The pie & chips was really good and it was so lovely to sit in the sunshine on the pier with the food. We chose a bench that wasn’t near any food establishments so that we weren’t swooped by seagulls. Unfortunately the vinegar didn’t taste of much - it seemed like it had been watered down.

Terrible food ie Fish was greasy , chips were like cardboard as they are placed under the hot lamp to keep them warm , must have been cooked for a while because they were inedible, staff member were sympathetic to our complaint and the Manager was customer friendly and listened to our concerns hopefully action will be taken to replace there suppliers , there is plenty of competition in the vicinity so if I was the owner it would be my priority.

Horrible place. An Eastern European woman who worked there was belittling a younger member of staff in front of me as she served me ,I felt so sorry for the poor girl. The woman seemed to be extremely irritated by my audacity to come into the restaurant to buy lunch! I wanted to double check my order was taken correctly and she was barking at me and getting mad. She also started on the family after us in the queue. Food was OK but pricey. There is something deeply wrong with their slushy machine as it tasted like bogwater!

Not very friendly, an extremely miserable environment. I visited with my two children and my Dad. I found the staff very rude and they really couldn’t be bothered at all! They were all walking around Like zombies. I could tell that none of the staff actually wanted to be there. I asked for a portion of sausage and chips, the man serving didn’t even acknowledge myself or my children. He just chucked the food into a container and handed it to me, there was no greeting. The food wasn’t very fresh, it was just sat waiting under a hot lamp. The lady at the payment counter seemed nice although I could tell she was new. She took quite a while to work out the price of the food. The carbonated drinks out of the pumps were flat. I couldn’t rush back here, the overall environment was very dead.

This place advertised meal deal offers which were not valid. The batter on the fish was very greasy and soggy, and the chips were overcooked and rock hard. It was dishonest advertising for overpriced and poorly cooked fish and chips. One to avoid.

Rude staff, soggy and greasy fish. Chips not fresh, as placed under hot lamp. Ordered 2 cod and chips meal deal but chose not to have the side of sauce with one. But still had the drink. Then charged extra as one came without the side. Nearly £5 more. What a rip off. Would not recommend this place and certainly not coming back. We travel up and down the county and this is by far the worst place for fish and chips.

Very over priced just under £30 for 3 burgers and chips 90p for one sachet of ketchup 2 mins after ordering a family came in out of no where a voice shouted get out we are closed to them, one of the family members went you joking? The voice again went no we are closed get out! It wasn’t until I stood up to see where they are, they was the other side of the restaurant, that’s no way to talk to potential customers . Just approaching and explaining goes along way! If we hadn’t paid we would have left there and then.

Reading the reviews below, we had a very different experience. The fish and chips were gorgeous; light batter and flaky, chunky white cod. Seagulls not as bad as on beach but still a slight problem (not helped by some customers not clearing away). Lovely spot on the pier; we sat in the sun with a nice view. Really enjoyed it.

I have never visited a fish and chip restaurant where the staff are soooo rude! We only wanted a couple of portions of chips for the kids so we went to the outside window which said take away. Got to the window and the woman closed the window in our faces and said ‘No take away’ and walked away. She was foreign u could tell. So we ended up going in to the restaurant side and getting the 2 portions of chips and that woman was stood there looking at us and talking in a foreign language. The lady who served the chips just chucked them on the counter. People like that need training on customer service. I have been a secret shopper many times and I will never be going back to this place and in my eyes a zero rating.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Sat down here with my partner and two children. We got the children something to eat as it was very convenient being on the pier. My eldest son (3) had a beefburger. As he was half through it i suddenly realised the meat inside was still raw. I immediately took it away, then one of the male staff came over. We had complained to him about it and said he needed to talk to the chef and that we would be extemely cross if our soon gets food poisioning. He laughed at the situation rather than taking it seriously which is discusting. We then left, came home, and now i have a very unwell toddler with stomach cramps and what seems to be the start of food poisioning, so will be contacting the relevant people ( enviromental health etc) about this situation seeing as they think its a laugh/joke. VILE!!!

