Ordered on app wasn’t told about wait but waited anyway all the tables where dirty but short staffed with a full restaurant 2 starters and a main came out n wasn’t a sign of our chicken New Yorker id finished my food and my partner had gone up to ask about the food and the lad with the blue top said its an hour wait n he said ive waited but she’s got her food where’s mine he went in the kitchen n never come back out went up bar the after 20 mins and the manager im assuming went in and come out n let me know how long the food was going to take and give us free drinks for the wait she was lovely and the food was nice apart from that awful experience won’t be returning

Nicely decorated- people behind bar and servers are so lovely, and the food was amazing, step up from pub grub - you can tell they care about what they do. Great atmosphere as there are different parts of the pub where young and older people can feel comfortable, something for everyone.

Had a lovely visit to the pub today for the end of the season, Laura who took our orders and served us our food and drinks was amazing. She was very polite and made sure all our questions were answered. Will definitely be coming back.

Just back from meal really disappointed waited over an hr when got my steak the meal was cold my sons burger platter was dry and my daughter in las steak tasted of washing up liquid will not be returning anytime soon , could really do with better organisation

Food was nice the portions could be bigger but good value for money the only massive thing that put me off was one of the chefs was in the toilet in a cubicle having a number 2, and came straight out of cubicle and straight out of the toilets without washing his hands and headed straight back to the kitchen which was rather of putting.

Went to the blue anchor for food and drinks in the sun Danny was amazing and more than helpful, recommend the steak and ale pie and it didn’t disappoint, thank you again Danny and we’ll definitely be back

Extremely disappointing experience. We waited 35 minutes for food that was promised in 20. When it finally arrived, it was a complete letdown,burnt, cold, and barely lukewarm at best. The restaurant itself was dirty, with food scattered on the floors and tables. Service was poor; staff didn’t check on us or ask how the meal was. The worst part was the toilets—absolutely disgusting, with visible sick and filth everywhere. For a place advertised as a family pub, it was completely unacceptable. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

If I could give zero stars then that's what I would have done. Went in on Tuesday tea time.It was quite.Tables had a empty glass or two on each table that needed to be cleared.Sat at our table and my wife went and got a cloth to whipe of the the last dinning experience. Strangely enough this was a common theme with customers cleaning down there own tables and high chairs. The place was minging upon closer inspection . ordered food. And taken 25 mins to come. You would associate Hungary Horse with a large meal. Not now it should be Hungary Pony. Got large mixed grill, if you cold call it that it was shockingly small. Meat portion look like off cuts of meat and very thin at that. Steak was the size of a shoe heal and had the same consistency. Had the meal and very disappointed and tasteless. This is typical of buying in cheap and poor quality frozen food from supplier's to keep cost down.does not work as people will pay the extra for decent food. After that uneventful meal we decided to have a desert as you can not cock up a dessert.we ordered it and after 30 mins of waiting went to counter complained and get refund for deserts and left. So this will be the last time we will go to Blue Anchor. Pop very the past times we have noticed a decline in the place. The place is dirty .If you don't believe me have a good look around.carpets could do with a clean.The cleaners need sacking as I seen stale dried old food in the corners between carpets and walls.tables and menus sticky ,now that speaks volumes and has potential for food poisoning if you don't wash you hands before you eat.Knives and forks dirty. Then the food was of poor quality and service shocking. Shame really as this place was a great place to eat. People vote with there feet,so we are off never to return.

My Mum, sister and I where visiting family and needed to book for 23 people. We originally booked at the Packet Steamer and even sent an email with a pre-ordered list to help the kitchen. The Packet Steamer unfortunately cancelled the booking last minute. We contacted the Blue Anchor and booked in with them instead. They took the booking and we emailed them the list of meals (same menu so that helped). When we arrived, we have been given our own private area of the pub. Which helped with keeping the little ones contained and entertained too. All the meals came out as ordered and in good time so that no-one was waiting. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and we had a lovely time together. Thank you for accommodating us but for also making it a seamless and enjoyable evening spent with our family.

Visited today with family food really very poor. Run out of basic items on menu. Took ages to arrive and looked and tasted awful. Sign went up on bar that kitchen closed due to unforseen circumstances???? Non of us enjoyed our food and left most of it on our plates. Need to sort this out or will lose custom.

Me and my family came for a lovely Sunday roast last weekend and we were greeted with a smile and a very friendly waitress Daisy. She recommended we have the roast beef so we did and it was delicious. Would recommend the food and definitely the waitress.

