This was genuinely the worst 2 bits of fish I have ever had served to me. Myself and my wife had a portion each and they were most grey un-fresh looking pieces of fish I have ever seen. £9:40 with chips is a good price in this day and age but jeez it was awful. As a consolation the chips were probably an 8/10. personally I'd give it a miss.

This is quite possibly the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had I would avoid this place like the plague

Horrible, a lot of money for terrible food. Ask for something vegetarian and it wasn’t, so I was left without food. Everything was clearly cooked together because it all tasted the same, disgusting! Brought curry sauce and didn’t get it. Chips taste of bleach. Avoid, there are good places at Hemsby, don’t waste your money and don’t make yourself sick!

The fish and chips were so great. The chips taste so nice, typically seaside taste. The price is good and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Always a big queue. But served quickly had cod and chips to takeaway. Good portion of chips tasted lovely. The fish tasted good Batter was nice crispy. But the fish portion left a lot to be desired. Ordered large wether they put the wrong fish in or as it was a takeaway they put it in. But it was small. Seen small portions bigger

Just wanted an impromptu portion of chips. Told in advance it would be a 15 minute wait, no problem. Perfect chips well worth the wait.

pretty much cooked to order Traditional Fish and Chip shop, excellent fish and chips, battered sausage etc, can be a bit of a wait at busy times where they have a wireless pager system to let you know when your order is ready, Cash or Card

Arrived at Hemsby at 7.30pm for children's treat of sausage and chips. Ordered them got back to car, chips were just like congealed mashed potato stuck to wrapper qnd had to be scaped up with luckily spoons we had in the car. The battered sausages, the batter was totally so soft with how much fat had softened it. I know children are not fussy but my kids would not eat them. What a total waste of £8.40 for soggy limp sausage and congealed mashed potato chips. Never again.

Came here with my parents and 6 children between us, had haddock and it was the best I've had in a long time, fresh crispy not too greasy and good chunky meat, battered sausage went down well with the kids and cheesy chips was delicious. Great portion sizes enough chips on 1 tray for 2 8yr olds, enough for teenagers that don't stop eating and plenty for the adults if a few left over. Mushy peas perfect and quality curry sauce. Cod was good too as had 1 haddock left and this was just before closing time. Staff helpful and friendly looked to be working hard but with a smile. Only thing I'd say is we ate in and got trays which was perfect but when we had wrapped the batter stuck to the paper so trays would of been better to take away but maybe not cost effective and its a business after all. Couldn't fault it at all though thankyou for making our holiday more enjoyable with delicious food!

Lovely chip shop, friendly staff too. We have used this chip shop for a lot of years, it is always great. Thank you for a great meal again today.

Went 30 mins b4 closing time no fish ect so the next day went 1 hour b4 closing still no stuff and rude staff

There was a big queue outside so thought it must be good food, how wrong was I never had chip so under cooked and they must of had to top up the oil in there fryer after our order, under cooked and dripping in fat...

Staying at Hemsby Beach Holiday Park and was looking for a good chip shop. Saw the reviews on Tripadvisor and decided to give the Blue Dolphin a go. Ordered and lpaid for collection via their website. Food was great. Fresh, large portions and really reasonably...

Lovely food. Polite and social distancing in place and they were serving wearing masks. We don't go anywhere where masks are not worn by people serving food or drinks

Fantastic food, lovely staff, proper seaside chippy bit of a cue but im not suprised worth the wait.

We each ordered sausage and chips. The portions were gargantuan. The sausages with jumbos. It was gorgeous tasting and can only recommend this chippy highly. Thank you.

I had seen the blue dolphin on a you tube video recommending the fish and chips and decided to try them. We took them back to the lodge we were staying in and would say that the recommendation was spot on they were hot and...

Perhaps naively, I always hope that the closer a chippy is to the sea, the better it should be. This was a strange one as it had either excellent reviews or poor ones. We went as the Hemsby fish and chip was closed. We got food quickly, staff were pleasant and they were taking covid precautions seriously. That got them an extra star as the food was disappointing. Fish and chips were both greasy and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil.

