Blue Anchor in Sefton

Most friendly place I have encountered since been away from home. Food and drink and service were outstanding will call again if ever in the area.

I do like it here but the place is in need of a spruce up. Plus, the tables are always sticky! Nevertheless, the food is good and staff are nice.

First visit. And sadly the last …strong smell of urine through the pub …..man’s toilets too blame ….food was absolutely dire …ordered 2 ultimate mixed grills ….plates smelt and the food tasted awful ….asked the waitress too box the meat up …the dogs were happy. If nobody else …staff were nice and friendly

We went to today and half are party waited over 1 hour and the other half over 1 hour 30 mins. We went to celebrate a birthday and we were all very disappointed. Surely when ordering we should have been told we'd be waiting over an hour before our meals would arrive. 2 meals barely touched and even though my own meal was ok after waiting 90mins+ I couldn't say it was enjoyable.

Me and my partner went for lunch here on Monday, Food was lovely, staff were so friendly and very helpful, lovely atmosphere Will definitely be going back 10/10 spot on

Not bad plates were full so value for money cooked right but went cold rather quick plates need walming up.

Korean chicken burger advert outside for 5 quid is actually a tenna and the Moretti Shandy was £5.25! I'm sure there are cheaper options on the menu but it's not clearly displayed. What gets my gripe is the chicken is reconstituted not even real chicken, felt like I was eating a sponge from the sink.

Fantastic, from the moment we walked in one word wow! That gravy one burger truly scrumptious , absolute artist who developed that piece of cooking, would recommend great service from the staff felt really welcome and apparently under new management too, well done all keep up the good work 👏

We love coming here for lunch. Service is great and Paige and Danny always make us feel welcome. We haven’t been much recently as it’s in desperate need of a renovation, but still 5 stars as this isn’t the fault of the staff who always go above and beyond!

Came for lunch. Food came out quick and was served by Paige who was lovely, attentive and was happy to help.

Terrible service, just under new management to a table booked for 12 people, 1 chef and 1 bar staff on with no information about menu being available as limited selection due to only having 1 chef in the kitchen with a long wait time. When we made the booking earlier this week, nothing was mentioned about this, and throughout the entire day no information passed along about a reduced menu due to lacking staff and supplies as food not available with little explanation, overall very disappointed with this experience as it is usually a fantastic pub with good price and menu.

£57 per head on Christmas day food was awful 😖.12 of us .

Would like to thank all the hard working staff who made my family's Christmas day a really enjoyable experience. Went for Christmas dinner and the food was really nice and portions were spot on.

We decided after awful year we would eat out & treat ourselves this year. So wrong to go to this restaurant. Greeted by manager to table. Was left for hour so I asked bar staff twice. Was we getting starters off our pre order they was checking so we sat back for more time then to be told by manager she's sorry didn't check us in. But what really upset me and my family we still wasn't left Happy. Further hour for our main meals and my child complained the stalk of cauliflower was too Hard to cut through. Tbh it was dreadful for a child's plate. We wauted another half hour or more we wasn't bothered we lost money to then walk out before desserts as my little one was getting restless. Money completely wasted and a very poor standards to meal and I can't believe it took me 3 staff then manager and still walked out unhappy. Never again. Sorry!

I thought the pub was excellent, it was very clean, it had a welcoming atmosphere, the staff were very attentive, and friendly, the food was delicious and prices were very reasonable, I will certainly go there again and would recommend it.

Awful just awful Waited 40 mins for food, only 2/3 dishes arrived. Then waited 4mins for cutlery. Still didn’t get 3rd meal before we left without eating! No staff to speak to, no light in disabled toilet. Avoid avoid!

Came on Saturday for lunch. It was nice an quiet as still fairly early. Staff were lovely and food was delicious. Few little niggly issues, like no hot drinks as machine broken, egg yolk was hard on breakfast and the blue light discount didn’t work at the till. Didn’t stop us enjoying our food though. Everything was hot and well presented. Will certainly come again.

We went to here on wed 25 oct and again 27. The food was excellent on both occasions. The service by a guy named paul, so helpfull. Our new meal venu e once a week from now on.

We attend this pub/restaurant regularly and in the past have found it acceptable but last time we were disappointed as it was not up to its usual standard. The place was untidy with used plates on tables, the cutlery was not wrapped and the food was barely warm also the plates were not hot. We overlooked that occasion but my friend was there since and said things had not improved so we will be seriously considering going elsewhere next time. There are 10 adults and 2 children in our group.

On first entering the restaurant we was greeted by Paul Weaver. From beginning to end he gave us a world class customer service. Nothing was any trouble and checked everything was ok. He truly was a top class server and due to this I would happily go back. 5 Star for Paul Weaver

Tried the blue anchor today for a breakfast as not been before, cannot believe the size and quality of the food for the price, brilliant, will definitely be going again. Sam who was looking after us couldnt have done any more, excellent service would highly recommend.