Great looking place and handy location. Didn't realise until we had sat down that food is kept under hot food lamps, rather than being freshly cooked. We had 2 fish n chips, 1 kids fish fingers, 2 bottles of pop, 2 bread rolls and came to nearly £30 which is a lot! Fish flakey and good quality but a but greasy. Chips similar. Fish fingers looked grey..seemed cheap value ones. Did the job. Nothing more. Saves a walk if you're enjoying the pier!

Where do we start.. So went to the counter to place my order and they didn't have any cooked fish etc. ready so asked me to pay for my order and they bring the order to the table. So I paid for my order which was just under £30 and took a seat.. and the waited and waited. The other family we were with are eating there meals and were watching new customers coming in and getting served there meals and sitting down to eat... the young man at the till point come over and said what did you order again (something to do with his till did work but didn't explain himself properly) Then I saw the young man walking to the counter and back to his till booth. And still waiting.... I then decided to check what going on As I'm still see new customers coming in getting served and sitting down to there meals.. Spoken to young man in till booth. He now going to check. No explanation of what going on. No apology nothing. Eventually our meals arrive but not all together like you'd expect And as the young lady places the tray on the table she then said "sorry for the wait" and runs back To be fair the fish and chips were nice and it was filling. But it's hard to get over being fobbed off like that. After the our meals I decided to speak to what I thought was the manager (young man in a shirt) I explained what had happened and all he could do is apologise no really that all he can do is apologise and either give you a free drink or 10% off your bill On reflection: I don't think the left hand knows what the right hands doing. Oh and customer service none existent I took forward to your reply If you would like more information like time taken, descriptions of staff, till recipes just ask..

We got our Pier Passes eighteen months ago, promising ourselves we'd have a day on the pier and indulge in some seaside fish and chips as soon as the pandemic eased up a bit and the pier reopened. Well, today was the day! We used our passes, walked along the pier to the Boardwalk Cafe, saw it was virtually empty, but decided to eat there anyway. I ordered our meals, and got our drinks, went to pay, but there was no till-roll. I had to lend the chap my pen so he could write it out on a bit of paper. I commented, "Very expensive coffee with no receipt!". The young girl at the serving counter advised me the food still had to be cooked although I saw fish and chips and other foods ready and warming in the heater. Then we took our seats at a table. I had to change chairs as my original chosen chair had food on it. The fish and chips arrived, loads of chips, far too many, mostly very small chips. But the fish was huge, wider than the container it was served on. The fish was in nice big moist flakes but the batter was very greasy. I asked the baristress for some sauces and she pointed out their position near the cutlery. What?? 30 pence each sachet?? No way! But I took two anyway! We left most of our tiny chips (far too many), and the organisation is so slack and inefficient that we could easily have walked out without paying! I must be an honest person, because I mentioned this to the baristress and asked how I could pay (the original chap had disappeared and the till looked to be closed) - BUT I never mentioned the sauces at 30 pence each and no-one ever checked! Once again there was no till-roll, so once again I had to offer my pen for a receipt to be scribbled thereon. So, our thoughts on leaving were, "Well, we've done it after all this time, but never again!".

Not usually keen on leaving a review, but needed to make an exception for this exceptional place. The plethora of empty seats should have been the first indication. So, we waited for 5 minutes just to be seated(as per the sign). A woman walked out half baked and pointed us to sit anywhere. At this point I should have taken more notice of the barely eaten food left on other tables. Once she attended to us I asked for a battered sausage and chips, no battered sausage. Large sausage then please, no large sausage. Is this some kind of comedy sketch? If you can batter a fish surely you can batter a sausage. My partner ordered a veggie burger and chips with curry sauce and condiments. We fancied a tipple so also ordered 2 ciders. The substances arrived, however I would recommend that they bring raw potatoes and a live pig in future as I believe that an infinite amount of monkeys could have eventually made a more suitable meal with enough. Chips were not worth mentioning, two minuscule sausages in place of a large. No salad with the dry veggie burger placed between two halves of a stale bun. I would recommend some beginner courses for development, perhaps three staff members were sat in the “cafe” answering phone calls could have helped out things .I wish we had just taken the cider and curry sauce (which she actually forgot to bring in the first place) as it would have been the most positive experience to take away from this hell made manifest. A grandiose pier and a blandiose meal. At least the food was warm. We’re hoping this doesn’t taint our opinion of Weston.

