Been here several times with my friend, I decided to take my hubby for breakfast which he did enjoy But I was shocked when i paid the bill, i had been charged for tap water at £1.10, yet on the menu it says Still Water £1.10, I mentioned it to the young lady who served me that i only had tap water not bottled but it didn't make any difference, this is the 2nd time it's happened at Bluebell Cafe !! They will Not get a 3rd chance to charge me for tap water. Very disappointed customer

ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS LUNCH TODAY. The partner had a burger, mother in law the jerk chicken and then a breakfast barm and tuna baked potato for the rest of the table. All the food was cooked absolutely gorgeously. The cafe had a photographer in to take pictures of food whilst we were there, and we were even offered free food to take home. We could not love this place more. Gingerbread coffee is a must have on a rainy day!

We had driven from York to have a day out to visit Wigan Pier. On the way back we realised we needed to have something more substantial to eat than a sandwich. We stopped in Atherton and came across this cafe with a 5* Trip Advisor sticker on the window. Promising we thought. The cafe was homely and very clean. Comfortable straight back chairs, great for me as I have a bad back. No squashy sofas here! We ordered omelettes, which were fluffy and freshly cooked and arrived with salad and great tasting chips. The owner stayed late after the cafe had closed to provided puddings for us, bless him. I would thoroughly recommend this cafe. This standard of traditional home cooked food is hard to find nowadays. The prices are incredibly reasonable too.

Called in to this café as we had been recommended to try in as it is in the town centre. It seems that if you live locally, the man who owns it is friendly, but he seems to dislike people from outside his local area. We waited to order, but after 10 minutes of being ignored, we left the premises.

I visit bluebells around once every month or so and have never had a bad experience. Whether its been popping in for a quick sandwich to go or sitting in for a meal. I have two young children and the owners are always very accommodating of them, they always try to seat me nearest to the play area in the corner which makes it so pleasant for myself and the kids. I always order them something as we often go for dinner but a few times the owner has said I don't need to as long as I am eating. I still would though even if its just a crumpet or a small snack as they would pinch my food otherwise haha! I also come here with my mum about four times a year and we really treat ourselves and have a pudding which are always amazing. I think the people who own the cafe are quite straight forward with how the speak but I've never found them rude, they even wave to me and my children when we walk past. I will be continuing my visits here for a long time!

This was a lovely little cafe, since I moved to Atherton I was quite a regular. At first the owners seemed lovely and couldn't do enough for us, but over time he seemed to become very arrogant and moody like he really couldn't be bothered anymore. He gives you barely any time to consider what you want to order and looks at you like your an idiot if your unsure - he frantically pushes ideas to rush you! No one is allowed in with you if they are not having anything, including children. And when you have finished he is as good as pushing you out the door. Such a shame, lovely cafe ruined by rude owner.

On entering the cafe my intial thought is that im in for a treat.Cafe is nicely decorated in a shabby chic style.Im prepared to pay a little extra for somewhere nice.My latte arrives after 20 mins and is just warm.My scrambled eggs on a toasted 'muffin' arrives 10 mins later. The 'muffin' is a toasted barmcake and i wasnt feeling as i was having a treat it was more that the people running the cafe had made do with a barm. The scrambled eggs well, they were rubbery.I am very keen cook and anyone knows 2 seconds too long cooking scrambled eggs and they can go from creamy to rubbery rapidly. The menu is basic so for the cook to fail on scrambled eggs and muffin is shocking.I have also tried the breakfast which was okay but again the eggs were not great with a frazzled base. They say they use quality ingrediants but using quality ingrediants whilst messing up the cooking is pointless.I usually go to jigsaw and pay less than this cafe and it also better food and a 20 second walk away from here.i will stick to there in future.

