We were staying for one night in Whitchurch for a visit to the Bombay Sapphire Distillery, and had seen that this restaurant had good reviews. And we can see why. Really friendly welcome and service, very pleasant surroundings and absolutely delicious food. One of the best Indian meals we've had. Not greasy or fatty, fresh, full of flavour. The poppadoms and chutneys were brilliant. We had a chicken karahi which was sizzling on arrival, chicken passanda which was delicious, creamy but with a slight spice kick, and chicken haryali which was really good, with 2 beautiful garlic naan and 2 pilau rice. Washed down with cold crisp pints of cobra, came to £25 a head. If was back in Whitchurch would go back certainly. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is one of our family favourites. The staff are very friendly, the food is consistently great and served quickly. Their chicken saag is the best i’ve had! The waiter even came and gave our table some free onion bahjis to try which was so kind. This evening was my sisters 17th birthday and the owner and his son went the extra mile to sing happy birthday and suprise her with a free ferrero ice cream, so generous. Thankyou so much, really recommend this restaurant. 😋

We have so many Indian restaurants locally to choose between. So many nowadays are pretty average serving mass prepared fairly tasteless dishes….not here! Very surprised to find a really cosy, friendly restaurant. Pub like atmosphere with nice seating, seemed very clean and tidy. Service was excellent. Food..my husband loves a korma despite all the ribbing over it..this one was very good, not watery as they can be sometimes, full of flavour. The rest of us went for chicken dishes of various spice levels, not all dishes I’d come across before, all were excellent. Rices, perfect, bread really good. Starters..the garlic mushrooms are on another level,brilliant. All the food was hot and good portions we thought. Really really nice food. Staff…we chatted to the owner and his son and a great waitress, they told us about the entertainment evenings they hold there which sound great fun and excellent value. Very lovely, friendly people. We’ve picked out our best table and will definitely be retuning…certainly worth the trek out from Basingstoke.

I've run my own service company for 18 years so good service is something that I truly appreciate. The food and ambiance was great but the service was above and beyond. Super friendly without being in your face or over professional. Go visit, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Chicken in peanut sauce..... yum yum and nothing like satay chicken. The duck starter was also great. The lamb xxxx under slchef specials was magnificent and was sweet but a kick of line and heat that was nice but nt over powering. If you had to pick a fault I would say they could be confident with how hot the dishes were but as they will accommodate requests this is not a problem. Service is brilliant Thank you for a brilliant night night and nice to see classic dishes with a few I had not had before.

I had been let down by a booked dinner at the White Hart Hotel so had to search for an alternative. So, completely out of the blue, I turn up at Blue Ginger, ask for a menu and to take it away to show my wife - still sitting at the hotel and ask if I can have an immediate reservation - not expecting to be helped. Quite the reverse. The manager was more than helpful and reserved me a table for two. I rushed back to escort my wife to Blue Ginger and the excellent service began. Table laid in a jiffy, menus provided and selected wine within minutes. Our chosen starters and main courses were delivered soon after and both were delicious. I cannot fault the attention to detail, the charm and willingness to provide great customer service and our food and wine was top notch - and I am quite picky! During our stay it was quite obvious that there were many repeat customers and the phone was ringing quite a lot. So much so that it was clear that we had been very lucky to squeeze in. So, give it a go, but I recommend that you book and I doubt you will be dissatisfied by the food, drink and service.

Lovely Indian restaurant. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. All the dishes were very good apart from the butter chicken, which was odd - a lot of coconut.

We found Blue Ginger in Whitchurch through an online search. We had just arrived from Los Angeles and staying at Norton Park. Restaurant was a little hard to find in a small quiet village on a dark historic street. Luckily we didn’t give up. We were greeted immediately ordered an Indian beer (on tap) they brought us papadam with several condiments. Our chicken green curry, lamb vindaloo, Biryani rice, cauliflower and garlic naan (freshly baked) were all delicious. Vindaloo is supposed to be spicy and didn’t disappoint. The highlight however was Francis, the owner who chatted with his customers like they were family. He explained to us when he stopped by our table that over the years he has watched many of the kids grow up and they remain customers. If you are in the area please stop by Blue Ginger. Highly recommend! (Wish we had taken pictures)

Always happy to help you choose what to have if your not sure . Quick service and if a take away always ready when they say . Always enough food you don’t go hungry . Food really tasty . Wouldn’t go anywhere else for Indian .

