We had our wedding here, from ceremony to reception. Grace and her team were faultless. Grace guided us through the day, so we didn't have to worry about a thing. She made us both feel relaxed and looked after. The rooms were beautifully set up, the wedding breakfast was lovely and the in house DJ had everyone on the dance floor. A perfect day, we would highly recommend having your special day here. We even had some cheeky treatments in the hotel spa the day before. Just what you need before your big day ❤️. We attended a surprise party, it was fabulous, the food was amazing and staff were so helpful! Thanks to Immy she was so lovely and another lady from Birmingham who was also very helpful and chatty 🥰

Excellent value Sunday lunch . 3 courses for just £22. Very well prepared food , and there was a great selection, ( Carvery). Rare to come away from a restaurant feeling that you have had your moneys worth these days, So I would happily recommend this place on the price alone, and I was very impressed with the overall experience.

Stayed here for one night with children under7. Friendly staff. Good facilities for children including a great playground and a childrens area attached to the bar. Use of the pool with a shallow part (good for children). I would definitely stay here again.

We were a family of 10 celebrating a birthday having afternoon tea. The food was good as good as they go, sandwiches, scones, which were warm and cakes. All freshly made. They accommodated all our allergy’s. We had one that had a peanut allergy, no soya and gluten free and a veggie. The staff were friendly but it took 40mins to get our plate of sandwiches and they didn’t ask us if we wanted more drinks, tea. A lovely place but I wouldn’t go back for afternoon tea.

The whole dining experience was perfect from start to finish. The service from the moment we arrived in the bar to the time we left was exceptional. The Christmas Lunch was perfect, the food was very tasty and very generous with the amount of food we were given. The timings were perfect and evenly spread out between the courses. We were not rushed and there was always someone on hand should we need anyone. There were 2 children in our party and they loved the whole experience (especially the Crackers!) We had a wonderful lunch as a family to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The food was exceptional. The starters were magnificent and the roast beef was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. Well done.

We booked mother day carvery for a family of 14. 30 minutes before our reservation time my daughter unfortunately became unwell and started vomiting. My husband stayed at home with her so the rest of our party could still enjoy a meal out. However on arriving at the restaurant we were told we could not have a refund for my daughter or my husband despite having a very valid reason why they couldn't come! We asked whether they would rather I had bought a vomiting child into the restaurant and the very rude restaurant manager Alex told me that was my decision. They offered to let us take a box of food home which wasn't all that helpful for a poorly child. What made it worse was the attitude of the restaurant manager Alex who when I asked for an email address to send a formal complaint laughed in my face and began sniggering at me with another one of his colleagues. He told me if I had called to cancel earlier we would have had a refund...this was difficult when my daughter had only became ill 30 minutes before our booking!! The only positive point of our visit was the polite, kind server/chef at the meat carving station who was very apologetic and understood why we felt let down. Overall as you may have guessed we won't be visiting again!

Haven’t been to the hotel for likely 18-24 months but was previously familiar with it. Today I opted to host a meeting with a colleague here that saw us both arrive in the AM with the intent to take coffee and lunch and, at the same time, support a local business and seek to decide that it would be a good venue for ongoing, regular internal and customer meetings. First of all, the place has been well maintained and is looking good. Also the communal areas seemed very clean and tidy. Other than this though, the experience was terrible. This is a 4 star hotel, the food and beverage service was 1 star - no service in the lounge area to the side of reception, we had to walk the length of the hotel to order as reception were not interested in assisting at all - the hotels revenue prevention team! When we initially had drinks in the bar and wanted to transfer the tab to the previously mentioned area, off of reception, we couldn’t do that - had to settle and open a new tab! Then, the music! The area off of reception is a lovely sitting area with a number of I for al arrangements of furniture. Both my colleague and I and also another guest sat nearby observed just how loud the “background” music was - so much so that we couldn’t easily maintain conversation. So the nearby guest decided to give those incredibly useful people at reception another chance . . . needless to say the effort was fruitless . . . the reception team declared it “impossible” to adjust the volume of the background music! Wether there is sense to the food and beverage service/inability to transfer tabs or wether the background music truly is “impossible” to adjust is neither here nor there - the service was very poor and the staff need a solid lesson in putting the customer first. I will for sure be back - this could have been a bad day - and as the hotel is moments away from me it would be a shame if I couldn’t use it to host overnight business guests or simple breakfast/lunch catch ups like today. Hopefully second time lucky!