I was in England to visit my best friend of 49 years and her sisters who all moved back after graduating school here in the states. We were meeting with 2 of her sisters at Bluebells for lunch and tea. One of the sisters was going to be later as she just finished work and was driving separately. Three of us went in and ordered as she had a snack at the end of her shift. We ordered and the sandwiches came as she walked in. She was asked if she was ordering and she had to think on it a minute. Well less than a minute later the owner came back and asked again if she was ordering. She said no, she wasn't hungry or thirsty. He hastily pointed to a sign stating that if she didn't order she had to leave. Well the three of us already at a table for 4 had food before us and it was a full lunch. We were struck dumb by his lack of manners and the sister was so upset she just got up and left. I had barely any time to visit with her. We were upset as well. We asked the owners wife to come talk to us and she was even more rude and loud than he was. The whole full restaurant heard her announcing that if you don't order you leave! I asked her if she planned to sit a stranger at our table with us and she told me that wasn't the point. Well we could not eat anything we were so thrown off the food by the lack of good customer service and the rudeness displayed by both owners. We said we couldn't eat the food we were so upset. She told us we could leave without paying, but not to come back. Well in no time at all the three of us stood and left. We were totally upset by he way we were treated. Our lunch time was ruined and I missed the opportunity to visit with a friend while I was there. My recommendation is to avoid this place at all cost. The food we had wasn't worth the misery it caused. An added note this was my second visit and they advertise on their Facebook page fish & chips but both times there they didn't have it to serve. My recommendation is there are numerous pubs and cafes that serve good food, avoid this one it isn't worth the time of day!

I have never had to wait longer than a few mins to receive my food order and tea or Cappuccino coffee when i have visited BlueBells. The homemade pie and chips, that i once had here was lovely, and very fresh.I also had a desert which was a carrot cake at the time and that just melted in your mouth.I wouldn't have any hesitation whatsoever in recommending Bluebells to any of my fellow Tripadvisor travellers who are looking for a very friendly cafe, which offers inexpensive meals and a fantastic service.

Strange how someone sets themselves up as a 'foodie' and slates a business. Ive been in Bluebells at least 30 times and have tasted most of its menu. The owners are dedicated to creating a beautiful little haven with delightful home made food and they have succeeded. I managed to chat with the owner a couple of times and realise what he is doing. Bluebells feels customers deserve the best, a super clean environment run well with fantastic food and they do it over and over again. They believe their cusomers deserve the highest standards. As for the door, yes it sticks, but there isnt a draft and it makes it quite oldy worldy. Ive sat in Bluebells had a lovely bite to eat and a cup of tea and watched the world go by through its quaint arched windows and not realised how much time had passed. Oh Dear..... this is not what i expected.... my choice a quick snack to eat, poached eggs on toast with a pot of tea. The menu is small and simple, typical cafe snacks with a daily specials menu with 2 or 3 items chalked on, but according to the waitress although its 12.30 the lunch specials are not available YET!!! So i order and here's what i get. First, a cold wind blowing through the cafe as the front door doesn't shut properly, everyone in here seems a little annoyed with this as if its a regular thing, the tables rock from side to side and many have cardboard wedged under one leg to try and balance them. The cafe was busy for its size about 16 customers with 5 staff, My pot of tea takes 20 minutes to arrive, and my poached eggs on toast follow 10 minutes later, the toast was ok, the eggs were very well done, completely dry even adding a little sauce can't help. I feel like i should say something, however the young waitress is trying very hard with little support from the others, i decided not to add to her misery. There's plenty of cafes etc in Atherton but unfortunately Bluebells doesn't stand out from the crowd.

Booked for a bottomless brunch as a group for a birthday we went early to put balloons on a table when we went back for the brunch we had been moved upstairs to a dark room were no one else was with no one in the bar all the entertainment was going on downstairs felt like we had just been shoved out the way they had either overbooked or accepting walk in when they were already full. After being left ignored upstairs for 20 mins we had to ask for someone to take our drinks order and we got back what you here for I didn’t no you were up here! 30 mins after our order being taken a member of our party complained the reply was we are just arranging done complimentary wine for your table (this must be the wine he had just walked in with in a Tesco carrier bag !) and none of our party even drink wine! We were all that annoyed with waiting we got our money back and went and spent it on cocktails in weatherspoons! The whole experience was a shambles and spoiled what was meant to be a birthday day out with friends. That was my first and last visit to hedera and i definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!!
