Of the meals we had, most were ok. Unfortunately the ‘Specials’ chicken burger was special because it was a tiny mini fillet of chicken in a burger bun and £16.50 for this mini fillet and chips (which was no different to the child’s portion of chips) which was just outrageous. We didn’t complain at the time as we didn’t want to ruin our night and we were rushed for time - but basically we wouldn’t recommend the place. Our garlic bread was £4.50 for a bap with butter on and pricey for what it was. The other meals were ok, but expensive for what they were and unfortunately not hot when they came out and came out not all together. It was busy, others seemed to be enjoying themselves but for us it was disappointing.

Pizza = floppy and undercooked. Budda Bowl - greasy and weird. Smoked salmon bowl - not nice. Sorry. We really wanted to like it, we were hoping for something vaguely healthy after eating chips and burgers in various other local pubs for a week, but this was really not good food.

This spot is the one for the beach! Literally sat on the front of Porthtowan this is the place for watching the sunset (if it’s not behind the clouds!) one of the only bars that sells Cornish cider on a pump, it’s super busy so you may not get a table but a lot of people congregate on the stairs. Dog friendly inside and outside. We ate here for the first time a couple of days back, the food isn’t fancy but it’s decent. Between us we ordered a katsu fish burger which was banging, pizza, the vegan dirty fries (jackfruit instead of pulled pork) and cheesy chips which were smothered in cheese. Quite a few vegan options including the coffees!

The Blue Café, Porthtowan, (October 2020) Blue quadrangle windows, sat in silver - Waiters with one arrow in their quiver - Their eyes slip to the swelling sea, then veer - They notice you and wonder why you’re here? A hero struts toward the sea, a surfer - For the good he does they cheer this soldier - They jot your order with a graphite spear And jab the point because the sea’s so near. Who can resist the lasso of its lure? Who can resist a love that is so pure? The food is fancy fare but a tad dear They kiss each other when you disappear. P G McCormack

As standard, just a brilliant place to hang out, eat and drink. We had the Buddha Box and the Nachos to share and OMG! The Buddha Box was amazingly delish! Service was friendly but efficient and Covid guidelines work well - you order when you have a table number or you can takeaway too. The. It’s brought out to you, and it’s mostly recyclable packaging, which is good to see. It’s not cheap but THE LOCATION We walked from Porthtowan to Chapel Porth and it was tiring but brilliant, with near-empty beaches and a low tide. Very Covid compliant, we were quickly checked in to a window bay, which I can't remember ever getting before on previous visits! There was quite a lot sold out on the menu because it was close to 3pm when we got there, but we had the nachos and dirty fries to share (almost too much for two people) and both were tasty and very filling. The service is fab and the location is hard to beat. Brilliant for people watching and right on the beach, which is loved by locals and the least touristy of the beaches in this area. Well recommended by us - we will always be back every time we are down here. Incidentally, one of my close friends has family connections with the Blue Bar and Tris's surf shop, so the village has a special meaning to me! Easier to park here than in any of the neighbouring locations.

Visited several times during our weeks stay in the area, a couple of times for an evening drink and once for dinner. It was always busy prior to sunset, the location to watch the sun go down is fabulous, therefore arriving at this time getting a table can be difficult. We were originally sat in the overflow room, which is sole less, thankfully we subsequently found a table in the bar.Service was slow and had to go to the bar to get attention. Ordered nachos to start followed by two main meals. The nachos and one meal turned up together, the other meal hadn’t been ordered. Error was rectified quite quickly and the food was tasty. We were asked if we would like the bill but then waited for ages, again had to go to the bar and ask again. Staff were very Covid aware, asking for track and trace, wearing masks and cleaning down tables ( probably the best in the area) but social distancing was virtually non existent outside.

Disappointing evening all round. It was busy, as during peak holiday season. For that reason they opened up the ‘boardroom’ as overflow seating. Room was grubby , and smelt of mould. Despite Covid regulations, there was no table service for anyone seated in this room. For each order (whether food or drinks) you had to queue at the entrance to the venue, along with those waiting for a table. Virtually no social distancing there. The Blue Bar was not redeemed by its food . No problem with it being a limited menu, it is a beach bar after all, but the food was lukewarm, bread served with mussels was stale, and 2 of our party had dodgy stomachs the next day. I wouldn’t go back if you paid me.