We used to come here a lot and was always happy with the Sunday dinner. The staff were stood around chatting and had to be prompted for a drink or to clear the table. The price has also gone up. The meal was not worth nearly £20 for an adult and £10 each for a 3 and 5 year old is extortionate! The meat felt like it was on rations and the pig in blankets were the smallest I have seen and again only two put on the plate. When asking for more it felt very uncomfortable and what was an all you can eat buffet feels like your rationed. The chef mutter the meat and sausages had to do another 60 covers. Veg was average. Beef was also sooooooo rare. I like rare meat but this was blue rare. The deserts which used to be put out and have a selection has gone and your only allowed one choice which is served to you. The cheeses has also gone. All in all, price gone up and quality and choice has gone down. Staff not tentative. Such a shame as it could be wonderful.

We stayed here for the weekend. Reception staff were friendly and helpful upon arrival. The room qe stayed in was clean although I felt 3 phones in the room was slightly OTT and the TV needed updating as a few channels didn't work. The sliding door leading to the outside area also let a slight draft into the room. However, the bed was very comfortable, plenty of storage in the room and comfortable chairs. Carrie's bar had friendly staff and is a lovely place to chill out with a few drinks. We had breakfast on our last day, we had to pay extra for this which we felt was very overpriced for a buffet breakfast which wasn't thay great, but due to being on the road for 3 hours, we had to eat something. So I'd recommend booking a room with breakfast included. The location of the hotel was lovely with plenty of parking.

Visited for Sunday carvery today, very disappointed. Arrived early to very friendly staff, when going up to main carvery plate not warm, choiceof 3 meats which were ok, then all downhill!! Soggy Yorkshire pud, pigs in blankets fatty, soggy stuffing, roast potatoes not browned, carrots not good quality, all of wich was luke warm. We were one of first to arrive so anyone after us would find quality worse. At £19.95 per head would definitely not recommend. Better quality and price near by.

My family and I stayed for 1 night… We had two rooms, one room the shower didn’t work, dirty tissues beside the bed. I booked for champagne and chocolates on arrival and they were not in the room. Then when I questioned it Prosecco was brought to the room! The fridge in the room was empty and not even glasses or water in the room. The restaurant has to be one of the worst I have ever been in, everything served was frozen. We needed an ice pack for one of our children, the first first aid box only had a plaster to offer so we were given ice cubes in cling film! We have never complained about any restaurant or hotel but this has to be one of the worst experiences ever.

Had lunch with a friend in Carries Bar. We both had fish and chips with a pudding ( I had the brownie and ice cream, my friend had the toffee pudding and ice cream)- all this lovely food for £9:95- what a bargain! As usual the staff were excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed and very pleasant. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for three nights and nothing can be faulted. Our room was huge with a nice balcony. Hotel grounds very nice and service in the bar and restaurant was faultless as was the food which was very very good. I loved the burger and chips it was fabulous. We also had the Sunday lunch three course meal that was very good and enjoyable. Finally a mention to all the staff who could not do enough for us. We visited the Carvery for Sunday lunch with the family. It was shocking. Very poor quality main course. Turkey roll ??? Why not have a carved whole turkey ?? As a family we have used this beautiful hotel for many, many years, on recent visits we have watched the food side of things slip to a sub standard level.

Duty manager Alex Paupelis rude, unapologetic and inconsiderate. No hot water and told common problem at peak times so if you know there is a problem then fix it do not let your guests wake up to not hotel water and having to boil the kettle to have a wash. Not good.

We sat at a used/not cleared table in the bar area and ordered a sandwich each and a drink. We cleared our own table and it wasn't wiped by any one. Food arrrived, fish finger sandwich, it was Okay, a bit bulky to eat though. I found a hair in mine, just avoided it and ate the salad, when the waitress finally came to clear the table I let her know about the hair, I was made to feel that I was the one in the wrong, she made a face at me and reluctantly said sorry. Terrible service, they were not to busy either, I think the management need to monitor this area as it was a nice setting and we would have used it more often as my friend has just moved into the area. We will find some where else.

We arrived on a very cold Saturday afternoon, checked ourselves in and then decided we would go back to the bar for afternoon coffee, which turned into an afternoon of high tea with fizz!

Our second visit to this restaurant in 5 weeks. Good food and service.indeed service was better than our last visit. Probably slightly overpriced.

