Our breakfast was absolutely perfect. Everything was delicious and the service was great. My duvet and I had the full breakfast and my son/husband had the sandwich.

Not given time to look at menu fully, felt rushed to choose something. Expensive for the quality of food served. Decor not great, all chair seats torn. Was busy on arrival which I usually see as a good sign but was very disappointed. Staff pleasant though.

We decided to wander around Newmarket, pop to the pub and to choose the BLD Restaurant and Café in The Rookery Centre for late lunch. Tables were spotlessly clean, and done so between different customers, service was friendly, polite and swift and the food/drinks really very nice indeed. Filled baguette, scrambled eggs on toast, Club Sandwich & chips, tea and coffees followed by wedges of gorgeous cake and cheesecake with more drinks. The menu caters for varied tastes and appetites and is defo great value for money... we'll be going back without a doubt. Thanks to all the staff at this deservedly popular café.

We go to BLD at least once a week for a meal.Quality of food is excellent and staff most helpful and friendly.

Place is basic, place is not really appealing inside, holes in chair covers, food is basic and low grade, very overpriced for what it is,staff not very welcoming, could have got better and cheaper at waitrose, would not recommend this place, AVOID at all cost

Dreadfully disapointing . Very poor quality food . Poor presentation . And very expensive. On reflection i should of spoken to the cafe owners. But they didnt seem to be very receptive .

Popped in for a Sunday breakfast , pleasant garden area , nice drinks . But the ham , egg and chips was 1 piece of ham cut to appear to be more My baguette was small with just 2 bacon and a sausage which I expected more for the price ??? I appreciate cost of living to a point but £7.70 for a sandwich ??

Lovely friendly staff, ordered a traditional breakfast which was piping hot and plenty of it. Will definitely be going back soon to try something different.

We has a good breakfast at 1.30. All day breakfast. Service was fairly good. One of the servers was really friendly and made us feel welcome. I asked for water but it didn't arrive. The breakfast was well presented but the toast was under done and had cheap margarine. I prefer butter. Coffee was good. There was parking close by. 2 hours for £1. The cafe was in a mall called" Guineas" The toilet was large. Baby changing but a dozen flusher.

My wife and I have eaten here on several occasions very good service great value for money will definitely come back will always recommend it .

We popped in for a bite to eat and a drink. Had a trad breakfast and a smaller one -both enough for what we wanted and nicely cooked. Then we had a cheesecake. Very nice too. Washed down with tea and cappuccino. The place looked nice and clean and staff seemed friendly.

Took the kids for brunch here as I had heard they do nice waffles and pancakes. We arrived, ordered and weren't disappointed. We ordered both and they looked amazing. My kids loved them and we will certainly.go back for more.

Lunch at BLD was so good. My husband had the Newmarket breakfast, which he says was one if the best breakfasts he’s had in a cafe, the BLT club sandwich I had was stuffed with bacon and salad and my sister’s poached eggs, spinach and mushrooms was really well presented. Service was good, staff were friendly and we’ll definitely pay it another visit next time we’re in Newmarket

Not much to higyhlight this restaurant with a much bigger one opposite, but DO NOT MISS IT. Very enjoyable meal and lots of choices, served by charming waitress. Will most certaibnly choose this place above others in the area in future.

We go here quite a lot for breakfast and it is a local independent restaurant where they cook me scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for them and you can alter their offerings to suit you. They are good fun and really make you feel welcome. Please support them through these difficult times.

Killing time before an appointment I dropped in to this cafe in The Guineas. Quiet at the time as it was 11.30 but began to fill up at lunch time. Staff were friendly andattentive. I chose an Omelette and chips with Salad., not very exciting but nourishing. Salad dressing was tasty. Plenty of onions, a personal preference. Would go back.

I really liked this place, spur of the moment decision-based on gluten free options. Staff were friendly and accommodating and place was clean. While they did offer gluten free deserts, they were not separated from the other cakes and advised them that they should be separated, I would have sampled as they looked delicious,but did want to risk cross contamination. I would definitely go there again.

