Wanna buy food that sits where rats crawl around? Wouldn’t eat here, save your money for somewhere that doesn’t keep your food sitting on a disgusting floor !!

What a shame, the food has always been great from here which is why we decided to order tonight but I can not believe how much oil there was in every dish, I've never seen anything like it! It was inedible unfortunately. The staff are great but the food tonight was a big disappointment. Hopefully it was just a one off.

Message to the serving staff and the chefs: If a customer asks you for a medium spicy dish, please pay attention and don't compare it with your personal hard core spice tolerance. Chefs: It will be good for the taste of your cooked meals to come through the spice NOT for it to be killed by it. Best wishes.

Small, very friendly and a lovely atmosphere. I had a chick pea side, chicken madras and it was right on the money. Will definitely make a point of returning, oh, and reasonably priced as well. Highly recommended.

St. John's Curry Club is on par with London's Brick Lane curry houses. If you love a curry I highly recommend you try St John's Curry Club. I like to try and not go to the same place twice but for St John's Curry Club I'm making an exception.

Omg, Best curry in the world!!!! The mysore chicken tikka makhani was lovely and creamy and tasty, the chicken succulent and bursting with flavour. The veg pakora is crispy (Other curry houses pakora are soggy and pastey) and compliments the dish just right! They come with a mint sauce that just explodes on your taste buds!!! (No other curry house makes this) I come in from Livingston just to pick it up. Its always hot! And the smell in the car is delicious! The staff are always professional and freindly. Best curry house in Edinburgh.

Been coming here for years and very aware of menu, so I have had lots, but just had N I Chilie garlic lamb and it was delicious ! Can’t get any better ☝️

We have been regulars here for many years but never again! Made an online order at 16.30pm which was accepted at 16.43 with scheduled delivery 17.56. That came and went and at 6.20pm we phoned to be told it was on its way and would be 5 mins. 18.56 came and went and we phoned again. Not at all helpfully and actually laughed when he said it had been delivered to the wrong address. He said if we came to the shop and made a fuss he would keep our money! I accept it was a human error but it is how they respond to this that matters. Whilst in the shop someone phoned to say they lived a few doors from us and their daughter took it in which now 2 hours after delivery was most convenient! How did they know it came from there? Then the delivery driver came back and said he delivered to the right number but the wrong street. So either they make a lot of mistakes or tell a lot of lies! I know what I think and I won't use them again if this is how they treat their customers.

"Tasty and spicy curries" *gluten free options available* Just got hungry after a whole day in Edinburgh and found this Indian restaurant on the way to my hotel almost next door. The curry ordered for takeaway was spicy and hot as demanded - delicious! The Basmati rice was soft and fresh even though I ordered the takeaway half an hour before closing hours. The staff was also very warm and welcoming. I hope I get the chance to come again and ordered the other dishes. I wished we would have more authentic Indian restaurants like this one in Germany:) food 4/5 (x2) the jalfrezi was amazing, the shahi was a little bit too creamy but also tasty price/performance 5/5 (x2) Almost to cheap for the quality, big portion of curry + rice service 5/5 very friendly staff atmosphere 3/5 Didn't look to cozy inside because the furniture was old and the light too white and industrial total 4.33 -> 4 stars

The food was delicious - we had poppadoms and then two starters (the roti boti was absolutely fabulous) a Biriani and a peshwari naan and we still had leftovers to take home. OK - we're not big eaters but it was really good and we had the leftovers as part of our dinner the next day. Definitely recommend this place!

Couldn't fault the meal, restaurant or service. Food was delicious and the menu was full of dishes which are not run of the mill. I actually ate here on a Monday and Wednesday of the same week I was impressed with my first visit. Obviously very popular, table of 9 walked in and the staff continued to serve me with no panic.

Best curry in Corstorphine if not West Edinburgh. Have sat in once, usually get a delivery.

This is our go-to curry spot. Great range of options and we haven't had a bad one yet. Take their recommendations on the sides - they know what pairs well with their mains. And if you're not too hungry, get the saag dal - it's unbelievably good!

