Nice place, nice food, helpful staff

Very good friendly service. Lovely atmosphere. One thing, as a regular, I would like to see is the toilet facilities updated a bit. That would improve my visit. Thanks.

Good food and service quiet busy

Popped in for a quick bite after a walk , it was quiet only a couple of people in and we ordered 2 teas and 2 toasties , the tea came straight away and were only luke warm, we then waited 25 minutes for the toasties , if we had be told it would take this long we would’ve probably just had a slice of cake. Both toasties were mediocre at best , filling not too bad but soggy bread , not really toasted. But the thing we found most disappointing was the dirty cutlery and I don’t mean a little bit dirty , my spoon hadn’t been washed you could still see rings of tea stains and husbands knife still had the previous users full meal on it ! we left them on the table and didn’t use , when paying the bill the young waitress asked if everything was ok and my husband told her about the dirty cutlery , she didn’t really know how to handle the situation just took payment and put her head down. Its a shame because it could be so much better maybe and I think because it’s in such an affluent area the prices are higher than other similar establishments which is fine as long as the standards match which sadly they don’t.

N8ce cafe , nice cakes etc , nice staff and good service ,as a bonus it was red hot out in the sun , on comfy chairs ..

I ordered a collection for 2 Avocado toast with bacon sausages & poached eggs. The sausages were tasty however the rest of the order was not up-to the standard I paid for. (£16) The bacon rashers were overcooked, the eggs were almost fully boiled (not runny), and the toast was barely toasted, way too soft & not buttered. In addition to that the avocado seemed to have had little strains in it, odd texture. To top it off I contacted them straight back after eating a little bit of the food and the notified the lady who served me initially. After explaining the issues with my order the lady didn’t offer any proper solution and instead told me to ‘toast my bread a little more’, refused to give any refund or offer anything on my future visit. Disappointing to see/experience service like this as it effects the owner of the business when employees don’t deal with matters appropriately.

Lovely little cafe! Myself and my daughter went for a late lunch and it was lovely and cosy.... Freezing cold outside so the staff turned on the fires for us and warmed the place up. Food was lovely with a good selection of fresh cakes available. Very reasonably priced and the girls who work there are lovely.

The radio was on when we went in and was quite loud. We had to ask for it to be turned down. Expensive for food and drinks. Slow service. Won't be back.

Worst coffee I've had in a very long time. It tasted like hot milk stirred by a coffee spoon. Won't be returning to pay over £3.00 for a hot milk.

Popped into here for lunch in the 'posh' village of Cleadon. First of all, the table was dirty. It was wooden, so you couldn't see any debris, but as you put your elbows and hands on they were encrusted with the crumbs of sandwiches of long ago. Horrible. I ordered a tuna melt; not a difficult thing to do. What arrived was a soggy 'melt' in which tuna and cheese were dripping out of cheap toasted shop-bought sliced bread. It tasted wrong, quite a bitter taste. The accompanying salad had brown leaves. And cost £6.50. Seriously, how do establishments like this survive? Perhaps it's the locals who keep popping in to keep them afloat, happy to put up with mediocre food and high prices as they have no other option. Never again for me. I'm sick of this type of place, happy to just 'tick along' serving poor quality and expensive food in dirty and tasteless surroundings. it's a real shame, as this used to be a pretty good sandwich shop not that long ago. Whoever has taken it over needs to give their head a wobble and return to whatever it was they used to do, as they know nothing about food, quality and service. Cleadon; you have a real gem here...

Order a Scrambled egg with bacon bagel. Pretty disappointing to find the egg was microwaved and not scrambled was just one mass of tasteless rubbery egg. Bagel wasn’t buttered and barely toasted. Bacon was ok. Overall really poor sorry

Good food, excellent selection, friendly staff

It could have easily been 4 stars. The food is imaginative, tasty and fairly priced. Never tried their coffee. So why not 4 stars, it was cold inside. The majority of us sitting inside of the cafe chose to eat with our coats on.

The first thing that strikes you on entering is the bland decor which I was told was redecorated recently… it’s grey & more grey, something out of the 80’s, soulless with plastic plants & flowers… so dated. This place could be amazing!! Awful radio on in background, clattering of dishes … I can’t comment on the food but I won’t come back it’s not a relaxing or welcoming place. The coffee was poor, watery out of a machine . Cleadon is a lovely area but it’s so disappointing this place.