We fancied a trip to Newmarket one Sunday and the shops weren’t open so we popped into BLD and had breakfast so glad we did. What a great place. My hubby had the BLD big breakfast and it was huge and he said really tasty and cooked well. I had the same but ask for no beans and had extra mushrooms which was no problem. We both had their banana milkshake which are to die for so We will always go in here every time we go to Newmarket and wish to eat from now on.The people are so nice and friendly. The menu sounds so tasty so will have to try lunch and dinner too. They have a large selection of cakes on display behind glass too.So next time your in the Guineas shopping centre give it a try.

We go to BLD every Saturday morning for breakfast and its amazing, the staff are very helpful, nothing is too much trouble, well presented and very tasty, we think it is very good value. The best advertisment for this restaurant is that it is always busy, a sign of good food. We can definately vouch for that. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

We had to visit Newmarket and as BLD is convenient to the car park decided to give it try....we are so glad we did. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, the service could not be faulted and was exceptionally quick, the staff were all friendly and extremely efficient. There is a great choice of food on the menu, ours came to the table quickly and was piping hot and tasty. We can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. If we have to visit Newmarket again this will be a definite 'port of call'. P.S. Although we didn't sample them the gateau's on display in the cabinets looked gorgeous!

Excellent good value lunch in a proper caff. Lots of menu choice and lovely staff who are very accommodating. I chose the giant Yorkshire pudding and they adapted it for me with more veg instead of mash, and veggie sausages. Extra gravy was offered. I noticed staff helping more frail customers very kindly. Nice to see.

Had the special BLD breakfast which was very good especially the scrabbled eggs. The owner was very accommodating, as my brother had to leave the cafe for a short time, by keeping his breakfast hot.

I came here last week with my mum and baby boy. We only ordered a bacon baguette and a cheese and ham toastie. All we wanted was the two sandwiches on there own no chips etc, waitress kept persisting in questioning us for not wanting any extra sides. We waited nearly an hour for our toastie and baguette ( hardly food which should take a while) and the cafe wasn’t even busy. My mum had asked for her toastie on brown bread ( waitress didn’t write it down) after waiting nearly an hour my mums toastie came out on white bread, after my mum saying she asked for it on brown the waitress made out my mum was lying. Eventually when our food came out it was very basic - side salad didn’t even eat because it looked gone off and brown. Awful experience and never will be returning again.

Went here after night at the races good fry up the sausages are good,good mug of tea good honest cafe.

I've been to BLD a couple of times, the food is nothing special really for what would be classed as a cafe. Some of the prices are questionable vs. the quality of what you're being served though.

Very reasonably priced generous lunch. Quality sausages Staff are polite and helpful. Really enjoyed our lunch there, we will be back!

Friendly staff, good value for money food and good quality, my husband and I both had the shish kebabs with flatbreads which we delicious, the flat breads were some of the best we have ever tasted !!

My wife and I usually visit Newmarket on Saturdays as it is a great place to buy fruit and veg on the market and fresh meat from the butchers.We always eat in BLD because over the past two years we have found the food and service to be excellent with friendly and welcoming staff.Wait time has always been acceptable,even when the restaurant is busy.

Dropped in for a bite to eat....choose the Spaghetti Bolognase.....it was good for Restaurant unfortunately I have had home made before and I compare all others to that.

We stop for to have lunch. We ordered battered calamari and sirloin steak medium. The calamari have all taste but not the rigth one,the steak was well done. Basicaly nothing of special if I cook at home is better , never again .

Two of us popped in to the BLD for coffee on a Saturday morning. Clean and tidy, lots of tables. Waitress table service was quick and efficient. Latte £2.25.