I used to order from here fairly often, The Curries are decent enough but it depends what you go for some tbh as some are lacking in flavour and spice. Since they put their prices up to £10.00 minimum for practically every curry dish on the menu and it goes up and higher for a standard curry, I find it is just too much and too greedy on there behalf, when the quality of the food and portion sizes of the food isn’t exactly top tier so they need to give there heads a wobble here and calm down because the foods nowhere near the asking price they command. There is Bangla Kitchen curry takeaway just down the road from this place that is cheaper! and tastes better and offers bigger portion sizes, so I’ll be making that my new regular Indian takeaway from now on.

I have tried all Indian restaurants in Edinburgh including St John curry club. One thing is common everywhere except a few and really frustrating they all use the exactly same formula of tomato curry paste for making any Punjabi Mains /side dishes /curries. Also the portions here are too small we have to spend double the amount of money. I think all the cooks have learnt from the same cook. They should keep some variations for customers to repeat. Thanks.

Had a beautiful meal here tonight . Could not fault anything from start to finish. My wife said it was the best curry she has ever had, and I agreed .

Told us our delivery would be 1 hour so after waiting 1hour 30 minutes decided to give them a call and was advised it would be with us in 10 minutes. It eventually arrived 30 minutes later so politely told the delivery driver we didn't want it. This is the 3rd time they have let us down so will never be using them again!!!

Pretentious is one word that sums up this small quaint eatery. Reading the menu description gives one the image of a Boeing except that the food is equivalent to a Cessna. In other words the food is standard fare, just pretentious names for dishes. For example, where it says Kamalpuri Chingara, read samosa or Kerala Narkeli chingri is just a watery Prawn Kurma. We decided to pick-up as we were in a hotel nearby but their stated collection time is more ambition that reality.

Disgrace. Korma was cold and had no banana chunks as described. Chilli lamb garlic had no chilli. Lemon chicken was delicious though. Food was also served in bin bag.

We phoned this place on a Saturday night and were told a delivery time of 1hr...It came within the hour which was great.While we enjoyed what we had I wasn't blown away by it,plus one of the orders was wrong,but that didn't really matter as it was tasty enough but the lamb in my puri starter,I felt, was a little chewy and overcooked,plus the puri was a chapati!!!Hey ho.Despite that will try this place again

Good barayani. Lamb was tender. Not too spicy so if you are not used to the hot spices, just order as... a mildly spice level. It comes with tomatoey curry and it helps the Barayani go down smoothly.

A lovely wee restaurant with an interesting and unusual selection of vegetarian dishes. Very friendly and I thought it was reasonably priced.

I ordered a butter chicken….this is what I received. To make it worse the chicken could not be classed as chicken, unable to cut through it was complete gristle. Quite possible the most disgusting dish I have ever ordered. Will never use again.

Don't order from here unless you want your curry to arrive stone cold an hour late.

Had a lovely meal last night. Naan was exceptional. Small and intimate and no frills but very reasonably priced. We'll be back.

So disappointed I must say, have had the pleasure of beautiful meals from St John's since they first opened in Corstorphine but sadly have to say the chicken korma tonight was awful, no taste at all, would have been better with a jar of Scharwoods. My partner ordered butter chicken which was bland and so much liquid but he never complains. Good service though, called to complain and a new korma was delivered, unfortunately could not eat, bland, no taste and colour so off putting, what a waste of money and not good for St John's. Special Saturday treat ruined. So so disappointed. Will not be ordering from here again.

First curry of the year and again it was fantastic. Really flavoursome dishes and it was delivered in super quick time. We live 5 miles away but use this ahead of many others that are closer. Best Indian in West Edinburgh.

I was very disappointed in my curry. There was very little flavour and even after adding salt and pepper still didn’t taste of much. To be honest the sauce was more like soup than a curry

Ordered a delivery meal at 6.40pm to be told it would be an hour. 1hour and 30 minutes later it hadn't arrived so phoned to enquire. Told it would be 20 minutes. After a further 40 minutes, phoned to be told it was out for delivery. 2hours and 30 minutes after ordering it arrives without a word of apology from the delivery guy who won't have been any the wiser. There was a single, small bottle of kingfisher beer in the bag which wasn't ordered and there was no salad that was ordered. I assume the beer was meant to make up for the wait. Won't ever order from them again. Only took the food when it arrived because we'd already paid for it.