We are so so lucky to have this amazing takeaway who deliver for free !!!!! The food is amazing and fresh and always delivered hot .... the cod is chunky flaky with delicious batter ....I have the chicken which is always so succulent and tasty... the chips are not greasy at all and are plentiful and the dog gets a treat with either an amazing meaty sausage or great chicken nuggets. Well done team Blue Dolphin. YOU ARE THE BEST and such a friendly caring bunch too

Caravan holiday in Hemsby. Had a few takeaway fish suppers from here. Very generous portions and friendly staff. Food was always fresh. Would highly recommend a visit.

First night in out caravan.. had to be fish and chip. This place looks goos lets try. I sused out the queuing syaten but whilst i waitied for my food saw staff from nearby arcades thin it does not apply to them and go in the out etc etc. There was quite a long wait for the food, but it was becasue it as being freshly made and had not been sat under a wrming light for ages!. The portions were quite large and tasty.So why only 4 stars? I didnt find the staff to be that engaged. it was clear they were doing a job (and doing it well) and that was it- the customer seemed to be an inconvenience> I also thoguht it was pricey for what it was... Yes i know inflated seaside prices but I still thought on the high side.

As a family we have got fish and chips at The Blue Dolphin whilst visiting Hemsby for the last 20 years and it has never let us down. During our recent visit there was 8 of us and we all agreed that it was the best we had had for a long time.

Thin fish, strange tasting greasy batter solid mushy peas bad gravy but chips were edible, disappointed, not a seaside fish and chip supper

Absolutely lovely fish and chip shop! The fish cakes are legendary in our family and a trip to Hemsby wouldnt be the same without one. The food is always fresh and tasty. True British seaside quality.

Visited recently. The cod was freshly cooked and really tasty. Good value for money too. Definitely worth a visit.

Been coming to the blue dolphin for years, always really good food and the service is second to none. We now use the order online system, really easy to use, just turn up at your time and it is ready. Hopefully they will keep doing this in the future.

Great service Friendly But most of all fabulous fish and chips plus offer delivery Ideally placed along the main beach road, parking is a pain but is worth finding somewhere to park to enjoy the freshly cooked fish and chips 😀

Traditional seaside chips, delicious! Always get plenty and they’ve made all the precautions to keep clean and Covid friendly, there is a marked queueing system and you can wait outside for orders to be cooked. Definitely recommend!

So, yes. I caught this place just as they were frying new potatoes - amazing service contactless payment and they accept orders too if you’re that far in advance with your chippy indulgences..

With covid-19, only 2 people are allowed in the shop at any one time. Service was friendly and we did not have to wait long. The chips were very nice as were the nuggets and battered sausage. Batter were nice and crispy. With covid-19, everything is behind the counter now but they will give you salt sachets and forks if asked. We had a nice lunch and would definitely buy from again. Very nice.

Lovely fish and chips pre-ordered then cooked quickly and without any fuss. Haddock was excellent and very tasty. Would definitely go again.

Really enjoyed staff pleasant and couldn’t do enough to help, felt for them as closing time and still served a few people that cane in.

I read reviews before we went, we had seen food outside b4 and didnt think it looked appetising, so havent been here at all..after reviews took a punt and tried it..fish is thin...thats a fact so not great..batter ok though..chips quite nice and considering other reviews mention good portion size..we didnt think it was that great...tbh...not the best..not the worst..just ok..times are wrong and phone no. Unobtainable so cant even ring to check if open..so very hit and miss.

Good choice available. Found it a little expensive for portion size but decent enough quality . Staff seem quite abrupt at times and not the friendliest.

A nice little bar to visit for drinks & food. The staff are all friendly & welcoming. Good choice meal menu with kids selection & snacks. A nice evening to be spent with entertainment. Also dog friendly.

