Value for money good and staff lovely but food wasn’t as nice this week

Nice New burgers on Menu.Quite quiet. Only two staff on duty doing everything. Waited to be served about 5 minutes in empty pub. The meal drinks were OK. However from the moment I stepped into the pub, and especially at the bar or ordering food bar, there was a horrendous smell of urine coming from the toilets. Emanating through the bar on the draft. It was disgusting. This is not the first time I could smell the odour from the toilets in the pub I truly believe its no fault of the staff. The mens toilets are outdated and in need of revamp. Get it sorted or you will continue to lose customers.

ZERO STAR'S FOR MANAGEMENT AND STAFF ATTITUDES. I would highly advise no one books Christmas Dinner or any meals.at this abysmal staffed place. Christmas booked dinner for 3 at £180 was supposed to include an Orange Juice or Prosceco after asking multiple times we along with a lot of other customers never received any at all, how that works I don't know as I always thought if you've paid for something then they are legally required to give you what you paid for. On arrival also went to order Latte or Tea and Drinks at Bar only to be told we don't have Latte or Tea, so forced to order Alcoholic Drinks as that's all they had available no Hot Drinks. Just when you thought it couldn't possibly get any worse, after feeling really ill after eating the Starter we politely asked if we could have a take out box/container or something so we could take home our paid for in advance MainCourse. The answer was an abrupt "NO" . So it seems they don't serve Hot Drinks they don't serve you the Presceco or Orange and if you find you can't eat your paid for food because your ill it has to be thrown in the Bin. This place is the worst I have ever been to in the whole of the UK 🇬🇧. Definitely avoid avoid avoid. There are thousands of far nicer place's to go out too in and around Liverpool and Merseyside. So sad really 😞 😢 as it seems to be a reasonably nice place from outside 😢. Well done for totally ruining Christmas 🎄 Give yourselves a Thumbs down. Thumbs 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎

Booked our Christmas meal this year at the blue anchor and couldn’t fault it. Food was spot on and service was outstanding. Big thank you to Lee, Charlie, Callum and the rest of the team for such a lovely Christmas Day. We will 100% be booking again next year.

We visited The Blue Anchor for Christmas dinner and were disappointed with the experience. We never received our welcome drinks, even after reminding the staff multiple times. My parents have small appetites and couldn’t finish their meals, leaving most of the food untouched. When we requested takeout boxes to bring the leftovers home, we were told it was against their policy, meaning we couldn’t take our prepaid food with us. As a result, we ended up wasting most of the meal, and £180 for three people essentially went to waste.

Pleasant experience from start to finish. Efficient ordering, speedy delivery of food, order as requested. Polite and cheerful staff.

Came here with family. Awesome, the team is very helpful. I will be back again next week. The food is great, especially for the price

Came for family meal, and spent the evening in the bar. Service by Hailey and Charley was 100%. Hailey was brilliant with my order, mixing well with my children and is generally a good worker. I was surprised to find out she was general staff, no management role. Cal also done well managing the full bar & including food tills. Needs an update in estetics & toilets are like portable toilets. Horrid. Not a bad pub

Came in on Wednesday the 23rd of October and received incredible service from Danny he was so helpful in recommending from the menu and always had a smile on his face great place to go will be again soon.

We went in for lunch today. It ordered off the lunch time menu and the kids meal deal. Food was well cooked and about right portion size for a lunchtime light bite. Kids meal deal was a good size and quality. Staff are very friendly and wasn’t a long wait time. Thumbs up to Dan and Laura on the staff

Nice relaxed environment with great food and a good range of drinks. Looks like the place has recently had a light spruce up too which is nice. Plenty of TV's for sports etc. and lots of space around the place to find a quiet corner or for larger tables for bigger families. Lovely location in Aintree Village too.

Nice place friendly staff. The manager Lee who was on shift today was friendly took our order and laura and Hayley was friendly asked if everything was ok made sure we were looked after. Food was nice. Well recommend will be back thank you. Thank you to all the staff.

