Blue Boar Bar in City of London, Westminster

Our second visit in a year for the same thing - the roast! Came here right after finishing the 21k London Half Marathon for recovery meal and drinks! The quality of all individual ingredients of the roast were amazing and even better once combined together with a big splash of bone marrow gravy... Drinks were cold and served promptly even tho it was evidently a very busy afternoon! We had a great time as a small group in super comfy chairs and hight table and will surely be back to try more things on the menu!

We stopped in this place looking for that typical London pub atmosphere (with success). Cozy, quiet and very classy place. Despite being almost under Big Ben the prices were within the usual average for the area, in addition to this the waitress was very nice, cheerful and helpful, she "dressed" this Pub perfectly in my opinion and the cocktails were all well made and quite plentiful. The bathrooms, on the other hand, are the cleanest and most elegant I have ever seen in my entire life. Try it, I don't think you will regret it

Just a short walk from St James underground station is this beautiful pub. It calls itself a pub it is more a restaurant. Service was excellent and the staff were so good and looked after us. The fish and chips were nice but the fish was placed on top of the chips which made them a bit soggy. One of our guests had the veggie toad in the hole which was very dry.

An absolutely great pub. We caught it by chance and are extremely satisfied. Super stylish old fashion furnishings with modern and really comfortable chairs, tables and armchairs. Super attentive service, great sandwiches and everything your heart desires. When you visit the toilets you are surprised at how spacious the location is at the back! Large additional rooms and halls, banquet and so on and immediately. Everything is of the finest quality and the prices are absolutely reasonable and reasonable. I found it to be cheaper than in Munich. In Munich in a location like this it costs significantly more. Absolutely recommended, close to Westminster and Westminster Abbey. Great for an afternoon stop that cost us 3 hours but it was worth it because we didn't want to get up.🤣

I went to this place pretty much every day I was in London simply because I loved their food, drinks and SERVICE. Every staffs at this Pub is professional, NOT rude at all, and very sweet ! Our server Wafa ALWAYS greeted us with a smile, she was VERY professional and polite which made our dining experiences at this Pub MUCH more enjoyable. You Should DEFINITELY try their Fish and Chips and also the Steak 🥩!! Lastly, CLEANINESS of this place is just a cherry on the top !! I 10000 % recommend this place and I will come back to this pub for sure next time I am in London !! Thanks Wafa !

Great Sunday Roast - both the Rump Roast and Pork - we loved everything that was out on our plate!

I had not experienced the magic of chef Sally Abbe at any of her previous establishments so it was interesting to note the subtle changes effected at her pub in the Conrad St James Hotel. It is not really a "pub" in the true sense as it does not have that atmosphere but what it does offer is good, friendly service at well-spaced tables in a modern brasserie style setting. The menu was short but tempting and i chose the Battered cod with chunky chips, forked peas and chip-shop curry sauce (£23.00). This last item was really the point of difference as I have not seen such a bold initiative at any other restaurant! The batter was light and very crisp, the cod moist and fresh, the chips wonderful and the sauce so good that I called for another helping - happily and quickly offered. This felt like food sacrilege to a die hard Northerner brought up on Whitby and Hartlepools finest haddock and chips with mushy peas but the curry combination was irresistible. My first visit to the Blue Boar but certainly not my last, Total bill with water and 12.5% service was £35.72 - simply great value.

Came here for the Hawkstone beer from Jeremy Clarkson. They have the Lager / IPA and Cider. Awesome beers. For all Clarkson and Beer fans this is the place to go. Very nice location!

The best pub food ever. Very friendly service, good ambience (pub feeling but top class) and excellent dishes. They prepared the venison pie without the top because I'm fresh-dairy intolerant but they also brought me a courtesy-of-the-house dairy-free potato mash which I thought was a very nice gesture.

I, with around 25 other women, descended on the Blue Boar yesterday, after an event at the House of Lords. Right from the very start, all of the staff were brilliant! They found room for us all together, even though it was already busy; they were fantastic! The choice of drinks was great; my gin-loving colleagues loved that they had several choices. Most of us just had shared portions of chips, as we wanted something to nibble, and they were delicious. It's definitely a venue I would recommend. I was using my walking stick and found things accessible enough; I don't know if there's a wheelchair entrance, or wheelchair accessible toilet, though.

I had a lovely meal there and evening with friends. For drinks I ordered a pint of soda water and lime. Two opened bottles of soda arrived with a pint glass. Total cost £9. More than a pint of Guinness. They need to tell you when they don't have soda on tap rather than ripping you off.

Overall it was decent, the fish and chips were good. They were somewhat busy, not packed by any means. Service was a bit on the slow side, manager apologized and got me a beer on the house. Part that was really strange, for a restaurant that is not cheap and offers room service for the hotel, we couldn't get a take away container for our leftovers. When we asked for a container, the server left (we thought to get the container) came back and said they don't provide those, it was just very strange. Again overall decent, but at 140 ($170 USD) for 4, it's very expensive for fish and chips. But seriously, for paying that much and not being able to take the left overs with us, what's the deal with that?! One last thing, I challenged a charge on my cc from this trip as it displayed as Hilton Hotel. I didn't pay for a Hilton stay. The charge is actually from the pub. They should tell a person how it will show when charged.