Despite being busy they accommodated us and as always the food and service was amazing. The fact that we were remembered from nearly 5 years ago was incredible… such awesome customer service- we’ll be back. Much love from the Isle of Wight. ❤️

We had a takeaway for 5 on Saturday night. To begin with the food wasn’t hot enough. Nothing was spicy, all the curries tasted the same, so mild. We only ordered one mild chicken curry, the rest were meant to be medium to hot. The raita was pure yoghurt and not raita at all. My son had a Chicken Madras which is meant to be ‘HOT’ but it had no heat at all. Very disappointed.

My husband and I were staying in the area for the night, we went to restaurant on a Friday night with no reservation, but the owner said he could squeeze us in as they had a spare table for a couple of hours. The food was amazing, spicy and full of flavour. We both tried something we've never had before and was not disappointed, I had a lamb bhujon, which was very tender and full of flavour, my husband had a chicken rezella,very flavoursome. The staff were polite and friendly, we were told not to feel pressured in rushing our meal and drinks, the service was quick and efficient and while we were there the restaurant filled up very quickly, lucky to get in.

Myself and several friends met up here for young Ben's 21st birthday. We were all welcomed warmly, and once all seated, our orders were taken. I personally chose meat samosas for a starter, and King prawn Balti for my main course, all washed down with a pint and a half of Cobra beer. The food was very tasty,and not overpoweringly spicy either. I think we as a party all left happy with the service, the food, and the hospitality, and we will have absolutely no hesitation in booking here again Well done Blue Ginger 😃👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The atmosphere was good and the staff were really friendy. The service was quick. Unfortunately we found the food quite bland. We ordered the chicken momos and the butter chicken. Both dishes didn't have any indian flavour to them and the butter chicken was very sweet.

Wir haben uns durch die ganze vegetarische Speisekarte gegessen und alles war Spitzenklasse. Wer hätte gedacht dass wir so etwas auf dem Land finden. Es war richtiges indisches Essen, alles sehr leicht zubereitet. Es herrschte eine angenehme Stimmung. Die Kellner waren sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir können dieses Restaurant jedem empfehlen der mal an diesem kleinen Dörfchen vorbei kommt.

Stopped in this little village for a weekend break to do the Bombay Sapphire Gin Tour. Took a chance on this little Indian Restaurant and was not disappointed. Great food and excellent friendly service. Good choice of dishes for all spice pallets too.

Fantastic dining experience!! Authentic Indian cuisine; professional, friendly, & quick service; clean and recently renovated dining room…. The cuisine was exceptional: tender meats and fresh naan. I highly recommend!!

Visiting from Texas, U.S. and we were not disappointed. Blue Ginger has the best indian food we have ever had, Francis made us feel very welcome and when we were unable to find an uber or taxi to take us home he found us a ride! Amazing food & lovely staff.

Eaten here many times. No complaints, just feel that should be informed of service charge prior to ordering. Always left a generous tip, but sadly no more.

Regularly visit and never disappointed! Tried a variety of dishes and all have been fantastic, my particular favourite is the tandoori mixed grill which I would strongly recommend! Ontop of that, friendly, welcoming service, will continue to visit regularly!

We’ve been going here for a number of years. Returned again in September and it didn’t disappoint. Food is really tasty, staff are friendly and helpful. Good price too. We have also used them for takeaway and it was just as good.

