Bombay Spice in Edinburgh, City of

As Bombay Spice was recommended to me I ordered 2 meals on Sunday 8th September one Chicken Rogan josh and one Chicken Korma these are meals we have had regularly , sorry to say both meals lacked taste and especially the Rogan Josh and also the Chicken was a bit tough, I'm not one for giving bad reviews but I must add that after being recommended the meals were very disappointing

Food always lovey from this takeaway and very generous portion sizes

Whole overall experience was fantastic as always, no complaints just compliments to the chef and front of house staff, credit where credits due 10 out of 10

A local gem! The lady who served was incredible. So lovely, Bubbly and helpful! The food was incredible, highly reccomend the popmadoms, Peshawari Naan and curries! So much flavour! They let us sit it even though they were about to close the kitchen and didn't rush at all even when closing. Infact they gave us amazing service. The food was incredible, especially as a vegaterian! So many options, loved the structure of the menu how you can choose any veg/meat for any style of curry! Good spice levels for everyone and their needs. Highly reccomend was great food and service! 100% would go again.

The food was not that great. They just served biriyani in a regular plate and expected us to share from the same plate. Overall, it was not a good experience and I would not recommend it. The water was having a foul smell as well.

Incredible locally owned business! I got the large mixed kebab, my partner got the beef korma, my mum got the prawn chasni and my stepdad got the lamb ceylon. Incredible! The food is always out of this world, the service is always friendly and attentative and its so reasonable for how much you get. A MUST visit for sure.

Don’t order meals with beef. Got food poisoning. Vomiting and fatigue the morning after we had meal there.

My order wasn't delivered on time or delivered at all !! , I will definitely not be going back and the food was absolutely disgusting no taste or flavour my chicken in the curry was cold and will not be eating this food or be giving this to my partner or child !!! This was meant to be a nice meal and a quiet night in with the family and turned out to be nothing but hassle and disappointment , I called numerous times to see how long my order would be and was told it will be with you shortly after 1 hour of calling I decided to go to the place of order ( Bombay spice ) and collect my order as I was having no luck receiving my order through delivery, when I got there the lady told me she was very sorry and there delivery driver had left and not returned back to work , I replied I've had to leave my child and partner in the house to come collect this food as I've already paid for it this wasn't a way to conduct a business as you should always have a driver on stand by or have 2 drivers available, I then received my food that was half cold and was genuinely the worst takeaway I've ever eaten I then headed home 3 minutes away I must add , and instantly regretted my choice of place to eat as soon as I opened the bag it was everywhere it was an absolute mess it was poor packaging and poor food I won't even give this place a half star rating and would tell people to stay away Also I would like my money back as I never ate any of the food and my food was cold in the middle of the chicken and rice I would like a full refund ASAP !

Have been coming here for awhile ,a family run business,lovely people ,have some very interesting conversations here ,topics wide reaching ....anyways onto the food ...one word ... brilliant..... something for everyones tastes (well ok as long as you like Indian food ,I love it :)) ,if you don't like Indian food ....well er ...try somewhere else .everyone have a lovely day ,thankyou for reading .

We felt very special from the moment we walked in the door. Food excellent. Friendliness genuine. party of 4 and everything was perfect and we all loved it. Prices for for and a number of drinks was very reasonable. More people need to find this hidden gem

Got a delivery from here quite a few times recently. Fantastic food. About average prices for an Indian take away but so good and well worth it. Definitely my new favourite.

Although the chilli garlic chicken was spicier than I anticipated (I like spicey food) this might have been the tastiest takeaway meal I've had in a long time. I'll be back soon and will just need to find the right curry for me! Highly recommend

Lovely family-run restaurant, very close to where we were staying. The staff were very friendly & welcoming, and bonus for giving us information on visiting Edinburgh! The food was amazing, probably the best curry I've ever had. Ordered the lamb pasanda, lamb nentara, garlic naan & Punjabi rice. Lots of flavour & beautifully cooked. We had our curries medium heat, which gave the perfect amount of spice without being too hot or mild. There was plenty of choice on the menu too. Definitely recommend visiting for a meal, you won't regret it.

The delivery was prompt and the delivery person polite and friendly. The food was all correct, high quality and piping hot on arrival.

Went here a couple of weeks ago with about 6 people. Very warm welcome and excellent service. classic UK curry and all food we had was tasty and plenty of food! Reasonable prices too.

The food was good and tasty. Quantity can be more for the price. The owners are courteous. Particularly, Ms. Farzana was more friendly and ready to help. Even though the names of the food dishes are Indian, the preparation is typically Pakistani. Overall, a very good experience.

The food is really nice, I like it, but it’s quite slow on delivery every time. But I think maybe because we are a bit farther away. However, the delivery people are also nice and usually apologies for being late. Therefore, I would recommend them.

I've ordered several times, and the food was always good value for money, hot and delicious. The Nawabi Chana is a favourite here.

We had a superb meal here for a family gathering, classics available as well as some less common dishes, all adjusted to the palates of the guests. Our eight year old suggested a rating of 10 out of 5, and we all agree! Great value for money and staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly.

Had one of the best experiences at Bombay Spice. The family is extremely welcoming and jovial, and the food is absolutely delicious. We devoured every bite as it had authentic Indian flavours.