Lovely bar and restaurant overlooking the beach; with good one way system and covid protections in place. We ordered three drinks and sat outside....What was obvious was how difficult it is to get people to distance themselves!! we luckily sat to the left side of the bar outside which wasn't as busy otherwise it would have been "uncomfortable".What I did really take objection to was a couple taking up a seating area for 6 people who "nursed" 1 small coffee between them for the full 3/4hr we were there whilst their children played on the beach!! When seating is limited people should not be so selfish.......We would have probably stayed longer and eaten or at least had another drink if we had had a table to sit at.

We spent a lot of time here over the last fortnight. We arrived on the same day they re-opened following COVID. For anyone concerned, they insist in loffing a name of your party each time you visit. There is a one way system and a controlled entry. There usually is a queue at the door, which goes down quickly. Staff wear masks, and tables are cleaned in between use. It is very well managed and you feel safe. The food is very good, particularly the dirty chips (a must have) and the nachos, but it's all good. Service is friendly and once they take your order it comes through quickly. Sometimes it takes them a while to take your order, but it is very busy and the new way working (all table service) must be strange. They sometimes need a few more staff on. Drinks are good, priced as you would expect for a tourist spot, not cheap but not silly expensive. The view is stunning. Get a window seat, some dirty chips, a pint or cornish gold and watch the sun set. There is no where better in the world. Ps dog friendly with dog ice cream which Sidney loved.

£8 for dirty chips, one handful of chips, little pulled pork & scraping of cheese. Come on we are locals, live 1 mile from this place & help keep it going in winter! Won’t be coming again. Roll on Unicorn reopening as will be going back there.

Duży wybór piw i innych alkoholi. Miła obsługa kelnerka.

I love this place. After a windy drive into the small village this place gives you a warm and inviting welcome. The staff are great and know their stuff. The food is of a high standard with an innovative menu. I would recommend the honey and mustard sausage baguette with Apple chutney and hand cut fries. There are lovely views over the cove from the tables provided. If you are lucky you may acquire a table within one of the bay windows. The Blue Bar welcomes well behaved dogs. The beach is nice.

Popped in as we do fairly regularly and had a pint of korev and a half pint of squash. I drink korev there fairly regular and unless they have put the price up massively then we paid £2.20 for squash and tap water. I wasnt really paying much attention and just handed my money over it was only once I sat down it dawned on me how much I had paid.

This is advertised as a bar with gluten free options. Being coeliac I have no choice but to eat gluten free. They advised the burger was homemade and was gf, but couldn’t confirm the chips would be as cooked in the same fryer- fair enough, this is a common occurrence. So I was offered a salad instead- again fair enough. However there was a gf bun offered with the burger- so winning!

Ohhhhhhh, to be 18 again!!! Came here on our first night and had a great meal of nachos and halloumi burgers. Good selection and lots of vegetarian or vegan options. Blue tacos with cauliflower were a revelation. Staff all young and friendly. Bit too busy for us on a Friday night but great if you're a young person. Very handy place to walk to as we stayed nearby. Lovely sunset views.

We stumbled upon this place on our walk for a lunch break. I was surprised to see so many fantastic vegan options ! Me and my partner shared the vegan loaded chips with jackfruit and vegan cheese and bbq sauce. It was a huge portion for the value paid, it tasted amazing and service was fantastic! Cannot fault the place. It’s so refreshing to find a vegan option in a beach town like that.

Family visit here for lunch, which is in a great location. The food was disappointing though, nachos not great and the kids meals were expensive for what they were. You definitely pay for the location.

Popped in with visiting family, friendly welcome with staff accommodating our group with no fuss. Everyone very happy with quality of food and portions, never felt hassled to rush. My wheat allergy dealt with properly without the usual tut's because some assume I'm on some faddy diet. Great sea views. Happy to recommend.

This building is an eye-sore really, and needs repairing and turning into something good. Maybe a pub chain, art hub, or houses for local people.

Massively overpriced lunch that did not live up to expectations. Apparently the two roasts that were had on the table were good, but the hake and mash two of us ordered that sounded delicious, was measly portioned and bland. For £27 it needs to be better. The soy butter sauce was watery and bland. The mash was oily and poorly made. The fish was cooked well but there was too little of it for that price. The barn-like dining hall wasn’t great either - last time we went (some years ago) it was still the old pub, and all the better for it. Won’t be back.

Went to watch rugby, plenty of space and good atmosphere. They did forget our food order but rectified it really quickly and we're super apologetic! Nachos for the win.