Fuimos para un desayuno tarde. Porciones razonables, comida caliente, Desayuno newmarket y desayuno vegetariano. Los dos estaban bien, desayuno vegetariano tenía vegetales salchichas, así que no quorn fue un cambio agradable. Aparentemente el newmarket saausages y bacon eran buenas. Huevos, pan frito y setas eran sabrosos. Bean podría haber sido más caliente y tomates eran minúsculas, ido en respirar. No pedir tostadas blanco o marrón. Café podría haber tenido más patada.

we wanted something to eat the service could have been better as we had to order at the till l think one of the waitress was on her tea break I think it is under new management as the dcor was updated the food was good we will be back keep up the good work

Muchas veces utilizada por bld bocadillos para el almuerzo, nunca tuvimos una comida, pero los bocadillos, pasteles y bebidas son geniales y muy buena relación calidad-precio. Algunos empleados podrían hacer con un poco de entrenamiento de servicio al cliente, pero siempre rápidamente y sin ningún problema. No dudaría en usar como una parada regular de la herradura.

The staff are very polite and friendly. The service is very good and they are always very quick to clean the tables after use. Their tea can be in a cup or mug and it is always hot. There is a good choice of different...

Awful food and very expensive for what you get. Don't know how long this place has been opened but they seriously need to look at what they are serving to people. At least the wine was palatable.

Was my worst ever Sunday Roast Dinner What a let down Roast Chicken so dried out and a cheap thigh portion Frozen horrible roast potatoes and frozen microwaved mixed veg from the freezer I'm still reeling from this awful experience.

Have been here a few times and they do a good selection of sandwiches, friendly staff and a good service.

Lovely Staff even though they are Spanish or whatever. Great Oreo Milkshake definetly go for their Oreo milkshake. It's one of the best things!

after reading all five review about this restaurant I find in very hard to think it was so bad I have been here many times the food is ok but I think they have changed owners many times I would go back again the waiter found it hard to see what we wanted as we asked for cakes and did not get them

Called in one Sat morning for breakfast about 915am.Mentioned the time because shortly after 915 it was allmost full.Ordered full English breakfast and indeed it was huge seved fresh cooked and hot.The quality of the food was excellent and when next in Newmarket will be one of my first ports of call.John & SueTorquay

We went to eat on Saturday evening - had all day breakfasts, one Traditional, one Newmarket Breakfast. It seemed to take forever, but was quite nice. The sausages on the Traditional breakfast were tasteless, beans overdone and not many. We decided to give it another try Sunday (today) we both had roasts, one Chicken 'breast' more bone than anything and one'Beef' if you could call it that, more like old boots! a dozen peas, one small piece of cauliflower, two Brussels sprouts each and the smallest Yorkshire pud I have ever seen! we had two small 'chips' masquerading as Roast potatoes - we waited ages and ages and ages for this sad offering! Poor value, smallest dinner ever it looked lost on the large plate's - we will not be going back!

we always enjoy the food,but, the service is quite slow. the staff are very nice,also they take a long time cooking the food.Overall it is worth going in if you have plenty of time because the food is worth waiting for.

Basic food took ages; poor quality food; card machine not working; uncaring staff.When we entered the cafe, we sat down and placed our order with the waiting staff. Our drinks were brought over reasonably quickly, but that was where it ended. We had only ordered basic food - a sandwich, cheese and bacon burger, child's cheese burger and chips, a child's chicken nuggets and chip….and then we waited and waited and waited.We noticed other tables who had arrived before us were still waiting for their food too. When it finally arrived the food was below average, and we couldn't believe it had taken them so long to cook such basic food and such a poor quality. Half the chips were lukewarm, and another portion was too hot to touch but hadn't been cooked long enough and were still raw in the middle - so we had to take them up to the counter to ask for them to be cooked longer. The staff didn't ask how the food was, and when it came to paying we went up to the counter only to be informed, without any apologies, that the card machine wasn't working (which it would have been nice to be informed of before we placed our order). When I told the staff I didn't have cash on me, they told me there was a cash point a few minutes walk away where I could go and withdraw some cash. I would not recommend this cafe to anyone! We will certainly never be returning.