Following a nearly 30-minute wait for our food, the only positive aspect of this visit was our server's diligent efforts. Increased staffing is evidently required. Pub itself was quiet. Tuesday afternoon At 2:30 PM, the bartender provided unsatisfactory service, neglecting our presence at the bar for over five minutes while preparing coffee. A concise "I will be with you momentarily" would have been sufficient. The subsequent wait for the meal was considerable. The food quality was acceptable and served hot, which is commendable. However, apparent understaffing significantly impacted the level of service providedFurthermore, the cheesecake I ordered failed to arrive.

Booked our Christmas meal this year at the blue anchor and couldn’t fault it. Food was spot on and service was outstanding. Big thank you to Lee, Charlie, Callum and the rest of the team for such a lovely Christmas Day. We will 100% be booking again next year.

We have recently moved into the area and decided to visit our new local this weekend and were all thoroughly impressed! Friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the place was spotless and the food and service was some of the best we’ve experienced in these chain type of pubs. They have lots of amazing deals throughout the week and we will definitely make a habit of visiting regularly to make the most of them, today we had the super special menu for £11 which was excellent value and generous portions for the price! Highly recommend the jerk chicken and the flatbread. Children’s play area is a great addition however out of service on our visit today, hopefully our little ones can make the most of this next time we visit.

Brilliant service from Danny from behind the bar. Called in for lunch, and he went above and beyond for myself and my daughter. Nothing was too much to ask for, would like to come back again soon, as he made us feel at home.

Nice New burgers on Menu.Quite quiet. Only two staff on duty doing everything. Waited to be served about 5 minutes in empty pub. The meal drinks were OK. However from the moment I stepped into the pub, and especially at the bar or ordering food bar, there was a horrendous smell of urine coming from the toilets. Emanating through the bar on the draft. It was disgusting. This is not the first time I could smell the odour from the toilets in the pub I truly believe its no fault of the staff. The mens toilets are outdated and in need of revamp. Get it sorted or you will continue to lose customers.

ZERO STAR'S FOR MANAGEMENT AND STAFF ATTITUDES. I would highly advise no one books Christmas Dinner or any meals.at this abysmal staffed place. Christmas booked dinner for 3 at £180 was supposed to include an Orange Juice or Prosceco after asking multiple times we along with a lot of other customers never received any at all, how that works I don't know as I always thought if you've paid for something then they are legally required to give you what you paid for. On arrival also went to order Latte or Tea and Drinks at Bar only to be told we don't have Latte or Tea, so forced to order Alcoholic Drinks as that's all they had available no Hot Drinks. Just when you thought it couldn't possibly get any worse, after feeling really ill after eating the Starter we politely asked if we could have a take out box/container or something so we could take home our paid for in advance MainCourse. The answer was an abrupt "NO" . So it seems they don't serve Hot Drinks they don't serve you the Presceco or Orange and if you find you can't eat your paid for food because your ill it has to be thrown in the Bin. This place is the worst I have ever been to in the whole of the UK 🇬🇧. Definitely avoid avoid avoid. There are thousands of far nicer place's to go out too in and around Liverpool and Merseyside. So sad really 😞 😢 as it seems to be a reasonably nice place from outside 😢. Well done for totally ruining Christmas 🎄 Give yourselves a Thumbs down. Thumbs 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎

We visited The Blue Anchor for Christmas dinner and were disappointed with the experience. We never received our welcome drinks, even after reminding the staff multiple times. My parents have small appetites and couldn’t finish their meals, leaving most of the food untouched. When we requested takeout boxes to bring the leftovers home, we were told it was against their policy, meaning we couldn’t take our prepaid food with us. As a result, we ended up wasting most of the meal, and £180 for three people essentially went to waste.

Pleasant experience from start to finish. Efficient ordering, speedy delivery of food, order as requested. Polite and cheerful staff.

Came for family meal, and spent the evening in the bar. Service by Hailey and Charley was 100%. Hailey was brilliant with my order, mixing well with my children and is generally a good worker. I was surprised to find out she was general staff, no management role. Cal also done well managing the full bar & including food tills. Needs an update in estetics & toilets are like portable toilets. Horrid. Not a bad pub

Came in on Wednesday the 23rd of October and received incredible service from Danny he was so helpful in recommending from the menu and always had a smile on his face great place to go will be again soon.

We went in for lunch today. It ordered off the lunch time menu and the kids meal deal. Food was well cooked and about right portion size for a lunchtime light bite. Kids meal deal was a good size and quality. Staff are very friendly and wasn’t a long wait time. Thumbs up to Dan and Laura on the staff