Quick visit as I was working and just passing by so I didn’t have long, but I was served very quickly by friendly staff which is always nice to see and the food was great couldn’t fault it.

Danny and Hayley are world class in terms of hospitality and are very friendly. They always treat customers like vips and remember peoples names and genuinely care which is outstanding! They go above and beyond to look after all customers thank you

We held my Father-in-Law’s wake at the Blue Anchor, reserving an area and ordering various sharing plates and snacks. Danny’s level of kindness and understanding was outstanding and so much appreciated. He went over and above to ensure everything was perfect for us. The food was great, the service was great and we couldn’t have given our Barry a better send off with out Danny and team. Thank you so much Charlotte, Andrew, Bev and family.

food was awfull i had full english everything was cold the toast was dry didnt get butter with it all the meat on mine and the plates of everyone with me was dry and chewy . The drinks tasted flat and like the pipes hadnt been cleaned . The table was sticky so hadnt been cleaned properly overall it was a terrible experience

the meal I got the full monty grill meats all where dry and chewy no flavor all luke warm peas where cold as if they had came out of a tin chips where warm sausages tasted like they had been re heatedegg was not runny and just abut warm. to add insult to injury the coke was flat and it tasted like the lines have not been cleaned. so disapointed in this place will never go again

I’ve had numerous fab experiences here over the years. Lovely service from the bar staff who are always helpful and friendly. Can’t complain about the food as it’s exactly what you look for in a good pub meal! Definitely a family friendly environment and everyone felt welcome.

Really friendly staff who made us and the dog very welcome. Shame we couldn't eat outside. Presumably due to being short staffed ? Happy to use a buzzer system and collect food from bar when their busy if that means we can eat outside on a nice day.

Great local pub we both had food and drink

Went there with family of 11 sat there for a hour even though pub wasn’t busy waiting for food when it arrived it was overcooked & dried up, no happy staff, tables not cleared or wiped, outside area rundown. Took 20mins to be served with a drink. This pub needs a complete overhaul inclusive of staff.

Staff were amazing, really friendly and attentive Quick service and checked in that everything was okay. Starters and mains were lovely, katsu banquet was quite poor though, chicken nuggets and chips really - bit of chilli onion and pepper would have been nice with chicken chunks instead of nuggets, felt more like a big kiddy meal.

This pub is always offering a brill evening adventure out with a wide selection to choose from off both adult and childrens menus. The outside area is big enough however it does need an update as the wood (some of) isnt actually secure anymore on the play area. The decore also needs an uplift as its been the same for around 15+ years inside the pub. The biggest let down is the fact they used to provide live bands & djs years ago however these are not provided anymore and havnt done for a fair good while now. All the staff at this pub however are excellent and always happy to help where and when needed. Cal behind the bar has got a cheeky smile 100% of the time and Ella spent her time from the bar to serving our food! Very helpful and hard working staff. The new undermanager runs around like its his own business! Very pleasent and hard working individual and seems to get things done before its even arose. Brilliant.

Lovely trip to the blue anchor today, food was hot and fresh. Staff couldn’t do more to help, hats off to Danny for going above and beyond and making our experience extra special.

Recently visited this pub. Excellent service & friendly staff. The chicken wings I had were exceptional, my husband had the Quesadilla’s which were delicious. Would highly recommend visiting this establishment it has something for everyone.

Greeted with a warm welcome from Adam & Andrew. Great fast service. New lamb kofta wraps are delicious! Definitely call again.

