A bit pricey for a simple country pub. Remember it when it did catering and served very good wholesome meals which for a while was discontinued and at last has now returned to catering which I will review in near future. Fairly shocked by a simple single Bells whisky and coke costing a whopping £5.05 There is limited parking at back though do not park in the narrow road at the back as it upsets not just the residents but those living on the estate further alon and if lucky, you can find the odd parking space at the front. I do like visiting the place and it is very nice pub with a pleasant external sitting area at the back.

A nice local pub, but we were very disappointed on Christmas Eve when they suddenly called last orders at 2050, Especially as it clearly said on the board next to the bar that they were open until 2200. A few people even heard the bell, but thought it was for something else, as they didn't shout last orders, so a lot of people were left without a final drink. We then had to go to the Grey Horse along the road, which was absolutely rammed with all the people from the Black Bull. The pub was busy when they called last orders, so they must've lost out on a few hundred quid in takings as well.

I would like to thank Ian and his staff for an absolutely fantastic night. Nothing was a problem for him. Allowing us to have space for a friend's 60th. There isn't enough words to say how helpful Ian and his staff where. Thank you again for a fab time.

What a canny local pub this is now since they changed the decor. The terrace out the back is quite lively too. It all feels very modern and stylish Prior to the change if decor, I'd have been reluctant to have gone in. It seems to have an odd clientele that doesnt quite match the revamped decor and deffo needs to update its wine list, no malbec, and savingnon Blanc was not good. But is becoming more welcoming than it was before

It had been years since our last visit (covid) so it was nice to visit again and see any changes. We’d discovered Madri beer on holiday at Easter so was pleased to see it served here. The seating was comfortable and very eclectic. The woman’s toilets were dreadful. Beer was lovely and we had a relaxing couple of drinks. Sports were on in the front bar, as were card players with poker chips! Rear parking available and garden area much better than last visit.

On a lovely April day my husband had walked the dog to meet me after I’d finished work early, (he’d checked that it was a dog friendly venue) the idea was to have a drink and / or a meal. There is a dedicated car park at the rear of the pub which wasn’t busy due to the time of day and street parking (albeit difficult to park at times). Unluckily for us we were asked straight away whether or not we required food to be told the pub is going through change of ownership and a new menu wasn’t available yet. This was a shame as we’d had meals there before and they were lovely, home cooked and tasty. Anyhow we settled for a place in the concrete beer garden to give the dog a rest. Unfortunately my husband was served sod water and lime and not lemonade, as his face wrinkled up I was given an apology. There seems to be a good buzz about The Black Bull at the minute, a Queen tribute band was on recently, plenty of things to do and advertised well, so a slight mistake won’t put us off going back.

Enjoyed three very good quality pints of John Smiths. Quiet, welcoming pub. If you are going to have three large glasses of wine, as the wife did, it's cheaper to buy a bottle, as advised by bar staff when ordering the third glass. Another visit planned to sample food. I've now eaten here and it was excellent. Cheap meal deal for the over 60's 😁.

We visited here as my husband has had surgery and wanted to go somewhere he could walk. We decided on toasties which I know have not changed for a number of years but they were tasty. Minchella’s ice cream is a memory of childhood and never disappoints. The staff on the day we went were very helpful and friendly

Due to not having all of the people in my party there right when the buzzer went off the male owner told me I couldn’t be seated until they all arrived. I told him how they were in the parking lot trying to park and couldn’t find parking so he came back a few times and very rudely kept asking where they were. I called my friends to hurry up that he was being rude and he came over to me for a fourth time and asked if I thought he was being rude, I said yeah kinda so he said well we’re seating the people who are here and you can go back on the list and wait. (Mind you this was all within 5 minutes of waiting for my friends to park). Then he walks to the host stand and tells the host if I didn’t like that I could leave. I was really thrown off by the attitude he was giving me and the disrespect especially where he is the owner. You would think he would’ve been a lot more professional and friendly. Also my friends food had so many shells with the baked crab dishes they couldn’t even eat it. The waitress was amazing and the host. The food is definitely subpar. Not worth the wait nor the money. I’ve noticed there have been plenty of bad reviews about the owner so hopefully he will try to be more courteous and treat people with better respect. Also watched him seat a party of ten when the lady said they were still waiting on people.