We were a family group there to celebrate my sister's birthday and had all submitted our food orders 7 days in advance as requested by the hotel, my sister had delivered the list personally and fortunately was given a photocopy by the receptionist who received it. When we went to take our seats in the restaurant we were not expected, The conversation went along the lines of 'you didn't send us the order', 'I brought it personally' 'well, we haven't got it'. etc etc. The attitude was bad. My sister, needless to say, was very upset, but fortunately had brought the photocopy and presented that to the 'maitre d' or whatever she was called, so staff could start preparing the meal. A little later, guess what, the list turned up, it had been put in the wrong file. Not a good start to what was a very average meal. When did restaurants start lavishing salt on a child's chips? More were requested but took so long to come that the rest of the meal had been finished. I could go on. Fortunately as a family we overcame all this with our good mood and readiness to have a good time for my sister. I don't know if my sister received any discount but she should have.

We were 8 adults enjoying our Sunday 3 course lunch. The ambiance is great and the staff are friendly. The food, well it is to die for.The carvery was first class with three meats with fluffy Yorkshire puds.The service was prompt and courteous. But the cherry on top were the puddings.The sticky toffee pudding was the best we have eaten out at a restaurant. The view from the windows is also breathtaking.This is a must visit if you can fit it in. We will return when next in the UK.

Thoroughly enjoyed our family visit to this eatery. All the food was fresh, well cooked and well stocked. Will be returning.

As a vegetarian and having given the hotel prior notice, I was alarmed to see that my sandwiches were placed on a plate with meat and fish sandwiches, When I pointed this out to the Waiter, he came back promptly to ask "if I was one of those difficult vegetarians that doesn't eat fish?" Not impressed!!!

9 of us had Sunday Lunch here today. Staff all very helpful. The choice at the starter buffet has reduced slightly but still ok. Main courses were nice, plentiful amounts of meat and vegetables. Only criticism was there was just one vegetarian choice and it wasn’t labelled so this was a little disappointing. Desserts were pretty good. A good solid meal, nice surroundings, good value for money.

stayed here for 4 days on a Christmas break (organised by Jones Coach holidays of Flint).It was an excellent choice and proved to be a very good holiday.the staff at the hotel were always cheerful and helpful and combined to make Christmas a special treat.(It is a long time since I have personally received a present from Santa and I am in my mid seventies)The food was excellent and the whole atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I booked up to have a meal for six of us on my wife's birthday(January first) some two weeks earlier (we went here last year, same day). On arriving we sat down to be told: "it is only Carvery tonight ". I explained we were not told that whilst booking, last year we could order from the Alacarte menu. After talking to the Manager explaining the problem, he did not even apologise or offer an alternative only a sandwich etc from the lunch menu. We would have to move to the bar area to eat this as well. We usually spend some £250 on our meals on this birthday meal, we decided to try somewhere else where we could get a meal of our choosing. Sadly we will not go here again after the way were treated.

Had a carvery £35per head, the selection compared to Toby carvery ( £7 per head) was poor, small selection of veg,(all tasted like they were from frozen)very watery, the only reason I gave it 2 star's was for the deserts, they were lovely ( but not worth £35) would not go again (if someone was going to treat me to desert I might think about it)

My family and I have visited Blunsdon House during the festive season for several years now. Usually, we opt for a carvery however the quality of the food is just not what it used to be. Frozen sprouts, chewy meat and the cheap block of cash and carry Christmas pudding meant that we decided to try the bar food this year.

Was blown away by the food. Best food on mass catering I have ever had at an event like this. The ceaser salad was delicious, Christmas Dinner was blinding and the lemon tart was spot on.

Had there a Xmas party food was absolutely awful, cold and blunt, dessert (lemon tart) was so sweet that was impossible to eat only the couple of fruit next to it were eatable, stuff unhelpful... Im pregnant and there was only alcohol on the table not even a water when asked if we can have water was told by waiter that I need to go and purchase it from the bar!!

I was originally booked in for a Sunday lunch at the weighbridge but heard a few negative reports and decided to cancel. So opted for the Blunsdon House Hotel as a Plan B. This proved to be a pretty good alternative. For a reasonable sum of money you get access to a carvery which includes a good selection of starters and sweets. The portions are very generous and aside from the meat/fish/vegetarian options you can basically help yourself to as much as you want. So go with a good appetite. The quality of the food is good - in particular I was impressed with the starters and the range of puddings on offer. It is very popular so you are definitely advised to book to avoid disappointment. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and I thought the quality of the food was very good. Staff work hard and are friendly and helpful. If you are looking for somewhere that offers a classic Sunday dinner menu it is certainly worth a visit. Very good value for money too.

