Blue Peter Pub in Derby

I took two guests there today. We were very pleased with the polite service. The elderly gentleman was looked after very well. We will call again.

On arriving we were met by the very friendly bar staff as usual. Ordered the regular sized carvery, The server did not offer any kind of welcome or any form of customer interaction. Felt unwelcome and not a good experience at all. To top it off he cut the meat so thin and the portion so small it was like a kids menu. Had to question the portion size for the price paid and he begrudgingly sliced off an other wafer thin piece of meat. Bar is great, food service dismal and I would advise you don’t eat here!

Nice hot food good variety of breakfast items nice to have breakfast pizza and fried bread shall go again soon

There have not been many years that I’ve missed going out for Christmas Day Dinner. So it’s 2023 and my neighbours who have never ate out on Christmas Day decided that this was the year to go out together. We booked a table for the four of us, but since we booked I had unfortunately broken my fibula and was in plaster up to my knee. So on the day I hobbled in with a borrowed wheeled walker and we were shown to our table. Drinks arrived quickly and the staff were superb from the time we sat down on arrival to leaving. Our starters were brought to our table and I can honestly say it was the nicest tomato soup I’ve tasted in a very long time. The carvery was superb and I’d like to thank the staff for helping me with my plate. Our desserts were brought to our table. We had crackers and a bag of Quality Street Chocolates each on our table too. If I hadn’t have been in plaster I would have stayed longer into Christmas Day afternoon. I would certainly return for Christmas Day as the food and service were all excellent …. Hats Off to all the Staff !

Visited for a carvery. Meat was dry, very! stingy amount of meat (barely 2 small slices and I'm Not a big eater. I regularly visit a sister pub (same chain in the area) and receive more meat for a SMALL carvery! Let alone a standard at a few £s more. Roast potatoes awful (sad, fat laden) left them. Gravy pot was under the heat lamps so spoon was too hot to use. No after follow up 'is meal ok' just collected plate. Won't bother again and suggest you do the same. Too interested in doing take outs for people who's paid 1/3 of what I paid so yes less than impressed!

We came here last year for Christmas lunch and was so blown away. We knew we would go this year. We did and honestly it did not disappoint. Delicious food and the nicest staff who couldn’t do more for you. They had an excellent system of taking table by table to the carvery station, to avoid massive queues. The biggest thanks again, will be returning!

We decided to come here as friends came for Christmas Dinner last year and had a good meal and we lovely Christmas day dinner today. Service was excellent, no big queue at the carvery and the food from start to finish was great. We all said we would come again.

Good food but slow service. The carvery was excellent and very filling. The place feels dated and a little dirty but the staff do clean the tables.

i ordered takeaway beef carvery for work, i'd not been for many years so thought i'd give it ago. the meal came and it was all the off cuttings of beef, not slices- it was so tough the dog wouldnt even eat it. why save all the off cuts and give it to customers having takeaway? i rang up to complain and took the whole thing back. i arrived and the chef had removed the joint of beef, all that was left on display was turkey. he was packing another box up for me when i arrived and had given me abit of everything, i thought well thats a nice gesture. i did mention if thet hadnt the beef then to have contacted me, the chef said there was beef available but that the last bit was now in the tray he was making up for me? i got to work and the turkey the chef provided was once again all the fat, and a piece of turkey bone which was sharp, the beef given to me was once again off cuts and low and behold there was a peiece of string still on the beef? it was so disgusting i threw the lot and ended up not having any teat all night. i will never return and never order from here EVER AGAIN.

Tried to book xmas dinner from August explained it was for a table if 16/18 got family coming from Australia. Tried numerous time either ringing or going in everytime the ladylady was either on holiday off or ill and no one else could take the booking not even the LANDLORD??? Eventually was told after sending my 78 year old mother in twice as I was on holiday that it was doubtful they could accommodate that many people we even said 2 tables were OK but they were reluctant to do this. The helpful advise from the landlord was " Have you tried anywhere else" So i would suggest if your thinking of booking xmas dinner here take the landlords advise and try somewhere else.

Had a takeaway carvery from here, the food was delicious and generous portions with a good variety of vegetables, one of the best carveries I've had.

Carvery was great last night. There were four of us and the beef, turkey and gammon were all cooked to perfection.

