spaghetti meatballs. Spaghetti from a ready made packet heated up with sauce. I honestly thought it was some kind of joke, small plate like a children size potion. Regretted my decision to dine in there. First and last time. Such a lovely location. What a shame. Asked the waitress for two potions she only brought one we had to wait for the next one for ages. Before paying I have asked her not to even bother including service charge because I was not a happy customer.

Disgraceful floor manager for such a great spot. We were discussing in the queue how ‘unhappy’ he was to have people waiting on his door. No basic manners for a customer service role . Otherwise we usually love the place.

It is a great spot! The staff were friendly. Out of 4 items ordered , two did not materialised! I was particularly disappointed that my daughter did not get get orange juice and desert. (however, the missing items did appear on the bill!) There was a mild apology but, apparently, WiFi caused the glitch! 🤣

We waited 30 minutes to be seated which wasn't a problem but once we got the table we waited a further 25 minutes for our order to be taken. Once we did receive our food the portions of pasta were small and far too undercooked (and not just al dente). We also waited 30 minutes to revive the bill. The service wasn't up to standard across the whole meal and this was disappointing given the restaurant wasn't that busy at the time.

As always, this place delivers good food in a good location with pleasant staff.

Absolutely appalling service. Some of the staff had a horrible attitude. Ignored us a lot. Really not friendly! I will not be returning until they have a proper trained staff that knows how to work in service! Really disgusted and disappointed as it’s in such a prime location it’s sad the staff is horrible.

Have been going here for years but yesterday’s visit was really poor - very uninterested staff and the food was way below the standard I’ve previously had - sent two dishes back as not warm. Really poor experience which was evident from it being nearly empty whilst every other restaurant nearby was really busy. Disappointing as won’t be back.

Top place. Been here 4 times and can’t fault their service. Their servers are really considerate and polite. Food is really great too! Perfect intimate setting to hangout with friends family and dates!

We were a table of three yesterday, after a matinee at the local theatre. We were lucky enough to get a nice table outside with the afternoon sun. The focaccia, arancini balls and the stuffed olives off the starter menu were delicious. The mains were alright , but nothing really to write home about. The pizza was like warm, the prawns were tasteless and watery. The spaghetti was undercooked and salty. The dessert at the end was a lovely way to cap it off. The ice cream and pistachio was yummy. The service wasn’t the best at time (13.5% service charge was a bit questionable ) Would I go back? Probably not for the price and service