Lovely decor and setting. Food was lovely. Large group prebooked 1 table but seated in two different areas and not advised prior. Service not great - starters - staff putting dishes in front of people without saying what the dish was/asking who it was for. Mains - staff just standing holding plates for quite a while, not asking who they were for, saying what the dish is etc. we had to ask them

Great pub. Speak easy, great staff, clean, good menu and drinks.

The service is pretty haphazard- takes an age to get a drink, after reminding the wrong thing appears. Food looks good. Not one to go again.

First of all, staff here did a great job making me feel welcomed from the point we entered the door. The reception guy was quick and helpful. Thank you 👍 My family had a meal here and we enjoyed it. Personally, what I find most interesting here, is that it's like a mini museum here, with artwork like political comics on the walls, Winston Churchill figurine, Whisky corgi sculpture. Customers are seated within these art pieces and on plush sofas and cushions too, It's a lovely atmosphere.

Fantastic find - upmarket pub with great food and wonderful friendly staff. Really nice execution of fish and chips, tasty, good portion and a very reasonable price for London. Nice cocktails too!

decided to have a quick drink with my dear friend form Hong Kong. Been to Blue Boar before and still they continue to provide an outstanding service with quality products. Ramona was amazing and appreciated that 2 very close friends were catching up. service was first class. our drinks were spot on. my friend and I had an amazing night and the atmosphere was sublime. Every staff were helpful friendly and courteous. that simple smile made you feel great and welcome. well done Team Blue Boar.

Ordered the dirty burger and I don’t know what the burger was made out of but it certainly was not beef. Could not eat more than two bites. Hostess and waitress noticed that I did not eat very much and we’re genuinely concerned. I think they mistakenly gave me the veggie burger. They took it off of the bill and were very nice about it.

Food was awful. I got the dirty burger. That was not hamburger beef, the cheese was salty, not melted, yuck. The pork appetizer was fried pork lard basically. We ordered tap water. We were charged $5 for “still water”. Service slow. Would not recommend this at all. Nice decor but food, service do not match decor😢

Stopped by this place and ordered a couple of soft drinks. Didn't look at the menu when ordering as usually soft drinks are quite cheap and definitely much cheaper than alcoholic. Not quite at this place. Soft drinks like soda turned out to cost £5+ for tiny bottles of 200ml - so quite a rip-off! Not impressed by the greed of the owners.

A cosy bar that's not too packed within a hotel with walking distance from the Parliament, Westminster. Wine bottle at good price range.

Friendly service during an extremely busy December evening in the lead up to Christmas. Good choice on the menu of typical ‘pub grub’ - there were six of us and the food was all fairly good - nothing outstanding. There was live music which created a lively atmosphere but wasn’t intrusive. Will definitely return as although the food was not anything special it was good value for central London.

We visited the Blue Boar for lunch and drinks whilst on our way to Buckingham Palace. We were sat quickly at a nice table right by the window. The food was ok, my chicken club sandwich was nothing special. Drinks were good but what really stood out to us was the service. Terrell was our server and he was just awesome. In a city where service is hit and miss he really stood out. He was busy but took time to chat and laugh with us and was right there when we needed something. He made what would have been a very average experience a great one. Thank you Terrell, you made our day!

5pm and relatively busy, but still able to get a seat without issue. Service was quick and friendly. Fish pie main had plenty of fish, served piping hot. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried.

What an extraordinary surprise find - we just wanted to touch down here to get a warm drink and use the bathroom (which is so clean & gorgeous) before heading to a show in Victoria. We loved the atmosphere and the staff, so ended up having dinner. Absolutely amazing food - prepared to high standards by their chef. Best Sticky Toffee Pudding I ever had. We can’t wait to come back and are even considering to stay at the attached hotel.

Front of house person was so rude to his staff and customers if you weren't having food. Shame nice place, food looked nice but not a nice atmosphere. Bar staff seemed so nervous but friendly to customers

We made reservations in hopes of trying Sunday roast, we were put in the back corner and forgotten about. We waited 30 minutes with no server. Finally, I decided to walk to the front to find an employee to ask for a waiter. Unfortunately they weren’t serving Sunday Roast, so we ordered from their festive menu. £28 for an average quality roast turkey dish. Throughout the meal a server did not check in on us at all. We had to flag down a waiter for the cheque. This was genuinely one of my worst restaurant experiences.

The Cornish cod and chips were impressive and were the best cod and chips I've ever had. The other entrees were very good as well, for example, the Dirty Burger and Lentil shepherds pie. Unfortunately, what negated all the good was that it took forever to get our apps and even longer to receive our main courses. We arrived around 11:30 and it was not busy there. Service was just OK.

The Blue Boar was amazing! We were a party of 11 and the service we received was above top notch! When I entered in to Pub the ambience was stunning! I was greeted by Terrell with a very welcoming smile combined with his overwhelming service and ability to be so accommodating for our large party was beyond excellent! The food was heavenly, and the portions were perfect. Every part of our dinning experience was AWESOME! My next visit to London I will make the Blue Boar a must stop! A very BIG thank you to Terrell!