One of the worst food, both the lamb and chicken was smelling and taste like it was cooked way before,may be like 1-2 days old, lamb was smelling a lot along with the chicken which was not good at all.

As someone with allergies & visiting the area for only a week I was delighted to find this place. Not only was their food great but their customer service was amazing and they were so accommodating for my allergies.

Overall food very good and tasty. Only slight complaint was that naan bread was slimy on the top...2 mins under the grill and it was ok but shouldn't have had to do that.

Okay let me tell you a little about how fantastic this place is. We got in late in the evening and happened upon Bombay Spice as it was one of the only places open at that hour. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the family that runs it were so kind and friendly, and the food was TO DIE FOR. We haven’t stopped talking about it for the rest of our vacation—the question in every other restaurant we’ve been to was “But is it as good as Bombay Spice?” We weren’t in town long, but were seriously considering rerouting our entire schedule just to eat here again before we left. Get yourself the garlic naan and Taka Tak. It’s filling enough it can feed 2, and one of the best Indian dishes I’ve ever had.

A super- friendly little restaurant in Leith with very attentive staff and lovely food. The menu is interesting and varied and the prices very reasonable. Family and dog friendly too!

Have always raved about the food from here as it was packed full of big chunks of lamb however today the lamb was cut rather small and definitely reduced amount. Tasty though just disappointed in the portion of lamb

Exceptional absolutely outstanding. The delivery customer service really took me by surprise addressing me by name, smiling with great manners. You know how sometimes you have the oven on just to heat the food for 5mins. Totally not needed it arrived hot. The meal was delicious. Super impressed from start to finish.

Inedible. Both main courses (which we have had from restaurants before) were full of chillies and way too hot for either of us. Had to go in the bin. Shame as previous orders were good, but this meal has put us off ordering again.

Being an hgv driver I phoned for a delivery I was told they could not deliver to truck drivers after working 15hrs no food I was less than 1.5 miles from shop I was good enough to work through the pandemic but not good enough to get food delivered

Felt like a takeaway tonight so decided to order from my usual Bombay Spice and I have to say they never disappoint me. Like always their service and food is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I got a Garlic Chicken Tikka Masala, 2 Puris, 1 Garlic Naan and 1 Special Large Mixed Kebab and it was on point 👌 and the taste of the curry was to die for, Naans and Puris were so soft and the Mixed Kebab was amazing. Will always choose this as my No1 takeaway. Highly Recommended.

Food was far far too spicy,couldn't eat it

Had two untasty and very watered down curries from Bombay Spice. Not the usual thicker and made with higher quality flavourful ingredients kind of sauces that one expects, in fact one was almost like coloured water. Also wasn't happy with the portion of rice, which was only suitable for a single portion for one person, whereas most takeaways give double the amount for the same price. Also only got two small gulab jamum balls, when all other takeaways that I've used give you three for the same price. Had the nerve to reply to my rating to my order on Ubereats that their portions are generous. Won't use them again. Thanks, but no thanks.

Best indian takeaway in leith, hands down

Very friendly service and flavoursome food. Delighted to find this restaurant last night and it’s now our new local favourite. An added bonus is 2 for 1 dishes using the RBS Tastecard-we’ll definitely be back!

I came upon this restaurant by chance. I was looking forward to a pie and a pint of Heavy after an 8hr drive. But Scottish pub chefs don't seem to work after 8pm - thank goodness. Family run restaurant, staff were welcoming and friendly. My daughter is a fussy eater and the manager went above and beyond to cater for my daughters taste requirements. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant with subtle music playing in the background. We didn’t wait long for the food to be presented to us, which was delicious. Not only did we enjoy a lovely meal, the host gave us a good insight of places we should visit whist in Edinburgh and was very knowledgable of the history surrounding Edinburgh. Phoned through for a delivery order and discussed specific dietary requirements (1 person needing a dry curry, another needing low carb sides) with the lady who answered the call. Extremely well informed regarding the menu and was able to make recommendations towards a few different options. Took the time to explain each and understand fully our dietary needs. Meal arrived promptly and was exact as had been described to us. No issues and food was all delicious. Will definitely be riding from you again. Ordered a chicken kebab and chicken korma with chicken pakora and rice. The chicken was pink in parts of the kebab and korma. The nan bread in the kebab was shredded and was hardly a piece of nan bread at all. This place was on offer for 40% off, to have paid what i did for this was very poor so to imagine anyone paying 40% more than what i paid could only be described as utterly abysmal. On top of this the delivery was late by about 10-15 minutes. For the attention of the owners, after a long day out in Edinburgh, the last thing i could be bothered doing was phoning you up to complain and hope to try get a refund, i do not know how this would have been received on your end. Instead of contacting you i have decided to leave this review to deter anyone else from suffering from the poor experience that my partner and i did. I would recommend any other potential customers to do the same as my partner andi done after this disappointing meal; take a walk to McDonalds.

We have used this restaurant before and been really satisfied with the food but tonight the prawn stater felt like it was frozen goods heat up £6 this cost then the curry and rice from set meals were not completely full and that garlic nan had no taste at!! Quite disappointed to say the least

The Biryani was delicious but the Keema Masala was not what was delivered. Keema Masala is mince, this was diced meat which was cooked in excessive oil.