Out with friends last night. We had an excellent meal. We chose the Carvery. Everything on the Carvery looked appetising. Service was great. Staff very friendly and helpful.

I had a takeaway carvery from here and wasn't disappointed. The box was full of an assortment of vegetables, meat, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. It was still hot when delivered and tasted delicious, I will definitely be ordering again.

Went in for breakfast, they had an amazing choice of food to pick from, Katie was very polite and did everything she could to make the experience an amazing one.

Booked the Blue Peter for a family meal. All had the carvery which was delicious, especially the gammon and gravy. Kids who are usually very picky ate the lot. Friendly staff and great service. Will be going back.

I ordered a breakfast wrap with sausage today which included Blue Peter’s own homemade wrap filled with sausage, hash brown and a free range egg. The cost of this was £2.79. When the food arrived it was still warm and arrived quickly which was nice....

Such a great atmosphere and such great food at such good prices. Staff was lovely and really accommodating and always went the extra mile to help will definitely be returning as such a enjoyable pub!!!

I recently went here for what was supposed to be a lovely family meal.It was a Sunday and I really fancied the Chip Shop Platter from the menu.After ordering I was told it would be between 40 mins to an hours wait.They eventually brought me Fish and Chips which I said was the wrong order and showed them my till receipt.15 Minutes later they came back with some food on a bigger plate but it was obvious they had just scraped it onto the larger plate but it was still minus the Battered Sausage.This eventually arrived and looked like something an Egyptian Mummy had lost .On the whole a very disappointing lunch.

There are many good carveries but if you want a great carvery you won’t go far wrong with the Blue Peter. The beef is amongst the best that I have tasted and the vegetables are often changed for variety. I find I feel slightly let down by other carveries, having had this one over many years. I am astonished at how quiet this carvery is in the evenings so if you want great food wit not too much hustle and bustle and with one of the most competitive prices around, I urge you to try this place. I am sure you will return … but at the very least you will have tested my views against your own standards … Thanks for another great meal Blue Peter.

Called in as was staying away for work. While the restaurant wasn’t overly busy, the Carvery look hot and appetising. Ordered at the bar, girl who served me was very bubbly and welcoming. Food was as hot as it looked and tasted really good. Thank you and if I’m in Derby again I will definitely visit again

I would not recommend using this pub at all for food... I av just ordered a carvery for myself and kids 1 of which is type 1 diabetic and had took her insulin.... basically the food turned up my daughters came with no potatoes no veg nothing apart from meat and Yorkshire pudding and a burnt sausage... others were cold lumpy mash dried up roast potatoes and manky veg... I rung manager to explain I wasn't happy and basically told there is nothing he can do... I am a single mum and av just used my last bit of money ordering this food which I use lightly and don't get nothing else till tomoz so now I'm left with no money and no way of feeding my kids I explained this to be told again nothing he can do... I explained my daughter is diabetic and needs food or she will drop into a diabetic coma again to be told nothing he can do... how disgusting and I will be taking matters further

With my Assistance Dog, friends and I went to the Blue Peter today (16 Oct) for breakfast. Made welcome by the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, asked for a jug of water for the dog bowl which was promptly brought to us. Breakfast was great, we tried the waffles which to us were a new item. Well cooked, hot and very tasty. Thanks to the staff on duty. Best wishes.

Breakfast yesterday. We found the staff very friendly, Sophie was helpful and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was hot, well presented and plentiful. Customers did socially distance in the queue. You now make your own toast again, but hot drinks are served to you, we had a pot of tea between us so that we didn't have to keep asking for top-ups. Lovely morning out.

We have just moved in around the corner and wanted a break from unpacking boxes... What a great move! Anthoney, one of the Chef's, was the absolute highlight! Nothing too much trouble! They didn't have strecky bacon due to a supply issue but more than happy to accommodate for a swap witch we were more than happy with. There was a little bit of a wait for the food, nothing that we would normally complain at but Anthony was streight to the table before we could question advising that it wouldn't be too much longer, fantastic service that I would not have normally expected from a Chef. When the food did arrive, it was delicious, especially for the price point! I would really recommend the calamari, it was cooked beautifully! The bar team were also really welcoming and friendly, serving a fantastic and refreshing pint. Overall, a great first experience of the pub, and I can garentee we will be back! Thank you to the team that we’re working today!

