Called in for a coffee and a snack to take away. Bearing in mind we are still in the throes of a global pandemic... Man serves me a pleasant latte, but no gloves are worn. It’s okay, I can sanitise the lid. Hands woman assistant the plate with flapjacks on for her to bag one up for me. (Why not do it himself??). She picks up the flapjack WITH HER FINGERS (no gloves) and puts it in a paper bag. No serviette, no frills. I almost refused it, but British politeness caused me to walk away with it. Certain I wasn’t going to eat it anyway, I looked at the flapjack... there is a piece of turquoise nail varnish on top!!!! YUCK!!! 🤢. I fed it to the nearest bin.

Dinner during a weekday. Booked table for four. When we went there it was about six and we were seated in the pokey part of the restaurant...dark and we cannot see the menu as it was that dark. Food ...nothing to write about. Fish and chips...and others ordered the burgers with chicken. Usual fare for restaurants. More choices in the town centre...

Great value food and tasty coffee. Visited while travelling from Sowerby Bridge to Edinburgh. Had a flat white and a roll @ sausage.

We were here as a family, twice in one week as we were on holiday. Both times the staff were very friendly and helpful, the service was spot on and the food was very nice - couldn’t fault it. The location is great for chilling, having a few drinks and relaxing with family. We sat outside on the Monday and indoors on Thursday and it was comfortable, clean and friendly. The children enjoyed looking at the locks and seeing the canal boats. Parking was opposite the restaurant. Our food was served hot and it was well presented. There were six of us and we all ordered different dishes so it wasn’t that easy for the kitchen but it all arrived at the same time and was delicious. The staff went the extra mile for our group which we appreciated , once to give our youngest a take-away dessert as we had to leave before he had time to eat it and then later in the week, giving us some bread for the children to bait their new fishing lines. We would definitely return to The Moorings when we’re in the area.

Great staff and atmosphere sometime service especially food is a bit slow and more staff seem to be concentrating on orders on app than actual people at the bar xx

Quick lunch in the afternoon sunshine, outside seating available, dog friendly, we had the crispy bacon, chicken, and mayo toasted sandwich and even not on the menu they made us a tuna and mayo sandwich, we also had fries and tea for 2.Good choices on the menu Staff very helpful, good central location. They have a drinks licence, so you can have a cheeky drink as well.
