Black Horse in Hinckley and Bosworth

Had breakfast there. Wasn’t rushed and the food and service was brilliant. Have been twice now and would go again. Tea and coffee on tap.

Wow. The Black Horse has to be the best place for excellent food, drinks and service. A very beautiful and well maintained restaurant. With very efficient staff who are always more than welcome to help in any way. The food is next level, absolutely delicious, hats off to the chefs and the kitchen team. Nothing short of an amazing experience from start to finish. Every thing is of a very high standard and run very well by a great manager and team of staff. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be booking again. Thank you for a great evening.

This is an amazing restaurant the staff are all so friendly and always go above and beyond nothing is too much trouble for them food, wine excellent and our excellent server Caron always so friendly always remembers us and always interested in the family a lovely place to go!!!

We visit the BH every couple of months or so and having read the previous reviews from the past couple of weeks, I was completely shocked. On our visit today, the food was excellent as always and the staff, from front of house to waiting, were polite, attentive and accommodating. Even shared holiday tips with Caron!! Will def be back as always have a great meal and experience!

Had booked breakfast as part of ongoing milestone birthday treats. As always, received a supremely warm welcome from Caron and her colleagues. Every breakfast ingredient was high quality and perfectly cooked, served on a hot dining plate to keep food warm. Bottomless coffee was appreciated too, served by Caron who wasn’t invasive but was attentive, and very smiley and polite. I’d forgotten I had paid a deposit so was grateful they deducted it from the bill. Can’t wait to go back.

Caron really looked after us! We had a great experience for breakfast on Saturday 30th March. We ordered a few bespoke things and even got to take leftovers home for the dog. Thank you again for a lovely meal - a great start to our bank holiday weekend. Jess xx

It was pie night - very good food, really enjoyed it. Onsite parking was convenient. Staff were pleasant. It was pretty busy (Monday evening), but wait times between courses were ok. Dessert was gorgeous too!

Me and my sister went here for Friday steak night as an early birthday celebration for me. Everything was fantastic, from the staff who were lovely, shout out to Karen and Sasha and the food was delicious. The did the best cherry pudding ever! 🤤 Would highly recommend x

We have been visiting the Black Horse for years, with many Sunday lunches and special family celebratory occasions. The food, as always, was unfaultable, and the waitresses were smiley and attentive 10 out of 10. However, we were greeted ( and I use that term sarcastically) by a miserable, obnoxious, and rude middle-aged 'blonde' woman. She did not smile once. I gave our surname and she said table of four, to which I replied oh no I only booked it for 3 of us. She glared at us, as if it was our fault and an inconvenience (it still would have been the same table!), gave the menus to the waitress and turned her back. What a real shame. If this was your first experience, you certainly wouldn't return. What a shame. Whatever her role is, she could ruin the amazing reputation that the Black Horse has had for years. Vile.

The food has always in our opinion been very good here and since the ownership changed the food and menu quality continues to be an excellent standard. However, I feel on our last visit the front of house staff let the side down. To give a couple of examples, when a bottle of white wine was delivered to our table already opened and the waitress asked if one of us would like to taste it we said and I quote, 'it should be fine thank you, it's not corked is it?' to which the waitress replied ' Oh yes, it's corked, definitely not a screw top' ! Bless her. Not her fault, but please training, training, training. In addition on arrival to the table the bottle of white wine was no where near cold enough. It was a room temperature bottle of white plunged into a cool bucket. When paying £30.00 plus for a bottle of white we expect it to arrive at the table already chilled. We have made these comments in the hope they may be taken on board to enhance the customers overall experience.

We are long-time supporters of The Black Horse, and whilst we go infrequently, we have been doing so for many many years. The reason has always been great food and plenty of choice on the menu. This time we weren't blown away. Whilst the waitress was lovely, the front of house person was somewhat surly. The menu was paired down to a 'Winter Menu' which had a limited choice on it, and the food was 'okay' but not knock out. The restaurant was fairly empty, and it just seemed to have lost some of its former character and vibe. I don't think we will be rushing back in the future, sadly.

Excellent food! Fast service & staff were super friendly! I even got a little promotion gift! The staff made the service very personable & made the effort to come and chat to us!

We hadn't been to the Black Horse for a while and thought we would give it a try. Still a nice place with a decent selection of drinks. Our vegan friends were impressed with the choice of options for them. We had decided to go mains then desserts and from then on we were on a downward slope.... The main courses took an hour from ordering to arrive, even asking their whereabouts a bit before. My wife's food was luke warm at best and needed to be taken away to be reheated. We had to keep trying to attract attention to get more drinks and finally had to ask twice for the bill. There seemed to be plenty of staff but no-one paying attention to the diners and making sure things were happening when they should be. We were not alone in our issue of slow food as others tables also asked about their meals. Two of the mains got the thumbs up and two were "meh". Same score for the deserts. It's a real shame as its a great location and nicely decorated etc, A few improvements would really lift the place based on our experience.

Perfect Sunday lunch.We were a group of 9. Service was faultless and the food was gorgeous! Had the hake served with generous side vegetables.the cheese cake was delicious and had to try the lemon posset with the basil ice cream, amazing flavour combination.Definetely recommend!

Very attentive service and great food. Visited for the Sunday roast. Substantial portion sizes, large side dishes and well cooked good quality meats. It would have been 5 out 5 if there had been a non- red meat option available.