We turned up at The Blue Ginger on Monday evening (August 11th) with booking in advance. After asking if we could have a table for two we were welcomed in immediately and seated straight away with no wait.The meal that we had was cooked to perfection and served so well, traditionally but 100% safely followi g all the correct guidelines.Two ice cold Kingfisher beers to accompany our meal, it couldn't have been nicer. Excellent hosts, excellent food, and also discounted with the current scheme made it even better value.We were visiting the area on a short holiday break,down from Lancashire, but will certainly go there again if we are ever near Whitchurch again.Bit too far for a nice Saturday night Indian takeaway, but that would be so nice.Thank you Blue Ginger, very enjoyable and much appreciated.

Went for a curry at the Blue Ginger on Tuesday 4th August with a friend and although my online booking didn't work out they followed all procedures to make for a reassuringly covid safe experience from the staff wearing facemasks and using their takeaway menus as single use menus. Table distance was observed and yet it still felt like a great, friendly service experience. Although the experience was very different from my last visit in 2009 the food was still as good as I remember having the chicken badami starter, the sauce for which I could have eaten a lot more of, and then the hariyali which is truly delicious. All food plentiful and very well cooked and seasoned. I can certainly recommend and would happily return!Great work team Blue Ginger!

I have just spent £60 and have to say I'm very disappointed, the 2 butter chicken were nice but the bhuna and khorai were tasteless, no spice at all in fact they both tasted the same.Chips nann and bajis were nice but the curry was just awful.

Most of these restaurants are similar in design, style and food choices - this restaurant had a few different choices and their presentation was excellent.Friendly staff - given it was a wet sunday night, nothing was too much trouble and the service excellent2 people, 2 courses and wine about £60 so not bad on that point either

We were staying locally for the night and stumbled across the Blue Ginger so paid a visit.The staff were very welcoming. The food was very nice but it was very slow to get our order taken and also for the bill to come but despite that it was a very nice evening.

Followed the many positive reviews to Blue Ginger and was not disappointed. Good selection but don't over order as portion sizes are very generous. They have a drinks license again so no wandering down to the nearby local Off License

I've eated here around four or five times in tha last six months and thought it about time I added my review. Every meal has been excellent, the manager and waiter (father and son) are very friendly and make teh effort to get to know you - especially as I more than often eat on my own (away with work). Up until recently you had to take your own alcoholic drink as they didnt have a licence but this has now been sorted so you can order alcoholic drinks on premise. Great restaurant, great food, great people cooking and serving the food, if you havent tried it and like Indian food then you have to give this place a go.

A planned visit, having had to go to Andover earlier on. As always, the most friendliness of greetings. We had the mixed platter and poppadoms for starters. Chicken Dopiaza, sag paneer, Bombay potato, mushroom Baji, lime rice and peshwari naan. With a beer and glass of red. As was the case a few weeks back, the whole experience and quality was superb. Excellent Indian restaurant brilliant service and cuisine never been disappointed when eating here. Take your own drinks as the restaurant is not licensed to sell alcohol which makes it a good value choice and the restaurant is clean and the decor is excellent.

We have had a take away from Blue ginger many times and we are not the easiest of customers. One of the party has a dairy dietary requirement. They always bend over backwards. The food is high quality and staff are lovely.

Recommended to come here by supply , excellent choice, the food is out of this world , not been to a curry house this good in years ! I would fully recommend coming here if in this neck of the woods !

A best mate was visiting, so he suggested taking my good lady and myself to this fine restaurant, which though we'd been to a few times before, my wife had not. The staff were typically friendly and the atmosphere warm and steadily busy. The poppadoms were excellent . We all had mixed starters, which were wholesame, varied and yummy. Our mains compromised of lamb Madras, chicken Shashlik and Badami chicken, with naans, mushroom and lime rice's, along with Bombay Aloe. All dishes had great portions, superbly cooked and presented. The other two had mint ice-cream to finish, with some coffees, job done. High quality, great quantity and real value for money meals, served by very attentive staff. Very good and well worth the 30 minute drive there.