My sister and I arranged to meet here for lunch and a girly chat afterwards. The Carvery was good with plenty of choice - beef, pork, fish and lasagne. Our waiter was French and I had a lovely time chatting to him in his native tongue. The coffee lounge was comfortable with little noise. Over-all we had a pleasant and enjoyable time and wouldn't hesitate to meet up again here.

We often have Sunday Lunch at the Blunsdon's Flame Restaurant. The Carvery is very good and they have a good range of vegetables and gravy for Veggies.

This was a Christmas gift to my partner and I. I had never had a cream tea so was really looking forward to it. Oh dear the selection was very poor. We got clotted cream which neither of like but there was no alternative. The coffee was horrid more like tar and the sandwiches were bland. The service was certainly not with a smile. £30 for 2 people we won’t be going back.

Swanky looking hotel and very nice decor and well laid out but almost nobody else there on a Saturday lunchtime, which should have acted as a warning.

My friends and I had a great carvery here recently. We had an early table (12:15) so everything was fresh and plentiful! I would definitely recommend a roast here :-)

The food was of a very good standard and personally I liked all the choices! We had breakfast and room service and there was just nothing that wasn't scrummy!!

I recently had a meal in Carries Bar with friends. Halfway through one of our party found a live caterpillar in her salad. The waitress was extremely apologetic and explained her manager would come to see us with a refund. Ten minutes later a refund was slapped on the table with "There's the refund for your food" by a very surly manager. I have visited this hotel many many times in the past and this is the first time I have ever experienced this poor standard of customer service.

I took my family to The Flames restaurant to celebrate my birthday, there were 8 of us .We ordered 2 burgers ,2 pork tenderloin , A sirloin steak , abreast of chicken ,a chicken skewers and a roast lamb . There was a bit of a wait but I do not mind that if the food is worth waiting for .All the meals were great , however I think the chips would look and taste better if they were large chunky ones , as the ones we had were just frozen chips . On to the sweets not much of a choice only 4 to choose from and a cheese and biscuits with a special as well.We ordered a lemon roulade and a blue berry and lemon tart and a cheese and biscuits. Nothing out standing there .

Family afternoon tea for seven was enough food to feed ten plus, a good selection of sandwiches although fillings could have been a bit more imaginative. Great selction of mouthwatering cakes, again so many we did not eat them all and scones with loads of clotted cream and jam. All very nice and a reasonable price, my only recommendation is that it would be nice if the staff followed up the initial service as more tea/coffe had to be sought out by us.

Was really happy with the service, the first time we have been able to have an afternoon tea as being vegan, there is not many places available. The vegan selection was not only delicious but also filling. Very happy with the amount we got for the price. Recommend for vegans to try out!

I visited this hotel for lunch for the first time in March, we sadly had a terrible experience with food and staff, but returned again to give it one more chance in May for my mother’s birthday lunch. I wish I hadn’t of bothered. Queue at the bar was 3 people deep due to a wedding party using the same bar and a severe shortage of staff. You can’t set up a tab so every time you want anything you have to pay when you order. The meals took over an hour to arrive. When they did, my mothers meal arrived a good 10 minutes before anyone else’s, so she ended up eating on her own. My sons meal came without the gravy, and he had finished before they remembered to bring it despite being asked. My nephews burger was raw and had to be sent back. It was literally just one thing after another. I’m not normally one to complain, or to leave bad reviews, but I did complain to the manger, and am leaving a poor rating. We will never return here again and it’s a real shame as the grounds are fantastic.!

We booked for 18 of us to dine in flames as a surprise 80th birthday meal for my mother. We submitted our menu choices in advance we also booked three rooms for overnight stay on 21st April 2018. The gathering was a great success despite the poor food which was served almost cold. We also felt quite rushed throughout our meal. For such a special occasion which had been notified in advance we were almost all of us let down by the food. Fortunately the assembly of all the family was a wonderful surprise.

I refer to a previous review and experience of afternoon tea written in 2016 by a similarly disappointed customer.My experience was the same.Unimaginative sandwiches,traybake cake.and stale fruit cake.Where were the fondant fancies and chocolate eclairs etc.?The scones were on a plate that had recently been in the fridge therefore they were cold and hard.

Thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic afternoon tea here. Staff are lovely and were happy to top-up our teapot for free! The scones came out warm which was an added bonus!

Went with aa large group for afternoon tea, when it was booked the hotel tried to make us hire a small room saying that they cannot guarantee how busy the bar area would be but if we needed to buy a drink we would have to go to the bar anywhere. I do not understand why a room is not given free of charge like other hotels I have been too in the area.