Not the most welcoming reception by staff who were clearly understaffed and I had to go back twice to order and chase missing items but the food was superb. Really big wraps and sandwich, full of prawns.Great selection of cakes and probably one of the nicest filling lunches we have had for a long time

I can se there are many excellent reviews on here about this cafe but we wont be eating here again. We ate here yesterday and although the food was enjoyable I would like to warn customers about the lack of compliance with Covid Rules and basic health and hygiene . The waiting on and kitchen staff failed to wear face masks. Waiting staff served at tables with no face covering at all and we could see that kitchen staff wore either no mask or wore it puled down under the chin leaving nose and mouth uncovered. Most customers failed to wear a mask when moving around the cafe to use the rest room or to go up to the counter to pay. Normally staff in restaurants, pubs and cafes would remind customers to use a mask in these situations but of course this isn't going to happen when the staff themselves aren't wearing them. A spray cleaner was used to clean our table before we were seated but we had to ask for the chairs to be wiped as they had been left with crumbs from an earlier customer. I later saw the waitress cleaning dirty tables outside without using any antibac spray. Probably the worst thing we witnessed during our visit was the waitress dropping some biscuits on the dirty floor and then picking them up and placing them back on the counter. When she thought no-one was watching she then placed them in the container along with the other biscuits for use when she served a hot tea or coffee to the next unsuspecting customer. The biscuits were individually wrapped but I certainly wouldn't want to be served with one after it had been on the dirty floor!

Called on impulse this morning. Ordered breakfast of porridge with honey and tea. I asked could they please add a spoonful of blueberries if they had any. The porridge was perfect (and I’m very particular about my porridge😆) and I was given a lovely bowl of mixed berries alongside as well as honey. Excellent friendly service, very clean cafe - and Covid-aware staff. An enjoyable and SAFE start to my day. Thank you😀!

Lots of lovely cakes and nice selection of coffee

Our first visit during Covid pandemic. Its had a lovely fresh looking makeover. Our cheese and pickle sandwiches were made with very fresh bread and presented nicely. The young waiting staff are friendly and polite. I would have given 5* but felt that the prices were a little high for what we had - nearly £17 for two sandwiches and a tea and a coffee. Saying that, I would still visit here if only for a cheese scone as they are delicious!

Staff are friendly and has very chic interiors and a tasty menu. Food was delicious, quick service and good value for money.

We arrived on the 12/10/19 on the afternoon (16.00) ordered cappuccino & hot chocolate £5.15!for both . We took one sip each , absolutely disgusting Luke warm & awful watery taste . We left the drinks , I told the assistant that the drinks were terrible . I have to say the ladies attitude was not good , her comment was to say that the drinks come from a machine & that other customers do not complain &!it all comes from the same machine . Will not be returning . We traveled to marsden grotto where the cappuccino & hot chocolate were absolutely amazing .

This has obviously changed hands for the worse. The pictures on this TripAdvisor are nothing like what this place looks like. It actually has plain miserable walls no pictures or character and my friend and I were regulars a year ago. However today we thought we’d visit and what a huge disappointment. We ordered a latte and an americano.. one small slice of caramel traybake cake and a mars bar Rice Krispie traybake cake. We were charged £11.20.. a complete rip off as the caramel cake was small and the Mars Bar cake was made with cheap version of hard Rice Krispies! We have regular weekly coffee outings and this is the most we have ever been charged. There was a notice on the board .....coffee and cake £4.95 between 2-4 but unfortunately we arrived at 150pm!!! We will certainly not be returning or recommending this place to anyone. We came out two very disheartened customers.

Visited for lunch with a colleague and enjoyed my panini and carrot cake so much we went back again less than a fortnight later! The two of us pride ourselves on tracking down really good cafes and this one certainly qualifies. Don't go if you're on a New Year weight loss regime...you may think you'll be able to resist the cakes but I'm afraid for you, I really am...they're really good...!

Average quality food, a bit overpriced. Not bad, just not good either. I had eggs on toast with avocado, bit bland, nothing to write home about. I wouldn't come here again through choice. Very mediocre.

Visited this quaint but roomy eatery with a friend who was supposed to join me for morning kayaking but was extremely hungover after getting in at 4am. She ordered poached eggs on toast and a very large pot of tea. I ordered scrambled eggs on toast with a light sprinkling of turmeric and avocado with fresh tomato and a green tea. The service was first-rate and the food very nourishing and well presented. We then took our drinks outside and enjoyed an hour in the sun, conversing with the high energy owner and reading the Sunday papers. Tres, tres bon!

Me and my boyfriend went here for breakfast, the people serving were nice but the breakfast did take a while to come, my breakfast tasted lovely but would have liked more than two tiny mushrooms, would still definitely return though as not many places offer healthier breakfasts with spinach scrambled eggs and avocado

Fantastic choice in menu, we went for chicken sandwich which came with crisps n salad, also a cream cheese & salmon bagel with extra chunky chips. Then we couldn't resist the amazing cake cabinet... the Victoria sponge was light & tasted, the chocolate was light and moorish! Highly recommended for a lunch date or catch up coffee and cake!