We had the family meal which consisted of two very large cod and chips, 2 chicken nugget and chip children's meals 2 sides and 2 drinks all for the bargain price of £20! It was absolutely delicious will definitely be returning on our next visit!

This place use to horrible refused to eat here for ages but took a punt and tried it again , what a massive improvement the fish tasted fresh and nice batter the chips were lovely too and you get a very good size portion , I shall use again if the standards stay the same in future

We went to this takeaway and we had a very large order.The service was outstanding,all cooked to order and very quick.All the staff were so friendly and nice and the fish and chips were absolutely lovely,we all enjoyed everything,thankyou.

The only food place we found that didn’t insist in cash. Scampi Chips mushy peas and gravy . Best chips we have had for a very long time. Highly recommend this good old Seaside fish and chips takeaway/with outdoor seating. If your traveling around this area pop in and sample you won’t be disappointed.

Had food here on our last family holiday and was the best we had had all week. Clean and ample seating outside, friendly staff and would alway recommend.

Don't open on time and close whenever they want. Came out to get fish and chips and they were shut even though opening times say they should be open.

Fish was definitely not cod had to throw in the bin,very expensive for rubbish,even my dog won't eat any.

We normally get our fish n chips here , a little on expensive side but always good , and nothing left , what more can you say

Very disappointed with the attitude of some of the business owners in hemsby I was looking forward to some quality fish and chips as we’ve had from the Blue Dolphin in past years, at lunchtime my wife asked what time they would be opening in the evening but the answer she got was they didn’t know and were vague on wether the shop would be open at all so we ordered a Chinese take away when we went to collect it at around 5:30 it was annoying to find the Blue Dolphin open which was very disappointing as they clearly knew what time they would opening.

The fish and chips were really lovely and tasty and fresh, we sat outside to eat them.A little bit expensive but worth it.

Fish thin ? I wonder if some of the negative reviews have a axe to grind as there is no way the fish can be described as thin...Perfect as always n proper mushy peas.

This place is so popular queues form out the door! We got there luckily when it was quiet and really enjoyed our fish and chips!

Have eaten here a couple of times. The food is average. Fish quite thin and is not skinless. It’s the bins that put me off. Went passed on a Sunday evening and they was gross. Overflowing loads and smelly. Now they might not be owned by the chip shop and might be council. But when it’s right outside your restaurant it needs addressing. Customers must be partly to blame as if a bin is full take your rubbish to the next bin!

I have been going to hemsby since I was 8 I'm now 40 I've always got my chips from here Evan when you could sit in and eat they r by far the best fish and chips I've had it live near Peterborough and weekends we all go for a ride 3 hours for the fish and chips and a nice day out always good early or lasthe thing

Went here when down in Hemsby earlier this month, I wanted a proper fish & chips & they didn’t fail. Food was delicious, will go back when up that way 😋

The 3 of us (me, mum & dad) got some after they have recently changed over to New Potatoes. Very nice battered fish, lots of chips and police staff. Would Recommend.

Chips wasn't bad but sausage was very dry .be careful with the salt comes out very very fast. Fish cake was tasteless.

Awful the fish I had was pink inside, my daughter, definitely would not eat there again, there are alternatives there a restaurant opposite that do take aways and in the holiday park there is a posh plaice takeaway which is fine.

Cod n Haddock enjoyed twice this week, Chips inproved on last year and to find a Southern chippy that does proper Mushy Peas is a Boon.....Lol.

Clean venue ,food fresh and tasty and good value for money. The young lad serving was polite but could smile more but overall a very good meal so yes will be visiting again.

Good service but very poor cod and chips. Apparently there are good days and bad days here - clearly we had a bad one. Not returning.

"Blue Dolphin chips are the best" my twins screeched! and it is with great pleasure that i tell you in no uncertain terms that I could not agree more. In fact, you could say, I agree.

A small portion of chips was small indeed, and not very hot either. It's an adequate chippie if you're passing but there are far better fish and chip shops in the area.
