Delicious food, mid-range price wise. Staff went above and beyond, made us feel very welcome - very dog-friendly so definitely worth a visit if you are staying on or close to Devon Hills Holiday Park.

Great Sunday lunch here you couldn’t fault it , super food good value for money but the best thing was the presentation of hot tasty meat and vegetables After trying several local restaurants this was by far the best Well done Di the manager and Jake behind the bar We will certainly be going again

Such a hidden gem of a place, we are local to the area and would highly recommend. Came on a Sunday and enjoyed such a delightful roast dinner, staff are all friendly. Great atmosphere. Manager was lovely. It was my daughters birthday and we told them and they made it so special for her. We don’t eat out very often so when we do it’s nice to feel looked after and eat proper decent food. Will return soon and recommend to friends and family

Such a shame that somewhere with so much potential could be so unwelcoming, in entering first thing we noticed was how cold it was, even the bar person had their coat on, there was a wound burner but this wasn’t lit. There was no ambient music playing and the whole place felt like a community centre. Very poor choice on the beer and wine and it felt like it was closing down, no atmosphere at all Not sure on food as there was no evidence of meals being cooked

Brilliant place for parties and roasts. I hired the function room for my party. Great space and the staff were very kind and accommodating. The day after I went there for their carvery. The food was delicious and the service from the staff was great. Definitely recommend going to The Blagdon.

Awful place, sat in here and were ignored for 45 minutes. I'm sure it's supposed to be table service, that's why there aren't table numbers! Ignore the photos on here, totally out of date. The place looks like a community centre. It was cold (no heat) and unwelcoming. Whilst there, three out of four steaks were returned to the kitchen by the table next to us (steak night apparently)....and after all those return visits, we still did not get any service. Paid for our drinks and left with no acknowledgement that there was any issue. Drove to Brixhan, had lovely food in the Old Market House, highly recommended!

I've visited this pub on 2 separate occasions once for steak night and most recently for a drink. One of the steaks were cooked medium as apposed to medium to well done, a second steak was cooked but sadly was pretty much the same! Secondly this is another smaller business that has sadly decided to go cashless and clearly don't understand the bigger picture! It is discrimination to not expect cash and a human right to be able to have the choice to pay using cash as it is still a legal tender! Despite all of this the pub has a good atmosphere and most of the staff seem friendly and helpful!

Worse meal ever steak tough,supposed to be ribeye think it was rump,tasteless,bad presented,prawn cocktail,more lettuce,than u can cope with ,prawns cheap budget tasteless, and chewy and hard to swallow very bland bread toasted no butter and very hard.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I've been calling to try and book Christmas day, asking for a menu, been fobbed off each time with promises of a Christmas menu, today I phoned up to be told it's now fully booked. I will NEVER go there again and I will be sure to tell everyone I know not to bother!!

The inn looks amazing, the staff were welcoming Alice helped my wife chose a lovely white wine . Sarah the manageress was absolutely wonderful as she was so thoughtful towards us as my wife had just recently lost her Mother. The food was fabulous.

Food was great, portions were very well-sized and the cost was very reasonable. Great 15th Century Inn right in the middle of Devon Hills which was clean, tidy and well maintained. However....although the food was good and the service came with a polite smile, it was very VERY slow bearing in mind that there were lots of staff and very few clients as it was the end of the evening. I asked for the dessert menu which never came so in the end I had to ask for it again and we sat there for at least 10 minutes waiting for our table to be cleared and the bill. My family and I got so fed up up having staff literally walking past my table and ignoring the mountain of empty plates that I ended up going to the bar where I found 3 -4 staff standing there playing on their mobile phones! Shame because if the service was better this would have received a 4 or a 5. Luckily the great food was good unfortunately in a restaurant you really need good food AND good service. The latter was lacking I'm afraid

This place is sensational! Appearances of thatched roof gives an impression of Olde Worlde. Inside, however, while congruent, is truly beyond expectations. We were attracted by 'Steak Night', which was great for half our party, the other half were seduced by the seafood linguine. That was truly remarkable. The huge tiger prawns on top knocked it out of the park. The sauce is sensational and the pasta was Al dente par excellence. The abundance of today's catch of seemingly never ending fresh clams was truly outstanding. 10 stars!

Beautiful pub from the outside. As on holidays for a few days we came 3 times. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Also helped choose a glass of red by trying before I choose 😁 Food was lovely. The pub is dog friendly which is a bonus. Highly recommended

Would like to make this review about the food, but… Booked a table for 4pm on a Sunday, only to be told on arrival that they were busy, and that only duck or gammon were left. A member of our party could not eat either option, so we left, hungry. The chef did offer to cook us something else, but we had specifically booked for a Sunday roast. Such a shame, as we have had good meals here previously. Sounds like some better planning is required from the staff. Unless they’re happy losing money to their rivals.

I was excited to go by myself for a Sunday roast. Unfortunately, I had to return it to be re-microwaved as totally stone cold. I also enjoy a Yorkshire pudding of which I don’t think I could’ve had flatter pancakes.

I visited the Blagdon today and was greeted at the bar with a welcoming smile from Zoe and Charlie, these 2 ran the bar amazingly and made me feel welcomed, 2 very polite girls, the management should be very proud to have them as part of the team. The food is excellent also.

I live within walking distance so would really like this to be a decent pub but it just goes from worse to even more worse. So tonight 19th February no card payments because the machine isn't working. There's an atm but it's £1.80 charge each time and the person after me that used it asked for £30 and got £20. The girl behind the bar couldn't care less. "Leave your phone number I'll phone them tomorrow".I usually drink Jail Ale locally and have had some dodgy pints in the Blagdon as they don't have much trade and don't sell enough to keep it fresh. Because of this I asked what it was like and was offered a taster. I HAVE NEVER TASTED ANYTHING SO DISGUSTING. GONE OFF VINEGAR WOULD BE A DESCRIPTION. When I told the girl serving, she just said it was a new barrel and she had sold loads of it. Unfortunately for the last couple of years there does not seem to be any grown up management in this pub. Seems to be staffed by people recently out of school who are more interested in talking to their friends or off duty staff or on the phone than actually doing their job.

Went in with my husband recently, there were only 3 other people in the place so it wasn't busy.We ordered a sandwich each from a less than extensive menu of 4 different types and settled down with a drink to wait for it.40 minutes later my husband went to enquire as to the whereabouts of said sandwiches only to be told the chef was on his own and was busy prepping for the evening session and they would be along 'shortly'.15 minutes later the sandwiches arrived, mine was OK, (but how hard is it to get tuna mayonnaise wrong), my husbands BLT had bacon that had been cremated and the chips they were both served with had been deep fried for far too long and were full of fat. I think the 'chef' must have been furious we interrupted his prep to make our lunch because he certainly was not run off his feet with other diners!.Very disappointed, we have eaten here a few times in the past and it has always been lovely.

Called ahead to book but when we arrived at designated time, the carvery was an unappetising mess of dried out meat, soggy scraps of vegetables and very little left. This was the worst meal I have eaten in a long time. The staff were polite and friendly but unattentive. The Blagdon serves a large community of holiday makers and needs to step up its food hygiene level and basic catering ability, it is an attractive building with a guaranteed patronage that it is not trying hard enough to stay loyal!

Booked Xmas here this year wish I stayed home and cooked waited nearly 35 mins for our soup and we were early bread rolls with no butter or knife cold coffee staff were inexperienced it was busy but not that busy not enough staff when we got to go up for our carvery not much meat left nobody seemed interested in replenishing the stock someone needs to address these problems it’s a shame because we have been here for many Sunday launches which have been nice but this will put me off returning
