Black Rooster Peri Peri in North Lanarkshire

Very expensive for that kind of food 10£ for panini!!!!

I have been speaking to black rooster for almost 2 weeks now. In short I became very ill from food poisoning. A bacteria called campylobactor. This derives from undercooked poultry. In the days leading up to my sickness I hadn't had any chicken. Then 16 hours after eating at black rooster coatbridge I was ill..my doctor has done tests and confirmed the campylobactor bacteria. Black rooster accepted no responsibility only after 10 days of going back and forward. Giving time to resolve any issue that may have arisen from there negligence. Very unhappy at the way this was delt with. They initially asked me to refrain from making this public and give them the chance to resolve it amd not to worry about my missed wages. Then they tried to say that I was threatening them with social media because I wanted compensation? When they were the very ones who initiated that option. Oh well make your own mind up.

Great place and food always jumping

The worst chicken burger I've ever had and it was over £10 for a meal! The sauce in the burger was too runny and the whole burger was kind of falling apart in my hands. The side, in my case Halloumi Sticks were just standard frozen ones, with no dip included in the meal, they were pretty much tasteless. You'll get a better value either even at McDonalds or KFC. I regret spending over £10 in there. I won't be back and I don't recommend.

Me and two colleagues just ordered lunch from here for a take away, the food is over priced and it was probably the worst chicken burger I've eaten in my life, I was hungry or I would have taken it back. All of us are all saying the same not anywhere near worth the £35 we just spend for three meals, KFC is way better

I had stepped in here so happily to get some nice food for lunch and they ordered me to a table i was absolutely frozen and we were thinking about moving tables, as we were stood up nobody came to ask if we were okay or when we sat down didn’t ask for the 10 mins if we were ready to order don’t get me wrong there food isn’t to bad. All together i wouldn’t wish to ever go for there atmosphere again. On the other hand we couldn’t even see the menu i literally had to put my torch on as it was genuinely so dark. There parking was also a struggle. It’s not sign posted for the restraunt we had to go all the way to the top and turn at the roundabout.

Was very enjoyable will definitely be back.

Food brillant as always, couple of things let me down on this occasion, first the table we where instructed to sit was not clean at all, the dryer in the toilets was broken - no paper towels in sight which would have been beneficial here. Last gripe is the £1:30 charge for a small tub of sauce, very inconsistent with this as half the time they give you it for free (4 tubs for free last visit) Apart from that ill be back to give it another shot.

Staff friendly and helpful, food hot and freshly made. Great choice.

Tried for the first time yesterday and it was fantastic, so tasty and great portions, really could not fault the place, definitely a returning customer.

I usually order online and drop in to pick up and the food is always ready for me collecting. The mild isn't so mild but still good.

My partner and I would eat in black rooster Duke Street at least 3 times at least a week pre Covid. We have only just returned the past week and have came twice in 5 days. The food is phenomenal and the service was even better. We have been served at the counter by Josh both times while visiting and his service is out standing. We are very lucky to eat out most nights and out of every restaurant we have visited Josh’s service has out done them all. He is very polite and accommodating. Black Rooster should be proud to have him serving there customers. We never caught the name of the 2 ladies who have worked beside him I’m sure they are blonde and they are so pleasant also! Nothing is a bother and it’s service with a smile! Thank you for making our evening meal enjoyable in a lovely clean restaurant! If I could give them 100\10 I would! Fantastic thank you!

This Black Rooster is absolutely disgusting. The food is lukewarm and definitely not fresh. The chicken is rubbery and dry. They advertise Pepsi, fanta and 7up. It’s not the real juice, it’s a cheap alternative and they should not be advertised as such. They only take cash???? Hmm. The whole restaurant screams ‘done on the cheap’ and you can tell. The staff were lovely - that was the only good thing about here. We 100% will not be back.

Total waste of money. Firstly, they don’t tell you it’s cash-only until you arrive, meaning I wasted 10 minutes going to find a cash machine, which then means the food is lukewarm by the time you get home. The food itself is very average- halloumi fries were like concrete and the chicken burger was a tragic wee slimy thing. Also paid for 10 chicken wings and only got seven. So don’t waste your money, you’d be as well going to McDonald’s.

Tasted good, nice place only issue was that I had to walk about the scheme to find a cash machine as they wouldn't accept card.

Absolutely disgusted by the service. Went online to order food from the website and got a message to call the restaurant for delivery. When I called them I was told since they have only 1 delivery driver they won't be taking any online orders for the next 20 minutes. I called again after 20 mins and was told to wait another 15 minutes. Finally after 40 mi utes I got to order the food. However after another 20 minutes I got a call from there manager Niki who said the delivery drivers car has broken down which I don't believe for a single second and she asked me for my sort code and account number to return the money. It's shameful how they turn away regular customers. Won't be ordering from here again!