We decided to have a meal here, mainly due to the play area. The outside looks tired but my little girl liked the play area so happy with that. When we came in the pub it wasn't hugely busy. It took us a couple of tries to find a table that wasn't either wobbly or sticky. We ordered our food through the app, where we found lots of options were out of stock. We ordered the super specials as they are on offer for £10 on a Saturday. My order of Lamb Keema Stack came out looking like it had been dumped on a plate from a great height. The samosas were dry and crushed up with a few chips, soggy crushed poppadoms and dumped with what looked like mince and peas. My picture is how it arrived at the table. The texture of the soggy chips and poppadoms was really off putting. The other two meals were fine, burgers and nuggets hard to get wrong. The service was ok at this point. We ordered deserts, it took 45 minutes for them to come out after asking staff twice where they were. They also came out separately, far apart enough that each was finished before the next came out. The toilets smelt mouldy and the hand drier did not work. The whole pub could do with an update- it could be amazing again, just looks so rundown now. Service was ok and play area is an asset in residential area for a pub but let down by kitchen and food. Other hungry horse food is much better than this one, suggesting it is a kitchen fault rather than menu/supplier. It's a shame as we would visit often with the play area being there but after this visit we won't return.

Ordered on the app and had to chase drink 3 times for nearly 40 minutes. Not busy either. Food arrived. Microwaved sea base which was sloppy, instant mash and half cooked veg which was going off

Further to my review on trip advisor and the response from Geene king. I did speak with the manager who said we would receive a £30 voucher. As we should of been told that it had horseradish sauce on the wrap. On re checking menu it does not state this. If that was the case then surely the roast potatoes should of been wrapped to.

I want to take this matter further. who do I speak to for being charged for food that he said had been taken off when ordering to getting cold food and getting meals 20 minutes apart. we had people who had finished their meals while others was waiting. It didn't matter how many times got up to ask it just wasn't coming to us. £150+ spent here for 9 people and wish I had gone anywhere else. Was a great pub back in the day no a joke. Tables not clean no staff to greet or show to table just find it yourself when it was reserved so had to look for a piece of paper with our name on. Even when recieved food items was actually missing from it. I would give 0 stars and would not recommend this place I will instead actively tell people to avoid this place. I want this escalated to hungry horse or top managment because what I have witnessed today has literally been criminal.

Booked in advance, no table was assigned to us, we waited over an hour for our drinks and food, mind you we got food before the drinks, staff where terrible and rude no care in hospitality at all, only joy was my kids enjoyed the play area, to top off the rating, benches left in the car park and i as a result scratched my car, severely gone down hill over the years

Family of 10 went for father's day, 4 ordered the roast beef Yorkshire wrap. When the first wrap arrived my sister cut into it and ate some to find it was smothered inside with horseradish sauce which she doesn't like. The waiter came back over and we asked if that's how it's meant to come as it's not described like that in the menu, he said he would ask the chef. The waiter returned and said the Chef told him that's how it is, he didn't offer any alternative or help and put the other 3 wraps down and walked off. We didn't receive a check back which is probably because he knew we would have complained and about 70% of the wraps were left. The service from the waiter was shocking and we won't be coming to this pub again.

Had a reservation for 11:30am for Father’s Day. Came in and had to wait 20 minutes just to speak to someone to be seen to a table. When we sat down, the table was sticky and there was a dog in the seating area. Which was barking and sniffing round other tables. Then when we ordered, half the stuff we wanted, wasn’t even available due to the restaurant “not having it in”. When we decided what we wanted, we had to wait 45 minutes to an hour just for a lack luster burger that was COLD and a pie that was also cold, not to mention the gravy that came with the pie looked like chocolate syrup that you put on ice cream. The staff were ignorant and rude, asked for a refund and only got 75% of our money back. DO NOT COME HERE. Not worth the suffering

First time here we went here to celebrate fathers day with the family my partner ordered the roast dinner and it was like it was a frozen meal which was warmed up in the microwave absolutely disgusting another issue was I ordered the mixed grill and paid for the pepper corn sauce it didn't come with the food I did tell a member of staff who said they would bring it but it never did get brought over to me

Sticky tables a lot of items on menu not available and I had an all day breakfast tuff sausage hard fried egg bacon cold and full of fat had too ask for butter for under cooked toast
