After a walk along the canal in Edinburgh my friend took me into one of her favourite cafes - Blueberry Hill Cafe. Now I know why she loves it!! We each had a bowl of hearty homemade soup with bread and butter, followed by cappuccinos and a homemade coconut raspberry slice. The food was delicious - the owners were hospitable and we got change from a £10 note! For both of us!! I strongly recommend this little gem - if you find yourself in the Fountainbridge / canal area of Edinburgh do seek it out on Ashley Rd. You'll be glad you did.

Huge range of home baking, plenty of savoury options too, friendly service and plenty room for families. Only wish they opened later in the day/at the weekend.

Popped into Picnics Takeaway for a quick lunch, chose their spicy chicken wrap, husband had spicy chicken on baguette. Both were stuffed with delicious chicken breast, chargrilled with spices, fresh salad, cheese, chilli sauce. Very filling, excellent value and friendly service.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the first class lunch served to us at the Wednesday Lunch Club in The Gift Tree Corstorphine. Started with a delicious Amuse Bouche. Followed with cheese and broccoli quiche. Served with baked potato and coleslaw. Pudding was a scrumptious berry crumble with custard. Together with a hot drink. Excellent value!

This is a church cafe run by volunteers. It says it is an outreach cafe and an asset to the community - but this is hardly the case when the prices are off putting and more expensive than most cafes run as businesses. A very poor cappuccino cost £3.40 and my baked potato was nearly £8. It is set up in a church hall and the volunteers are pleasant but not exactly efficient (my baked potato was left on an adjacent table until I asked where it was). All the members of our table had their food delivered at different times so some were finished before others had started (we ordered together).