Now the reason i have given it a 2 stars for is because the customer service was poor and also i am disabled use a mobility scooter and a walking stick. I had parked my scooter up and walked to the counter with my stick to order food. Luckily i had my 10 year old brother with me who had to carry a tray of 4 meals which i was cautious of because i didn't want him to drop them. Zero Stars if I could. Over-priced food from staff who don't give a damn about anything, clearly. How this place has got a Food Hygiene Certificate is beyond me. £26 for 2 cod and chips, chicken nuggets and chips and a bottle of pop is £20 too much to pay for this slop. Ok, the fish was alright at best, the nuggets were overcooked and as for the chips? They might as well have given us a spoon and said "help yourself to the fat from our fryers". I have never tasted such vile, oil-drenched, soggy chips in my life. Absolutely disgusting. If you were thinking of going here to eat, think again, unless you want a real dodgy belly a couple of hours later. I will never eat here again, even if they offered me a free meal. Well well well, what can we say about this place? Having paid money to go on the pier, me and my partner thought it would be nice to sit and have some fish and chips for lunch, looking out at the sea. How wrong we were. We walked in, and it could only be described as a high school cafeteria vibe. We were greeted by a lady who looked like she had the personality and intelligence of a plank, and would look more at home in a wax museum. The service from her could only be described as laboured, at best, or incompetent at worst. I asked for a chicken burger and chips, very simple, and when she offered me a better deal, I stuck with my original order as I did not want 2 pieces of chicken, this appeared to frustrate said lady. She begrudgingly shuffled back into the kitchen to get a bread bun, shuffled back and shoved a piece of chicken between it and what appeared to be a single potatoes worth of chips. I will say, there was a decent amount of thick, gloopy, oily curry sauce, which, on scooping, revealed a skin. The taste was akin to a curry, second time round. My partner ordered the cod and chips. The cod was drier than Ghandi’s flip flop and the chips lacked flavour, it was as if the oil was left over from the 80s. At least there was at least 2 potatoes worth of chips on his portion though! So overall, the damage was £22 for some bland, unattractive and frankly disgusting fish and chips. 10/10 would not come here again, wouldn’t wish this food upon my worst enemy.

It was a sunny day and it we were seated on the pier, I had cod and chips with mushy peas. They weren't quite up to the standard of my local chippie but were certainly edible, and I am quite fussy with my food.I would've preferred it if they were served on a plate as opposed to putting the fish on top of the chips in the cardboard tray, but I think that's just personal preference. The batter wasn't as crispy as I would like and the peas somewhat watery, but the chips were lovely. All in all I enjoyed the meal. However charging 30p per sachet for the condiments (apart from salt and vinegar) is a bit much. Given that it is a restaurant not a takeaway. They could give you one sachet per meal included in the cost of the meal. The portion of fish was quite large, I couldn't finish it, but one scoop of chips. My daughter had a southern fried chicken burger and chips and she enjoyed her meal.

