Just thought I would take the opportunity and time to give credit where it’s due! I have read through some of the reviews from 2022 and can only imagine that there was a hang over from Covid , or there must have been different owners? I couldn’t praise this establishment highly enough. This is the only Pub in the small hamlet of Redmire , and the centre of the community. It was a wonderful mixture of friendly ambience with excellent traditional food. 3 of us visited in June , and after dining on the Monday, we ate there for the rest of the week, and never had anything other than a good meal, trying different dishes every night! We are returning again in August , and will probably dine again every evening during our vacation. This is a fantastic local pub serving quality traditional food made from locally sourced produce. If people are expecting Haute cuisine, then they need to manage their expectations, and probably dine elsewhere, leaving more capacity for the customers that appreciate it. As far as we are concerned…. Well done and keep up the good work! 👍👍👍

Now renamed " The Village Pub Redmire" this is what a village pub should be. You can go and have a pint and a game of cards or like I did have a nice Sunday lunch and food is available throughout the week. The Sunday roast was absolutely brilliant, great vegetables cooked nicely and a lovely bit of pork washed down with a first class pint of Guinness

When we arrived, we were told that the kitchen was closing the following day for a couple of weeks so the menu may be limited as stocks were being run down. We did worry a bit what that would mean in terms of service and what we could choose. We need not have worried, whilst our first choice meals were 'out' our second choice meals were very good indeed. Steak and ale pie, (the last steak) and lamb were excellent - simple food done well. And with a very friendly service.

I didn't stay here so can't comment on the rooms. We called for Sunday Roast and it was fantastic. They were busier than expected and therefore short staffed. However, the only waitress/bar tender/front of house was Daisy. She was calm, professional, friendly and efficient. The floated gracefully between tables, kitchen and bar. Later, a second waiter appeared to help her out and of course the chef (owner?) was also busy in the kitchen. The menu at lunchtime was purely Sunday Roast. The 4 adults had starters and then I had the ham, my husband had beef and my son and his wife had pork with crispy crackling. The children had very generously portioned spaghetti with meatballs and chicken nuggets (homemade) with fries and peas. Each adult meal came with a Yorkshire pudding and side dishes of extra veg Inc creamy leeks, cauli cheese and broccoli . The meats were served with roast potatoes, honey roast carrots and parsnips. And gravy of course. It was all amazing and delicious. No room for desserts unfortunately. Maybe next time we will skip starters. Although.. They too were delicious! We will be back when next in the Yorkshire Dales.

We chose the Bolton Arms for our Sunday lunch as we were staying in nearby Carperby and had heard it was good. There's another review link on their website which raves about the food. So there was a lot to live up to - and it didn't fail. The 2 children's meals were huge and very reasonably priced. Meatballs and spaghetti plus Chicken gougons, fries and peas. Two adults chose pork, one beef and one ham roast dinners. Each came with Yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy. Separately, cauliflower cheese, creamy leeks and brocoli. Plenty to go round everyone. The meats were all fabulous. The pork crackling was crisp and tasty. There was only one member of staff front of house initially. The amazing Daisy.. She went serenely from bar to tables and kitchen without panic or fluster as the pub became much busier than they expected. A second waiter appeared later and the chef (owner) was kept busy too. We liked that the menu was purely Roast dinners (12-2.30) and saved us any choice dilemmas. The full menu is available from 5.30 None of us had any room to sample the desserts unfortunately. But we left satied and ready for an afternoon nap. Perfect Sunday!

Food under seasoned, not salted making the food a bit tasteless. Staff not very good, apart from the young girl who did her best. Tried to pay and told we had to go to the bar. Asked for the bill at the bar and then went back to the table to get the money together. We could have walked out without paying as there was no one behind the bar, they were out of sight and came round when we rang the bell. Paid £92.00 for 4 main courses and some beers. It was not a pleasant dining experience, it was overpriced, under seasoned food and we will not be going again. The prices are going up and up every time we go and they will price themselves out because it’s not worth it.

We’ve visited this village pub for meals before but this was our first overnight stay. Room was well equipped & a good size. Staff very friendly & helpful. The highlight of the stay was the food. We ate from the a la carte menu which was excellent quality, like you’d get in a good quality restaurant. There was also a pub grub menu available which looked good & cost less! This pub is in an excellent location for walking or exploring the northern Dales, we’re happy to recommend it, and we’re looking forward to a return visit.

A good place for kids with an easy and affordable kids menu and a small outdoor play area. Basic menu with warm-up Asian food as an option for adults too. Not great for vegetarians or gluten free options, though there were a few dishes on the menu. Easy parking. Lots of shouty sweary adults in the kids play area. Not very attractive or picturesque, but very friendly and helpful staff.

We booked a table for dinner on 20th July. We asked about their selection of white wine and were told they only had Sauvignon Blanc. When pushed the waiter found a bottle of Chardonnay , but there were no other options. Very unusual not to have a basic choice of wine and very disappointing as we wouldn’t have chosen either of these wines. When the waiter came to take our order, 3 out of the 4 starters were not available. Again, so disappointing! We settled for a main course and did not bother asking about dessert. The waiter was professional and politely explained the issues and did a good job in the circumstances. Sadly, lots of things were not available which made the visit one big disappointment. Would be very reluctant to return as it seems reading earlier reviews, this is not an isolated incident.

Lovely haven on a soaking wet day. So clean and very well maintained. Excellent food served with a smile. Really good place.