Food is always amazing, great,fast service. Kids enjoy eating here! Didn't realise the football was on, so the shouting wasn't great for the younger ones who get a bit scared but otherwise was a perfect meal out :)

Ordered a steak grill burger and wings while my missys got the fat chicken sandwich mine was okay me girls was brill, also got a pitcher of pina colada was amazing and cheaper than spoons and the thursdays they have free pudding along specials so in the end we were so fed i recommend

Came in with my boyfriend yesterday, 1st time we been here we normally got to a different hungry horse but after a few bad visits we decided to change and I was glad we did, we had 3 basket of wings and fingers to share 2 plain ones with peri peri sauce and the wings coated with sauce was coated with just the right amount , mains we had a katsu curry platter and a burger combo cooked to medium rare my boyfriend enjoyed his combo, I had the katsu platter again not to moan was lovly, and the homer donut omg wow so fresh over all the place was clean and tidy staff where well attentive and the food was well cooked the music in the background was at a decent level could of done with better music but that my taste over all a fantastic visit and be looking forward to be returning soon

Stay away, carry on driving to weatherspoons. If I could turn back time, I'd of gone somewhere else. Waited nearly half hour for our food, to which when it arrived, my waffles were dryer than a heat wave, the only thing that was fresh was the egg and even he wanted to go back to being in an egg. My fiance had a full English which was over done, bacon had clearly been sat under a light for a good nearly half hour. My partner originally wanted a yoghurt smoothie thing which was was told they didn't have any in. I wanted banana with my waffles but I was told they didn't have any in. Please stock up for a weekend, it's going to be your busiest period. Staff manager, seemed to care more about finding the right TV channel than anything else. It seems though he was the only server on duty, so I'd suggest 1 or 2 extra staff in the mornings. We've been a few times and it's just getting worse as time goes on. We'll be going elsewhere in future and won't be returning.

I came on 21st and was greeted my a lovely member of staff he was a tall gentleman wearing glass think he said his name was Paul myself and my husband and 3 kids came for our tea it’s the very first time we have...

Nobody greeted us when we walked in had to go and find somebody to get a table, we’d already booked but wasn’t sure what to do as nobody was around. sat us at a dirty table to then be confronted by two men telling us and the server they where sitting there and that was all there food. Bear in mind the pub had loads of empty tables. Ordered drinks and food waited a good twenty minutes for two drinks and over an HOUR for our food whilst watching the people that had arrived after us be served there food first. My fiancés “Jerk” chicken was dry as anything with absolutely no sauce. You could tell it wasn’t freshly cooked. Absolute cheek to call it jerk chicken. My battered halloumi was so wet and soggy. Had to slip the halloumi out of its soggy batter to actually eat it and that was tasteless too. Coleslaw had absolutely no flavour either. So disappointing.

Went for new meal ' Mexican pasta salad' , wow, excellent ( just watch out for the chillies). 2 meals for 11.49 , hard to believe. 👍

The staff were very helpful and really made us feel welcome , but there was no ice in the pub and no hand pulled beer. When we received our food, one plate had cold chips and one had a sausage missing. This was quickly sorted by the staff. The pub itself is starting to feel a bit rundown but it is still a good place for a cheap meal

We turned up 9 of us famished after a full day at Chester Zoo, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The menu was so varied and reasonable, all requests were met and with a smile! So unusual and there was a quiz on too...

Had to put 1 star because it doesn't offer a minus. Too busy for the staff to handle and drink measurements seem to be different to each member of staff. Got two pitchers and the second was completely different from the first. One shot of each alcoholic item was in the second pitcher so it just tasted like lemonade. Wouldn't go there again.

Came here for a meal with family last Thursday. Food was really nice and staff are always friendly and welcoming. Really enjoyed the Horseshoe Homer doughnut which is new on the menu. We will be back.

Pint was lovely, food was great especially the new menu dishes. The Gravy burger is fabulous! So is the Katsu special- the salt and pepper seasoning is gorgeous. You want to see the Homer doughnut, it's massive but the torte with ice cream tastes like a frappacino. Service was superb with all the staff being lovely and happy to help. Will definitely be back!

Food was cold and waited ages because they are extremely understaffed. Manager was nasty behind the bar and didn’t give a nice atmosphere at all, it made me not want to order anything at the bar. The only server that was working looked extremely stressed out and was having to serve multiple tables at once. Definitely won’t be going again because i shouldn’t have to wait that long for food.

I had a lovely waitress but they all seemed very overworked and I didn’t see very many different servers around the restaurant floor so I’d say it was quite understaffed which lead to delays in service. I’d put that blame for this issue on management and not the workers themselves as they were lovely they just seemed overworked and it seemed understaffed. The manager served me drinks at the bar but was very hostile unlike the servers which also lead me to believe that the issues were due to management.

Food and service by servers was good, who I assume to be the manager was not very friendly and was openly quite cruel and dismissive to employees to the point of making one of them cry on shift, way too much pressure was on, especially considering some of the employees seem quite young.

Everything seemed to be deep fried or microwaved definitely gone down hill from the last time we went won't be going back for food Could do with a revamp aswel

Can never fault the food here but its hard work getting a table cleaned or cleared even when its not busy some of the staff just look like they cba we cleaned it ourself after asking twice not the end of the world i know as the food really is good there

Booked for a Father’s Day breakfast which when I arrived for 10am the time of my booking it was closed, I then tried to ring the restaurant where I got no answer until about 7 calls later to be told they open at 11am as they only had 2 chefs on. Now i have tried calling numerous times to get a refund back to which they don’t answer the phones.

We booked a table for fathers day, which was there for us (a booth) i ordered fish chips and peas to be told they had none left... he then went on to say but we do have the fish supper to which i was confused as its the same as what i firstly ordered only with the added scampi, bread and butter and tartar sauce, i agreed to the fish supper it arrived at our table with no bread and butter or tartar sauce. I didn't complain as we where having a family catch up and it was for an occasion father's day. This is not the first time this has happened. You should get what you ordered and paid for as far as I'm aware. Obviously not!!

Quiet pub most of the time, very underrated restaurant in Liverpool. Loved it here, staff are amazing and always come by to see if your enjoying your meal

Offer announced on the blue anchor website for 2 main meals and 2 kids meals for £15, however when we got their offer wasn’t on. What a joke. Meals weren’t hot, got one of them changed, but service not great. Whole place needs a complete refurb not surprised it wasn’t busy.