Reservamos una cena temprano durante la semana y nos recibieron calurosamente. No es un gran restaurante pero tiene fama.Pedimos el pompadum tradicional y salsas deliciosas para empezar que vinieron rápidamente. Las bebidas siguieron inteligentemente. Justo a tiempo llegó mi bhaji junto con pakora para mi esposa. No es el más hormigueo en la lengua, pero está bien.Mi Kanpuri Karahi como principal fue una buena ración y muy sabroso. El curry de verduras de mis esposas era el mismo. Igual de bien, el camarero recomendó solo un arroz y un naan.En general, una comida muy buena. Especialmente los platos principales. Vale la pena una visita. No había mucha gente allí, pero el comercio que pasaba encontró una mesa, ya que algunos de los que habían reservado no aparecieron. Me avergüenzo de ellos.

First class service, first class food, need I say any more

My friend & I had dinner last night and I felt compelled to write a short review. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and it being a small restaurant, they are currently operating at 50% capacity meaning there are 4 tables. We had a table for 2 in the corner which was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. It's easy to see why this place is considered one of the best small Indian restaurants in Edinburgh and often picks up awards. We benefited from the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme and had poppadoms, shared a veg pakora - 2 x speciality curries (Lamb Karahi, Ch. Tikka Masala), 2 x side dishes (prawn & aubergine, cauli & paneer), 2 x coconut rice, garlic naan, 2 x cokes & 2 x large Kingfisher and our bill was £28 - £40 with a good tip! Incredible value and one of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time. Definitely 5 stars and I will be returning soon! Thank you to all at St Johns Curry Club.

Recientemente visité Edimburgo y me dijeron que probara el Curry Club. He comido curry en diferentes ciudades del Reino Unido y Europa. Tengo que decir que este lugar es uno de los mejores. Los ingredientes, el aroma, el sabor. Excepcional. Había cuatro viajeros en nuestro grupo todos de la misma opinión. Este lugar es una pequeña joya rematada con un personal amable, educado y paciente. He leído algunos otros comentarios y me cuesta creer que estén hablando del mismo lugar. Tuvimos una experiencia completamente agradable.

Very disappointed in the food, after ordering online and waiting two hours, the food was not great. Lamb chops on the bone, came as small cubes of boneless lamb. Sitting in some red sauce, and full of veg...definately not prepared in normal clay oven used for tandoori. Chicken biriyani was also tasteless, £31 for the food, and not worth it. Will not order again

I wouldn’t have given any stars but wouldn’t let me review otherwise. Literally just filled out plates with delivery items and started eating to find a small spider crawling about the food. Disgusting, Had to all go in the bin, will never eat here again!!! Feel sick now

Acabamos de recibir nuestra comida del club de curry, después de casi 2 horas de espera, mi esposa tenía una araña en su comida, acabábamos de comenzar, así que todo tenía que ir al balde, la higiene debe ser terrible y muy sucia , por favor evita este lugar, lugar absolutamente repugnante.

Entrega ordenada que llegó según lo prometido. El repartidor se apartó de la puerta dejando comida en la puerta. Hemos usado este restaurante para nuestras comidas indias durante años (probamos otros pero siempre volvemos a ellos) nunca antes habíamos tenido que meter la punta en una mano enguantada de plástico, un buen toque en estos tiempos turbulentos. La comida estaba caliente, sabrosa y con una buena relación calidad-precio, ya que no se desperdicia nada. Gracias Street John's, es un privilegio vivir en su área de entrega.

Pedimos que se realizara una entrega y nos dijeron que serían unos 40 minutos. Después de una hora llamamos por teléfono y le dijimos que estaba en camino. Pasaron otros 40 minutos y finalmente llegó la comida. Hacía frío y casi no era comestible. Llamé y me quejé y me prometieron una contribución de 10 libras para nuestro próximo pedido. Cuando llamé para canjear esto, fue rechazado porque no podía citar la fecha exacta.