A friend and I visited for breakfast this morning. All social distancing policies in place. We were impressed with how the establishment has adhered to this. Chef was polite and efficient. Katie the waitress was so helpful and polite, she is a credit to the Blue Peter. Kind, courteous and brought us drinks/toast when we requested them. We even asked for two separate receipts, which was not a problem (one cash and one card). If I had to make a small criticism it is that there is no guidance as to which door you leave from. We went to the main door and were advised otherwise. However no signs in place. Hopefully soon this wont matter. Thanks Blue Peter, you were brilliant today.

Was offered to order and pay on the app at my table being a family this seemed a bit quicker for us. Fast service food was fresh. Will be returning

We have been here allot to eat indoors. But yesterday we enjoyed the best delivered carvery we have had. Delivered to the door, Stacey explained very nicely on the phone how it worked it arrived piping hot and very generous portions. Will definitely visit again.

Popped in after work for a turkey baguette and chips. Freshly made and hot chips. Team are friendly and nothing was too much for them.

Visited The Blue Peter for the first time yesterday morning and from the get go, very happy atmosphere. Food was incredible, fairplay to the cooks, and a very big thank you to Davina who was very helpful and accomadating especially my partner and I have known to be picky customers so thank you very much Davina. Looking forward to going there for an evening meal soon.

I really fancied a carvery but my local (Bartlewood Lodge) was fully booked so we booked here instead. We were seated but no menus were brought over nor was how we ordered explained. We waited for a long time until I got up and approached the bar. A lady explained she would be right over, she was really polite and helpful. The food was “ok” my carvery was very stale and could tell it had been out for a very long time, I requested cabbage and this was missed and the Yorkshire pudding was too hard and inedible. It then took a long time to get someone’s attention to get the bill. We will not be returning.

My friend booked a table for 3 of us. 2 of us arrived together and we were met by a pleasant waitress who promptly showed us to a table for 2. We explained there would be 3 of us as per the booking so we were then taken to another table. 2 of us ordered beef and horseradish baguette which we were then told beef is not available during the week, perhaps the waitress could have told us that before. 2 turkey baguettes were then ordered. When one of us asked about having the choice of accompaniments from the carvery, the waitress said she would ask if this was permissible. Given that is what it said on the menu I should think it is! 1 of us ordered the bacon cheeseburger. The quality of the burger was very poor, tasteless but with a very strange fatty taste, reminiscent of very cheap burgers from back in the day, The waitress was very friendly and did her best and I know it must be very difficult in these bad times but perhaps the chain needs to look at the quality and consistency of the food to keep and attract custom

this is the second visit this month. the first was for breakfast. everything was over cooked apart from the beans. today i went with my son for lunch. i had the carvery while he had nachos followed by a bacon cheese burger. the nachos can with cold cheese sauce and luke warm pepperoni and sour cream and salsa. all piled up. it was so sloppy and messy and bland. nachos were cold and stale. his burger was average with a over toasted bun. other than that it was bland. my carvery. well where do i start. carrots and peas under cooked. mash potato unseasoned and lumpy. roast potatoes tasted like they were from day before. gammon overly salty even for gammon. cauliflower cheese bland. gravy tasteless and stuffing didn’t taste of anything. i don’t like dissing food but this carvery should never have been put up. i won’t be going back

Called in on spec for coffee at 11am - breakfast still being served. Julie (our waitress) was lovely - friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and filling - great value!

We love coming on a Tuesday after our toddler group,the staff get involved with the children and make us feel at home. Tuesdays wouldn't be the same without Jenny and the team.

We arrived for 9 am and the venue was quiet, but it soon filled up with customers. The breakfast was hot, delicious, well set out and very filling. Those hash browns are just so yummy !! Between us we sampled all the different items on offer and there were no complaints. As we left the lunch was being set out, this looked very tempting and we hope to visit again to sample the lunch/carvery. The lady serving at the bar was very friendly and helpful. Christmas decorations looked great too.

We had a carvery here twice and both times very nice. Good price. The place needs a bit of a clean up and a paint but dont look at the surroundings just eat your food and its fine. Would recommend.