A little busy and hectic, only due to the time we went, yet the quality of the food and service was still too notch

I don’t know why in this day and age any restaurants don’t take card payments. I don’t think hot wings are the only things been cooked in here. Definitely worth a look into the accounts

This place has the worst website ever - your not sure whether your order has gone through or not. Doesn’t have a payment interface either.Turned up “oh we haven’t got an order for you” despite me having an order confirmation that said to pay in store. At this point I wish I’d just walked away.They only take CASH lol I mean only cash in this environment is a crazy business decision that will cost them tonnes of customers as hardly anyone carriescash now, indeed I had to borrow money from a mate as I didn’t have cash on me.Told me I had to wait outside and they would ring when ready - 25 minutes came and went so I went back in and yip it had been sitting waiting with no call to tell me - the staff clearly haven’t got a clue.Food wasn’t great, lukewarm, soggy fries and onion rings and definitely not worth the prices they charge I definitely won’t be back and would recommend others to avoid this place

Absolutely disgraceful customer service! Chicken was undercooked and raw and when I requested a refund got told this is the way the chicken is even if it’s cooked for 20 hours. Also, why is it cash only? Seems fishy to me. Will stick to the glasgow branch from now on!!!!!

Waited 40 mins for food . They didn't text when it was ready for collection .i had to go in to find out it was waiting .not the best first experience

Called today to place an order for collection, was asked to hold on for 1 min as serving a customer, 6 mins later still no answer eventually I turned up at counter and there phone was lying on counter still got me on hold spoke to manager who picked up the phone and switched it off, would be quicker driving out and placing order. Was in this sane takeaway last week, got the order wrong and the food was cold, had enough won’t be back at this takeaway

I used to love the food in here..Coatbridge. last 2 times, the coke was flat. Put it down to lockdown. Just ordered one for delivery and waited over an house. All I could eat was the fries and they've even cut back in the periperi dressing on them too! The sauce on the chicken was like water ..really like clear water and the chicken skin was still soft and white...boak. I thought it was just mine but my husband's was the same. I then tried to finish my wee girls burger and the bun was hard and stale at the edges. My coke was flat again too. I feel really sick. Couldn't eat the chicken it was sooo vile. I have no idea why they aren't cooking the chicken longer to make the skin crispy. It was like boiled chicken wings I had done in a pot of water myself. I also ordered the cheese sticks for my daughter and they tasted greasy and gross. I will never risk ordering from here again and I used to order from them regularly. VILE VILE VILE and shame on them for charging people for this muck and continually serving flat drinks. I think they must be making them in advance and leaving them sitting out...as they are totally flat.

Honestly don’t recommend. I waited an hour and my food wasn’t even cooked yet! I cancelled the order and the girl wasn’t even polite. Phoned me 20minutes later to say that’s it ready. Chapelhall is 100% better

Was passing through Stirling, had to call my order at the door then waited 30 mins and no call from them with my order so called them to find out where our food was and our order hadn’t been taken properly so no food!!! An absolute joke!! If your happy eating fresh air this is definitely the place to go, otherwise look elsewhere

Never had any problems, placed my order tonight at 4:20 and had the order confirmation on the phone, drove 20 minutes from Cumbernauld and sat outside the shop for another 40 minutes. Then phoned to ask why our order had took over an our for them to tell us they didn’t even have our order when we had the order confirmation on my phone! So now have had to make another order to wait a further 40 minutes😡 Would’ve gave 0 stars if I could, we are starving !!!

Ordered online and was sent an email saying they would contact once the order was ready. Sat outside for ages, decided to chance it and went in to see if it was ready, it was sitting there waiting. Got him (10 mins if that) food was freezing, chips were soggy and burnt, dips I paid for were missing, one of the burritos wasn’t the right “flavouring”. Still hadnt received a message to say they food was ready.Just absolute sh**e. Wouldn’t recommend. I wish we just went to the bbq hut in Clydebank Montrose street/kilbowie road at the cross. Food there is better quality, always hot, larger portions and cheaper. This is just another “bandwagon” Sh***y Instagram (even tho the food doesn’t look like photos that the official restaurant post) place.

Shambles of a place. Wife ordered for pick up and after over na hours wait was told sorry don’t have your order and that was it. Emailed to complain and still wait a reply over a week later. Terrible customer service. Happy to take the good reviews. 1 star given as can’t give less.