I must admit, I’d just waited over 15 minutes without having been acknowledged along with the table next to me at a restaurant. We’d all left and I decided to go next door! Award for best gastropub, I lucked out? The pub was about 80% full, and several tables hadn’t been cleared. Nice layout with ample bar, looking a bit sparse but in a mid century way…cozy small round tables for two and/or more and courteous staff who indicated to me that I had to wait for the maître d’ to return. This man asked me if I minded sitting at the bar but only for one minute if I could give him time to prepare a table. Of course I said yes. He was scrambling to clear and set up tables, and seemed to be the only one on the floor except for a bartender and another gentleman…busy at a computer. He seated a young family who had been waiting, and then continued to clear more tables. Several minutes later, a couple arrived and they were immediately given a table. The single white haired lady got up, and wished the maître d’ a pleasant afternoon and left. Two horrible experiences one after another. What’s happened to polite and courteous… and equitable service in London?? ..not dictated by what you think will be less revenue from a senior lady than a couple… News flash to all you maitre d’s and waitstaff who might think that way: the demographic that has the most discretionary travel income?? Single females and those over 50 start enjoying their hard earned money a bit earlier…. Every customer deserve fair and respectful treatment.

Poor value. Two small sandwiches and a bottle of water for £47. Draught beer was out of order when we visited - bottles only. Lovely French server. Restaurant manager was cold and arrogant - would be better suited to afternoon tea at the Ritz…

Pranzo di natale con la mia compagna. Cibo buono servizio con qualche pecca, abbiamo aspettato un'ora per il piatto principale. Lo staff, appreso l'errore non ce li ha fatti pagare, perciò mi sento di dare 5 stelle. Tutti possono commettere errori, l'importante è rimediare. Cibo e location ok, mi sento di consigliarlo a chi vuole godere di un'atmosfera più tranquilla rispetto al solito pub.

Tyrell is a very kind and great staff member who was attendant to the fact that there was a kids menu.

Server was pleasant but could not be more disinterested in service. Manager / host had to step in several times at our table and others to take up the slack. It took 10 minutes for an initial greeting. Then another ten minutes to receive our drinks, which we watched sitting at the bar's server station. And one of our drinks was incorrect - ordered a vodka martini with dirty rocks on the side. Came as a martini on the rocks. Server also did not know what Citron vodka was. Second drinks came after our meal was finished. Food was good, but average. Not worth pushing through the other shortcomings. Don't go.

Had the Turkey Christmas Dinner which was disappointing. Turkey was cut too thick and had a slimey texture to it. It almost looked like it hadn't been cooked enough. It had no flavour. The trimmings and Roast Potatoes were lovely though.

Great selection of food & drinks. Quiet bar like place - good place for a conversation in a busy part of town. Pricier than nearby locales, but worth it if you're looking for a quieter sit-down bar

This pub saved our lives. We were ragged from walking around London. My wife had a twisted knee and limped in. Our grandson was being 'difficult'. God only knows what we looked like. They fed and watered us and allowed us to quietly recover. Great pub.

Only stopped in for a couple of pints, but excellent spot. Great service, lovely relaxed atmosphere and a blend between pub and resturant style, which in an area that seems to be very maintenance, made a nice relaxed change!

Nice, almost somewhat classy interior. Not a classic pub - more like a hotel environment - and it is: it's a bar/pub belonging to the Conrad hotel. The food is like you would expect: pub dishes. Quality is uneven: a perfect fishn'chips enjoyed by one in the company, while one other struggled with a chewy piece of meat. Service is also uneven. At peak with many guests it could be really slow. Quite expensive. But ok, a drink and a quick bite: sure. Not for having a "dinner experience" though.

Nice atmosphere & decor, joined onto a hotel so there are lots of guests & lots of people in suits after work. The food was nice although the prices have hiked up alot since I went last, hence the urge to write a review. The staff were really slow but friendly enough.

My partner and I were in London for Remembrance Weekend. We booked The Blue Boar for Sunday lunch as we were there last year and were so impressed with the ambiance and staff. This year we were originally 3 but met up with some others and became 7. When I arrived at the desk I did explain and the man who greeted me (manager?) went out of his way to get a table for the 7 of us. He was helpful, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all helpful too. The food did not disappoint either. Will definitely visit again and would highly recommend this place.

Extremely busy even at 5:15pm but host was kind enough to find a table for us without reservations. Chicken tikka masala, cheese toastie, and sticky toffee pudding were excellent. Atmosphere is classy and lively. Would recommend.

They are still struggling with how to serve….. waiters are very friendly and food is good. But my roast was cold (waiting on roast potatoes I guess) and glasses are still coming out dirty. I’ve been coming since it opened and food is always good but they really need to get some organisation and a solid detailed floor manager.

Excellent and friendly staff. Very knowledgeable of menus. The Sunday roast was very good and portioned well. Nice espresso martini for dessert. Also sticky pudding is out of this world.