So I take my family out on a day trip to western supermud for a day and it lashes down all day, no problem there as we planned to spend most the day at the pier anyway...As per our previous visits, all very clean, arcade staff are always about to help with stuck coins, spew clear ups and general friendliness..We got hungry so decided to eat at the dodgy costa coffee shop thing,Basically a room with table and chairs with staff who were struggling to keep up with the queue of 4 people !!6hot drinks and 6 sarnies later £30 :-0We opted for this ‘eatery’ as the chippie was packed with people just sheltering and not all were actually eating. I do apologise to the ‘lady’ serving behind the counter for taking a tray and putting 6 cartons on it.I assumed because they were were plates normally are and they are on the customer side AND next to the blooming trays that we were to use them..So I corrected my error by letting her snatch the damn things back out of my hands and be told I was not to have those as she will serve me,Blimey sorry luv.We couldn’t quite decide what we all wanted but seeing as we were the only ones being served and not causing a queue we quickly discussed, while be tutted and scorned atStarting to feel a tad uncomfortable now..So we quickly decided on two lots of sausage n chips and 4 lots of fishcake n chips. To which we were told not enough chips for us all and will have to wait.Go pay at the till and tell them at the till you need to pay for the extra chips.Yes boss!!Young chap at till was great by the way. When tucked in..Fish cakes were all dry and tough, they had clearly been on the hot counter for too many HOURS, the chips were blatantRewarmed precooked rubbishI’ve tasted better cardboard than these rank things you call “chips”And you charge extra if we want to add a squirt of sauce..you are letting the pier down with your attitude madamYou are also horrible to your staffPoor show..If you don’t like your job, then let someone else do it, who wants to do it.We won’t be put off coming to western super mare as although it rained most our day, we still enjoyed it (apart from £90 on rubbish foods)Next time we will either bring sarnies,Eat at the chippie in townOr grab a maccies on way home

If you approach this place with the right attitude - it's a pier cafe - then it's perfectly good. My son and I had fish and chips with 2 bottles drinks for £12. Portions were good sized and the fish was freshly cooked. I've paid double that at places like Harry Ramsdens for nothing better.

I went on the 25/3/17 as we were on the pier, it looks OK from the outside and inside was good I had a good vibe about it, How wrong I was it is the worst place I've eaten fish and chips! The pre battered fish I think was frozen as it had that fishy frozen taste like you get when you freeze prawns etc and it tasted horrible, it was sent back for a second one but that was the same, the batter was to uniform like you get on sweet and sour chicken balls and it was soft inside, not like proper battered fish in a proper fish and chips shop. I'll Never return to this restaurant. For the price they charge for fish and chips £7.95 I do expect freshly cooked fish not frozen!!!

Goodness they make it hard to order. Five times we had to run through an order for two adults and three kids. Disorganised and detached staff. Food is acceptable but not great. Good for kids but bland. Disappointing

Went for a day trip and after paying for wristbands and pier entrance did not want to eat elsewhere. Tables were not cleaned to a good standard and wicker chairs were sticky and had food embedded in them. All condiments were greasy. Overall not a pleasant place to eat. Although the chips were OK the portions were very small and very over priced. Would not recommend.

The fish was cold and very greasy, my daughter had a burger, the burger bun was soaked in dirty looking oil, the staff was very rude when I complained about my food, she snatched the plates from my hands, she brought another lot of food to are table and slammed the plates down, we never finished are meals as the food was disgusting, I wouldn't waste your money in this place

Visited this cafe yesterday . There were 13 Nursing home residents and 12 carers. I asked if we could possibly have 25 "half" meals of fish and chips. The chef came out to see me and I explained what I wanted. My residents wouldn't eat a full portion. I gave the chef some "takeaway" containers that I'd brought with me. They were so accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble for them They told me to go and sit down and that they would serve us which they did. Then when I went to order drinks an explained that the tea needs to be at a cool temperature, they brought big jugs of water over for us, checked we had everything we needed and were so friendly and courteous. If you love good old fashioned customer service where the staff make you feel valued and welcome, this is the place to come. Oh! The fish and chips were divine also!

We went here for fish and chips as we were on the pier for the afternoon. It had a very 'canteen' feel and yet it was far from cheap to buy food and the queue was long. The fish and chips were nowhere near as nice as those we tried the day before out on the beachfront and considerably more expensive. They were tasteless and disappointing. The only good thing was that you got a free kids meal with any adult meal so my son ate sausage, chips and beans. It really wasn't worth it though. Don't bother.