I think I’ve spend over £5k easily before this sh*t show of a management took over. Used to be the go to place for work lunches and weekends with mates however hands on my heart I’d rather eat a pot noodle than go to this particular black rooster. Where do I start, I’ve had 4/5 orders which have either missed items, had hair in them or were cold as. Today, I contacted them to place an order thinking they may have changed after the feedback I have gave and I’ve been hit with chicken as dry as a nun’s f*nny(find image attached)- no sauce whatsoever after mentioning this to them. To add, the food is once again cold- expected this one!I totally understand that with this pandemic, businesses are restricted with budgetary constraints but at the same time if you can’t provide consistent high quality, shut down the sh*t show. Don’t provide absolute garbage to loyal customers since black rooster opened. No quality control whatsoever!Rest assured I can say I won’t ever be going back to this establishment and will definitely stop anyone I know.Embarrassing to the black rooster name selling inedible p*sh like this.

Decent food but can wait a while sometimes. And dont arrive too late as they always seem to be closing 30 - 45 minutes earlier than displayed.

Drove half an hour during lunch break from work only to find out its cash only...during a period where card payments are preferred to stop cross handling the cash. Not convenient for field workers who have to use a work card for lunch payments

The BEST place in Central Scotland to get GREAT hot 'n spicy ,World beating chicken meals and service. All the staff are wonderful and friendly, all the time. Sit in preferred but takeaway is just as amazing. The BEST!!!!

Ordered online, waited outside for message that food was ready to only be told at this point cash only via the text. By the time you go get cash from the nearest location your foods cold and completely wasted. Walked out due to poor service and explanation by staff who clearly get this complaint alot.

Got a take away whilst staying at local Travelodge.Staff were lovely, really helpful, food was very tasty, genuinely delishes, honest, well flavoured chicken was excellent, good quality with lip smacking flavour, same wit generous portions of fries and sides such as onion rings and Jalepeno bites.Great price!Top marks!!!!!Wish the owner all te best, he deserves it!Oh, ps, SPOTLESS!!!

After everything that's going on with covid a company like this should have card payments. Smaller businesses than this accept card so I don't see why they won't!! Had to go to csahline machine couple of miles away then get charged £1.60 to take my own cash out!! Food was OK but would be cheaper getting a meal deal at nandos

Piri chips were awful & they classed as their hottest wings were about as hot as a Mars ice cream

Phoned to make sure they were open, didn’t tell us cash only until we got there. Had to travel 10 mins to get a cash machine, went back and the place was busy with school kids with no masks on. No social distancing measures, kids walking from table to table to talk to their pals. People came in for takeaways without masks on and the staff didn’t seem to have a problem with it.

Telephoned shop from airdrie put on hold took 12 mins to get to shop still on hold entered shop to find two staff standing talking asked why in still on hold to find phone had been put under counter not the first time I've heard this storey

Best meal ever! better than Nando’s. It’s so much spicier. Dericho couldn’t handle the tingley feelin in his gob. It was absolutely stunning. When they brought out they spicey rice it was game over. I’m having my wedding there. Tasted like little angels dancing all over my pink little tongue. Proper good Chinese it was

Delicious and reasonably priced food, never been disappointed with anything I've ordered. Place doesn't take card which is inconvenient but the food is class. Everything is hotter than you'd imagine so if you get hot in nandos I'd go for medium here.

I was there with my friends and the person serving us was nothing but rude! When we walked in she asked for a name and number because there was 7 people in front of us, then she told us that if we didn’t answer the phone straight away then we would loose our table. When she phoned us, we came back in and she was really rude when she asked if it was us that she had just phoned. She came up to us and asked us to leave even tho we weren’t finished eating and we still had our drinks (we weren’t doing anything wrong) she said that she needed the table back but when we went outside no one was actually waiting.

Far too spicy chicken was excellent quality and plenty flavour but just to spicy for myself.

Forgot some of our meal. Food was so dry and salty, staff rude and bad mannered would not recommend ever literally better going anywhere else won’t be back wish I could rate 0

Fantastic chicken ,sauce was a bit sweet ,easy to order and great at updating you till order ready , definitely will use again. Plattershave huge portion sizes.

Tonight was the first night I had tried Black Rooster after hearing so much hype. The burrito was nice but tiny and the wings smelled like cigarettes and did not have a nice taste so these were straight in the bin. I personally do not think we will be back after this first experience.

Disgusted tonight, there must have been about 50 teenagers all squeezed into your place in shawhead , that’s not social distancing, people are in queues for medication and only allowed in 3 at a time , wouldn’t even step foot inside I was that disgusted 😷

Decent grub but there wasn't much of an atmosphere unfortunately, walls were bare hardly any colour, a bit uninviting to be honest, however the service was decent and quick enough.