Amazing food chicken Shashlik was suberb

Food very nice, service good at start, in shock when we had finished our main meal, bill put on table immediately. No time to even ask for coffee or sweet. They were too busy making up deliveries. What about the dining customer?

They are not your average curry restaurant! They are award-winning, and it is well worth reserving a table as it is not that large. Alternatively, why not instead get a take-away?

Sensationally cooked lamb full of flavour! Great prices and a lot of work by these Chefs but it’s paying off. Lamb tasted like God’s wisdom. Phenomenal all round. Highly recommend. My 5th or so time ordering now in last 8 weeks it’s that good. 😎

Comí aquí en Nochevieja y me encantó que el restaurante fuera tan bueno como siempre. La comida y el servicio fueron fantásticos. Tuve el cordero Udaipuri Tikka Masala con arroz vegetal y un ajo naan, y fue absolutamente delicioso. Pensé que el postre de uva y melón de cortesía al final de la comida fue un toque encantador. Espero volver en un futuro próximo.

This is my favourite curry restaurant. The food is tops. It is reasonably priced and represents good value. Fast and friendly service. It is a small restaurant so booking is recommended at popular times.

Booked in for 6 of us on new years day ... we was staying next door in the white lady and found this superb gem of a restaurant... fabulous food and fantastic service.. great end to a amazing time in Edinburgh .. thanku

We ordered via their delivery app & waited for 1.5hrs for the food to be delivered. On opening the food it was so disappointing. Chicken pakora were cold, dry & tough. Chicken madras & butter chicken had same sauce but pepper added to madras. See the photo below... that is no way a butter chicken - no cream or tomatoes. Chicken was cold & tough too. Food ended up in the bin, waste of £22. Never again. Used to be great but so poor this time. Poppadoms were good tho!!

Lovely quaint little restaurant. Our food was excellent, as was the merlot we ordered. Staff were polite and attentive. Price was extremely reasonable, I will definitely visit again.

Visited for an evening meal at the small premises, the tables were small and tightly packed which is not good for a convivial meal. Starters were varied and some opted for a prawn puree others for Pandora. The mild puree and medium puree tasted the same! The Pandora was well cooked but the sauce let it down badly. Mains were varied from tandoori to garlic chilli chicken, mild chicken curry and all were pretty flat. All were well cooked but the spice and heat element of the dishes were very disappointing. Shame really, will not visit again as there are plenty of decent curry restaurants in this area.

Was apprehensive about ordering but read some alright reviews. Pakora was cold and rubbery as well as being four tiny bits. Naan lacked much flavour, was very small and in pieces when it arrived. Can of juice was warm also

Worst curry I've ever had!! This place need a serious lesson on how to make hot food!! My 5 year old didn't even find it spicy!! Obviously this had been in the freezer as when I warmed it in the microwave my plate looked like a swimming pool! Asked for extra garlic on my naan! Thing was like a dried slipper! Save your money and go somewhere else!! You will not see me back again!👎👎

Nunca he tenido un servicio tan grosero de un restaurante, entiendo que a veces puedes estar ocupado, pero gritar y ser verbalmente abusivo con los clientes es repugnante, una vez fui un cliente habitual, pero nunca volveré a comer aquí ni lo recomendaré. De nuevo en el restaurante, creo que estoy bien justificado haciendo una simple consulta telefónica para preguntar dónde está una entrega después de más de dos horas de espera, no espero que me griten y luego cuelguen tres veces antes de que pueda decir quién soy o desde donde llamo, si esta es la forma en que tratas a los clientes habituales leales en estos días, me sorprendió que este lugar todavía esté en funcionamiento, el miembro del personal con el que delto para ser honesto ha despedido sus necesidades, nunca antes en mi vida me habían hablado como este para tratar de hacer una pregunta simple, la comida es excelente pero el servicio es el peor que he tenido, la comida se ordenó a las 5:50 p.m. y todavía estaba esperando a las 8 p.m., así que no pidas si tienes hambre