Popped in here as hungry after playing in the arcade. It was not cheap and an adult fish and chips was almost £8 but the fish looked massive so we decided to share a plate. They just run out of fish as we got to the counter so they have us a number and told us to take a seat, sadly when they brought our fish over it was tiny! Typical, all the times we share and we get the smallest portion. Children's meals were not cheap either. After we had eaten we saw a sign that was buy one adult meal and get child's free shame these signs were not clearly displayed. The fish and the chips were lovely though. It's 30p for a portion of tomato sauce and for a small cup of drink with a straw it £1.95. They did a few other dishes to. I would eat there again

We met friends at the pier and thought it would be nice to eat at the end of the pier. Do not waste your money. The fish and chips were by far the worst food I have eaten. They were cold, tasteless and very expensive for what you got. They were virtually thrown at us. We all agreed it was British food at it,s worst. Also there was,nt any cutlery so I asked a girl for some and she looked at me as if I,d got two heads!!! Did,nt think it was a lot to ask for.

Stopped for lunch here whilst on a day trip to the pier. Most of the lunches were fairly basic and everything with chips. Filled a gap for a lunch but despite having a "kids eat free" offer, 2 adult meals of nuggets & chips and cottage pie & chips with soft drinks came to nearly £18 with a kids sausage & chips meal. Food choices didn't match the menu on the screens, which was a bit weird given that having the menu on a TV screen should mean it can be changed easily?Food was nice enough for what it was, the queue has a tendency to be a bit manic when busy but it was nice enough if a little expensive for what was on offer. No complaints.

Decided to stop for a coffee and ended up buying lunch, the cutlery was dirty and unpolished, the staff are rude and not once asked to see if everything was okay, the chips and overcooked but so cold that even the cheese wouldn't melt, but the coffee was reasonable, it's over priced for what they offer and wouldn't recommend it to anyone

On a trip to the pier yesterday we decided to stop for lunch here, it was pretty basic but relatively busy. The first thing we noticed was that none of the 8 soft drink syphons worked, there were bottled drinks so not the end of the world though. Then the service. ......This left a lot to be desired, rude, abrupt and generally awful. Then to the food, I think I'm fairly easy to please, I don't expect 5 star food from a cafe but I do expect it to be edible! Out of the 5 meals we ordered only one was any where near satisfactory, the rest were cold, tasteless and overcooked. If you are going to eat here is recommend the jacket potato, it was the only thing that was cooked to order and therefor hasn't been sitting around half the day!Three adult meals of sausage and chips, 1 jacket potato with cheese, 1 child's chicken nuggets and chips (which was free) and 4 bottles of drink, oh and 2 sachets of sauce cost nearly £35!This would almost be acceptable if the food was edible but as it was I would recommend you avoid this place!

We only had half-an-hour for lunch whilst on the Grand Pier and so chose fast food at the Boardwalk. There was no-one else there, so self-service was quick. I just had a portion of chips - generous but so squidgy and boring - not how chips should be - had to leave a lot. My husband had plastic-looking sausages and chips - I was told the sausages were "grim". Thought the food was over-priced. Very pleasant sitting on the boardwalk in brilliant sunshine but seats could have been cleaner of seagull droppings. When we walked past later we saw a mother changing her baby's nappy on top of one of the tables. This is simply unacceptable and there should be enough staff around to ensure this kind of event cannot happen. I have previously given good reviews to the Pier as an attraction and to Tiffany's as a café/tea room but the Boardwalk is so disappointing.

We arrived in the morning Senior citizen's trip. We were member of conservative club locally. My husband and I went there about early lunch, pressed to request could we enter no problem, we could have signed visitors book. The person there then very polite. Late before going back to our collection point we decided to return. we done this same thing but this time a man answered . Asked we were members explained on a visit and where from and we did not have docs on us but before we could say could we sign as visitors the conversation went not member's cannot be allowed in and put the intercom down. HOW RUDE. Would I return no and would I recommend no not if that person can not use some manners .

I went to this delightful pub/restaurant in Portbury, Bristol, with a friend. Our lunch was delicious, freshly cooked, and very filling. It was quite quiet, we went on a Monday afternoon. The staff, in particular Andrea, were friendly, attentive and helpful. I would happily recommend it for a quiet, weekday lunch.