The sauce's are amazing. But only if you like spicy. This branch is generally mobbed and theres always a wait. Ice wouldn't go a miss in the drinks but all in all delish food and service is fine. Just very very busy.

Went for lunch at Black rooster on Shieldhall road, and the customer service was really poor, their appearance is also unprofessional. I was handed my food in a impolite manner and was pretty much chucked on the table. My friend was eating a sausage roll out of Greggs and was one bite from finishing it, and was told to leave the shop if he was eating it. My friend took the last bite of the sausage roll and was immediately told he was banded from coming back in a very cheeky manor. I am extremely unsatisfied with the customer service of this franchise and there seems to be no management in site nor can I find an email for complaint , the workers act more like children.

Came here for the first time and wouldn’t come here again, I paid Nando’s prices and got half the value here! Didn’t even get a plate or proper cutlery to eat my food! I ordered a half chicken and had to eat it with a flimsy plastic knife and fork! Didn’t even come in a plate!!! I had to eat the food off a tray! Some would say that’s part of the “experience” I would say save your money and stick to Nando’s!

Was extremely disappointed with my meal as I was SICK not even 5mins after eating it and so was my friend. We both had the chicken burger and both ate half, we left the restaurant and had to turn to a side street and throw it up. My other friend who also had the chicken burger was also SICK about an hour later! Not good would not go again!!! I am assuming the chicken was undercooked as I am not one for being sick atall!

Lovely staff. Good chicken at good prices. Busy with school kids at lunchtime. All good except for two things: cash only and the road traffic system to get in and out is an actual nightmare. Shame.

Had to wait 15mins on a table on a Monday night at 6pm.nice place once inside chicken was good but even with it been done 'plain' it still turned my breath into fire!

Go! Only if you love salt,way to salty and destroyed out meal.Also get very mild because of the chilli on the mild.Verysalty and do not recommend for people who don’t like salt.

First time eating here got coleslaw that was out of date. Tried several times to eat here again and the card machine doesn't work and hasn't for months after asking staff. No sign on the door until recently telling people it's cash only. Staff never smile.

Cash only. The nearest cash machine is (according to Google maps) 0.5 miles away which was recommended by staff. This, coupled with the convoluted drive involved to reach the building can be irritating before you've even asked to be seated. Slow, lax staff. Being a Friday evening around the 6 o'clock mark, it wasn't particularly busy. A few people sitting awaiting collection orders. However, it still took a full 5 minutes for any member of staff to greet and then inform that a 10 minute waiting period was necessary. After the aforementioned 10 minute wait, the menu did not show any allergy information. Upon request, the staff procured a few stapled pieces of paper riddled with boxes (not unlike an excell spreadsheet) showing the allergies related to which food etc. Spelling mistakes aside, it would seem if you're gluten free, you can't eat the chicken or the peri seasoning as it contains gluten. Overall, the experience wasn't great, and I didn't even order the food. So sadly, I am unable to comment on the food, but judging from the overall experience, I would not be back. I'll settle for the few mile drive to the nearest Nandos. Thanks but no thanks Black Rooster.

Amazing chicken and excellent value, but needs to be able to take switch.

A different addition to the many take aways in Coatbridge. The mango sauce with the chicken is delicious and there are quite good value meal deals available. It does tend to get quite busy but with good chicken like this give Nandos a miss and go here

Went in for a quick bite to eat, they never took card (did not say anywhere only mentioned when we tried to order) so had to drive almost 10 minutes away to the nearest bank. Called and placed an order to collect in this time and was told it would be 10-15 minutes, ordered two meals with 2 extra sides. Waited half an hour for it and got home for my quesadilla to be missing and my mild chicken strips to be hot. Complete waste of money, staff were not pleasant and food wasn’t good. If you want to try black rooster your better going to the one on Duke Street!

A cheap nando's but the food is ok

Didn't like this restaurant, the chicken was something I have never eaten before, texture and taste was more like patty, nothing like chicken, also found a large bit of blood or vain running through chicken, I am a person that would eat anything, but this I refused Only take cash no card payment and no vat , for a company that has more than 3 restaurant,

Food was great as usual, nice staff, busy place.

The quality of food is superb, and very reasonably priced. I’ve had numerous items off the menu and everything is succulent and fresh.

Food good, but no signage up to tell you its cash only! Not a good experience to find that out after placing your order in a big queue! The car par park outside it is full of litter and I didn't see anyone cleaning the floor inside which had loads of dropped chips etc... on it so a few basic things to get right and it could be a really good alternative to Macdonald's

Popped in for lunch and was taken to a seat the place wasn’t very busy yet tables were needing cleared and cleaned.
