Great atmosphere , Excellent food which was all cooked perfectly and packed with flavour. Our waitress Katie was really lovely and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. Absolutely recommend this gem of a restaurant in Beeston .

Nice pub and great that they have a good vegan range but not been impressed the two times I've been. First time, I had a zero-alcohol can of Guiness and a slice of vegan cheesecake which somehow came to over £13. Then I tried the vegan Sunday roast which came with one solitary, tiny Yorkshire pudding (in contrast with the non-vegan ones were enormous). Solution: just make egg-free Yorkshires, rather than giving vegans store-bought ones.

Chose to have the chefs special curry, it was special! No taste, dry, as for the so called onion bajees, burnt, and then re heated and soggy, inedible and sent back, a really disappointing meal, won’t return in a hurry, for a Saturday night it was almost empty, serving food like that I’m not surprised.

We have had a drink here a few times but for the first time we had lunch. It was a bargain offer price and the food was delicious. The best meal I've had in a pub. The staff are always friendly and accomodating.

Well If you’re after modern, British, contemporary food paired with craft beers in Beeston Nottingham, then blackshale bar & kitchen is one to add to your list of places to visit! Initially upon arrival, we were one of the only people eating, however when leaving, the entire bar/restaurant was heaving! We enjoyed some fantastic flavourful starters| 🍽️Moroccan spiced lamb meatballs 🍗Salt & pepper chicken wings For mains we demolished| 🍔 The Big Blackshale burger| this consisted of two smashed patties, a cajun chicken fillet, smoky bacon, slow-cooked brisket & cheese and what a burger this was! 🥩 Steak sandwich| which came with the most amazing homemade chunky chips as well, but was also filled with sautéed onions, mushrooms & Dijon mustard Something to mention is the staff here were fantastic! The guy that served us Duncan, was very knowledgeable when it came to drinks and the food menu and couldn’t have done enough for us! Fantastic selection of cask ales if that’s your thing! So if you’re after some class food with some tempting cask ales, get Blackshale on your list!

What a great place this is, with friendly and helpful staff. The food was excellent and piping hot, I really recommend the Mediterranean fish dish. The service was excellent and quick even with the pub starting to fill up with people enjoying the outdoor area which had a guest live DJfor the evening. We will definitely be back.

What a lovely welcome. My colleague and I was supported a gentleman today to have some lunch, which was very nice by the way. The atmosphere was great and the staff member Duncan was very attentive and very patient. I had to comment on how clean the toilets were as this is very important as it says alot about the rest of the venue. The added bonus was the handsome pub dog. He sat with us and was very relaxed in our company. The owner/manager made time to chat with us and we said we would definitely be back with some of the other guys we support. A lovely experience and you have everything just right. Well done. Thank you!

Went for a Sunday Lunch, we hadn’t booked but luckily managed to get a table. What can I say it was without doubt the best Sunday Lunch I have had in a restaurant or pub. Great choice excellent standard of cooking and loads of food. This is now my go to place on Sundays. I can’t stop telling people how good it is. Thanks to the Team at The Blackshale.

The food was absolutely appalling. So much so that the manager would not identify himself and left his waiting staff to apologise. We were refunded our meals which left us hungry and annoyed. Starters Hollandaise sauce was vile, just tasted of vinegar and mustard. Bacon, undercooked. Scotch egg massively overcooked Main courses My wife had a burger which she described as awful due to poor ingredients and poor preparation. I ordered fish and chips. There was no fish!! Just a fish skin in batter. The batter was cooked at too high a temperature too quickly, resulting in the outside being overcooked and the inside damp. I have never seen such awful food together with a lack of ownership and responsibility.

We've just moved to the area and our friends came to visit with their 11 month old baby. We decided to give this place a go on a Saturday rainy lunchtime. We were not disappointed! Highchair was available, there was a nice atmosphere with big windows to gaze out of, the beer was clean and the food absolutely delicious. I had the fish & chips and I'll know I'll be thinking of it in months to come. Everyone was very happy with their meal, great compliments and good portion sizes, we stayed for dessert. Also rather nice. Vegan/ veg options available. Reasonably priced and the bar staff were friendly. I like that the menu came with beer recommendations to compliment the food, that's a nice touch. Had to wait a while for the food, not excessively so but good food does come with a wait. We will certainly be back, thank you

The food was delicious and the options were just the types of things my wife and I like but find impossible to get in most places in the area. I chose Salmon and (undyed) smoked haddock fish cakes followed by slow cooked rabbit ragout and pasta. Both delicious. Drink options were fantastic ... excellent beers of course but also really good wines at non-inflated prices.

Had xmas dinner here and Iv got to say we were massively disappointed, Wev never been out for xmas dinner before and thought we’d try it for it once and at £90 a head it was poor. I want to say firstly that the staff were amazing, the young lad at the bar knew his beer and was very talkative and the girls were running around like headless chickens but the whole thing was abit of a farce. I can’t help but think the owner was after the profit more than offering a good experience. No water on the table, we were never offered the prosecco on arrival but we’re not fans so let it slide, the beef Wellington came out well done, tough as a boot but again I’m not precious so let it slide, then it started to grind on us. The veg came out all mixed up so if someone didn’t like cabbage etc you were done for. The chef put your gravy on for you so again depending on preference this was decided for you. The veg was boiled to within an inch of its life and didn’t have a drop of butter or seasoning on them. No sauces on the table so had to ask for everything ie mint, horseradish etc and the sitting was 2pm… when we left at 4:30 there were still tables that were only just being served their main so all in all a poor xmas dinner. It has put us off going out next year, yes the outfit offered is a £90 refund so I shouldn’t really complain but if we had t we would’ve paid £360 for 4 x basic carvery’s. I think the owner needs to do a pre run next year and actually have one of his own meals he’s serving and see if he’d be happy paying that price before he markets it. Shame as the pub is nice and beers were served well

We came here on a Monday. Spur of the moment idea. Cosy atmosphere with a good selection of very nice beers. Sadly our experience of the food wasn’t so good. The veggie pie was cold. The staff were great and replaced it with a warm one, but the mash was then cold and lumpy. Really disappointing. We left early. Won’t return for food

Very nice food, lovely atmosphere and staff. Not cheap but you can tell it’s gone into the quality of the food. We have been both for Sunday lunch and for the lunch deal and really liked both. Good vegan options and dog friendly throughout (though we haven’t taken ours in yet). Staff also knowledgable about the beers and could recommend a beer for our tastes and meal.

Stopped here today after finding this on Tripadvisor. We were warmly welcomed and given the option of sitting in the bar or upstairs (very steep stairs) for waitress service. We chose the Ploughman's Lunch, where you have the options of choosing 2 options from: cheddar, Stilton, brie, prawns, beef or piri piri chicken. The plates were full of colourful & tasty food; the beef was plentiful and tender. It took us ages to get through and unfortunately didn't have room gir a dessert. Another customer couldn't manage her lunch, and she was offered the option of having it packaged up and taking it home. We will be back next time we are in the area to try something else off the menu!

I live a mile from Brome hall and have never visited this place before! Why I ask myself? Took my mum for afternoon tea today. A warm friendly welcome. The tea was awesome. Couldn't fault at all. Perhaps next time and yes, there will be a next, the conservatory would have been wiser so we could have a sleep on the sofas. Sunday lunch is also on the agenda.!!