A veces no hay suficientes asientos, necesitan ampliar el lugar, sin embargo la deliciosa comida, excelente y un servicio rápido y el personal es encantador! Sin embargo, puede ser caro, por ejemplo un sándwich de bacon es 4 Libras sin embargo tuve patatas, frijoles y queso con una botella de Coca-Cola Light por sólo £6. 50 así que algunos precios necesitan un sandwich de bacon que se modifican, solamente deben ser unas dos libras, sin duda merece la pena una visita, aunque si era más grande y algunos precios fueron diferentes pero yo le daría 5 estrellas.

Un lugar muy agradable para encontrado en Cleadon Village, cerca de Sunderland, pero realmente en South Shields. Una cafetería que está trabajando para el cliente. Amable, servicial y muy eficiente. Un menú muy variado, que es una delicia para la vista. Tuvimos un desayuno, y estaba delicioso. Hay una pizarra también para elegir, así como un mostrador repleto de pasteles muy tentador y tars y como muy tentador. Costo razonable.El aparcamiento es un problema, pero te dan un lugar para aparcar.

We went in her for a coffee and a snack. I had a scone my partner had scrambled egg and both were lovely. The place has just been bought up and the service was so friendly.

First impression it lacks a wow factor. Great location Staff Attentive The carrot cake was moist and tasty and a great size portion. Prices ok The objects for sale in the cafe in my opinion detract from the cafe ambience.

Mi amigo y yo hemos visitado este lugar unos años y sé que tiene una gestión diferente. Personal muy amable que parece que cambian periódicamente, pero los precios parecían haber engordado un montón! Pudimos conseguir dos bebidas calientes y dos tortas por sólo £6. Ahora su £8.40 mirando para un café normal y pastel de frutas crujiente bollo un vaso de leche que hemos comprado. La decoración es ahora aburrida falta fotografías que solía ser y sólo una pared natural sencilla! Nos encanta la selección de pasteles y bollos frescos, pero nada parece ser razonable! Sentimos decepcionados después de ir allí durante tanto tiempo.

Aquí, la comida siempre muy precioso y el personal es encantador, con un servicio rápido, la razón por la que le doy 4 estrellas aunque es porque la mayoría de las veces no hay suficientes asientos, necesitan ampliar su zona de descanso. Es muy decepcionante salir por la comida con la familia y tener que llegar a llevar.

Esta fue nuestra primera visita. Viernes Almuerzo y tiempo estaba muy concurrido. Nos las arreglamos para conseguir los últimos dos asientos y había un poco de cola de partida.

I ordered food on Xmas Eve for a family party and I cannot praise Bon Appetite Deli sufficiently. The service was outstanding. The food was utterly perfect especially the headline grabbing cheesecake! All of it was fresh, varied and of a very high quality. So, my family returned for food for my daughter's birthday party. Once again, we were so very impressed. Everything was beautiful and by far the best outside caterers I have ever had. Perhaps the most special point I would like to stress is the fantastic staff and management. The service I received was so so gratefully received. I cannot commend you all to others enough. Thank you so much.

Cycled to Cleadon Village. This is a popular cafe. Inside is very pleasant with tables for 4 or 6 and sofas. The outside seating is limited due to the width of the footpath. The staff were polite. Inside seating area was hot so I opted to sit outside. My scones and coffee were first class and not overpriced. As a cyclist my only issue was that there was nothing to secure the bike to. Anyway nice ride out, good coffee and very good fruit scone!

Having passed in the car countless times and though it looked lovely today we decided to pop in and have breakfast while out for a walk. Very pleasant staff, the menu is just right and its a nice place to sit. We'll be regular visitors from now on.

Visit here on a weekly basis very friendly little bistro food always top notch and home made cakes and scones beautiful have never been disappointed with anything we have chosen highly recommend.

I popped in Bon Appetit on Thursday for my lunch along with my sister and niece after seeing one of their posts a friends Facebook page. I only live a few miles away and didn't even know about this place buy my god have I been missing out!! I had the jacket potato with crispy bacon and egg mayo with salad dressing and a vanilla latte, my sister had a quiche salad and fruit smoothie and my niece had the tuna melt Panini. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meals and I just couldn't resist a slice of the mouth watering toffee cheesecake, the niece opting for some ice cream. All in all we got a very friendly service and all really enjoyed the food and will definitely be returning to this little gem!