A little peckish after a great afternoon at the Bombay sapphire distillery was recommended by a lovely lady at the white hart b&b; on the London road as no food served on Sunday night so booked a table for 2 online which itself was easy peasy..was greeted warmly on arrival and shown to our table the smell in the restaurant was amazing which just just triggered off excitement in your tastebuds...the food did not disappoint I just wish I'd been hungrier so was able to finish it all..will definitely be back....... it really is worth a drive from Bournemouth!!! Service was great really friendly and attentive

Had an excellent meal here at a very reasonable price without an alcohol licence keeping cost down. The food was excellent quality and plentiful I had my usual pathia and it was very good my wife’s jalfrezee certainly had a kick to it. Staff were attentive without being intrusive I would certainly recommend this restaurant if you’re ever in the area

Went in on a Saturday night as they opened at 6pm, before a concert. They were very busy with takeaways already and quoting 40 minutes delivery time but my service was fast and efficient. Food was good but could have done with a bit more spice. My Chicken Rezella was down as two chillies for guidance and was tasty but not very hot.

We had a great time, were well looked after by the staff and they were great fun too. The food is excellent and the choice is good too.

We knew that the restaurant did not serve alcohol as were told in local pub so that was not an issue.

Me and couple of mates visited Thursday 16th, we all had great food and my Chicken Jalfrezi is the nicest curry I’ve ever had. Don’t let the no drinks licence put you off as our bill was only £15 per head with starters mains etc and they put your drinks in the fridge.

Excellent menu efficient service and such tasty food. Remeber to take your own alcohol - you can purchase it from the co-op about 259yds down the road.

Very friendly staff, food excellent, superb use of spices, very tender chicken and a truly outstanding vegetarian pasanda. Beautiful onion bhajis. No license which means bringing your own drinks which is great as your own drink is cheap! Highly recommended!

Went for the first time for a birthday celebration. When we arrived there was already a birthday banner above our table which I thought was a nice touch. The food was amazing. If we wanted alcohol we could bring our own or nip to the co op which made around of drinks nice and cheap! The staff were very friendly and such a lovely atmosphere. We will certainly be going here more in the future.

Staying at a local hotel (no names mentioned) we were so disappointed to be offered the same set menu the second night running we decided to look at getting out and finding somewhere else to eat. Googled local places and blue ginger sounded a good choice. After calling them they managed to fit us in and booked a table for us. When arriving it was really busy which is always a good sign.

Visited with friends after being recommended by family so expectations were high. Good portion sizes, however sadly the food was very average. One of our curries didn’t come out with the rest, at first we thought nothing of it, however after 5 minutes or so we spotted the waiters examining the order and frantically running to the kitchen, so it we awkwardly sat with the rest of the food waiting for the forgotten curry. Rather than an apology, the staff simply acted casual to try and cover it up.

Last meal we had (takeaway) was a bit dry and not very spicy. We used to rate this restaurant very highly so hopefully it was a one off!

Had visited Bombay sapphire stayed at white hart did not realise none of the pubs served food after 4pm on a Sunday so ate at the blue ginger great food great staff alcohol not a problem as went to co op to get some.

These guys serve no alcohol so either take your own or keep to water. Food good and portion size big. Happy to recommend.

We totally love it here! The staff make us feel welcome & good above and beyond to be attentive. We come here with friends often it’s Local, Great atmosphere and food is always on point. Our son is made to feel included and they always accommodate his ‘picker’ choice. I can’t recommend this place enough! :)

Food very bland , no alcohol available. Needs a refit - tired and shabby - dead plants in windows don’t help . Had heard good things but must have gone downhill since then as will not be going back .

Booked a meal for us and friends, they phone just as we where about to leave to say they had a problem with alcohol and if we wanted some we would have to bring our own, we decided to stick to soft drinks as driving, They charged us £4.00 for a pint of coke. Ripe off.

Always try to get here for a meal when I'm in Whitchurch. Good food, good atmosphere, good service. Evidently a bit of a run-in with the Licensing Board locally as no alcohol sales - bit of a downer, but the Coop just down the way can help out.