We came here a month ago for my wifes birthday with ten of my family , it was great so returned for another birthday . We had two chicken specials ,( chicken breast with sausage meat ) a burger and a cajan chicken. All just great ,good portions and tasty .For sweets we had two sticky toffee puddings , again lovely .

The restaurant is local to us so we tend to use as a stop-gap option if we don't wish to drive anywhere for eating out. We'd go more often but it is a hotel and prices in their restaurant would seem to reflect this. Staff are mostly very friendly and attentive to customers, they certainly make you feel valued & we've always enjoyed eating here - it's as good as any other places we visit when eating out.

Booked through Hogg Robinson corporate scheme. £80 for the mid week 1 night stay. I have stayed previously. The hotel is a nice place to stay. Plenty of relaxing spaces plus gym. Bar menu (club sandwich) was a little disappointing just served on toasted white bread. Rooms are warm and tidy although I had a plug socket that was loose and didn’t work . Standard lamp in room and main ceiling light didn’t work either. Plenty of hot water for bath and shower. Free Wi-fi . Happy to stay there again

We have only been to Flames restaurant at the Blunsdon House Hotel once before and that was for the Carvery a few years ago ( I wasn't very impressed with that meal ) . But this visit it was quite the opposite , all ten meals were excellent as were the sweets . Our waitress Lucy was also great , nothing too much trouble .The meals are not cheap but they were nice and hot and tasty , with good sized portions . We will definately be back .

We used to go to the car very a lot a few years ago but then it was changes so that you didn’t go up and choose puddings yourself but had to order.

Families came from far and wide to join in for an 80th birthday celebration. Warm welcome by the staff, ideal settings to sit and enjoy that company before our meal, then an excellent meal from the carvery with sweets for all to enjoy. Well worth a visit.

Stopped by the Blunsdon House Hotel Bar, as our youngest had a swimming lesson in the sports area at the back. Feeling peckish, I asked about a Gluten Free cake / snack, to which they answered they had some cake, though I couldn't have any as it was frozen and would take over 2 hours to defrost.

I was here for a two day conference in April. The refreshments laid on were first class, the meeting facilities excellent and the overall experience was superb.

We've had a carvery lunch here many times and the food has always been very good, the choice very good and the service prompt and friendly.

Went here 2 years prior for Easter Sunday lunch to meet family in area - was lovely, food was good and had easter decorations etc., so booked on phone for this year. Hotel nice, staff friendly and service good - the only problem was the FOOD WAS AWFUL! Veg with water in bowl, new potatoes ok, roast potatoes pepper on?...beef was hard to cut let alone chew...soggy Yorkshire...the fact that the potatoes were too hot inside belied the fact that I think the food was precooked and then warmed in microwave...the food had NO TASTE...most bizarre experience - it was not a nice tasting roast dinner - starters were ok ish, dessert was probably the best. It was Easter Sunday again but no decorations, not even a mention of easter, no eggs nothing - totally disappointing in terms of celebrating easter compared to 2 years previously. I asked if they'd been taken over - she said not a best western now for 2 months - funny cos website still leads to best western and says BW Premier - I'm confused and contacting best western - overall staff good, nice place but the food was AWFUL - I drove 2 hours for no atmosphere and awful food - not to be repeated - such a difference from last visit - what a shame.

Frequented regularly over two years ago moved counties and met up for Mother's Day lunch. Always good memories and always a good experience but a little nervous as it's changed hands and some mixed reviews. Starter buffet good quality missed the prawns, carvery missing some of the extra meals they used to put on but quality of the carvery was excellent rare roast beef was an absolute pleasure - so many places advertise it and then get all sniffy when you they don't and you complain - thanks blunsdon really enjoyed it! Desserts were good ,can you put some strong cheddar on the cheese please the mild buttery stuff was not good ! It was Mother's Day and obviously busy but they coped well we were on the two pm sitting and the coffee bar was closed by time we ate -could have kept the same service going through lunch sittings! Overall we enjoyed - still a great place to go for family lunch but watch out for the detail it will catch you out in the end. Back for a massive family lunch in June for sons 21st. Birthday we shall see

Found the restaurant very spacious,clean, airy and had a welcoming atmosphere . The staff were very helpful and all of the food was very appealing and delightful to eat .

Visited the Carvery for the first time today for lunch with friends. Good value for money lots of choice nice atmosphere and friendly staff definitely recommend.
